Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
annelid · 09/07/2012 22:13

I had a home birth with my last one, so would really like to do so again. I'm sure the consultant I see tomorrow will have other ideas though!

CODwidow · 09/07/2012 22:17

I'm sure this'll sound silly but i feel like I'd be under pressure for my house to be immaculate and what if it makes people think they can visit straight away but on the upside I may actually get some sleep afterwards.

Bubbless · 09/07/2012 22:32

spotty- i would also be furious at dp about nandos!! in fact, he would be sleeping on the sofa in this household.. however i did eat an entire cake over the weekend his mother baked him... and he had none... maybe do something like this, you feel cheeky like the malteasers advert!!

found out today that now not only my family dont agree with my having a child but dp's family also thinks were doing the wrong thing, seriously doubting that me and dp can do this alone now :(
feel soso shit about everything and i want my anti depressants back ¬¬

;;grumble over;;

cod- i was thinking about a hb but we rent.. is it even allowed?! aha. plus i agree, mess should be at the hospital not in my living room ://
however, sleep also sounds very desireable...
can you discharge yourself from hospital after giving birth? (obviously if everythings okay with baby!!) because id rather not spend the night if i dont absolutly have to and 'monitoring' me can be done at home.. by my dp.. whilst i sleep......

CODwidow · 09/07/2012 22:50

You have to stay for 6 hrs (I think) minimum but then you can be discharged.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/07/2012 04:23

When I had ds nearly 6 yrs ago he was born at 6 am, If there hadn't been me indium in the water they would have discharged me at 9 am. Although he was my 2nd baby. and I wasn't secretly thankful not to have to go home and look after 2yo dd as well, no siree

I don't think renting would affect having a home birth, I wouldn't even worry about it, but I do have a lively landlord so I am probably very lucky.

Well as you can see 4am and I'm awake again. Ds needed medicine as his ear was hurting. He's still in a complete daze though. DH normally notices him come into our room before I do coz I'm a lazy butch coz I don't wake up very quickly. And ds has been refusing to come into the room unless I talk to him, even though DH is telling him to come in and wake me up Hmm it's upset DH that ds is rejecting him, I've tried explaining he's just unwell and wants mummy but I'm not sure the message is getting through! Right time to try and sleep again me thinks.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/07/2012 04:24

Ok should check spelling obv meant meconium in the waters and in a lazy bitch not butch Hmm

PurplePidjin · 10/07/2012 07:24

Bubless, I'm off to the local Midwife Led Unit is that an option for you?

Dp has an interview at 10 and the dr is ringing me at 4 so a day of nail-biting and trying not to cry when it all goes tits up chez Pidj.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/07/2012 07:29

Ah it'll be ok pidj Smile

stacey hope you managed to get back to sleep

I'm off out for breakfast with a friend this morning yum! Although it's a posh café that charges £7 for some toast Hmm

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/07/2012 07:52

Fingers crossed for you and dp pidj.

I got back to sleep eventually but im still knackered! Wish I could just have some energy tbh.

Clarella · 10/07/2012 08:37

fingers crossed for both Pidg, I think HFAM is ok but hoping doc says so too.

Ahh poor wee thing Stacey, hope he gets better soon. Very much admire anyone who is doing this with 1, 2 or more children already!

Welcome back mwahmwah!

Bubbless, it will be so different when baby is here, everyone will fall instantly in love with him/her!

Well bump has arrived, as confirmed by it being a hand magnet at yoga last night. So peculiar, people I have never spoken to were touching it! Was doing bridge against a wall while everyone else flailing their legs about and was quite taken aback at it hanging down near my nose. My yoga teacher is definately very clucky, and he's very mystical, kept saying he could feel extra nrg coming from me (yeah right!) I think I definately went through a big stretching phase last week which kept me up at night and was really tweaky. Will have to put a pic up.

Hope all have good days today x

StrawberrytallCAKE · 10/07/2012 09:38

I would like a home birth and can have one now consultant has re-labelled be low risk (woo hoo). My only issue is that if for some reason the baby needs help breathing it would take seconds to get help in a hospital and much longer at home..it would have me a bit panicky during labour and it i would rather keep as calm as possible and have any help I need nearby. Last time I begged them to let me go after 6 hours and I now realise that was a huge mistake, if I can I will be staying overnight too.

I've been feeling so down over the last week since dh lost his contract and not coping at all, I couldn't bring myself to go to yoga. It wouldn't be so bad if it were the first time but it is the 3rd in 3 years and it feels like when he loses his job I lose mine, I like to have just me and dd at home and we have our routine but when he is here I rely on what he is doing to decide what we are doing. Sorry if this makes no sense and completely ignore it as I just need a rant and a bit of a cry.

PurplePidjin · 10/07/2012 10:03

5 in 8 months here

OP posts:
Clarella · 10/07/2012 10:22

Sorry to hear that Strawb - do you mean you lose your role/routine at home or you have lost your jobs at the same time? I do understand either way and not surprised you feel down, Pidge, Strawb and anyone else going through this its hard enough having all the usual preg worries without that on top. Biscuit Brew DH lost his job 18 months ago and is self employed at the mo which is going ok but feels precarious so I can only imagine how stressful it is. Fingers crossed things get better soon xx

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 10/07/2012 11:14

Can't stop being sick today :( was really hoping to get the housework done but when I'm being suck this much it makes me go really dizzy etc.

