Congratulations to everyone who had their scan! less than a week to go for mine now and I am starting to freak out a little (paranoia overload) but seeing you all get good news has been reassuring.

The bump and I measure a shade over 8 sheets of loo roll (what a wonderful measurement system!) but that is mostly donuts I think :) A couple of people have said that I don't show much yet (have I always looked this fat?!?)

love Entropy

bumpybel · 14/03/2006 22:27

Evening Ladies...

Wahoo wahoo wahoo... did my exam today... so no more revising and I can get on with enjoing being a big fatty!.. wont get my results for ages, but i dont care..., no more books!! Grin If i wasnt pg i'd be absoluely hammered by now!

Algach and HC... I'm a 9 squarer too!! Spub.. cant believe your measurements put you so far ahead... i thought i was going to grow an enormous baby, when they measured the legs at 5 days ahead! I was a lump of a baby as was dh, so i'm not expecting to give birth to a dainty little thing! Smile

Jersey, congrats on your boy and Pink on your girl... I'm a bit jealous of you guys all finding out the sex, but am also trying desperately to pretend that I'm not at all curious! My hosp dont tell you as a matter of course. My dad rang up to tell me he'd seen four magpies the other day! This is going to be first grandchild, so it's pretty major stuff!!!

HC you sound as if you live in a lovely countryside type area with herons diving into the pond etc! Hope things get a bit easier for you with meal times and pooing etc Smile

Annie... I always cry at the point of birth on those programmes! It's so wierd to get so emotional about something so gory, but its like automatic waterworks with me at the moment. Am dreading labour myself!

All this talk of cleaners is making me realise how much I've neglected the house lately... havent got the excuse of revising any more, so will have to knuckle down to some hardcore hoovering and dusting!

Sending lots of happy vibes to you hormonal lot! xxx

deblaca · 14/03/2006 22:32

had to check it out as soon as i read it - 7 and half sheets (now i've just been really sad and totted up the average sheet sizes and its 7.9 so far and you can do whatever you want with that useless bit of info)

great news about your scan HITC and jersey

and kbaby i sympathise with your building works we're in the middle of it also .... i sometimes worry that its not too good for baby to have me inhaling all the dust and stuff!!

and welcome clara

deblaca · 14/03/2006 22:34

crossed posts bumpybel you sound happy to be finished your exams (and rightly so!)

bumpybel · 14/03/2006 22:36

HITC... glad your scan went well Smile

SF what sort of dog have you got? You sound like a spaniel/ mixed breed, floppy eared dog sort of person Grin! (Not meaning to be offensive... I cant bear to iron and I'd love a dopey red setter)!

bumpybel · 14/03/2006 22:39

Deblaca I am happy! Wahooooooooooo! Measuring in loo roll sounds much better! Smile

HumphreysCorner · 14/03/2006 23:25

Evening girls

HITC-congrats on your scan and having a girl Grin ((xx))

jom-I am toilet training my DD (32 months) at the mo and it is quite a nightmare as I am no expert at this. We keep having v. good days and v.v. bad days. She has a nappy on for bed and if I go round town but for short journeys to nursery, friends and grandparents she doesn't have a nappy. Sending you all the luck in the world hun. ((xx))

bumpybel-bet you are sooooooooo relieved that your exam is over. Hope you get a good result. ((xx))

Must go to bed as shattered again so nighty night and hugs to all.

((xx))

Morning ladies,

Awake at 6.30 again this morning, I keep waking up early and the baby is kicking. DH can feel the kicks but are they strong enough to wake me up? (it happens every morning).

HITC - Congrats on your scan and your little girl, i'm glad everything went well.

HC - Hope you have a better day with DD. I'm sure you're a fabulous mummy (look at it this way, she's cheaper to keep! Grin).
Just ask yourself, does she look healthy, does she have the energy to run around and play?
I'm sure if you had any health concerns you'd be straight down the doc's with her. She's probably playing at being independent, in a bit she'll have a growth spurt and you wont be able to keep up with her eating! Keep smiling hon {{{hug}}}

Jom - It sounds like your'e doing a good job at the potty training, I haven't even started with DD2 yet who is 2 1/2. See how you feel regards play group. Every child has accidents when they are out and about pottytraining (DD1 wee'd in sunday school once). Just take a spare change of clothes. I'm sure DS will feel like a big grown up boy and really enjoy it. Let us know how it goes.

Bumpy- Congrats on your exam Grin. It must be such a nice feeling knowing that you dont have that hanging over you anymore.

Hello to everyone else and hope you all have a good day. Bye for now

jersey · 15/03/2006 09:15

HI congrats HINC on your scan results and your little girl.

Bumpy congrats on getting the exam out of the way, I have 3 more essays to do and finish the course I am on in 10 weeks. Next essay due in next week but not sure I'm going to make it at the moment Blush.

I also keep waking up due to a combination of DS waking early (3:30ish) and since bumpy is laying across me, I find laying on my side uncomfortable.

