Hello Cautious

Cookies, is Salisbury near enough to you for a crochet cake meet up? It won't take long to show you enough to get started, then youtube is your friend!

Mumsnet is my "all about pregnancy" social story :)

"Some days you will feel completely fine. Some days you will feel like utter crap and cry a lot. This is ok. (other adult directive:) DH will do lots of things to help out and make you feel less crap. When you feel crap you might choose to rant on mumsnet. DH will be glad that you have done this rather than rant at him and he will be very pleased. Well done!"

The second smiley is supposed to be a colon and a bracket

pmgkt · 04/07/2012 18:45

Isofix is a fixing in your car which is built into your car so you use that, not a seat belt to fasten the car seat in place. Not all cars have it so do check before you buy. All cars after a certain date (08 plate I think but could be wrong) have it as standard. My car doesn't (55 plate) but I have always used a base and been more than happy with it. I think isofix usually cost more

itsMYNutella · 04/07/2012 18:59

ahhhh my Student just left and it felt so good to take off my trousers! :o

Pidj I wish I could pop over for crochet lessons, :( I too have peeked at your pics, am so jealous!!

Hope you feel much better soon Ivana! I've seen the effects of a UTI and know it can really take you off your feet, so you take care!!

And thank you everyone for all the lists and ideas, they are all brilliant!!!

PurplePidjin · 04/07/2012 19:02

Sometimes women get pregnant. I have chosen to be pregnant. When women are pregnant, they feel lots of different things. Sometimes they might feel good. Sometimes they might feel ill. Sometimes they might feel angry.

When I am pregnant I might feel any of these things. It is ok to feel these things. When i feel these things, i should go on Mumsnet to let these feelings out.

When i do this, dh will bring me tea and chocolate

Maybe I should do custom cardies. Trouble is, I'd need to charge about £50 each to make it anywhere near viable!

itsMYNutella · 04/07/2012 19:13

Damn my DP is away until Friday :( no-one to bring me (fruity) tea and chocolate/biscuits.
But then there is no-one to stop me having chips and breakfast cereal for dinner (not together!) :o
Pidj do you mean grown up size cardies or baby cardies?

PurplePidjin · 04/07/2012 19:22

Baby ones! Grown up ones would run into hundreds, it takes forfreakingever!! A 0-6m size takes me about 5 hours Shock

Will post a pic of the three I've done so far :)

Ivana Much sympathy about the UTI. I was hospitalised with one when I was having ds2. I was so delirious I put on my winter coat to go to the doctor's that day, it was May and 25 degrees Blush

Cautious hello and welcome.

I also didn't use isofix for the first 2 and the car seat we have doesn't use it either. I'll probably use it when we get the next car seat size up.

I've started knitting too. I'm making a stripy blanket in rainbow colours, I'll try and post a pic when it's finished, but don't expect that to be anytime soon!!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/07/2012 19:29

When I said isofix I didn't mean the built into the car ones just the car seat base which stays in the car. Sorry if I'm confused Blush

itsMYNutella · 04/07/2012 19:37

Pidj Shock blimey. But I'm also very impressed!

I love people's pics :o Someone was asking about pics, I have scan pics up (and a massive nutella jar :) ) no bump pictures yet.... I really need to do some shopping!

PurplePidjin · 04/07/2012 19:40

Woolly pic now up. I don't do 5 hours straight 3 hours at knitting group that's in between mning, watching tv, doing housework etc. If i concentrated, probably 3.5...

pmgkt · 04/07/2012 20:15

i agrre with spotty about needing the base, it is a life saver and the car seat feels so much more secure. you can get them with or without isofix, and are very easy to switch between cars (well my maxi cosi one is) so dont worry about getting one for each car.

Clarella · 04/07/2012 20:21

Shit yes I forgot first person pidg. Been off work too bloody long!

acjfluff · 04/07/2012 20:57

V jealous of knitting/crochet skills!! I'm not crafty at all (in the good sense). A lovely lady who does supply work at my school is knitting me a cardigan so baby will have 1 hand made item!

I had cuddles with my friend's week old baby today. I'm now super broody and even more scared than I was! What on earth do you do with a baby?!!

PurplePidjin · 04/07/2012 21:25

Clarella, I'm a good few years out of practice - adults don't need 'em!

Acj, you stick the nappy on the smelly end and your boob in the noisy end. I think Confused

ISpyPlumPie · 04/07/2012 21:31

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new posters Smile.

Starting to get a bit stressed about the fact I haven't bought anything yet. It's mainly because we are reusing most things from last time but think this DC deserves a shopping spree of his/her own fairly soon!

I would second what others have said about carseat bases. It is so much easier just being able to click it into place with the green indicator to let you know it's in properly. I'm pretty inept at anything vaguely practical so I know I'd have been worried about fitting it properly otherwise.

Anyway, best get an early night as we're going away tomorrow - it's my friend's wedding on Friday. Just hoping the bridesmaid's dress is still ok with newly expanded bump!

Bellaboo123 · 04/07/2012 21:37

Evening every one - wow you've been chatty!

Spotty & mini thanks for the advise feeling so much more organised now. Glad in not alone thinking all this baby stuff was another language...thought I was the inky one who thought what the hell is an isofix lol!

Ivana hope your feeling better...uti's are horrid. Someone said they are more common when carrying a boy - don't know how much truth is in it!

3 more sleeps to find out girl or boy!

Stacks · 04/07/2012 22:20

I got the wrong day for my midwife appointment! Even had DH take today off, and I worked from home. My notes, my calendar and my phone all say the appointment is tomorrow. No idea how I got so mixed up :(

I'll have to go along on my own tomorrow now, as DH can't get another day off without giving notice. I just hope there's no problems, and am sad DH won't get to hear the heartbeat.

A note on dummies, I watched a couple of breast feeding videos today, and they said dummies can make breast feeding harder. The baby doesn't suck as well, and you may not pick up on the signs they are hungry (sucking motions and looking for the breast) as the baby has something to suck already. Just a thought for first timers. I have nothing against dummies, just passing on what I learned.

NewRowSees · 04/07/2012 22:23

Hi all, can I join you please? I had what I thought was my 12 week scan yesterday, and it turned out I'm 14+5! So due December 28th, which is lovely. And it also means I'll have 2 under 2 for a month or so - joy of joys!

I've already bought one of those lifelike baby dolls, to get my son used to the idea, and he adores it already! Hoping we won't have any jealousy issues, but looking forward to hearing how those of you with 2 or more coped.

I'm planning on crocheting a baby blanket (nothing too fancy as my crochet skills don't stretch that far), but knitting is waay too difficult for me.

Hope everyone's feeling as fab as can be :)