Oh straw and pidj I feel for you, I really can't imagine how stressful it must be.

itsMYNutella · 10/07/2012 11:28

Stacey I hope your little one gets better soon. My younger brother was the one who, when he was ill, always had an ear infection and I can remember him crying in the night when it was really bad. :(

Clarella I wonder if a stretching phase is what's I'm going through at the mo. Hadn't really though about it; at night I can't get comfortable, during the day I've had a few pains but not that many... Hmm also seem to be waking up a lot :( gave up the other night and got up and read for almost an hour then tried to sleep again.

Strawb this is the place to moan :) hope you feel better getting things off your chest.

CODwidow · 10/07/2012 11:38

strawb I know exactly what you mean I have a certain routine and jobs I get done but when dh is home all that seems to go out the window. Sometimes it actually seems easier when he's not here as all my jobs and the boys schoolwork get done.

CautiousOptimist · 10/07/2012 11:52

Morning all. Sorry to hear about people coping with redundancies, I can't imagine how stressful that must be on top of pregnancy-related worries.

I woke up feeling really dizzy this morning. Not sick exactly, just a spinning head. I staggered into work and it's gone now. Weird.

The strange 'twitchy' feeling I have been having low in my stomach on and off for the last couple of weeks is back now. The doctor who did my scan last week told me it was too early to be feeling movement, but from what others have been saying on here he might be wrong Grin I hope so.

Wow, this is actually, really happening isn't it?!

StrawberrytallCAKE · 10/07/2012 12:26

pidjin I would love a glass of wine too, or a bottle. It'll be ok right? When we've got our babies we'll look back and say wow that was shit.

Clarella I am a sahm so rely on dh quite a lot, COD I love dh but I absolutely hate him being at home, weekends are lovely but there are things to get done and I can't play loudly with dd when he's on the phone to recruiters all day.

Cautious thats how I first felt the baby, little flicks and twitches not bubbles or flutters.

I am so constipated too...boo hoo. Just drank half a carton of pear juice, a plate of asparagus and i've got a cup of hot lemon water.

PurplePidjin · 10/07/2012 12:42

We just need one full time income min. 15k to be stable. Luckily, dp starts permanently on Monday at the place he was temping for - the one he didn't get paid for because the agency went bust. It's cycling distance so no transport costs, yay!

Strawberry, I'm not much of a drinker. But about halfway down the second glass at a gig with mates, all the shit becomes sooooo much less important for a little while. It's that i need rather than the actual Wine iyswim

Prunes and dried apricots Wink

Strawb my DP was away last week from Wed - late Friday and I got loads done :) everything was so tidy... Lasted about half an hour until after he got home.
Although it was lovely to have him back and snuggle :o

Oh and lots of fluids and fruits... Possibly a coffee?

WeeJo08 · 10/07/2012 13:11

Sorry to hear all the job woes :( Not what anybody needs. Hoping for lottery wins all round. Hmmm, must buy a ticket!

Having some good little twitchy flicky movements which is very exciting! Also, my friend has lent me her Angel Sounds fetal heart rate monitor so last night DH had our first at-home audio performance from our little shnarf Grin

Stacey Hope your DS's ear clears up soon. I was plagued by ear infections and they're so painful :( I spent a lot of evenings glued to a hot water bottle!

Pidj Just a quick one...do you know any how-to-crochet videos on You Tube that you would recommend? I have finally got my crochet hook! Thinking I'd like to try a scarf and maybe a blanket....v simple ones of course! :)

Also...did I read right that Stacks you re also a knitter? Grin

ISpyPlumPie · 10/07/2012 14:03

Ok starting to get nervous now - just over an hour until I leave for my scan! Had a reallly busy morning, so not had much chance to think about it yet but starting to count the minutes now.

PurplePidjin · 10/07/2012 14:21

Jo, look up The Art Of Crochet By Theresa aka Crochet Geek :)

OP posts:
Clarella · 10/07/2012 14:38

ispy all the best! I'm getting nerves for flipping Thursdays 20 wk scan - its at 11 so I booked my blood test at the docs, going jean shopping for DH and having a coffee all before so I'm kept busy!

Nice to hear of more flicks :) weejo

Strawb imo sahm is one of the hardest jobs there is along with single mum, partly for that reason, (relying on DH) and partly as its the only 24hr job. A close friend made the decision to be a sahm as her DH could earn both their salaries through various doctor/gp/contract routes but only if she took complete control of the house and child rearing. He's since been diagnosed bipolar and she's even more of the driving force now as at times is practically his carer in order to help him work, meaning her emotional needs get a back seat. She's always always viewed and approached her role as a job (he does pay her as she manages his schedule) and I simply admire her so much, and all you sahm's.

Feel that 'hangover sick I need to eat lots of cheese' thing I had earlier on in pregnancy today not happy! Trying to squint at a report that will need to be done in Oct to get ahead and realising I may have mentioned the impact of the magical effect of biscuits on a pupil's progress to comply with requests a little too much :/

Lactulose - though nothing put in now will help what's stuck down there till its out!

FriendofDorothy · 10/07/2012 14:42

Fybogel is the only thing that has worked for me!
