Thank you! I am really pleased with it - I hope she likes it. My Mum made one for me last Christmas and I adore mine, so I wanted to make one for my friend. I am thinking of taking a crochet class but then again maybe I should just stick to YouTube - it worked when I was learning to knit (along with some advice from my Mum!) and I mostly figured it out for myself. I'm not the speediest but I don't really mind. I just had a look at your projects! Wow! Pidjchick is going to look gorgeous! Such beautiful clothes! How long did each take you?

PurplePidjin · 05/07/2012 11:46

Thanks, it's more about stash busting and skintness in my case Blush

I do a 3 hour knit and natter x2 per week (when no temp jobs) so a cardi takes one of those plus a bit more at home. The trousers were longer because i had to work out a pattern - they've got extra rows in the back to accommodate a cloth bum :) I'll be quicker next time!

Great shopping result Pidg! We've been looking at the hauck ones at boots (no isofix plus Mum has saved £100 on her boots card and offered to donate!). Apart from price, 4 wheels and colour, what do you reckon the difference between the viper and the malibu is?

Clarella · 05/07/2012 13:04

yikes one week today right now we will have had our 20 wk scan!!!!

PurplePidjin · 05/07/2012 13:52

I need big off-road wheels. I live a mile from the beach, 3 miles from my parents ant 4 miles from the New Forest. Plus, while town has lovely smooth pavements, most are a lovely tarmac/tree root mix. Some places (eg the route to the local footie ground dp would like to walk PidjChick to on a saturday afternoon, some of his running club routes) don't have pavements. So 3 wheel jogging-style is going to suit me better than anything with the little trolley wheels! Our bus service is shit, and the trains are well equipped for the local aging population so public transport isn't an issue, especially as dp gets the train to work so I'll have car access.

It depends what suits your lifestyle. Identify what you want to do, then find a product to fit iyswim :)

PS 1 week tomorrow I'll be setting off for mine! :o

Ah didn't notice the larger wheels. That's what I cant work out really but there is the metro into town or even walking it. Local shops are extremely near. There is also the beach but Im thinking if we go out and about we really want a good sling/backpack for DH, and I deffo want a sling too.

Time is flying! I'm quite nervous about next week's scan, but also excited :).

After the higgs boson stuff im really thinking about collecting various paper cuttings cos this baby is really missing all the action at the moment (jubilee, olympics etc etc!)

StrawberrytallCAKE · 05/07/2012 14:50

That's a really nice idea Clarella a friend of mine made a basket with a wine from the year dd was born, top selling single, magazines, newspaper stories and lots of other year appropriate stuff. It was my favourite present. A scrap book with clippings would be ace.

PurplePidjin · 05/07/2012 15:00

Will you mostly use the car or public transport? Do you live in town or rural, and what condition are the pavements? Can you/will you walk to the essentials - clinics/groups, family/friends, food shops/bank? Do you regularly walk/run for pleasure, and what's the surface like?

I will mostly use the car so need 1 hand fold and car seat. I'm semi rural and pavements are crap, so need off road more than lightness of pushing. I walk to all the essentials, parents are furthest at 3 miles away, so need something tough with storage. I want to walk for fitness and dp runs. I also have 22 concrete steps between the street and the flats - i need to get everything up in one go, so baby in sling and shopping bumped up in buggy.

If i lived in a big town and didn't drive, I'd get something totally different! Ditto if rural and had to drive everywhere...

No can't see me using the car on a daily basis, will probably change docs to a local one and everything we need is on easy reach by foot. I suppose we do like to go out places (eg countryside, beaches, woods) but I reckon definately those will be sling/backpack. Id jog when DH is in and pavements for nice local walks are ok. still may simply get something off eBay for the winter months possibly getting something else later on.

More scrap book ideas include - transit of Venus and locally, 'the great tyneside flood' (as its known) and also 'the great tyneside flood #2' if the weather forecast to be believed! Oh and a panda cub was born today somewhere :)

SpottyTeacakes · 05/07/2012 17:47

I want to wait for the city jogger versa to come out before I make a final decision but it will probably be a bit too expensive for dp us so will go for the Mutsy Evo Smile

Cookiesandcream06 · 05/07/2012 18:58

I really want an iCandy DP told me where to go. And I know they're a lot of money. But I feel like whatever I want won't be as good. A friend has Quinny Buzz but it only seems to get slated on here, it is on offer for 299 at the mo though so it's got DP vote now.