Re potty training we haven't started yet. DS is 20 months this week, not really sure when to start. He has a potty at MIL and he will sit on it, but not quite sure he understands that he needs to wee, etc. in it. When is the best time please?????

On the loo paper does it matter which brand we are using as our is cheap bulk stuff which I think has smaller sheets than andrex, etc.?

Twirl · 15/03/2006 10:43

Congrats to everyone on scans (and exams!). Sorry I haven't caught up with you in awhile but life got a bit chaotic. I have been signed off work with spd and am now on crutches - won't moan to you guys too much though (that's what the spd thread is for!). I'm a bit of a heffer and measure 9 1/4 sheets of loo roll Blush. Would love a cleaner but everytime we think about it we decide we can't justify the money Sad. I am getting one when DS arrives though, even if only for a few months. For those potty trainers out there - I'm so chuffed, my DD (23 mths) did her 1st wee on the potty at nursery yesterday!!! Think I might start thinking about training if she is keen. I'm feeling quite cheerful today as the sun is shining and spring must surely be on the way....

Twirl · 15/03/2006 10:45

Forgot to say, Jersey, Daniel is on our short list too. DH really wants it but I think it might be too popular (it is for our generation anyway). Really like it though.

Straightforward · 15/03/2006 11:11

Morning all!

Just come back from DD's preschool, where I did a 'presentation' on being pregnant (they're doing 'growth' at the moment). What madness! I'm used to addressing demanding adults or teenagers, but preschoolers are a much harder bunch! Sample 'questions' afterwards: 'My mummy's name is Linda'; 'if the baby gets poorly will it go to a doctor?' Fortunately, noone asked how the baby got there! (Blush at thought of it)

Bizarre dog story continues (he's a spaniel, by the way bumpy, but we're just dog-sitting at the mo - I'm more of a collie or alsation type girl myself Smile) - having got back from preschool debacle, I got his lead on and showed him his ball and he got all excited, then got halfway to the park and refused to go further. What's that all about then?! Had better things to do than try to reason with a dog, so brought him home, where he looked at me all excitedly and expectantly. Anyone know anything about dogs and what to do with them?!?

On the loo roll dimensions front, I think they're all pretty much the same. We use Sainsburys Revive and they're 15cm long.

Kbaby - apparently, the going rate for cleaners is about £7.50 an hour (at least in the SE) - it's more if you go through an agency. Here's a good justification: whilst pg, you can think of it as the money you save on a couple of bottles of wine a week, and when baby arrives, you'll get extra Child Allowance - thus ensuring you spend more quality time with your child, so well worth the expense...

Bumpybel - congrats on finishing your exam. What a relief!

Jersey - the best time to start potty training is any time your child is ready. A lot of people advise against doing it when you're expecting another, as older child(ren) often regress when baby is born (bit annoying if you've just succeeded!) I was lucky as DD just announced that she wanted to go to the toilet one day just after her 2nd bday and that was that - apart from the odd accident at first (and she still wears nighttime nappies at 3.8), she's been dry since.

Oh, and Jersey - I didn't realise there had been a meet up on this thread and things had got so intimate - I was quite surprised to read about bumpy lying across you in the morning... Wink

Sorry for long post - feeling chatty at the mo, and lots of work to procrastinate from!

spub · 15/03/2006 11:45

Hi gang,
Am in shock. Just did the toilet roll test and I'm, ahem 9 squares!!!!
Am hoping tis cos I am due early in July!!!and also maybe cos boyo here seems to be growing legs that are a couple of weeks ahead of gestation dates. Of course, it could just be that I'm a heiffer!
Midwife appt at 1.45 - I'll see what she reckons!!!

Straightforward · 15/03/2006 12:28

Didn't want the loo roll test to be cause for dismay! You're certainly not the first 9-er - seem to think there are about 4 or 5 9s already. Don't worry, it's just a bit of fun!!

jersey · 15/03/2006 13:30

straightforward well you know how friendly we get on here Grin!!!!!

dangirl · 15/03/2006 13:57

Afternoon girlSmile

Haven't been here for a little while - gosh the amount of messages!!
Congrats to everyone on scans and exams!!

23 + 4 today!Grin yeahh!! Doing well!!

Going to the premature clinic again today. Haven't been for three weeks so will be interesting what length the cervix is today. Also it is nearing crunch time, in that if it will change ie shorten then it theoretically should happen before 25 weeks. So today is indeed very telling.
Keeping my fingers x-ed"

Other that that no great news to report.
Haven't tried the loo role test yet. Must do later todaySmile

Hope everyone is well.
Hugs and well wishes from
Dangirl
xx

Annie29 · 15/03/2006 15:39

Afternoon Ladies

Seven loo rolls for me. Good luck at the clinic Dangirl, good luck at the midwife Spub!
The pregnancy fog has descended, I can't think of what I was going to write....

Oops.

IamBlossom · 15/03/2006 16:01

Annie I do that, I get half way thru a sentence and can't remember the word i was going to use and trail off.....very annoying!

