OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpottyTeacakes · 14/07/2012 12:10

I am ivana! They will be doing special heart checks on the baby etc too. So a mixture of excited and nervous.

acjfluff · 14/07/2012 12:18

Thanks Spotty and Seymore I know I'm probably worrying about nothing but would like some reassuring movement.

Ivana I'm nervous but also know I'll be relieved to see if there's still a baby in there!

FriendofDorothy · 14/07/2012 12:42

I bought my first baby clothes this morning. I hadn't intended to but I was at a car boot sale and someone was selling brand new M&S 0-3 months white bodysuits. I bought 11 for £3 which I thought was a bargain!

HoneyMum21 · 14/07/2012 12:45

I'm scared about 20 week scan too and then also have a fetal cardiac scan the following week which I'm worried about too. Can't wait to see bump again but really nervous too

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 13:51

the baby grow dp bought was super cute- so he got away with it.. just! aha

ellie- i get 'period cramps' all the time, mw said it was normal :) my doppler is one the plays outloud, but i cant find a heartbeat..4

spotty- are you any good with the doppler? im literally useless and now im worried that the baby has run away :(

bella- i feel distinctly not pregnant either, its a bit of a let down so far! i think it will be better when we are all properly showing?

i still havent found any maternity jeans that i like! i want over the bump ones but nowhere seems to sell them at a decent price :/

is there any technique i need to have to find bubbas heart beat with this stupid doppler?

congrats on team pink/blue, me and knotty have an AGE to wait :( is anyones scans after the 8th or are we literally last?!?!

HoneyMum21 · 14/07/2012 14:07

When we got our doppler the best advice we got was use LOADS of gel! Then start quite low down and just slowly move it round. It might take a while! We also found if I drink fruit juice beforehand he's easier to find! Good luck

Stacks · 14/07/2012 14:07

Bubbless when my mw looked for the heartbeat at my appointment last week she looked really low down, just below my knicker line. I found it at home last night in a similar place. Kind of central tummy, couple of inches below belly button.

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 14:10

okay.. round two.. i will report back after a- plenty of gel and b- lots to drink..

Saphiesgirl · 14/07/2012 14:11

Hi folks, all well here. Had 16w appt last week and the baby was kicking so much the midwife could feel it through Doppler- she was in stitches- looks like I've got another active one then. I'm really jealous of your scan dates- mw said I won't get letter till I'm 19w which is mince! At least it's the school holidays- who knows I might be the last if its after the 8th.

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 14:36

YAY!!! i found the heart beat, how do i know its not mine?

saphiesgirl- awh! thats so cute!! ohhh.. competition for last place?! aha

HoneyMum21 · 14/07/2012 14:45

Bubbles- it should be much faster than yours. I'd in doubt find yours first and then listen to baby again and they should sound like different speeds xx

pmgkt · 14/07/2012 14:52

Bubbless mine isn't til 21st Aug so no you are not last. I will be 21 weeks though and being due on 28th Dec I'm one of the last due too.

Had loads of wriggles today which is nice.

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 14:55

honey- yeah it was really fast, and i checked my pulse and it was at different times ( i have a very high resting heartbeat and had to come off of meds and not really great during preg! ) cant wait to show dp tonight :)

pmgkt- oh it was you that i jumped behind in the stats thread, im only the 27th so you may very well give birth before me!! your scan is rather late? or is mine early? Confused either way, cant wait to know what the last little beans are going to be!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 14/07/2012 14:57

Got my Doppler today, didn't get the heart beat but tadpole did feel the need to show his displeasure by kicking the monitor! Lol my 1 didn't come with gel, just a monitor and headphones, it's made by 'summer' anyone else got this 1?

My DH also got his first feel of a kick this morning! And I was kept awake half the night with it doing somersaults (and pushing its back out the front of my tummy) maybe it was being a starfish who knows, but it was quite reassuring.

For those not feeling movement a friend of mine didn't feel hers (1st) until 24 weeks, and she was a size 8 before baby so had a bump, she's now 38 weeks with a healthy happy baby who had hiccups last night (now that's a weird feeling, and you know exactly what it is as soon as it starts happening)!

ellliebelle · 14/07/2012 15:26

How is everyones weekend going? Im having a real lazy one as havent stopped for the last 2 weeks and feeling pretty worn out.
Dh is still holding out for a bbq this evening even though the temperature keeps dropping and it also seems to be getting darker by the minute :)

Bubless who makes your doppler?

SpottyTeacakes · 14/07/2012 15:28

It took me quite a while to find the heartbeat, I had to press pretty hard. I also have a fast heart rate (especially when pregnant!) but it just sounds different to your own!

HoneyMum21 · 14/07/2012 15:44

I've just made 30 stuffed chillis to take to my friend's house tonight. We used to catch up over a few bottles of cava... I think tonight is going to be a slightly more sober affair. For me anyway.

SeymoreInOz · 14/07/2012 15:54

Mmm honey what did you stuff them with? I really fancy peppers stuffed with feta now!

I've only ever used a doppler on other people but be aware that the placenta has the same bpm as the baby! The placenta makes a whooshing beat though, where as the baby's heart makes a more clipped sound (a sort of clip, clop noise)!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/07/2012 15:56

Oh Seymore that's interesting if my placenta is anterior and that's what I heard am I unlikely to find the heartbeat yet?

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 16:01

might be worth getting gel stacey although i havent tried mine without, il do an experiment later for you and see if gel is neccessary!!
im kinda glad to hear of someone having really late movements, but everythings okay, im not even really showing yet as i was a size 12-14 before hand.. bellys the same size just harder!

ellie my doppler is made by... love baby? heres the link, you get free gel with it :) my doppler
my weekends going okay, dps going out for 'a few' drinks after work with his mates which always gets me down a bit as i have noone who wants to see me but hes said we can go look at prams tomorrow!! how about yours?

honey- they sound lovley.. what have you stuffed them with?!

Cookiesandcream06 · 14/07/2012 16:04

Owww I'm jealous I don't really feel that many movements and being my second I really thought I would have more by now and bump really is growing.

I phoned up the shop in Bournemouth and they are shut on Sundays and they close at 5 in the week so limits me to only going on a Saturday.

HoneyMum21 · 14/07/2012 16:10

they're cherry bomb chillies stuffed with spicy cream cheese. I think the recipe originally suggested feta but cream cheese is easier to add the spice to! Although feta in anaheim chillies might be on the menu tomorrow night... mmm (I work in a shop where we sell lots of fresh chillies!)

As we're discussing baby heartbeats and placentas, was having a bit of a random thought earlier. I can feel a really strong pulse beating around my belly button fairly constantly - do you reckon that's the placenta pulsing?

SpottyTeacakes · 14/07/2012 16:12

I get that honey I thought it timed in quite well with my own heartbeat though

Bubbless · 14/07/2012 16:20

ignores talk it may be the placenta only using it to settle my irrational mind, all medical checks will still be in place, il just be more relaxed listening to my little placenta?! baby :)

ellliebelle · 14/07/2012 16:21

Totally baby unrelated question but am i right in thinking some of you ladies live near the new forest? We are taking the dd's to peppa pig land at the end of august and should have around half a day free while we are there and was wondering if you could suggest anywhere nice to go? Prefrebly no where too exhausting for me as i will be driving for around 5 hours to get there but something to entertain the dd's for a good few hours would be fab
