Think i spoilt my own joke there, draft should be spelt draught. I think. Taxi!!!

EggsMichelle · 10/07/2012 22:11

Mines Friday 20th, will be 20+1.

I think I have swallen ankles, my socks appear to have dug into me. Oops!

Clarella · 10/07/2012 22:21

Mines on Thursday, 20+3. Been swinging again all day (lol ;) ) and we've decided to find out as am so convinced its a boy but only tell a select few (ie not school) - been sort of feeling it's a private thing and baby's not ready to be shared with the world (already getting annoyed by commercial gender baby ware) and was so annoyed to have to tell people at work so early i'd like to keep this bit ours. Mind you, may well say so here! Undecided.....

Queenofsiburbia · 10/07/2012 22:31

Honey, I shouldnt let the size of yr uterus determine if you feel worried. I get huge by the evening. Isn't it possible for your midwife to do a heartbeat check to help put your mind at rest? Mine did it at 13 weeks when I had to go for the post scan appointment.

Clarella · 10/07/2012 22:33

Mind you what's mostly on my mind is that all is ok! Try not to worry honey I think its very understandable to feel anxious. It's hard but it may be worth mentioning to your doctor as your anxiety may not be calmed even after a 20 wk scan and in my experience it will attach its self to anything (hugs) x

WeeJo08 · 10/07/2012 23:18

Bellaboo and Stacey Make that scan triplets! Mine is on 27th as well - will be 20+4.

knottyhair · 11/07/2012 05:47

Honey, it's horrible to feel so anxious, so I'd just say get any reassurance you can, like Queen says, ask your MW to check the heartbeat. Eggs hope your DS is feeling better. Still thinking of you mini.

My 20 wk scan isn't until 8th August and I'll be 20+3 - can't wait Smile.

SpottyTeacakes · 11/07/2012 06:23

I've got my consultants appointment today. Always a bit daunting with four various HCPs in the room plus me. Going to see if I can hear the heartbeat again. Too scared to broach the subject of getting baby out quite yet....

knottyhair · 11/07/2012 06:43

Spotty, good luck for today. Let us know how it goes x

emilyeggs · 11/07/2012 06:59

Good luck today spotty I have my 16wk appointment today to Smile yay!

SpottyTeacakes · 11/07/2012 07:00

Yay heartbeat for you too emily!

pinkglitter80 · 11/07/2012 07:02

Honey I'm a worrier too and around 9 weeks lost all my symptoms & was really panicking, my midwife said i should get a scan at the early pregnancy unit which really helped - maybe you could try that? not sure if we still count as 'early'? but also the chances of something going wrong now are so small so the chances are everything is fine :-) i do understand how you feel though!

I am currently panicking as i ate half a packet of salami last night -and have only just realised that its on the banned list - AAHHH!! i figure so long as i don't get any food poisoning symptoms in the next few days i should be ok right? i am so stupid :-( really hope i haven't broken the bean :(

SpottyTeacakes · 11/07/2012 07:08

pinkglitter current advice in the UK is that you don't need to avoid cured meats Smile

pinkglitter80 · 11/07/2012 07:24

Thankyou spotty! DH was saying it counted as raw meat as not cooked? (all his fault anyway as he was working late so not around to police me!)

knottyhair · 11/07/2012 07:53

Pinkglitter, I've been eating salami and other cured meat, even before I'd read they'd changed the guidelines. The risk was from contracting listeria and I just figured as I'd been eating it for 44 years without getting anything, I'd take the risk!

HoneyMum21 · 11/07/2012 08:09

Thanks all for your advice and reassurance. Yes Clarella I have a feeling that the anxiety will just attach itself to something else once I've had 20 week check. I think the MW saying I should 'listen to my gut instinct' is what scared me most as if I did that bump would have every little thing possible wrong. Think will talk to my GP next week about the anxiety in general.

Good luck at your consultants appointment spotty and enjoy hearing the heartbeat emily

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 11/07/2012 08:57

Morning everyone, good luck with all the check ups!

Think I might buy a home Doppler this weekend as DH hasn't heard the heartbeat yet (and I wanna hear it more)

Feeling okish today, maybe it's the sunshine?! Hanging washing out to try and get on top of it all while I feel ok and there is some nice weather so my house doesn't get as damp!

Barbeasty · 11/07/2012 08:58

My scan is the 23rd, and I'll be exactly 20 weeks (I think they try and make it exact here).

I have been booked for the hospital, as the midwife recommended a c section this time, but if I can't have a section then I will try and change to the local mlu. I started there last time and had a half hour ish transfer to hospital, which was fine. Even when the driver forgot to put the handbrake on- I can still see the midwife clinging to the doors to stop it, and me, rolling into the wall of the hospital!

I'm trying to work from home this morning, as DD isn't well. She's had a temperature for a few days, and now has spots. It doesn't look like chicken pox (which she had in March) but we're going to the Dr later this morning to see what it is. Given that I'm pregnant and there were 2 other pregnant ladies at DD's swimming lesson on Sunday, and my dad is only a couple of months past chemo, I want to check!

Clarella · 11/07/2012 09:09

honey I'm not really sure she was wise to have said that, but just my opinion. Anxiety is a fear of fear - fight or flight - so we imagine the worst to be prepared. This is sometimes very useful, and is necessary but can get out of hand. The basic hormones involved (adrenaline etc) can begin to dampen happy hormones (seratonin etc) so it leads to feeling down and tired and the cycle repeats.

When I was going nuts about slapped cheek/ thyroid I had to tell my self this and try and separate the facts from my anxiety but it was really, really hard. It totally interfered with everything I did and I bit anyone's head off who told me it would be fine! (then felt down about being such a fusser) It still hangs over me but I have to admit feeling movement has helped which I know you have said you've not felt yet? I do try to repeat the mantra that 'no news is good news' ie I've luckily never spotted etc. Which (sometimes) helps!

itsMYNutella · 11/07/2012 09:23

My next scan is 6th Aug when I'll be 19+4. We got a 16 week scan, which was nice :o

minipie still got fingers crossed for you! X

Clarella · 11/07/2012 09:23

Sunshine Stacey?! What's that!?

It's supposed to be our monthly rationed one day of sun tomorrow (shock) so DH and I spending the day out in town (plus scan yikes!)

Hope she's better soon barbeasty

itsMYNutella · 11/07/2012 09:25
