Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

horseylady
We are going to be renting our flat out from October, never done it before but really want to do it right. We like it here and find the whole flat very functional and are happy and satisfied and everything works... so that's a start. I may bend your ear before October though!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 28/06/2012 06:48

Morning all. missmummy hope you get things sorted.

Scan yesterday was ok, they couldn't see baby very well due to baby's position and my high BMI - and made me feel quite bad about that - knew that could be an issue but in previous pregnancy I never felt like there was any accusatory element when the issue cropped up. DH thinks the sonographer was just having an off day as she was generally very abrupt and we had her for 20 week scan with DD and she spent ages with us then and let the appointment run way over so she could tell us the sex.

Long and the short of it is I have to go back next week for them to try and complete the measurements.

Also saw one of the consultant's team who has booked later growth scans and a GTT test at week 28. The doctor made noises about delivery choices and said if labour doesn't happen naturally before week 38 or 39 they would probably book a section (previous reasonably traumatic EMCS under GA) but that it is very much my choice.

Feeling a bit low after all of that really. Obviously pleased to see baby and see the heartbeat, but also feel bit irresponsible to be pregnant after encountering the sonographer and a bit dismayed that the meeting with the doctor left things a bit vague - I don't care how I deliver but very keen to avoid another EMCS and can feel anxiety levels rising without a plan - was probably silly of me to have assumed that there would be a plan this early on Sad.

Thechick · 28/06/2012 06:58

Yellow it's prob a bit of both. For me it was so early in the day, it was definitely food and hormone related. Since I kind of ish stopped the foods that made it happen I've been okay, but after seeing that picture of where the baby is and how it's pushing everything up, I'll be amazed if we don't all get heartburn. It's funny, we know that bits inside our body are being pushed out of the way but actually seeing it makes things a bit more understandable. Sorry, cant remember who posted it, but will take a look in a sec.

Thechick · 28/06/2012 07:04

Oh, it was you yellow thanks for posting that link. It was very informative.

Lilliana · 28/06/2012 07:36

Sorry you are facing this additonal stress Missmummy but in the long run it sounds like it could work out for the best with your neighbour and landlord combined! (We rent out our house as the one we are in comes with DH's job but wouldn't dream of just going round whenever let alone letting ourselves in! Shock)

Glad scans seem to be going well and fx for all those coming up.

Madam don't feel bad, as your Dh says they were probably having a bad day.

I haven't really thought about how I'm getting LO out yet; it took long enough to get him/her in! Think I am in denial. When do you start writing birth plans etc?

Second day at home. Wrote some reports yesterday but did find it quite boring. I can see I'm going to need to make a timetable to get things done when on mat leave as I'm not good a motivating myself!

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/06/2012 07:36

Im def feeling the effects of everything being pushed up. It was later in my preg with ds but this time I find it hard to breathe. Like my lungs don't have as much room. It doesn't help that's it's really muggy here atm, god knows what I'm going to be like in 40 degree heat in Spain next week!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/06/2012 07:45

Morning ladies and babies! :)

I am deffo feeling the effects of things moving, I sat in the cinema last night and I think baby must have been sitting on a nerve or something, I had a lot of pain in my bottom and cervix Blush this morning the movements are in a totally different place and a lot less noticeable so I assume he/she moved to a different position.
DP is so excited about the scan Monday, I am as usual just nervous!

applepieinthesky · 28/06/2012 08:20

One of DP's brothers has managed to pay half the money already but we still need to find nearly a thousand pounds. Will have to cut back some more and see what we can afford to send. Hopefully we can manage it between us.

People moan about this country but we have a great country really. There are so many things that people take for granted. I am proud to be British and so glad my baby will grow up here.

I've got my scan at 10am and got hardly any sleep last night because I'm so nervous. Got to leave soon because I need to get petrol and loads of change for the car park and scan pictures (fingers crossed).