SpottyTeacakes · 05/07/2012 18:59

Cookies there are loads of iCandy's on gumtree

Cookiesandcream06 · 05/07/2012 19:02

Oops sent before I was ready, deff story time for DD now, I'm tiring of fighting her off me!

Oh and Pigj do you need special crochet needles etc?? I need fully educating. I'm coming to the end of the Fifty Shades trilogy and don't know what I'll do with myself in the evenings when DP is out at the gym now?! Oh and no I doubt you're very far from me Smile

pmgkt · 05/07/2012 21:05

pidjin - i have a phil and teds with Ds1 and when we go out to the new forest we have no problems, I have an older model and the new one has ironned out the downsides to the one i have. officially it is not for jogging with, but i have done a little bit and it is ok. As you do a lot of off road it would be a good option, shops do seem to want to push more expensive models but i have always found it great value for money too.

I live in Fareham so a pourtsmouth meet would suit me too if anyone fancies it.

kate2boysandabump · 05/07/2012 21:22

Pidj so lucky in the sales, DH and I are attempting shopping again this weekend, I bet I won't get as lucky.

Stacey sorry you're still felling sick.

Spotty I feel a bit ill too now.

Is anyone else feeling really clumsy? I've smashed 2 glasses and a mug in the last week, as I've misjudged distances and dropped them. We'll have no dishes left come December Blush

I'm going for the iCandy apple jogger. We have dogs so need something that will go offroad and I walk to and from school everyday, so need something that is quite sturdy and up to the job. We're having it with the carrycot, so that the baby will be protected from the elements in the winter months. I'm not really into travel systems, the car seat will probably just stay in the car, so I'm not looking for a chassis that takes a car seat either, which made the choices a bit easier. We are very lucky that our parents are going halves on the pram, which is our biggest purchase. We're going to order it this weekend, I'm very excited Grin but not as much as DH, who has told his mated he can't go to the pub for that afternoon as we're 'ordering our pram'!!! Shock He's a good 'un.

I had a Mama's and Papa's pramette last time, which was fab and as we didn't have dogs then it was fine. It's also built to last too, I have a friend who has been using hers for 10 years!!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 05/07/2012 21:29

My msg just disappeared into cyberspace but the just was there is a small person fidgeting inside my belly Grin

PrunellaDeVille · 05/07/2012 21:58

aw Grin stacey. i've got a fidgetter too, it's been making me Smile all day

itsMYNutella · 05/07/2012 22:04

Awwww Stacey and Prunella I'm so happy for you both :o I felt something a few days ago but nothing since.
My Mum rang me today to see how I was and asked me to give the bump a rub from her :o

MyDaydream · 05/07/2012 22:17

Kate I'm very clumsy but more walking into things than dropping things.
Stacey I can't wait to have a proper fidgetter rather than an occasional swayer. Will make me very happy.
MIL came round today, did all my gardening and bought baby stuff. I'd have been happy with just the garden but coming home to little booties was quite nice.

PurplePidjin · 05/07/2012 23:00

Cookies, you need a crochet hook in a size to match your wool, but if we're starting from scratch I'll look up where to buy stuff like that in Salisbury - there's meant to be a Jojo Maman Bebe and a good pram shop there??

Pmgkt, we do need a Pompey meet! Let me get my finances under control and we'll see (or go ahead and organise and i'll comebif i can) :o

I don't know if what I'm feeling is baby moving or wind! They are like little pops of movement I guess...

Good news is the evil vomiting shivers possibly UTI related have abated. Now seem to have heartburn though (poss brought on by upset tummy). Any good treatment suggestions gratefully received!

Re: buggies, the one I've been offered is I think a bugaboo gecko which they no longer make. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is the non adjustable handle height as I have a giant DH.

SpottyTeacakes · 06/07/2012 05:15

Ivana you need some Gaviscon. If that doesn't work ask the doctor for Omeprazole but it should do the trick. I'm suffering too it's not nice!

brooke89 · 06/07/2012 07:41

Ivana I thought mine was wind but it's got stronger! I think it feels like a twitch just above my pubic bone!

Stacks · 06/07/2012 08:42

Went to my MW appointment yesterday day, and all is good. Heartbeat heard, which was a great relief :)

Honey I asked about movement and she said its too early. I wont feel anything till at least 20w. I think that's probably just to stop people worrying, but it must also mean its normal not to feel anything yet.
