Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Also can't remember who said sorry Blush about was going to look at prams in mothercare and toys r us and I have vouchers for both places, the mother care one is £20 off any pushchair when spend £250 or more and has a code do can be used online and the toys r us one is £10 off when spend over £100 off anything in store, also have one to save £15 when spend £135 on any car seat/infant carrier and that can be used in conjunction with buying the infant carrier base.

Not sure if they'll be of use to anyone but I won't use them so if they are any use then better to save something rather then nothing but thought I'd offer :)

NervousAt20 · 16/06/2012 22:09

The car seat one is for mother care not toys r us

TheDetective · 16/06/2012 22:14

WW It is to relieve pressure on the main valve (vena cava) to the heart, which lies slightly to the right. Lying on your left stops your uterus putting pressure on the valve and increases blood (oxygen) supply to the baby. Try telling that to my body. I can't lie on the left. DP sleeps to my left. I freak out if he so much as breathes on me. If I have to smell his night breath, I'd die. If I sleep on my side, its my right side. Or prop a pillow under my right side to tilt me to the left - does the same job as sleeping on the left really.

MrsWee Hope all is settling down for you.

TheDetective is sulking. Again. DP insisted on making tea, then undercooked my pasta. I hate undercooked pasta. There is nothing else in for tea. I'm starving now :(

In other news! Took DS for his haircut today, amongst other things. It really needed doing, couldn't get an appointment at the usual place, so as we were going to town, decided to pop to a few salons. The only one with an appointment said they charge adult prices for children on a weekend! I said ok, well just tell me the price. £15 for a dry cut. Felt like weeping, but agreed. He sits in the chair, and I get a picture out of him to show how I wanted it. It is kinda surfer style, longish, the back of it is just below his collar, which is too long for him. She starts getting him ready for the cut, then says they can only take an inch off for the £15! WTF?!! It needed an inch at the back, but the top layers needed 2 inches to make them in the layered style they should be in. The top grows quicker than the rest. I practically dragged him out the chair! £15 for an inch off, which would not be in the style it should be in, and would need doing in a week again! I growled at them to go and rip someone else off, and stalked out! Blush

Was that my pregnancy hormones on overload again??? Grin

They definitely were when we went to the cinema and watched Men in Black 3. And I cried. Dear me! My eyeliner was half way down my face.

Hope everyone else has had a nice day - my first saturday off in 7 weeks! It was nice to be off for just part of a weekend! Back to work tomorrow, on sodding nights!! My own fault, I'm doing extra shifts to bump up my pay, to put away for mat. leave :(

YellowWellies · 16/06/2012 22:29

Oh dear my hormones are in action too, I had a weep when I went to the loo earlier and our absentee pusscat wasn't there to come in and watch me / miaow at me as he normally does. He normally follows me like a shadow and it doesn't feel right going for a wee without him (yes I know this is weird Blush but I reckon it will stand me in good stead for the lack of privacy toddlers bring to bodily functions).

Thankfully we have found our furry pervert terrified in the next door landowner's plantation - think he must have been mobbed by the oystercatchers and skuas and run for cover in the night and then not dared to make a break for home. DH grabbed him, notwithstanding flying panicked claws and walked him in a deathgrip across the fields and home. DH is now officially my hero. And we've just turned his epic haul of mackerel into rollmops which I've been craving - can I eat them?

The only downside is that Momma barncat came to rescue her last wee kitten so I've not lucked out and ended up with two kitties.... must work on DH to let me have a kitten (perhaps as insurance in case the furry pervert goes AWOL again?) :D

Anyhoo have totally forgotten all day that I am updiffed having been climbing over fences and scrambling into old barns to find our sodding ingrate cat. Which actually was quiet a nice feeling!

GTbaby · 17/06/2012 00:28

Passmethecrisps i have the same problem, have always slept on my side, never on my back, but now just cant get comfy. i keep waking up on my back and having to turn my self over. my arms are getting in the way, always getting pins and neddles :( sucks.

although i dont seem to get dizy on my back, so maybe it doesn't matter?

blonderthanred · 17/06/2012 00:34

Great news mrswee.

The lying-on-left thing is interesting, I had read about it encouraging the baby into the right position later on too, as well as the valve thing. And I'm totally with you on DH's night breath (my DH not yours...), I also get pins & needles from lying on side.

Was considering one of those Dream Genii pillows, has anyone else used them? The Amazon reviews seem good but it's a lot of money. I'm only 5'3 and the negative reviews are mostly from tall people.

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2012 06:33

nervous I think it wa who said I'd be going to those stores. I won't be spending over £250 though I hope! But poss might spend over 100 in toys r us a we might get the pushchair from there.

Happy fathers day to all your partners who have dcs and happy fathers day to be to all those that are preg for the first time!

Also it's my 1 year wedding anniversary today! The weather is def nicer today than it was a year ago!

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2012 06:33

Was me*

WestWinger · 17/06/2012 08:06

DH Happy Anniversary!

SwissArmyWife · 17/06/2012 08:31

DH Happy anniversary to you and your DH Grin Doing anything nice for it?

Detective Wow, £15 is a complete rip off! I think i'd do the same even if I wasn't pregnant!

