Hi Ladies, have been reading posts on here but have been to busy/tired to post. Congrats to all with positive scans and low downs screening results.

I had my scan last week and it was lovely to see the squirmy little prawn for the first time - it even had the hiccups, so cute. I've also had a low risk for downs (1 in 40,000) which I was surprised by as I thought it would be a lot higher due to my age (36), not complaining though.

I had my booking in appointment only the week before and true to form for Mayday Hospital it was a bit of a debacle. I got there at 6.20 (appointment at 6.30) and went the the entrance that you used to be able to use which was locked and a notice to go round to other entrance. So I troll round, only to find that entrance also locked and all the lights are off. I get my letter out to double check that I hadn't screwed up the time/date (perfectly possible even without the baby brain) but no, right date, right time so I trot back round to the other entrance. Knock on the door, nurse/midwife pops head round the door and before I can say anything says "you have to use the other entrance" and shuts the door. I knock a couple more times and a consultant (I'm guessing) opens and I shove my letter at him and gabble "I know your supposed to go round to the other entrance but it's locked and i'm now late". Thankfully he was lovely and let me in.

Not that being late particularly mattered as there was no midwife to see me anyway. She eventually turned up and was ok but did nark be a bit as she seemed to be trying to find problems. I am in a high risk category due to having three previous sections and my age. I'm also overweight but not in the 'high risk' category and DS2 was quite big (9lb 5 - born at 42 weeks to a 5ft 10 mother), but again, by NHS definitions, not a medically large baby. However, she insisted on putting me in the high risk for both categories. I know they are just being cautious/covering their backs and I'm probably being unreasonable but it going to mean extra appointments that I could really do without. Gripe over.

Thankfully the nausea and tiredness have lessened but I'm having really horrible/weird dreams. The other night a had a really erotic dream about...Jeh...Jeh...(gag)...Jerem-urgh...Jeremey Kyle Blush Blush Blush. Sweet baby Jesus, I never thought anything would make me think that sleep deprivation was the preferable option-I have now found the exception to the rule (pass the brain bleach)!

MamaMary · 22/07/2012 21:20

Agree with bionicemu that the bath supports are great - we got given one as a gift and it made bath times really easy.

I'm still feeling tired too - am 13.5 weeks. My DD had her 2nd birthday party yesterday and it was a great day but l'm shattered today!

eleda · 22/07/2012 23:33

godz just checked out the TfL website, just put your details in and they'll send you a badge!
Having a c section i think paying out all that cash for a course just to meet mums is a bit excessive. If I was having a natural birth, I'd definitely do them. I'm hoping the bumps and babies sessions nct do are starting up again soon locally so that'll sort the meeting mums and babies thing. And a friend of mine is due a month before me so I'll try and gate crash her nct get togethers! Grin
And I think we're going for maxi cost cabriolet with baby jogger summit xc thanks to pascha's recommendations.
Sticker - well what to say?! Poor you! Eeeewwwwww! [pukey face]

littlepinkfizz · 23/07/2012 09:19

Really sad to be back here again. Was due 22 jan but started getting v bad all day nausea , followed by terrible depression. Then on Wednesday began bleeding v badly ,was taken to hospital, needed 2 units of blood and d and c. Feel completely empty and traumatised. Thought the sickness was a good sign and had reached 13 weeks. Don't know if I will get preg again- am 41. Know lots of people Are much worse off but feel empty, confused and lonely without the wee life I was carrying

CreepyCrawly · 23/07/2012 09:38

I'm so so sorry to hear that pinkfizz. How awful for you, I can't imagine what you must be going through. It may happen again, my grandmother had twins at 45. Look after yourself xxx

Birdies · 23/07/2012 09:40

Oh littlepink you poor thing [hugs].

Of course there are always people worse off but it doesn't make what you're going through any less painful. A few of us here have had miscarriages in the past and it's horrible and traumatic, even without the needing extra blood that you had to go through.

