Pink good luck for scan today, come on here and let us know how you get on asap.

Maewest, I know just how you feel about wanting people to leave, we are the type of couple who are always up and out the door on a Sunday morning if we have stayed over at friends and it winds me up when other people hang around for hours and hours having endless cups of tea and creating endless washing up....cor i sound sociable don't I, not.

My scan isn't till Friday and I am really looking forward to it. Am looking forward to being able to tell you lot the sex cos we are not telling ANYONE else, and it will be good to be able to confide in someone.

Had a nice weekend, spent yesterday with DH's family in Andover, lots of cousins for DS to play with, he was exhausted when we got home. HC, DS has also been off his food recently, where usually he will wolf everything in front of him I've been lucky to get a yoghurt down him this past week, I think he is teeting again and coming out of a stinking cold doesn't help either. Sleeping ok though thank goodness, I think you can cope with anything if they are still sleeping through.

I have flet lots of swimming about in there, not so much definite kicks, but lots of movement especially when i am in bed. And as you for you 10pm girls, i am usually well away in slumber land by 10pm!

And yes I get the "JULY!!!!!" retort as well, but my bump is very prominent - I can't believe I have that long to go myself!!

have a good day everyone.

Bloss

spub · 13/03/2006 08:57

Pink - good luck with the scan!
Mae - don't worry about feeling unsociable - your body is busy elsewhere and you can't be expected to always feel tip top. Hope you feel less blue today.
Blossom - good luck for Friday!
I'm also HUUUUUUGE. 16 weeks or so to go and I'm not sure how much more expansion is actually possible (can't remember being this huge at this stage with dd however this boy's hip to knee was measuring 2.5 weeks ahead of gestation dates and his daddy is 6ft 5 so maybe I've got a giraffe in there...)
It's a snowy slippery Scotland today and getting to work was a bit of an adventure! How's it all with everyone else? Smile

jersey · 13/03/2006 09:31

Hi everyone, back at work Sad but at least I can sit for a while without being in agony. Physio appointment has come through for the 27th so will see what she says.

Good luck on everyones scans, mine is tomorrow.

Hope everyone is feeling ok, can go with the hormones being up and down I cry at the slightest thing at the moment Blush.

Re the nipples I can't let my DH anywhere near them as they are so sensitive. And sex! just no interest at all, I'm afraid its going through the motions most of the time.

Jersey

IamBlossom · 13/03/2006 10:19

Hey Jersey Girl was wondering how you were. You poor poor thing , it must be ROTTEN to be in so much pain all the time......... xxxxxxxxx

Straightforward · 13/03/2006 10:55

Morning girls!
Sorry for those of you who are feeling a bit Sad - these darn pg hormones! I even cry at some adverts when I'm tired (ie all the time) at the mo! Had a really bad day on Wednesday with the blues, but feeling much better now. Hope you do too.

Actually this morning, I'm feeling v v happy. One of the reasons I was so upset last week was because everything was piling up on me and I can't do as much as normal as I'm so tired. DH reminded me that my condition for having a 2nd baby was that he had to pay for a cleaner, and he suggested getting one now. This morning, I had a visit from a lovely lady who is going to clean for 2 hours a week from next week! Bliss!!! Now, I just need to hire an assistant, a PA, a stylist... (dream on!) Can't believe that we have a cleaner! And she says she loves cleaning (perhaps we should do a mental health check on her first!!)

Bit late off the mark I know, but well done puddytat for reporting that bloke. I was so Angry when I read your rant, I even told DH about it and he said you should tell your union. Sounds like it's been dealt with now though. Hope he feels really stupid.

Annie29 · 13/03/2006 10:57

Morning Ladies,

Back at work, don't you just love it...
Lots going on out there, Pinkdolly, hope the scan went well, so?? What are you having?
My sis rang me yesterday and she was dithering about whether she wanted to know or not, but in the end I told her. It's hard to keep track of who knows, and who doesn't want to know! Jersey good luck with yours tomorrow, and I hope you're sitting comfortably.

Bit of a tip for all ye non-nookie gals, change your dinner time!!! I made Sunday lunch yesterday and we had it early at around 4pm as opposed to the usual 8 or 9pm after DS is in bed, and hey, we had a free evening!! Must get those sofa covers off for a clean...

Maewest, hope you're feeling better. And you too HC. we all have off days don't we, crying for no apparent reason (or very good reason). Our bodies are tireder than we think. But we have every right! We are keeping the world going round after all! My in-laws are visiting tonight for a couple of days so I expect to be in a very bad mood for a few days... Maybe I'll hide out at work...

My bump's getting rather large too, though with my coat closed up I still wouldn't get a seat on the tube, I have to strip off and stick it out to get a seat! Definitely bigger than with DS, my sis reckons cos your body's been there before it just adapts quicker, so gets bigger quicker. They say labour is quicker too second time round, here's hoping...

