Bellaboo123 · 04/07/2012 12:46

ooooh where are you north london ladies...i'm herts but really north london borders...and actually a north londoner at heart who's just moved further out

SeymoreButts · 04/07/2012 12:52

Whoop! I found the new thread! I look like a christmas pudding at the moment so it's quite apt. I've been told 3 times today that I have "popped". I hope it starts to slow down now.

I'm really sorry to read all the stressful news about jobs and pay. I really hope it all works out very soon. Sad

This is going to sound weird, but I think I need to post it because it's playing on my mind more and more and I don't want to mention it to DH. Is anyone else who's having their second (or third etc.) child feeling much more anxious than the first time? I am quite scared that something is going to "happen" to me in labour and that I am going to leave my beautiful DCs behind. It sounds morbid and crazy doesn't it? Is it a normal mum thing or not?

WeeDot · 04/07/2012 13:06

Hello all.

sorry to hear of bad news, hope all works out

SpottyTeacakes · 04/07/2012 13:57

ivanapoo · 04/07/2012 14:59

Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm MNing from my sick bed.

That list is bloody scary a(nd I LOVE shopping...) So much to buy!

We are being given a cot, pushchair, car seat and a few other bits by relatives whose kids are a bit older now which is great and my BF says she's going to buy us a bouncer. A friend works for a lovely baby bedding company so can prob get cheap or free stuff from her. In other words, I'm on the blag! ;)

Not going to buy any toys as I'll know we'll be given loads, so that leaves basket, clothes, muslins, nappies and stuff for me basically.

Are you all getting changing tables etc? Or just using existing furniture for baby?

SpottyTeacakes · 04/07/2012 15:10

We had a nice cot top changer from kiddicare, saved my back, think it was about £25/30.

Are you feeling any better ivana?

Clarella · 04/07/2012 15:17

Hi all,
Welcome Cautious and congratulations!

Feeling generally more positive today about school - was a little worried going back in last week of term due to a child being very off the rails and now obsessed with my teaching assistant (who also finds it hard to do any tough love) which is potentially quite dangerous as he can really hurt people when he blows (age 10, very big boy). Then this morn I found out she was going into hospital for a kidney biopsy and so not there in the last week. (she's really not been well plus all the stress of holding the fort for 2 and half months) Head didn't actually know this when I rang but then thankfully they can claim insurance to pay for the current teacher (who's known them for years) and me as well as cover my teaching assistant if it says phased supported return - phew. Luckily she's put thyroid on sicknote too (even though I'm fine now!) I've got to rebond with them and help them understand whats happening in september for all to run as smoothly as possible - we're getting a new boy with PND who is apparently 'very verbal' (hoping this just means swears a lot rather than anything physical) and there will only be me and one teaching assistant with the 5 (supposed to be 2:1) hoping it doesn't stress the rest out too much again, they've only just recovered from a similar child they were with last year.

Basically though if he's tough and anyone is getting hurt the school will have to either provide more support or put me elsewhere. Usually we are such an Aladin's cave for these kids they settle pretty quickly. I know this is going to stress me out though :(. Guess Ive just got to speak up. Bloody ofsted due too ffs (hence laminator). I will be emphasising my bump out alot when they're in! I apologise in advance for all the swearing I will be doing in September and will try not to moan, at the very least I have a job. Really hope all the horrid job worries gets sorted soon, fingers crossed.

Clarella · 04/07/2012 15:19

Yes how are you Ivana? I've only had a uti once but I was quite delirious with it! Hope its being battled now x

ivanapoo · 04/07/2012 15:19

Great idea Spotty hadn't seen those, something like that would be perfect.

Thanks for asking, bit better but I'm still feeling pretty ropey tbh, just beyond exhausted, achy and just rubbish. The puking seems to have stopped though which is good... I feel like it's my comeuppance for not being sick in first tri ;)

ivanapoo · 04/07/2012 15:24

Glad you're feeling a bit better about work Clarella, it sounds like a really demanding job so make sure you put yourself first at least some if the time.

