All this talk of cloth nappies has got me interested, I am going to have to look into it Smile maybe I could do a combo of both?

We've got a cot bed for the LO too, bought DD a toddler bed from Ikea a couple of weeks ago, she loves it! I ended up sleeping on the cot bed mattress in her room last night as she had a high temp, 39.4 - no idea what's causing it but calpol brought it down. It's awful when they are poorly isn't it, I'm such a worrier!

detective sorry your dad is being a bit rubbish Sad family can be v frustrating some times eh.

Got midwife appt tomorrow, looking forward to hearing baby again. Think I've been having some tightenings too so will ask her about those.

Hope all you ladies have a relaxing evening Smile

kissyfur · 29/07/2012 21:28

tomato we are team yellow too and haven't bought anything so far. Have lots of stuff from DD but if this LO is a boy then DP will be having to make a dash to the shops for boy baby things! Smile

ValiumQueen · 29/07/2012 21:29

kissy I predict in two weeks time your DD will have chickenpox. Mine had an unexplained fever and followed that pattern.

I think the pebble just comes in swankier colours and has more padding.

horseylady · 29/07/2012 21:37

Pebble has more padding and fool proof car attachment. Not that the other couldn't be attached incorrectly! I'm going for the older design not the pebble!

kissyfur · 29/07/2012 21:38

valium I was wondering if it might be that, they have had a sign up at her nursery saying there has been an outbreak of it for a few weeks now so I've been expecting it, in a way I hope it is that as would rather she gets it b4 the LO arrives. I had a blood test for immunity when PG with DD so know I won't get it again. She's had a high temp for most of today too but is fine in herself, did that happen with your DD too?

Thechick · 29/07/2012 22:24

tomato I haven't bought anything for this baby yet, I don't have anything left over from ds, I have no one buying anything for us or hand me downs and I won't be moving house in between now and the baby being born so we have no excuse really, we will get stuff but haven't just yet.

I'm 24 weeks today!! Woohoo!!

blonderthanred · 29/07/2012 23:16

Bought my first babygro today at the Olympic tennis! I felt a bit silly as of course it will all have long passed by then but I feel like in the future the baby will be interested to know it was born in the Jubolympic year and all the things it was taken to (street party, torch relay etc) so it would be nice to have a memento.

This may sound even more silly but all these events have made me feel really connected to the baby, like I am taking it to these events as a real person, not just a bump, talking to it and thinking about the future (also getting ridiculously teary all the time as a result!) - just me being odd?

Catbag · 29/07/2012 23:39

I think I'm in the ridiculously organised camp- I have two car seats, cot, moses baskets with rocking stands, tonnes of clothes, a 360 double Nipper, nappies, breast pads etc and my hospital bags have been ready since I was 16 weeks. The only thing I have left to get is a new mattress, and their bedroom is sorted.

I'm a little ocd with preparations, but I know I'm going to be permanently knackered come a few weeks time, and I'm supposed to be back at uni for my final year in Oct. Suspect I shall spend most of this academic year studying from home though, since I'm not putting the twins into childcare (faaaar too expensive) and I live 45 miles from uni. The last few years I've driven in every day, but I shan't be doing that this year. I'm starting to think that, secretly, I like to make my life as difficult as possible!

TheDetective · 30/07/2012 00:05

No, I feel the same blonder and feel quite pleased to be having a baby in such a memorable (for the British) year.

I get all teary too! And I cried at the opening ceremony, as DS is asking me a multitude of questions about what each thing was about yada yada, and through chokes I was trying to explain the bits of history etc etc! Blush

I've never been patriotic ever! But I think its a special year, and one to be remembered for a long time!

FatimaLovesBread · 30/07/2012 01:07

Yawn! I feel poo. DH is out drinking/celebrating and I've been awake most of the night. Woke up a bit panicky/anxiety and then got bad heartburn so have been up throwing up. Now I can't sleep and the baby's very wriggly Sad
Now watching F1 replay and hoping I don't fall asleep just to get woken by DH, he has instructions to sleep on the sofa tonight Grin

WRT car seats, cabriofix and pebble are pretty similar. Cabriofix scores 82% in which? Review, pebble scored 79%. Pebble is suppose to be a bit flatter but don't think it is much in reality, the seat is wider and a bit heavier.
We went for the cabriofix as we managed to get it for £84 plus 1900 boots points. Pebble comes in around £130-160 and it's base is more expensive.

horseylady · 30/07/2012 06:25

Is there anything I can take for a cold? I can feel it tracking down my chest which I don't think is a good sign? Will go to dr tomorrow as I can't sleep with it and it's been here since Friday?

SwissArmyWife · 30/07/2012 07:32

horsey I would suggest a lot of orange juice, honey and lemon drinks, some olbas oil in a bowl of hot water that you can hang your head over for a bit, and paracetamol.
But avoid Vicks vapo rub, as I heard if you rub that on your chest it stops milk production, although I don't know how true that is.
I had a cold at the start of this pregnancy and took cough medicine as I'm prone to chest infections and it didn't cause any harm. Hope you get better soon.

