Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SeymoreInOz · 12/07/2012 23:09

Congratulations mummycox and clarella!

I keep changing my mind about finding out the gender. DH won't be able to come to the scan (he'll be on a 30 hour flight at the time) and he is dead against finding out. Maybe I should find out and keep it quiet Grin or is that really mean?

We haven't bought anything for the baby yet. I'm waiting to get the all clear at the scan too.

My birth plans have always gone something like this:

Pain Relief: No pethidine. no water blisters either
Placenta: Injection please.
Baby: Vitamin K injection, skin to skin.

ivanapoo · 12/07/2012 23:14

Yay congrats on the scans, double boy action woo.

Mine is in a week. STILL can't decide if I'd like to try to find out the sex...

Bubbles I still haven't bought any baby stuff either. I'm planning to have a shoptastic September!

ellliebelle · 12/07/2012 23:16

Congrats on the blue beans :)

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2012 06:07

Cookies I'm not sure where you are but if you go on the mutsy website it shows you stockists. Think there's one in Portsmouth and definitely one in Poole. John Lewis don't stock it. Poole one you can buy the bits separately so if you don't want the carry cot you can save £120.

Cookiesandcream06 · 13/07/2012 09:14

Oh thanks Spotty, although google has let me down on this one it's shown nothing and I can't even find a Mutsy website. I'm prob around equal distance between Poole and Portsmouth actually but shall see what MiL says. She saw the iCandy online and really likes it but once she sees the price in JL today I think she'll have a heart attack, I've tried telling her it's too expensive Hmm

Good luck scan ladies I'm sure there were a couple this Fri 13th? Mine was supposed to be a week today but now it's been moved I'm sulking about it a bit!

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 09:20

what is hypno birthing? is it literally whale music and deep breathing or is there a bit more science to it? i really really really want a pain / medication free birth.. might investigate with mr google ;)

seymore- i wouldnt be able to keep it a secret once i knew?! and youd let it slip somehow by only coming out with blue / pink names or something.... remember; baby brain will kick in at some point!!

ivanapoo- glad its not only me! im getting a bit hormonally angry at everyone as they are buying loads of stuff and i want to buy something [pout]

good luck to everyone with scans!!

anyone else suffering from insomnia?! eurgh..

HoneyMum21 · 13/07/2012 09:30

Good luck to those with scans today

Clarella · 13/07/2012 11:49

All the best for scans today :)

Had a wobble last night due to thoughts for work next week, asking for my risk assessment and wondering whether it will all go tits up in September as that may be the time my thyroid may wobble again, its always mega stressy any way, plus a looming ofsted, and ill be in my third trimester working after actually only having worked 4 weeks in school throughout! Having another wobble as I phone union to check what "supported phased return" should entail for next week as have visions of money saving cost cutting resulting in none of that. And that's all aside whether there's still any slapped cheek going round, if its possible to catch chicken pox again and if my kids will do that thing where they attack/ test me for abandoning them. Hey Ho I'm sure it will be ok, just get so exhausted and frustrated having to think about making sure everything is ok. Sorry I'm having a downer, will try and tough up soon.

On the gender surprise thing, DH has said he doesn't want any other scans eg 3d or 4d as he wants what baby looks like to be a surprise, which is fitting well with me, can't explain it. I think the gender knowledge has helped me as I grew up convinced I'd have a girl due to girly family. But its all personal choice :)

SpottyTeacakes · 13/07/2012 12:27

Cookies I'll link it to you when I get home tonight (can't link on my iPhone not tech savvy enough!)

WeeJo08 · 13/07/2012 13:15

For everyone who was asking about the hypnobirthing - elliebellie and bubbless I think, my friend has lent me the CD and so far it is focused on relaxing. It's 25 minutes of relaxation which I actually quite like. It seems focused on giving you "triggers" which, when you hear them, will settle and relax you. DH has put it on our iPhones and I try to listen to it every other day. Hubbies and partners are supposed to listen to it too I think. The first CD (the one I am on) is to be listened to up until 32 weeks and then you swap on to another one which I presume is more labour-focused.

My neighbour has just given birth a few weeks ago and she said the hypnobirthing helped her IMMENSELY and was a fantastic, positive experience in comparison to her first birth. The website is www.natalhypnotherapy.co.uk - I haven't looked on the site as I just got the CD from my friend.

Sorry for the mammoth post but wanted to answer properly! Good luck for any scans today! And congrats Clarella and mummycox Grin Our scan is two weeks today! Eeeeek!