Anyone going for a half a Guinness on Friday!?!? Full of iron!

Annie29 · 13/03/2006 11:00

Oh yeah, does anyone watch the baby programs on Discovery Home and Health, and blub every time they show someone giving birth when the baby pops out???
Guilty... Blush

jersey · 13/03/2006 11:16

Hi

Thanks Iamblossam, can't believe I'm planning on doing this again!!!!

Straightforward, lucky you I've just lost my Ironing lady and can't believe how much time I spend ironing again now Shock. Told DH he will have to start picking up DS again on an evening as that gives me an hour before they arrive home to do the ironing and try and work on my essay for college. Only 3 essays to do then course finished Grin. I will be sorry its over but its a real struggle to get the work done at the moment.

I did ask for a cleaner, ironing lady, and a tidying up person for my birthday but it didn't seem to get anywhere!!!!

jersey · 13/03/2006 11:17

oh annie definitley I cry all the time, have had to stop for a while. Also cry buckets at the extreme makeover home programs when they talk about the loss of family!!!!!!!!!!!! Blush.

Straightforward · 13/03/2006 12:13

Jersy - give up ironing! I did a few years ago and it's sooooo liberating. We iron the (very) occasional item if required for interview, wedding etc, but other than that nothing gets ironed and we don't get chucked out of cafes for looking like tramps...!

IamBlossom · 13/03/2006 12:14

Straighfroward we have a cleaner (actualy my SIL) who comes every Friday for 3 hourish and it is absolutely marvellous. She changes all the beds, cleans all bathrooms, loos, all the dusting and hoovering, washes floors, cleansDS's high chair with anti-bacterial spray, ALL the things you know you should do but don't. I dont know how I would fit it all in without her what wil working full time, and I am deffo not going to lose her when I am off, and as she is DH's sister, he wouldn't want her to lose out on the work either so it's not up for debate anyway! It is a true luxury but worth every single penny. ironing lady may have to go once I am SAHM however. Gutted. Sad

IamBlossom · 13/03/2006 12:15

and yes I cry at the baby progs on Discovery, especially the test Tube babies, when it doesn't work.

Straightforward · 13/03/2006 12:17

Just realised I must be now looking like the laziest girl on the planet Blush...

Still, I work from home and have enough to do without all the boring chores!

Straightforward · 13/03/2006 12:26

Just crossed posts, blossom - glad I'm not the only one! In a way though, why is it really a true luxury? (this is a general question to all, by the way...) I'm interested, as I felt guilty about it for a while, but then I figure that people who smoke and/or drink spend £15 a week on their 'luxuries', and having a cleaner is so much better for your health (both physical and mental!!) Yet loads of people I know either have a cleaner themselves and don't admit it, or (like my mum) arch an eyebrow in a rather judgmental fashion if they find out.

A friend of mine reckons she should do it as she's at home all day - but she works from home too, in addition to caring for a 3 year old. Is it just me who thinks that it's rather unfair to be expected to do the housework just cos you're at home? I wouldn't expect my husband to clean the office just because he's in it all day, after all!

I'm just being Devil's advocate here - I'd really love to know what you girls think. Perhaps I'll start a thread on it, as it's got me thinking now!

pinkdolly · 13/03/2006 14:17

Afternoon everyone,
Well, I had my scan this morning and I am having a...........GIRL! (This from someone who was adamant I was having a boy). The sonographer was very nice and explained evrything in tons of detail. Everything is where it should be and the right size. With my other two girls they had their legs crossed so I didn't find out till I had them. It's quite exciting to know in advance. My problem is that I only thought of boys names, so I need suggestions please. You probably remember that DD1 is Zoe and DD2 is Sophie, so those names are out. I quite like Grace/Gracie but hubby not too keen.
DH is a bit dissapointed, he'd also convinced himself we were having a boy. There's no boyz in our family, so it would be nice to have one, one day. (i'd always wanted at least 4 so that's my bargaining tool).
I'm just chuffed to bits that everything is fine.

On a different note, my friend had a scan today aswell to check her baby. She is 9 weeks pg and has been having bleeding. The scan showed that her gestational sac is 9 weeks but the baby is only 4 weeks. They want to see her again in 2 weeks time. Sad I feel so sad for her. Just got off the phone to her and she seems quite upbeat. But I feel bad for feeling happy about my baby when she is going through this. Plus I have never mc and can only imagine what she is going through, I wish I could be more help to her.

jersey · 13/03/2006 14:36

Congrats pinkdolly on your daughter Grin.

IamBlossom · 13/03/2006 14:38

Pink Congratulations! So glad everything was good at the scan. So sorry to hear about your friend although it doesn't sound as though all is lost yet?? Seems an awfully long time for her to have to wait, 2 whole weeks till next check?