Yellow Glad your cat was found! And yes you're right, you lose all privacy when you have a toddler!

Happy fathers day to all your partners :)

Iheartpasties · 17/06/2012 09:01

15 quid for a dry hair cut for a child! That is absolutely rediculous!! Good on ya for storming out, they need to learn that they are charging way too much. What a con!!

We went to the zoo today and it was loverly.

NervousAt20 · 17/06/2012 09:13

Happy AnniversaryDH :) if any of them can be of use just let me know

Happy Fathers Day to Daddy's and Daddy's-to-be

TheDetective · 17/06/2012 09:33

Damn it. Wrote a big long message. MN deleted it. Arse.

Worst thing is, I can't even remember what I wrote.

StuntNun · 17/06/2012 10:10

Where has my bump gone? It was there yesterday but now I just look fat again. I weighed myself and I haven't lost weight but I look all deflated. VERY WEIRD, I can only assume baby has snuggled into a different position.

OP posts:
Tiago · 17/06/2012 10:13

Stunt - I too have a magical disappearing/reappearing bump. I think it is every thim the baby decides to head back down into my pelvis. Must be warmer there...

Tiago · 17/06/2012 10:15

blonder I have the summer infant pillow and am quite tall (5'8"). Well worth getting - i'd developed a total inability to sleep until I did.

TheDetective · 17/06/2012 10:30

I palpate my bump, and up until the day before yesterday, I haven't felt any 'fetal parts' thanks to the flab Hmm. However the night before last I managed to find the back. Its on my left. Its always on my left when I feel movements too. I think baby prefers my left side! Shall have to ask which way it is lying at my scan on thursday!

Have a little feel of your bump. One side may feel hard, and one might feel softer. I showed my DP the difference, and he agreed that one side is firm, like a rock, and the other is soft and squidgy. Grin

And yes, the position will alter the shape and firmness of the bump!

Passmethecrisps · 17/06/2012 10:44

Hooray for the returned kitty yellowwellies! Out cat likes to visit us in the bathroom too. If you are there long enough she tries to get on your knee. Like you say, good practice for the future.

My bump comes and goes as well. I think it likes the pelvis area most because that' where it always seems to be. If that's indicative of it liking sleep then that's great!

Lying in bed last night I could feel it kicking from the outside. Put DH's hand on but he couldn't feel anything. He needs to press a bit harder but doesn't like to. Some were getting really strong so I don't think it will be too long before he will be able to feel without pressing.

Happy anniversary DH! By the tome we get to our first anniversary we will have a 3 month old. No romantic break for us then!

blonderthanred · 17/06/2012 10:44

Thank you Tiago.

I've was having a good feel of my bump last night during a big kicking session - as was DH although he didn't feel anything - and it definitely felt bigger/firmer one side than the other, which I thought might be the head? Not sure quite how it works though.

Passmethecrisps · 17/06/2012 10:46

Last night I was getting quite hard kicks on my right at the same time as light flutters on my right. They were down in my pelvis. Maybe he was lying flat and waving his arms and legs about.

TheDetective · 17/06/2012 11:09

Mine makes me laugh, as I wonder what exactly he is doing in there! Strange little creature!

I have 4 bathroom visitors in my house. It's no wonder I get stressed and can't bloody poo! Between DP, DS, the dog who puts her head between my legs and tries to force her head down the bowl and the cat. I'm screwed!

Glad the pervert has returned YW

And congratulations DH Hope you have something nice planned!

I did type all this in my earlier post before it was deleted grrr....

I've got no roof left in my mouth. The nectarines and cherries have burnt it off. Ouch.

DesperateHousewife21 · 17/06/2012 11:43

Thanks ladies. We're going to my parents a bit later for a roast lunch then onto fils as its fathers day too of course!

nervous the £10 off at toys r us would come in handy if you don't mind :) let me know what you need me to do.

FatimaLovesBread · 17/06/2012 11:47

Oh bugger.
I've just done 1.5hours of cleaning and sorting out things for tip/charity shop and now my pelvis is bloody killing Sad

I wanted to get lots sorted today but I've done one room and I'm in agony!

Feeling a bit sorry for myself, I can't spend the next 5 months not doing anything, the house will be a shit hole

Sorry for the self pity post

ShellyBobbs · 17/06/2012 12:22

OMG Detective I had to try REALLY hard not to cry at Men in Black 3 as well, I couldn't speak for a few minutes, I think my eldest daughter (12) was holding back a few tears too, but she's a massive softie :)

Just on a break from work, have to be honest it's not been that busy this weekend so am just nipping to IKEA to have a look at cots (actually hubby has told me this is what we are doing, he's still like a big kid about this baby).

I'm absolutely knackered in the day, but at night I'm sleeping like a log which is something I never do? I'm well propped up with pillows into an almost sitting position and have a pillow under my knees, sooooo comfy, no wafts of night breath coming anywhere near me and no sweaty spooning as I'm to high above him :)

ShellyBobbs · 17/06/2012 12:24

Oh and can't wait until tomorrow. All kids back at school, I'll be home for about 9.10am after the school run and back in bed at 9.11am until at least 2pm, I need a really good catch up and I don't care...............