You're naturally going to wonder if you can get pregnant again after something like this, and whilst no one ever knows, I know lots of new mums your age and some quite a bit older and you know you're able to get pregnant which is the biggest hurdle. It's too early to be thinking about that though - can you take time off work and rest, have you got people to support you?

Xx

happyhow · 23/07/2012 11:04

I'm so sorry Littlepinkfizz

As Birdies says, it's too early to be thinking that it will never happen again. You need to take time out just now for you and your partner to grieve and come to terms with what has happened. I know a couple who had their first child at 49 for the mother and 51 for the father - that was after a miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy in the previous couple of years. That was their last attempt and they have a beautiful 4yr old daughter now.

Look after yourself. Xx

allchik · 23/07/2012 11:27

eleda · 24/07/2012 10:21

or pinkfizz even!! Sorry x Blush

happyhow · 24/07/2012 10:32

I've been having some very weird dreams this last week boutique.

The other day, I won the lottery but invested a lot of it badly so I was left with £5. I then had lunch with The Obama's (but it coincided with my midwife appointment so I insisted she came too) where he was telling me a story about a guy who lost his money in the 1930's recession but had $1.45 left so he invested it in some science program and he was now a billionaire!! Unfortunately I woke up with a splitting headache at this point so I have no idea where I need to invest my money!!!! Grin

MamaMary · 24/07/2012 11:03

littlepinkfizz, my heart goes out to you. xx

Pascha · 24/07/2012 11:52

littlepinkfizz i'm so sorry.

No wierd dreams here except last night when I dreamed about scratching. Lo and behold this morning I have 10 yes TEN big bastard mossie bites, 6 of them in a row up my leg and the other 4 on my arm Angry

I'm too hot and the midges are out to get me...

SquealyB · 24/07/2012 12:30

boutique I have weird dreams at the best of times so pregnancy is no exception. Having very strange dreams at the moment but no Jeremy Kyle erotica yet! Although I did remind me of a very very weird sexy dream I had about Robert Kilroy Silk once (yuck!)

BuntyCollocks · 24/07/2012 13:23

So sorry, pinkfizz, take care of yourself.

Is anyone else roasting? I know it's hot (27 here today), but I am constantly on the boil. DH is NOT happy, as I have changed our duvet to sheets. He likes to slowly cook himself under a 15tog in all weathers. Freak.

CreepyCrawly · 24/07/2012 15:17

So glad I'm not the only one having sex dreams. Mat Dillon was fantastic! But it was 'There's Something About Mary' Matt Dillon so he had a silly little 'tache. We did watch Aladdin afterwards though!

Boiling hot here too. I don't like the heat at the best of times, but today is unbearable! Hiding out in the house until later on.

newbie6 · 24/07/2012 16:16

Hi

Is anyone else beginning to have a bump now? I'm 14 weeks today and feel like all of a sudden it has appeared from nowhere?? I'm normally a size 10 and I can still fit my clothes but trousers are a little tight and whilst I have always had a bit of a belly (sadly flat stomach's and me never went together!)...I feel it is now most definitely not a jelly belly!

x

happyhow · 24/07/2012 17:31

I'm 16+1 and I think Baby is starting to make an appearance. I've felt massive the last two days but haven't gone as far as wearing maternity clothes yet. Bought jeans from New Look the other day - nice and cheap and fit pretty well.

Had my 16 week appointment yesterday. My midwife was on holiday so had someone else plus a student. They were hilarious!! I don't think I've had such a funny appointment ever. Grin

CreepyCrawly · 24/07/2012 17:34

Do you have to give a urine sample at the 16 week check? I'm considering taking one with me, as I struggle to do it 'on command'.

If so, is it a normal one or a mid-stream one?

PricklyPickle · 24/07/2012 18:02

Creepy I had to give a sample at my 16 week appointment, the mw didn't give a preference as to which type of wee she wanted Smile
