on the topic of buggies:
got "quite a few with DD" - originally wanted a bugaboo bee, which DH vetoed due to price. We were, BTW, truly shocked at price and not impressed by the in store "demos".
started with a Freecycle silvercross giant vintage affair (free of course) - lovely, but not ideal after CS, nor to go down the 4 stairs at the bottom of the path.
Then got a Loola from ebay, which worked with maxi cosi and carrycot - but the handles were a bit tricky, and could not phone and walk at the same time
Sold that one and got a Loola up instead (with a handle bar thingy) which was fine, but not ideal in the long run.
Finally, we stumbled across a bee on sale (end of line) in John Lewis, and DH finally relented. Best buy ever, as it is light, very maneuverable with a nice giant hood for blowy windy weather (which is our only type of weather).
Also got a quinny buzz on ebay, which we've always been happy with.
This time round, we'll keep our bee with a buggy board for DD, and we'll pimp it with a micralite toro cot for the first few months (which doubles up nicely as a mosses basket when staying at in laws).
Right
Otherwise, had a few shitty days - had the quad test last week, with midwife mentioning that result would take up to 3 weeks, but that I'd get a call within 7 days is there was a problem. I had had the NT measurement at 12 weeks, but my hospital is still training, so the NT result does not count - however, the NT was not a reassuringly tiny figure, and fluctuated between 2.4 and 2.9 (DH apparently cannot remember that
). This worried me a fair bit.
I was at a big work thingy abroad for the whole of this week, and got a missed call from the hospital on Tuesday (8 days post quad test) with a weird and hardly audible message telling me to call midwife. Had no notes, phone numbers or detail, so asked DH to "sort it"... let's just say that nothing got sorted. Got random midwives calling in middle of work thingy, asking for authorisation to speak to DH. Would not speak to me though, which kind of defeated the point. It took me 48hours to get anyone to actually check the fetal medicine results, which are apparently "low risk". I still don't know who called, or why...
