Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Iheartpasties · 16/06/2012 13:39

mrswee phew I am relieved for you.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 16/06/2012 14:18

mrswee hope everything is ok, great news about the heart beat etc.

Am having feet up time with DDs while DS sleeps, only now don't want to get up from my place on the sofa. I haven't told DDs about the baby yet I wanted to wait till after the 20 week scan, as I don't seem to relax unil after that, but one of them announced I was huge this morning so maybe they have sussed it.

I will probably spend the next our days getting nervous about My scan n Thurs.

eversomuch · 16/06/2012 15:04

mrswee Hope everything turned out to be fine. Yay for heartbeat and kicks!

stuntnun Hope your back is feeling better soon. I've got a history of back problems, so I know how debilitating it can be.

Had my 20-week scan yesterday. Everything was fine, except that the abdominal circumference was measuring quite large. Could be nothing, or could be an indication of gestational diabetes. Going back in four weeks for another scan and if the measurements still look suspicious, will get the gestational diabetes blood test. Fx it was just an anomaly. This little guy is always throwing surprises my way -- perhaps my body's way of telling me it's time to be done with this reproduction thing!

Was quite stressed out after the scan because the doctor was very reluctant to discuss what the measurements might indicate. Went back after lunch and spoke with another doctor who explained things much better and put my mind at ease.

DS was very wriggly through the scan and we definitely got a good glimpse of his boy parts, so time to start getting rid of DD's lovely clothes to make room for his.

How's everyone doing on names? We're finding boys' names SO hard and not really agreeing on much yet. DH doesn't help by suggesting a lot of ridiculous names as jokes.

georgee · 16/06/2012 15:29

Thank goodness for this morning's reassurance mrswee, was hoping all was well and wondering how you were getting on.

Hope all is well with the new scan eversomuch, thank goodness for that second doctor. It would have been stressful to be hanging there for four weeks wondering what it was all about with no explanation whatever. I expect it's just a blip though and all will be within normal bounds next time. Hurrah for it being a boy! We're in the process of putting the house on the market and would dearly love to know if I can get rid of all those bags and bags of girls' clothes but DH doesn't want to find out this time so they're just going to have to take up space until November!

Have had the odd little kick this week. Very different from DD - there was that sort of bubbling sensation low down with her for ages. With this one there's been a set of internal nudges now and then, quite a bit higher up. I think s/he is standing on his/her head!

Horrible day here in Edinburgh, it was foul yesterday too. Hope everyone else is having better weather!

georgee · 16/06/2012 16:09

... and in response to those questions I can remember being discussed recently:

We're getting a second hand Phil & Ted's from my BIL and SIL, no idea what they're like but it's free so we'll start with that and see!

We're DTD about once every two/three weeks ATM, not a brilliant record. I'm having the weirdest sex dreams though - one last week involved John Craven! Yuck!

I'm also wee-ing myself a bit with coughs and sneezes (and have a cold at the moment so this is fairly frequent). I too usually have a bladder of iron (in fact I've had to get help when I was younger for not being able to 'let go' enough to pee in public!) so it's very disconcerting.

We have plenty of boys' names but very few girls'. With DD we had no end of trouble settling on one so who knows what will happen if we get another DD -she'll probably be one of those ones that's not named for weeks!

kirrinIsland · 16/06/2012 16:19

Yay for the heartbeat mrswee - hope all is well.

brockle I have the same issue. DP is Muslim so we're going CPR Muslim names. I could name a girl no problem but we're struggling to find any boys names that we both like. I'll find out on Wednesday whether that's going to be a problem!

misslaughalot · 16/06/2012 17:06

Oooh Georgee John Craven bought me lunch once, he's very nice but I'm wondering what your dream involved?!?!

georgee · 16/06/2012 17:31

Oh well, erm, the dream was that I was expected to give him a - you know - a bit of attention downstairs. Luckily I don't think it got to that point before I woke up in a sweat thinking 'Oh thank God I don't have to give John Craven a BJ ...'

Not sure where it came from but when my sister was in 6th form our school was in Countryfile and there was this sequence where he was talking to the kids and then stepped forward and said 'Hello, welcome to Countryfile' ... anyway, my sister was in the group he was talking to and said to him (as they had to be looking like they were chatting) 'What shall we talk about?' and he said 'Let's talk about sex!' So then there was this shot of this group of 18-year-olds open mouthed behind him while he stepped forward and said 'Welcome to Countryfile'.

But that was 20 years ago! My sister's now 38! Amazing what your pregnant brain drags up and turns into fodder for alarming sex dreams ... hoping I'm not the only one here ... (probably am, oh dear oh dear)!

Brockle · 16/06/2012 17:53

Nice to know there are people in the same boat kirrin! Girl names are easy but finding it tough with boys. We have a Mahmood and a Zakarya. Moody gets frustrated that people don't sound the h in his name but his nickname is Moody or Moods anyway. Zakarya is Zak or Zakkie. stunt the only boys name we can both agree on is Yousef. We like Jenna, Halima, Mariyah and the boys like Jamilah for girls but sure it will be a Yousef tho unless we can find another one we can agreed on!!

