Whoop, brand new shiny thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
PrunellaDeVille · 09/07/2012 14:00

i'm not finding out.
ellie those sleepsuits are adorable and definitely unisex imo

emilyeggs · 09/07/2012 14:06

knottyhair clarella stwarberrytallcake bellaboo and others thanks for your wishes, scan went well. Couldn't find the cause of the bleed but it's stopped now and saw little bubu wriggling all over the place (even got some pics to take home) Grin. Looks a lot different from the twelve week scan (and that was only three weeks a go!). I can stop worrying now and get in with the day! GrinGrin

annelid · 09/07/2012 14:46

Good idea Spotty!

Is anyone here planning to have a homebirth?

knottyhair · 09/07/2012 14:46

To Stacey and others who've heard heartbeats, lovely news! Emily glad all is OK and that you saw your little one Smile.

Stacks · 09/07/2012 14:47

So glad you had a positive scan emily, and still thinking of you mini.

For those of you saying you've not bought anything yet - neither have I. It just seems too early, and not in a superstitious or pessimistic way, just storing everything for months seems impractical! We're putting money aside to spend on baby things rather than buying anything, and I'm doing lots of research and thinking (and stealing people's lists).

We're getting a new kitchen put in in the middle of Aug, I think I'll take that as a bit of a 'start' date. I'll start properly cleaning out the 'spare' bedroom and start making it into a nursery. Once the room is empty I'm going to wash the carpet, then decorate then start buying things. I'd say my shopping will start in Sept. Just think it'll be so much nicer to put baby clothes into the baby's drawers in a real nursery, rather than into a box under the bed.

I maybe thought I perhaps felt 'twinkle' move over the weekend. I was sitting on the sofa knitting and watching TV when it felt like being flicked from inside. Had it again the next night too, so could be. As I'm not certain though, I'm not getting too excited. I want to know for sure before I start telling people and dedicating hours to sitting still and feeling it.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2012 14:57

Stacks I usually feel a little bit of movement just after dinner time, the same time each day, so it sounds like it!

emily that's great news, can't wait for my next scan, whilst also being really nervous they have to do a special heart flow check thingy on the baby.

ellie I love those sleepsuits! Would dress a boy or girls in them quite happily.

Stacey your poor ds, that sounds horrible hopefully the AB's will work quickly.

Strawberry I'm glad you feel my pain, there's no coriander in the wrap, unlike the pita, and I had overloaded on coleslaw the day before and being so thirsty really fancied a salad! I'm still really annoyed

minipie · 09/07/2012 16:05

thanks stacks and everyone else - finally managed to speak to hospital (couldn't get midwife team so called delivery ward!) and they have told me to come to hospital asap to get checked out. Off I go, I guess! I'm pretty sure it'll be nothing as I've been having small bleeds since 6 weeks, but best to get checked out.

itsMYNutella · 09/07/2012 16:12

Queen and Stacey I want to join your not knowing club, I'm having the mystery flavour pudding please :)

Great news emily! So good to hear you're totally reassured too :o

Fingers crossed for you mini!!

We've got an appointment at the Doc's later today. Since DP took advantage of their Ultrasound package we get an extra scan today :o Will put the pick up when we get back.

Cakebump I don't know if you've had the same problem, but I've been searching for maternity pads (i.e. mega post birth sanitary towels) and apparently they are sometimes provided by the hospital but are otherwise stored next to nappies in very inconspicuous packaging.
Also we found out Rossman (sorry for product placement) has a voucher type scheme available for baby products. Totally free and you get some goodies. I'm going to look around see what else I can find :o... definitely advantages to being in a country which still has a falling birth rate.... now I just need to take advantage of them!!

ellliebelle · 09/07/2012 16:12

emily great news about scan :) thanks all those who have reassured me the babygrows are good for boy or girl :) i wont be buying much unisex stuff as i know ill want them dressed as a boy or girl maybe 3 more bright coloured ones then plain white fir bed time i love a freshly bathed baby in a white babygrow :)
anne i really want a home birth dh is on the fence a little but ive got him a book to read from a dads perspective and we will be going to a talk about it closer to the time. Are you planning one?

knottyhair · 09/07/2012 16:14

Good luck Mini.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2012 16:17

Hope all goes well mini

Clarella · 09/07/2012 17:37

Hope all is well mini

Great news Emily :)

Ditto vague house plan stacks! I imagine it will be october for us! Hmm Grin
I would have described my first movements as being flicked from inside :) - My friend said they were probably my own muscle twitches as I was 16 weeks but they still feel like that and now strong enough for DH to feel, like an actual kick. I am only now feeling anything remotely bubble like!