Clarella · 04/07/2012 15:42

Well I suppose we were terrified of one particular child last september but pretty soon found his motivators (biscuits, electricity, gloop, piano and biscuits) and he's now putty and actually the easiest in the class. (his favourite activity is now writing about the death of Pat Evans, King George and all about what the queen wore thoughout the jubilee, bless) We just don't need him reverting to his old ways, which was all stress linked due to another very disturbed child. This new child is just out of mianstream so I shall be raiding all the local charity shops for age appropriate motivators! (STILL not buying baby stuff!) (The rest love thomas the tank and noddy)

JoJoB77 · 04/07/2012 16:16

Afternoon and welcome to the new ladies, i'm sorry i'm being a bit impersonal, am on my phone Smile

I had 16 week check with midwife today, all is well & got to hear babys heartbeat which was lovely. Nothing beats that sound does it! She did mention that my placenta is at the front so that explains my lack of/faint movements. So for those who are concerned about movements it ciuld be the positioning of the placenta.

Thats it now until a home visit at 25 weeks just after i return from Cyprus. Cannot wait, this weather is starting to get me down now Sad

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/07/2012 16:16

ivana i hope you are feeling better. clarella yes please look after yourself, all sounds hectic. I got to work and cried this morning, just because! Infront of customers too. Oh you've got to love hormones. Welcome and congratulations cautious lovely to have you here :). Loving these shopping lists bellaboo i've made a start on mine, i'm a serial shopper and I've got lots on (inc Xmas obvs) and am a crap saver so I'm buying some bits each month to spread the cost. Knowing its another DD is useful as I have a load of pink stuff hauded in the loft so that's a good few things I can cross off.

Oh and inside gossip if anyone is interested - the Next sale starts on the 14th, so good opportunity to get some bargains ( i would get there v early to get the sizes you want).

I think I have successfully uploaded some scan pics?! Does anyone else have any up??

PurplePidjin · 04/07/2012 16:18

Quick phone post to let you know - Next over bump maternity jeans rang up at £14 instead of £28! Bargain!

Also, gorgeous raspberry pink cotton jumper in Gap for a tenner :o

ps pidj I just snooped on your pics and your crocheting is so good! I really want to start as I want to make some blankets but I never seem to find the time/energy :(

Good news jojo I love love love hearing that heartbeat, so reassuring :)

CautiousOptimist · 04/07/2012 17:18

Thanks for the welcome everyone. These lists are great, so helpful. As people have started shopping, I just thought I'd share this link to a guide by NCT and Which? with info about baby equipment:

www.nct.org.uk/features/which-guide

I haven't had a proper look yet, but it might be helpful.

bella I'm in Hornsey in Haringey but moving to Kent in the next couple of months.

HoneyMum21 · 04/07/2012 17:38

Trying not to panic seeing everything we need down in black and white! My lists so far have not been quite so comprehensive! Is the Isofix base essential?

Welcome Cautious

Still exhausted - having thyroid test done tomorrow but apparently even if there is a problem they won't do anything for at least 3 months to see if it rectifies itself.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/07/2012 17:41

The isofix is essential if you use your car more than once a week IMO Smile

HoneyMum21 · 04/07/2012 17:48

We don't have our own car - will only be using carseat in grandparents cars. Do you think we can manage without the isofix?

SpottyTeacakes · 04/07/2012 17:49

Yes I definitely think you can, spent the £100 on something you will definitely use Smile

HoneyMum21 · 04/07/2012 17:51

Thanks Spotty:) I feel clueless sometimes! (and not much better most of the rest of the time!)

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/07/2012 17:58

I never had with isofix for the others, I have a base for this one but I don't think it's isofix. It never bothered me getting the car seat in and out the car before (but I was a teenager, lol)

Clarella · 04/07/2012 18:00

Honey, sorry, that sounds a little odd in my experience. Can revert after pregnancy. Please find out your tsh and if they've done them, your t4 (really should have but labs are 'a law unto themselves' at the moment my doctor told me today).

Now off to Google an 'isofix' ....