I feel so rubbish today, yesterday I had a fall in the kitchen, I managed to knock a pint of water off the counter with my elbow, and as I was trying to rush to stop DD coming over so she didn't slip, my right foot slid across the floor and my left foot stayed where it was, so ended up unintentionally doing the splits, until my foot hit the corner of the fridge and I toppled over on agony. It felt like I'd ripped my pelvis in two, and today it hurts so much :( also have a scratch along my arm from where I tried to stop myself but couldn't. I just want to curl up in bed and sleep until I have this baby! Have been up since 5:30 and am shattered :(

Going to stay at my mum's for a little while on Wednesday though so hopefully will get a bit of a break then.

rowingdowntheriver · 30/07/2012 07:35

Morning horsey, you can take lemsip and strepsils but not the 'extra' type as there is something in them that's not good if you are pregnant. Sorry you are feeling rubbish. Think there must be something going around at the moment as DS work up at 5.30 coughing and crying with a streaming nose.

rowingdowntheriver · 30/07/2012 07:41

Cross posts swiss, that sounds awfully painful. How old is your DC? Will you get a chance to have a rest at some point during the day?

ValiumQueen · 30/07/2012 07:46

kissy yep, just like that. Temp of 40, so miserable one night. Came down fine with PCM. No cold or cough or rash, but two weeks later spots. Again sign up at nursery for a while. I felt the same. Better out of the way before LO. Shame it was the morning after I hurt my foot.

cat with twins I am not surprised you are in the mega organised camp. You will have to be!

horsey we are much more prone to chest infections when pg, all infections actually, so do get it checked out. Hope you are soon feeling a lot better.

swiss you poor thing! Especially with SPD.

SwissArmyWife · 30/07/2012 08:10

rowing DD has a two hour nap in the day so I'll probably have a nice bath and maybe a nap myself!

rowingdowntheriver · 30/07/2012 08:32

That's at least something swiss! My DS is back in bed now hopefully for an hour or two so I can catch up on some sleep too!

tomatoplantproject · 30/07/2012 08:43

Owch swiss that sounds sore. Can you get to your mums and the waiting tlc before wed?

horsey vit c, bed, paracetamol, lots of water to flush out your system. Hope you feel better soon.

At least I'm not the only one in the disorganised camp - thanks guys for making me feel a bit better. cat am very impressed with your twins and bags packed at 16 weeks!

ValiumQueen · 30/07/2012 08:48

swiss can you move in with your mum? Even just for a little while? Enjoy the naps while they last use them for R&R not housework.

TheDetective · 30/07/2012 09:17

Today is a grumpy day! I'm in work, having a break (it's a miracle!!) and it is all I can do to stay awake! I didn't sleep one wink all night, gave up at 2am and got back up. Had to be up at 5.20 for work anyway! Between baby kicking, heartburn, and dp snoring, I was about ready to explode!

At least when I get home, I can nap. Thank god!

Having lots and lots of tightenings today, but nothing uncomfy! It's all DP's fault for making me want a shag Grin. Not many of those about these days! Think he wanted to make the most of it! Now I am paying for it!

Swiss ow ow and more ow. That sounds pretty bad. Hope your pelvis isn't giving you too much grief. Nap time sounds like a good time for mummy indulgence!

Iheartpasties · 30/07/2012 09:18

Wow, some of you are very organised. I cannot wait unitl we start to buy a few of the big items I want/need.

I have been washing up a few bits and making them nice again. Like the bassinet for the old pram and the cot blanket. I have been organising the kitchen too, nest nest nest. I have urges to wash the walls and stuff like that! crazy.

MissMummy1 · 30/07/2012 09:20

Another one who has woken up with a cold this morning :(

Hips really achey today to after a 5 mile hike with inlaws and the dogs yesterday. Knew I'd end up paying for it today...

Morning everyone.
I hope you all feel better soon. Im finding very difficult to fit in some r and r.
To day I'm surposed to clean the bottom of the house, then do aquanatel, and then go to work.

It's half nine and all I feel like doing is going to bed again.

The detective- I'm glad you got a break, hospitals arnt great places to work in when your pregnant. I also find that earlys are a killers.

I'm just going to sit and watch tv, for an hour. Then go to aquanatal. Then work :(
I can leave the house cleaning till tomorrow. Plus the guy is still painting.
Evil

SwissArmyWife · 30/07/2012 11:37

Valium I suppose I could move in with my mum for a bit, but I was thinking of going there for a few days a week and then coming home for a few days just so I can keep up some kind of normality here and I don't do my mums head in!

Any kind of organisation has been completely overlooked for me, luckily I have a fair bit already but I can't quite seem to find the enthusiasm to buy baby stuff right now. I'm sure that will change in a month or so though, or at least I hope it does!
I can't quite believe i'll be six months on Friday - it's going so quickly!