Thanks again for all your messages.
Doctor had a look said cervix is nice and closed and blood is def old. She was happy for me to go home which is all good
Cramp pain had subsided a bit when I saw her but is as bad as ever now I'm home. I've had a bath and more paracetomol but neither has helped. I'd like to know what is causing it and I don't really know what to do. It's just constently there. DH has arranged for DD to go to a friend for the night in case we has to go back to triage. I've called triage to let them know about the constant cramp. They are busy so will call back.
They checked for a uti but no other infection. It did seem at the time things were clearing.
I had a headache when I woke up. It's the only thing the paracetomol worked on!

Spinity · 16/06/2012 18:42

Can I join please?? Currently 18 weeks pg, due on the 17th nov and we will be having a surprise in terms of gender. Already have a little girl.

Nearly half way there and I am enormous :)

Lilliana · 16/06/2012 19:15

Hi Spinity you are duw the same day as me! There is a link to a stats list somewhere near the beginning that you can add yourself to.

Glad Lane and Mrswee are both ok, hope the cramping eases soon.

We like lots of girls names, but only really agreed on 1 boys name, we have at least one option for each which is good I guess.

No sex dreams here (wouldn't mind a couple but not about JC please) and the odd dreams I was having seem to have gone, maybe I'm just too tired to dream now!

Can't believe we are nearly half way there, it has gone so fast.

applepieinthesky · 16/06/2012 19:27

mrswee That's good that the cervix was still closed but a bit worrying about the cramps. I hope they ease off for you soon.

Welcome Spinity and congratulations.

I just got back from visiting my auntie's baby boy. He is beautiful. He had loads and loads of tiny little curls on his head and chubby little cheeks. I could have held him all day. Made me even more excited about mine!

LittleLolly · 16/06/2012 19:45

Ladies who live in the North West/ Manchester area.... I went to a fab shop today called Lester's Nursery World, it's in Cheetham Hill in Manchester. It's the only place that seems to do a package on the iCandy.. I got 10% off everything which was a saving of over £100! So the iCandy Peach2 is ordered for this little man, very excited.

I also got the changing bag I've been admiring... It's a pink lining Yummy Mummy bag with blue butterflies on it, I love it! The bag was £15 cheaper than everywhere else too.

And after all that shopping I came home and had a snooze on the sofa while DH made tea... Ahhh I love being pregnant Grin

LittleLolly · 16/06/2012 19:47

mrswee hope you feel better soon. It's hard to know what is normal pregnancy aches and pains and what is worrying isn't it. At least you know baby is safely shut away in there and still kicking happily!

DebussyHead · 16/06/2012 20:02

Ooh a new thread already! Marking my place.

ShellyBobbs · 16/06/2012 20:15

Hope it clears up soon MrsWee

Might have a gander in there LittleLolly, sounds good.

georgee · 16/06/2012 20:20

Sorry to hear about your cramps mrswee. Hopefully just your womb concentrating on expanding to make room for that kicking baby - worth just getting them to check it again though. I hope they've phoned you back by now and that you're well on your way to getting some advice.

Welcome Spinity!

kirrinIsland · 16/06/2012 20:21

brockle zakarya is lovely and would be on my list if we didn't already have one in the family!

Welcome spinity

WestWinger · 16/06/2012 20:31

Welcome spinity!

I am now back from hols. Great to be back online properly at last. Picked up my doggy from his holiday home today - so pleased to see him - he was quite ill while we were away and what with the damn pregnancy hormones I spent a few days in floods of tears. Anyway, he is back to his usual self now, i.e. asleep.

Lovely to read all your news about the girls and boys. It is going to be such an exciting few weeks.

Hope you have a good night mrswee and that the cramps ease soon.

On the getting to sleep thing, I am fine bump-wise - I just shove a thin pillow under the bump and between my knees and I'm fine. I read somewhere that, near term, sleeping on your left encourages baby to be in a good position for birth so have adopted that to get myself in the habit. The problem I have is my arms - what do you do with them?!? If only they could be detached for the night. I get terrible pins and needles whatever position I lie in. Stops me from sleeping properly. Grrrr.

Anyway, takeaway has just arrived :). Will get up to date and catch up in a bit.

WestWinger · 16/06/2012 20:42

Errr - ignore what I said about sleeping on your left - it is best to sleep on your left but not for the reason I gave...... Not sure where I got that from...... Blush Maybe I am thinking about birthing balls. Maybe I should quit while I am not ahead......

Passmethecrisps · 16/06/2012 21:12

Welcome spinity!

westwinger I heard that too. Don't know where.

I wouldn't mind so much if I has already been a back-sleeper. I have always slept on my side but now that this would be a good idea suddenly I feel uncomfortable.

NervousAt20 · 16/06/2012 22:01

Welcome spinity :)

mrswee I hope they call you back soon and the cramps start up ease off, if they don't ring you then keep phoning them!

The football has taken over the Telly! The england games interest me not like I no the rules just the teams and when a goal happens but the rest Angry there's nothing on

ValiumQueen · 16/06/2012 22:05

Sleeping on left means baby is not on any major blood vessels, which is why you have a section tilted to the left.

DD1 had a fab party, but I am shattered, and DD2 has only just gone to sleep.
