Hi all - I think I might be a potential newbie, but won't add myself to the list quite yet, if that's ok? I've had some bleeding and have miscarried before, so am being super cautious (and maybe a bit silly) this time round.

But my scan is all booked for July 3rd, so hoping to be a bonafide member of the group from then on! Hope everyone's feeling better than I am though - will perk up in a couple of weeks, I keep telling myself. Happy pregnancy vibes all!

Bunny222 · 20/06/2012 21:17

newrowsees fingers crossed for you hope you'll be joining us on this group.

Glad of all the clothes advise, I wouldnt know where to start.

all chic that's such fab news on your scan! Do you get to see much at 12 weeks? Had my 8wk scan yesterday because of my previous bleeding, and all I saw was an odd frog shape! Just wondered if at 12wks it looks more like a baby?

DontmindifIdo · 20/06/2012 21:43

pmgkt - I loath cold cooked eggs, egg mayo sandwiches give me the heebies jeebies, yet at 10:30am this morning, that's all I could think about. (I know, I know, egg mayo shouldn't be on the list but I figured I'd go to the M&S near my office and surely noone ever got food poisioning from M&S). It was fabulous!

I've decided, this time round I'm just going to eat what my body tells me it wants and not worry if it's on the banned list or not, or if I end up the size of a whale which is why I just polished off a whisper bar

MamaMary · 20/06/2012 21:47

Bunny222 I had mine at 11 weeks last time and it definitely looked like a baby :)

Don'tmindifIdo I agree - this time round I'm more relaxed about the rules and regulations and I think everything in moderation is a good enough rule for me. The advice keeps changing- even a new report out today about how it's okay to drink moderate amounts of wine in early pregnancy.

Bunny222 · 20/06/2012 22:10

Thanks mamamary that's reassuring :-)

Bunny222 · 20/06/2012 22:11

Thanks mamamary that's reassuring :-)

allchik · 21/06/2012 07:35

bunny its ace,I had a private scan at 7wks n was just a blob shape, now u can clearly see the face, pot belly n you might see it move if he/shes not having a sleep!they moved t scan thing around to see it from dif angles,I couldnt see that as well but my hubby could...dont forget to take tissues!..all the best!
Good luck topickle for today x

SquealyB · 21/06/2012 08:23

That sounds awesome allchik.

Good luck pickle!

SpringFlowers · 21/06/2012 08:35

Good luck Pickle, what time is your scan?

PricklyPickle · 21/06/2012 09:03

Eek! My scan is at 10:20. I'm nervous and excited in equal parts, my tummy is churning like crazy - maybe that will make the baby wiggle for me! My DP looks so scared bless him.

I'll update when its done. Keep your fingers crossed girls.

SpringFlowers · 21/06/2012 09:15

Not long now Pickle, I will keep a look out for your news. It is the most lovely thing seeing your baby wiggling around x

Pascha · 21/06/2012 10:03

Fingers crossed, Pickle. I know you must be there right now, pacing the waiting room because your bladder is too full.

mrsbugsywugsy · 21/06/2012 10:27

My scan letter doesn't mention anything about needing a full bladder - do you need to go in with a full bladder or do they just tell you to drink lots of water while you are waiting?

BuntyCollocks · 21/06/2012 10:35

Good luck pickle!

I'll be back tonight with my news. Scan at 6.30pm

SquealyB · 21/06/2012 10:39

Good luck to you too bunty. Looking forward to hearing from you both later.

Birdies · 21/06/2012 10:48

Looking forward to hearing your news bunty and pickle!

Re having a full bladder I think I've been told to drink a pint one hour before. But with my DD I'm sure by 12 weeks I didn't need to.

Birdies · 21/06/2012 10:53

Ps bugsy I just did a google on it as I was interested to know too, and it looks like it depends on the type of scanner they use at your hospital. So maybe drink a pint of water one hour before and then when you get there you can ask and have a wee if you don't need to keep it full?

Roll on the rest of our scans, I'm still counting down the days....and hours....:)

SpringFlowers · 21/06/2012 11:35

I saw my gp this morning and she was lovely. I've been signed off for another two weeks. She was so understanding, I felt like a fraud having time off with nausea but she was just so sympathetic.

Brugmansia · 21/06/2012 11:52

I have my booking in on Monday. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect? I know the mw likes to spend some time talking to the mother alone but can I take DP along for most of the appointment?

Pascha · 21/06/2012 11:54

My appointment letter states: You will need a full bladder for this scan. Please drink between one and two pints of water an hour before the appointment. If your bladder is not full we may be unable to perform the scan and it will be rescheduled.

Tugstonia · 21/06/2012 12:09

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

I've got my booking in tomorrow morning, looking forward to as it might start to feel more real then.

Anyone else sleeping badly? I wake up at 5am every day, usually needing a wee and can't go back to sleep despite feeling bloody knackered. I guess it's all preparation for a sleep-deprived rest of my life...

Also, I am getting a bit concerned about my cravings for junk food. I normally have a super healthy diet but can't stop eating crisps, chocolate and other crap. Just been to Iceland and bought curly fries, fish fingers, multipack of Frazzles and a massive bar of Whole Nut... for lunch. I'm making sure I get my five-a-day but don't want to end up the size of a house. Anyone else craving shitty food??

MarasmeAbsolu · 21/06/2012 13:49

Brug - you can expect to pee in a tube, a blood sample, a long chat about lifestyle, especially questions around smoking (I had to blow in a thingy, even if non-smoker), alcohol consumption, substance abuses. A bit about folic acid (bit late at that point!). Family history of illnesses, and question about domestic violence (when your partner will be out).
Some speak about weight, some don't.

the rest... I have forgotten.

StormBird · 21/06/2012 13:54

Tugs I can't stop thinking about Mcdonalds Double Cheeseburgers and I usually avoid them like the plague...........I've been trying to ignore the urge for sometime now but gave in the other day. Then again...I suppose 1 in 11.5weeks isn't too bad Blush - IS IT????

StormBird · 21/06/2012 13:54

Sorry also meant to say, good luck to those who have scans today xx

mrsbugsywugsy · 21/06/2012 14:12

Tugs my diet has definitely changed for the worst, I used to be pretty healthy but now all I want to eat is carbs and sugary things.
