HoneyMum21 · 12/07/2012 18:06

Congrats Mummycox - boys are catching up :)

SpottyTeacakes · 12/07/2012 18:12

Ah lovely news Mumycox

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 12/07/2012 18:13

Congratulations mummycox!

Loving the thistles and nettles talk lol, sounds about as appealing as those blisters tbh!

EggsMichelle · 12/07/2012 18:42

Another Blue one, congrats Mummycox.

Thistle torture? I'm sure there are men out there that pay for that! But still the idea of a laboring women and a lot of nettles is making me giggle.

Nutela, on reflection I am laughing at my own behaviour, particularly the point where I demanded a new hand bag as mine smelt of olives!

HoneyMum21 · 12/07/2012 18:45

I'm still unsure if what i'm getting are actual flutters or if it's just wind It feels kind of liike a little ripple combined with a bubble. But can feel it from the outside with my hand on tummy so hoping it is bump.

As fr as ELCS goes, the main reason that we've decided it's probably the best idea is mainly because of my history of depression (although that's a lot better now) and anxiety (i'm quite an anxious person, in case people haven't noticed that from my posts! Wink Basically i am not good with feeling out of control or being unsure of what is going to happen so we've decided that the best way to minimise anxiety about what is going to happen is by being able to plan and know in advance exactly when and what is going to happen. I know there are still things which are beyond control but after discussing it with DH, MW and Drs we think it's the best option for us.

SpottyTeacakes · 12/07/2012 18:47

If you feel that's what's best for you Honey then that's what you should do :) It definitely sounds to me like you're feeling baby rather than wind!!

ISpyPlumPie · 12/07/2012 19:15

Congrats on the scans Clarella and Mummycox.

Bubbles - I was induced with DS. Was first offered induction at 10 days overdue, but said no. I decided to accept at 12 days over but they didn't put any pressure on me and said I could go for expectant management instead.

As it happened I had a pretty good birth anyway. The first pessary worked so I didn't have continous monitoring or any drips. Got by on TENS and gas & air, and didn't need any stiches despite DS being a rather substantial 9lb 2oz. I know it doesn't work out like that for everyone, and it's a big decision whether to agree to induction, but just thought a positive story might help! Also, there's no reason at this stage to think you will get to the stage where it will be suggested and even if it is it's completely your choice whether to accept it or not.

I'm ideally hoping for a home water birth this time. Was a bit worried about the cost of hiring a pool, but have just found out that the community midwives loan them here and all you pay for is the liner. Also means if you don't end up using it you don't pay at all unlike the hire places.

CakeBump · 12/07/2012 19:20

Nutella I suddenly had a really odd thought at the swimming pool yesterday when surrounded by a lot of naked Germans in the showers....

I suddenly got really worried that by accident I was going to bring my child up with all sorts of weird British hang-ups about nudity!

Even though everyone else was letting it all hang out I just cannot go naked in communal showers!! :)

BTW sooo jealous of all you guys who know the flavour!! We find out in 3 weeks...

Clarella · 12/07/2012 19:21

Sounds like baby honey!

Congrats mummycox!

Thanks for the wishes, spent all afternoon discussing a particular baby name we're not sure if brave enough to use!

HoneyMum21 · 12/07/2012 19:30

Thanks guys

We've been discussing arguing good naturedly about names since we found out. We've down to 3 choices - DH wants to name him after his grandad but i'm not hugely keen on the name, one (my favourite) is quite unusual but DH does really like it but is still keener on naming him after grandad and one is a 'safe name'!

Queenofsiburbia · 12/07/2012 19:55

Ooooh big congrats mummycox too!

Ha ha Grin to nettles & thistles in labour (don't suggest it to DH, he'll probably think a good saving on buying me a bunch of flowers). Plus it sounds like something NCT would be keen on so let's keep it quiet...

Honey that does def sound like baby! Yeay!

Nutella, I say why let the Germans down? Wear tweed in the pool. It's naturally water resistant you know.

Re baby names, we've given up. Maybe we'll make it a game at a fete "
pick a baby name and win a bottle of German wine" (apologies nutella).

HoneyMum21 · 12/07/2012 20:05

loving the mental image of getting into a birthing pool in a tweed 2 piece skirt suit plus matching hat :)

mwahmwah · 12/07/2012 20:11

16 week check today, and after a bleed this morn lovely to hear little bubba's heartbeat... 160 BPM, now that's meant to mean a girl isn't it???