SwissArmyWife · 28/06/2012 08:29

Hoping that all the upcoming scans go well ladies. I was horrendously nervous before mine, DP kept asking what was wrong all day as I was so quiet. It's such a scary time, but fingers crossed you've all got healthy babes!

I've been suffering with heartburn too, and remember it well from my first pregnancy!

21 weeks tomorrow, where is everyone else at? :)

I loved waking up this morning, DP gave me a lie in and when I woke up naturally (aahh bliss) baby was bouncing around on my bladder. I said "good morning LO, how are you today? Give us a kick" and he did! So glad it's more noticable these days :)

capedcrusader25 · 28/06/2012 08:48

Good luck apple My turn tomorrow Confused I'm 20 weeks today, it's gone so quickly! My stupid bloody tyre exploded on the way to work so I'm now sat at the garage Angry and in my hormonal state I'm seeing this as a bad omen! Ugh, need to get to school and take my mind of things with my million meetings x

misslaughalot · 28/06/2012 08:53

Morning all, haven't posted for ages but have been reading! Glad to hear all the positive scan news and that team pink are growing!

19+3 today and scan on Tuesday, we're staying team yellow (if my resolve holds out!).

Not coping well with this mugginess at the moment, I'm finding it hard to sleep as it is and the heat isn't helping. Haven't slept through the night for weeks now, and can't helping thinking I won't for another X years now...someone please tell me that sleep is overrated...Confused

I'm a landlord also. Missmummy I really can't believe how badly you are treated by yours! I think it's different when you've lived in the place you're renting out, as it was my home for 5 years before I met DP and I want whoever lives in it to love it as much as I did. If I'd just bought somewhere specifically for renting I don't know if I'd care about it as much as I do with this flat.

Right, have to go as I'm driving to Norfolk and back (from Birmingham) today for work. This is the last big car journey for me while I'm preggers though, in a couple of weeks I'm getting the train to Yorkshire (and am childishly excited about it) because driving just makes me even more tired now.

Good luck for your scan today apple and anyone else having theirs!

MissMummy1 · 28/06/2012 09:06

Thanks everyone. My landlords in my last property were absolutely brilliant and still keep in touch occasionally. It's just a shame they don't own anything in this area. As a student I had some really dodgy landlords, and DH has certainly dealt with many(!), but this one really takes the biscuit! I love our apartment and its amazing view and know we won't get anywhere as nice in the area while we're still saving for a deposit to buy somewhere, but I'm now at the stage I just want away from all the grief we've had from her over the past few months. I've never really felt like this is our home and would like a fresh (hopefully hassle free this time) start before baby is born. Sorry for ranting yesterday, I was devastated, but I'm looking at the positives now!

Good luck to everyone with scans. I'm 18 weeks today and still have another two weeks before mine. DH has hopefully managed to secure the afternoon off from his new employers and is really looking forward to it - like everyone on here it seems I'm just really nervous!

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/06/2012 09:10

Im 19+2 today got my scan tomorrow :)

I'm not too nervous about the baby because everything looked great at the 16 week scan. It's more the placenta issue I can't stop thinking about.

Thechick · 28/06/2012 10:17

I'm 19+4 today, my scan is 18th July so another 3 weeks to wait!! I think I'm more excited than nervous at this stage, will prob change the nearer i get.

DesperateHousewife21 · 28/06/2012 10:18

Im getting period type pains, low down around my pubic line. Does anyone else get these?

horseylady · 28/06/2012 10:35

Yes anytime about properties is fine. We've got flats/houses/shops so!!!

Good luck to all the scans!!! Apple hope it goes ok along with cape!!

Madame - sorry you're not totally happy, remember nhs workers have bad days too!! ( I defo do!!)

Dh- not really just lots of niggles.

A friend sent me a text last night. Only it wasn't for me......basically to someone I can only assume she's having an affair with. She then sent a couple afterwards saying the obvious but im worried its going to be awkward :( I don't know what to do :( hardly slept last night as so hot and also it unsettled me a bit :(

horseylady · 28/06/2012 10:38

Oh also holiday destinations would you go to Corfu, santorini or sorrento?