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 13:46

clarella- good luck )): i think the key here is to stay posative, deal with the problems as they come not all at once or youll stress yourself out even more and thats not good for you or bump!!

weejo- fab thank you, will have a look! :)

PurplePidjin · 13/07/2012 13:58

We're just off!! Hope Queen's is going well

OP posts:
Clarella · 13/07/2012 14:36

All the best pidg! Soo exciting (and weirdly tiring) and utterly amazing, put a recorder in your mind to replay later, i keep replaying the bit where baby did some sucking movements with his mouth! Hope you're good too queen!

Spoken to head who was a little mystified at my worry as apparently it will all be explained in back to work interview (im never sick so have no clue!) But I did get across my anxiety which will probably evaporate the minute I'm in. Just realised all the other nonautistic lot will be dishing out the hugs, which will be nice but hope my slapped cheek OCD doesn't kick in too much! my class will probably ignore me, or laugh at me. Union have been useful, I never use them but something tells me I may need back up in future!

Hypno labour sounds good - I've found yoga (normal not really preggo) very good in similar way, our teacher makes us keep a pose for a while and focus on the all the feelings and pain, breathing into it to control it, which I reckon will be useful! Things like triangle, horse and warrior (leg stuff) gets the lactic acid going but also really good for squatting muscles! I'm being made to do horse against the wall a lot (forwards and back) and can recommend (though being told to "fuck the wall" was a little disconcerting)

I know I'm a bit further than most (sorry, it was 1st Dec for a while!) but I can.now completely feel this baby turn round, most peculiar feeling, and pretty constant wiggling and bubbling in between - Met a mum who's 18 wks at aqua natal with twins which was nice. I bet twins feels even weirder!

Clarella · 13/07/2012 14:37

Thanks for the advice bubbless BTW, very wise and focussing on that appoach!

catfart · 13/07/2012 15:16

Hi all, just found this thread! I'm due 08th December....look forward to catching up on your chatter later :)

FriendofDorothy · 13/07/2012 15:17

I am seriously envious of people who can feel movement. It still doesn't feel real to me without it at the moment!

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 15:28

clarella- no worries, hoped it didnt come across as really blunt but didnt wana beat around the bush with 'oh it will all be fine, go skip through a field of flowers..' type reply!!
and it wasnt actually me that came up with it but my councellor from a few years back ;)

me too friend.. me too..

im having a hormonal pregnant outburst now, bawling my eyes out.. as everyone knows some know me and dp havent bought anything yet, and from a text hes just sent me hes bought the first item for the baby without me :(
can someone tell me that im BU without banishing me to the scary AIBU board

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/07/2012 15:32

Aw actually I think that's a bit mean of him bubbless but I'm hormonal and of too remember!

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 15:38

stacey- it makes it worse because i KNOW he was only trying to be nice (2 arguments this week, one lasting 3 hours, one resulting in him sleeping on the sofa) and hes trying to make it up to me (both about him not talking to me about the baby, im just as scared as him etc..) but now i feel like i wana scream at him for trying to be nice
this pregnancy hormones thing is crap!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/07/2012 15:46

Oh bubbless don't upset yourself if u can help it. Pregnancy is awful both physically and mentally for us and mentally for them, maybe more so than us as they don't 'get any of the physical bits! :(

Tell him to stop arguing back and just give u a cuddle!!

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 15:58

haha, i shall. maybe its something really cute anyway and il love it and wouldnt have thought to buy it myself :)

littlemissbroody26 · 13/07/2012 16:31

Hello catfart, im due on the 8th and new to :)

hugs bubbless, men dont think! congrats on your first baby thing, i hope he has done well and choosen something super cute!

i have the opposite problem and i have had a few little cries that my oh hasnt bought ANYTHING! Angry he also doesnt care about the stuff i have bought apart from to say i cant put a boy baby in a pink babygrow with hearts on, well boys can have pink!

does anyone have worse morning sickness now than in the 1st tri?

Bubbless · 13/07/2012 16:36

sorry catfart welcome and congrats!!

littlemiss im very swiftly coming to the conclusion that all oh's are useless and only we are superior enough to be given an opinion / buy anything / choose the pushchair regardless if it wont fit in the boot because we are the ones carrying the child!!

and im afraid to say that my morning sickness has nearly cleared up.. you still feeling rough? :(

littlemissbroody26 · 13/07/2012 16:47

i agree.. the men cant be trusted.. my brother bought baby an !i love ibiza" t shirt.. i have never been to ibiza and the baby wont be going to ibiza.. funny choice!

im feeling worse than i was in the 1st tri, only in the morning but i have to try and eat something before i throw up, i feel fine if i drink a can of full sugar coke but that isnt really a healthy habbit!

PurplePidjin · 13/07/2012 17:11

Another one for Team Blue here! Going back next week because he's hiding his head behind my bladder so she couldn't get a clear shot, but everything else present and correct :o