HoneyMum21 · 09/07/2012 18:39

Uggh, fed up and confused. Woke up on saturday with a sore eye which got progressively more irritated so went to the pharmacy yesterday to get some Brolene but he wasn't sure about it's use in pregnancy. After researching it online it seemed like it should be ok so DH picked some up for me and it was feeling a bit better by this morning, but as i wasn't totally sure about the drops i booked in to see the nurse practitioner this afternoon who prescribed me chloramphenicol instead of using the Brolene as she thought it would clear up the infection quicker. However, the info leaflet said i def shouldn't be using chloramphenicol when pregnant and having googled it i'm even more certain that i shouldn't use it. However i phoned the surgery to double check and she said it was fine (and sounded somewhat annoyed that i'd doubted her) so i really don't know what to do. Grrrrr. Just confused now.

Bellaboo123 · 09/07/2012 18:45

Good luck mini fingers crossed all is well.

Great news Emily.

I'd describe the feeling the same and it's usually about 9ish when I'm relaxing. It's been a couple of nights running so I think it might actually be movement!

Hope everyone is ok!

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2012 18:46

Umm can you ask your midwife or another HCP? Or go to a pharmacy and ask the pharmacist. They will have a C&D book which is the same as drs use, that should say. After a quick google I wouldn't want to use it either....

HoneyMum21 · 09/07/2012 18:51

Thanks Spotty - think will carry on with the Brolene drops tonight nd iif it's not better go and ask the pharmacist tomorrow

SpottyTeacakes · 09/07/2012 18:54

I don't think they've been available for long, I know you can buy them over the counter now but that only happened about six or seven years ago so not long wrt medicines. I hope your eye feels better soon Smile

ISpyPlumPie · 09/07/2012 20:00

Great news about the scan Emily. Hope everything goes well for you too Mini.

Anelid - I'm seriously considering a home birth. I had hoped to attend the homebirth group they run in our area as we've got millions of questions, but DS had chickenpox when the last one was on so we didn't make it. The next one's not until September, but have managed to speak to the mw about it in quite a bit of detail now. I think I'm going to provisionally book it when I next see her in August. Think it's easier doing it this way then cancelling if I decide to go to hosptial after all than deciding to have a hb at the last minute.

mwahmwah · 09/07/2012 20:49

Hello everyone, just back from two blissful weeks in the sun, morning sickness disappeared but back with a vengance the moment the plane hit the tarmac. Bollocks.

CODwidow · 09/07/2012 21:10

3 weeks today and we'll know if bump is pink or blue, the kids are so excited Smile

PurplePidjin · 09/07/2012 21:15

And now i find out I've been in contact with q child with hand, foot and mouth.

I am in bed and have eaten an entire 100g bar of Cote D'Or. At least now i feel sick from chocolate instead of worry Hmm

OP posts:
CODwidow · 09/07/2012 21:19

I'm really undecided about a home birth one minute I'd like to then I think I'd rather leave the 'mess' at the hospital Blush I know I have plenty of time to decide but I'm not sure I'll ever be totally sure.

EggsMichelle · 09/07/2012 21:31

Glad to hear all is well with emily, mini have you been checked yet? A friend of mine had a lot of bleeding through her pregnancy, low lying placenta, which she was prescribed rest and no rushing about!!! She has a very gorgeous 15m old now, who I adore (and might have been a persuading factor in me getting pregnant!!!)

So far we have bought a chest of draws and a blanket. Been given a bag of clothes, but can't concider buying anything big until 30wks, I'm still very scared of things going wrong. Silly anxiety! It also means im completely clueless about pushchairs and am completely baffled about all the brands.

My mw refused to listen for a hb, said they dont do it until 25wks, luckily my mother is also a mw, so got to listen to the hb in my living room instead! And if it wasn't for my oddly shaped belly first thing in the morning, I wouldn't believe I was pregnant, no symptoms. Even the movements I thought I was feeling were probably wind!!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 09/07/2012 21:31

I want a home birth but DH has completely vetod it with a what if something happens speech that I've given up on it. Fingers crossed I can get in the birth centre!

Welcome back mwahmwah hope you had a great holiday!

EggsMichelle · 09/07/2012 21:46

I wouldn't want a home birth, my animals are impossible already, they would insist in being involved!