SF - PMSL at the "My mum's name is Linda" 'question' - bless! I think expectant and excited looks from dogs equal I want a meal or I want a walk. Not hugely dissimilar from men or children I find.

Bumpy well done on finishing your exam, I am in awe of anyone that can put themselves thru that process again. Revision aaaaaarrrggghhh! Shame you can't get ratted in celebration.

Just back from London, to deepest darkest Hampshire, what a beeyooteeful day! Spring has sprung and if I didn't weigh 70 stone and wasn't wearing uncomfortable heels I would have had a spring in my step! You forget how much difference the sun shine makes to your mood! Bring on Summer I say.

My sis (due 31st July with her first) had her scan today, and I am going to have a niece! Very exciting and she is relieved to have got away with having to call a boy baby Trevor John (you may recall from earlier posts about compulsory family names) They are considering Lillie, which i think is pretty.

Hi to everyone else!

Love Blossom,

xx

bumpybel · 15/03/2006 19:52

Evening folks!!

Ooh another evening of doing nothing! Bliss! Grin

Jersey.. I most definitely think you need to re do the test using posh bog roll!!!

Spub I'm relieved to hear that youre nine pieces too, seeing as we are same dayers!

SF... I KNEW it would be a spaniel... i can spot a floppy/soft eared dog person a mile off!

Blossom! Who will get the luxury of using the name Trevor now?!!! Lilly Trevonia maybe?

Off to eat rubbish and read a trashy mag! xxx

bumpybel · 15/03/2006 19:54

PS Has anyone been getting really shitty leg cramps? I woke up in the early hours of this morning with dreadful calf cramp... it lasted for ages.

dangirl · 15/03/2006 20:05

Evening!

Went well at clinic. Cervix a tiny bit shorter but no reason for concern. Going back one more time in 3 weeks.
Also had quick look at baby - doing well.Smile

jom · 15/03/2006 21:52

Hi fellow bumpys Smile

Wimped out big time today and put a nappy on DS for playgroup which turned out to be a good thing really as after we'd done a bit of shopping here and there on the way home and dropped MIL somewhere, the day was nearly gone. I don't think I could have found enough public toilets along the way to get us through without too many accidents. When we got home I told him to take his nappy off and be a big boy now and use the potty and he went pretty much straight away. Seems quite aware of it all now and even had to tell me when he was weeing in the bath!

The plan of attack now is to stay home as much as possible over the next couple of days and try to get him quite comfortable with it all. And progress to wearing jeans/ trousers as we're just wearing 'big boy pants' or nothing at the moment to make access to the potty as quick and easy as possible. Then brave the nappy free outings next week. (Hopefully!) Smile

Jersey - I was going to wait until it was a bit warmer to start but DS became obsessed with taking his nappy off and wanting 'big boy pants' so I thought the time was right. I've always been told that its best to leave it later rather than too soon or it can turn into a really drawn out stressful thing. And I'm always one for the easy option!

Sorry for all the potty talk, I know its not supposed to be a toilet training thread!

spub · 15/03/2006 22:06

Bumpybel - Thank feck you're a 9 roll gal, too!
Midwife appt went well today so don't see her again til 28 weeks!
Iam - my dd is Lily so I have a slight bias towards the name!!!
Off to bed now so apologies if I've missed anything!
Hope you all get a good night's sleep!

pinkdolly · 16/03/2006 08:00

Morning girls!

Well it hit my last night. Was fine one minute then the next I started to feel really low and upset, ended up going to bed at 8:30 coz I just couldn't face being up anymore. Of course then I was awake at 5:30 this morning.

And what sparked this off? Something really stupid. Had been speaking to DH on phone regarding girls names (getting a bit frustrated as he doesn't like anything I choose). When I asked where his suggestions were he said his mind was too busy focusing on his course (not too busy however to go play football, or play his flight sim in the evenings).
After that started feeling that he just doesn't care about this baby (stupid I know).

Thing is, he was so excited about having this baby when he thought it would be a boy. Now we know it's a girl he seems to have gone cold. I love my children and am just so happy that this baby is healthy.

I know I am probably overreacting but I still feel upset about it this morning.

I keep having these bloody awful headaches as well, they are driving me crazy. I have them everyday and quite reguarly wake up with them.

Well, thats my moan over for today, i'm sure i'll be back on form later.
Catch you later, have a good day!

jersey · 16/03/2006 08:20

Morning

Pinkdolly don't worry about the moan I go through stages of doesn't anybody care about the baby or me, usually in the evenings when knackered and DH is sat watching tv whilst I run around like a headless chicken!!!!

I think its hormones increased by tiredness.

My parents seem to be dissapointed I am having another boy!! They wanted a granddaughter.

I had terrible dream last night DH was dead and I was seperated from my son and was panicing about going on maternity with no money Shock. All very nasty and still felt upset when I woke up this morning! Don't know where all that came from.

Re the potty training I think we will wait until the summer after DS2 arrives then DS can run around without trousers.