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 28/06/2012 10:40

Thanks horsey, more cross with self for not being as healthy as I should be and it basically being my fault that the scan wasnt great. The lady in question was lovely last time so am sure, when am being objective, that it was just one of those things, so trying to be positive and looking forward to hopefully seeing a bit more of baby next week!

blonderthanred · 28/06/2012 11:09

DH, I get all sorts of weird aches and pains. It's hard not to worry about them but unless they develop into something more, there's nothing much I can do.

Gazelle, I also have a high BMI and although it has been referred to in appts no-one has made me feel bad. In fact the sonographer at my 20-wk scan was having some trouble and I apologised for having an extra layer for her to look through but she said it was just the baby refusing to get into the right position. Fair enough a raised BMI is not an ideal starting point but there are worse things and as long as you are doing your best to be healthy during the pg then you are doing well - that's the philosophy I've adopted anyway. Don't let anyone ruin your experience.

applepieinthesky · 28/06/2012 12:10

Home from the scan. Baby is measuring spot on for the dates and looks healthy. We are having a boy!! DP is over the moon and I'm very pleased too Grin I called my mum when I got out the hospital and she cried on the phone because she was so happy.

Little monkey was wriggling around all over the place and making it difficult for the sonographer to get the measurements.

My follow up with the consultant was fine as well. Urine sample was clear, blood test for thrombophilia was clear and he doesn't need to see me any more. Yay!

Iheartpasties · 28/06/2012 12:10

Bleurgh! I have an awful cold, I have had it all week and I feel like death warmed up! It all started as a big headache at the weekend and I have been feeling worse and worse. So today I rang up a helplife for pregnant ladies to check about medications, and asked what I could take for a headache, it felt good to get professional advice. I took some panadol and felt a bit better. I haven't been ill in ages and I'll be glad to feel better soon.

Sorry moan over.

Lovely to hear everyones news about scans etc, and good luck to everyone who is having a scan soon.

applepieinthesky · 28/06/2012 13:09

DH I have had those pains as well. I have read a lot of women get them at this stage and it's nothing to be concerned about unless you are in pain or leaking fluid or blood.

ShellyBobbs · 28/06/2012 13:15

Horsey I've been to Sorrento and Corfu, very different places. Sorrento is a big place, very busy, you'll get all sorts there and the shopping can be fantastic. Public transport is plenty and the food is divine. A warning, NEVER get a taxi, this goes for the whole of Italy, it will cost you an absolute fortune. The place is quite fast paced.

I just love Corfu, it's just so beautiful, laid back and the people are some of the most friendly I've ever come across. If you do go make sure you go and see the West of the Island, it's beyond description. Boat trips are good to get around. If you're after a recommendation for accommodation then in Kassiopi there are apartments called Philippos Hotel trip advisor link here, the best place for friendliness I've ever stayed, it's perfect.

I've not been to Santorini so can't help you there :)

Lots of kicking and wriggling about today. I've just seen someone who works at the same place as me at a meeting, she is 31 weeks and finishing work next Sunday and tagging 5 weeks holiday on before mat leave. I've had to use my holidays for school holidays so can't do this, am very jealous. Ah well, only 15 weeks to go until feet up :)

Lilliana · 28/06/2012 13:25

So glad the scan went well Apple and congrats on joining team blue :)

Shelly I am counting down the weeks too! It has been lovely to have these 2 days off; I have got quite a lot done and feeling much less stressed. Can't wait for it to be like this all the time.

Horsey awkward situation - do you know her DH? Try not to let it play on your mind too much, at the end of the day it is not your problem and you have lots of other things that you need to focus on. Sorry can't help with the holiday problem as never been to any of them but from what Shelly says Corfu sounds perfect right now.

Hope you feel better soon Pasties

Sophiathesnowfairy · 28/06/2012 13:26

Burger king for lunch Blush. Crept past DH's desk so he couldn't ask where I was off to!