Bubbless · 12/07/2012 20:11

honey- if elcs would make you feel more comfortable then thats the best thing- im all for putting no stress on myself during the preg as ive lost all of my coping strategies!

ispy- im glad they didnt put any pressure on! ive been watching too much 16 and preg! where all the girls agree to everything

cake- i honestly think that a bit of modesty is a good thing!

clarella- if you want some baby name advice feel free to pm me, ive always wanted a totally unbias opinion from someone i dont know but i run and hide from the baby names boards!

me and dp cant decide on any names- but finding out the flavour might help!!

Bellaboo123 · 12/07/2012 20:34

Congrats clarella and mummycox

littlemissbroody26 · 12/07/2012 20:36

congrats on the baby boy scans clarella and mummycox .)

i hope they wont want me to be naked when i give birth!! the swedes love nudity, they think im very stange to wear my swimming costume in the sauna. My OH has naked saunas with his 3 sisters Confused

As for movements mine are still a bit ambiguous, i just think to myself i i get wiggles in my tummy and then no fart its baby moving.. odd logic!

emilyeggs · 12/07/2012 20:42

Ha ha ha littlemiss the water blister comment made me lol!

In my mind my birth plan is all tranquil with whale music and in tune with my body........in reality I'm guessing it will be the complete opposite! Screaming for an epidural, cursing the pool then being told its too late for an epidural.....

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 12/07/2012 20:44

littlemis Grin at 'wiggles in my tummy but no fart' Grin

olliebob · 12/07/2012 20:46

How exciting that some of you now know what flavour you are having, i will hopefully find out on 23rd. I have felt so tired this week but i am happy that getting lots of baby movement now. Defo getting a bump cos work colleagues are now asking if i am pregnant, some already knew but didnt tell everyone as work in a big open office.

Think i will prob opt for a hospital birth, like the other 2, mainly because i have gone over and been induced once and the second time went in to be induced only for dd to decide to start making her appearance. So think i have got it in my head that will go over again with this one and prob have to be induced again Hmm
Have bought my first thing for baby this week, a little babygrow from next, starting small as really shouldnt need to buy a lot this time round plus having to watch the pennies as h thinks that building up debts for nothing is fine so trying to keep him in line.

Bubbless · 12/07/2012 20:51

im really sad that neither me or dp has bought anything for the baby, im just too scared that it then all becomes real!
eurgh, get very anxious about this sort of thing!

littlemis- i said something very similar to dp the other day! its like cramp but without the pain Confused

i also bought a doppler from ebay :)

dp cooked me a beautiful dinner of salmon, mash and veg :)

CODwidow · 12/07/2012 21:12

Feeling lots of movements now Smile

Congrats on the blue news looking forward to finding out what flavour my little bean is soon

acjfluff · 12/07/2012 21:23

Congratulations on the scan news!

I haven't bought anything yet Bubbless just in case. I'm waiting til after my scan on the 20th.

I don't think I've felt any movement yet, I'm 18+4 so starting to get a bit anxious. However, my clothes don't really fit and baby seems to have had a growth spurt so I'm hoping all is well.

I'm very impressed by the talk of birth plans, you all seem so organised! My plan is turn up at hospital, have the baby, panic take the baby home. Something tells me it might not be that easy...

emilyeggs · 12/07/2012 21:24

Jealous of everyone feeling there babies move Sad 16 weeks tomorrow and my first baby so know its a bit soon but still jealous

Cookiesandcream06 · 12/07/2012 21:51

Congratulations on the blue beans clarella and mummycox , I felt sure that at least one of you had to have little willies in there after the streak of girl beans.

If I need pain relief, I shall be having it. Not going to kid myself about whale music (no offence meant to whoever mentioned it!)

This evening I have emptied over half my wardrobe, and boxed up all my jeans Sad nothing fits no I really do have a bump but also a lot of bacon podge.

Venturing to John Lewis to 'test drive' baby-mobiles (prams) tomorrow with MiL and DD, I really wanted to look at a Mutsy Evo but I can bet they don't bloody stock it. Where does?! pidj and COD have you seen any on your local travels?! Any heads up ladies would be fab Grin

ellliebelle · 12/07/2012 22:54

Weejo which hypno birthing cd do you have? I reallt want to give it a go. Would love a homebirth had quite a quick labour with dd2 contractions at around 1am felt the need to get to hospital at about 5am and she arrived at 6.30am i might sound strange but it was an enjoyable experience i had gas and air then some mepted(sp) but only about 10 mins before she came so it hadnt kicked in. Then i was at home having full english by 10.30am :)

I know i cant request it but would love something similar but at home.