SF, I know what you mean, I work from home too, and can get loads of washing done in my "breaks" (which are rather frequent and lengthy at the moment to be honest) but could never skive off enough to do all the housework too while I am here. And people do arch an eyebrow when I tell them I have a cleaner but I reckon they are just jealous to be honest. i mean who WOULDn't want someone else to do it if they could?

I have posted a piccie of me and DS and bump on the personals section if anyone is interested! I look like I've swallowed a space hopper, and I've just had my hair cut and am not too sure about it but would love to see anyone else's piccies if they have them to hand!

xx

IamBlossom · 13/03/2006 14:45

scrap that - tried to post a piccie in Members Profile section but it says pictures have to be 100k or smaller - how do you reduce their size? Oh well. Pants.

HumphreysCorner · 13/03/2006 15:38

Brilliant news pinkdolly Grin We are having Sophie this time but I like Lucy/Lucie, Grace and Amy. My all time fave name is Chloe but as our surname begins with C we can't have it. We still can't agree on middle names though. I'm sure you will soon decide.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It is an all too familiar story Sad

deblaca · 13/03/2006 17:45

evening ladies

spud it was strange to read on your post that it snowing up there while down here we've had a lovely sunny spring day

annie - won't be having any guiness, have never liked it altho have tried LOTS to develop a taste for it - will have to search out some shamrock instead

SF as for a cleaner - hell yes - if you can afford it absolultely why not - we don't have one, but we live in a building site so there's not much point - i had one when i was working and may get another once the baby comes along (if we can) ..... but then again i don't iron either!!

Pink - congratulations on your scan - as for names i love the name Gracie, it was on our short list if we had a girl along with quite a few other main Gaelic names - i think girls are much easier to name than boys (DH and I yet to decide on one for our lo)

Builders started this morning and our building site is now closer to a demolish site - for me it would be a luxury to live in a house that's not under an inch of dust!

lastly i can completely relate to the hormone induced mood swings (its reassuring to realise i'm not alone) -
have a nice evening xx

Clara1 · 13/03/2006 18:30

Hello ladies,
Hope you don't mind if I join in? Always read this thread as due on 23rd July but am always interuppted by DD's wanting to go on cbeebies before I ever get a chance to use the computer. My two are at school/nursery so have 2.5 hours to "myself" every morning and I still have a cleaner and there would be all out war in our house if it were suggested I do it myself! Spend enough time cooking and tidying up so don't have more than the 24 hours in a day that everyone else has.
As for hormones - I had to pull over the other day when I was driving home as sobbing so much listening to Bridge Over Troubled Waters on the radio Blush.
Can anyone tell me when I can start relaxing about this pregnancy (now 21 weeks) as I seem to be getting more and more paranoid by the day (had 3 m/c before)Told the midwife the other day and then read in my notes that she had written "no concerns"!!!

maewest · 13/03/2006 20:01

Evening all - thanks for the lovely supportive messages. I gradually came back to being my normal self today and am now feeling like everything's a bit more in perspective again :)

Welcome Clara, sorry to hear about the mc's, it must be difficult to relax. This thread is great to post when you're feeling nervous and need some reassurance.

Best wishes to your friend Pinkdolly, this has happened to a work friend's partner recently. I felt awkward to start with at being 'obviously pregnant' around him but we've talked about about it since and think we're ok now (or as ok as it can be).

Straightforward · 13/03/2006 20:57

Welcome Clara1 - glad your dd gave you time to introduce yourself! What a lovely lot of folk we've got now! How old is your dd?

AggiePanther · 13/03/2006 23:13

Welcome Clara :)
Congrats on your daughter pinkdolly - sorry to hear about your friend though - but I'm sure she wouldn't want you to stop enjoying your pg.

SF ..was it you talking about cleaners? I lose track! I think it's an excellent idea - both DP and I work from home, which means we're here to mess it up but don't have time to clean it -am planning on a cleaner very soon (oh and I don't believe in ironing either)

Can sympathise re essay (am doing msc part time) just cant wait to finish after easter!

HC and maewest - glad you're feeling abit brighter - have not been :( myself but am very likely to burst into tears at anything emotional - I don't get discovery or I'm sure I'd be sobbing away too annie.

Oh am also huge and people look at me oddly when I say I'm not due till July ...I'm sure its because people still feel like its midwinter so July seems ages away ..in a couple of weeks when its april july will seem like its just around the corner and so we'll seem like the right size!!(i think!)

Wallace · 14/03/2006 08:14

Welcome Clara andcongrats pinkdolly on your hat-trick of girls :)

When I tell people I'm due end of July, they look at me and say "you haven't got that much longer then" or "Where's the bump?" Grin

Whoever it was that was trying to post a picture, I think if you search in Member profiles you may find advice. And if you post a pic of your bump - I'll try to do mine!
