Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 16:22

Whoopsie on the spelling 'your' worrying not 'you're worrying' (dumb ass baby brain - who stole my neurones?).

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 16:31

I know I know. I'm just such a worrier! Never thought the possibilty of having to move back home with my mum and/or dad temporarily would ever be something we had to worry about! But you're right, we won't be totally homeless (as in no roof over our heads homeless!) I know it will work out, and we won't be without somewhere for long, I just love my apartment so much and know we won't be able to afford somewhere as nice as it in the same area just now (not furnished anyway). sigh

Sophiathesnowfairy · 27/06/2012 16:31

We are just about to move into rented while we build I hope we have a better experience it sound really stressful. Try to distance yourself from it and concentrate on you. Easier said than done I realise. Xx

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 16:37

In some ways it's a good thing your current place is furnished? You'll have less furniture to lug around. Once you get encumbered with beds, sofas, etc moving in and staying with rellies for even a short while becomes a PITA and requires hiring storage. If we end up selling this place and have a gap before finding a new place - we could end up having to do similar. Arse, arse, arse. In the current market I'm just not sure we'll end up having the nice sort of transaction where you move out of one house and into the next on the same day..... Anyway - don't worry about what you can't change. Go and listen to the bump's heartbeat and try to figure out if what he or she is up to - if it's fast (disco dancing) or slow (snoozy) xxxxxx

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 16:48

Roll on the day we own our own home! My mum's house sold within a matter if weeks, but they're lucky enough to be buying a new build so don't have to worry about waiting for a seller to buy somewhere. My last house was unfurnished and I ended up selling/giving away most of my furniture when we moved down here for that very reason.

I'm out at the moment - hence the abysmal punctuation as my phone can't always predict what it is im trying to say- but might just have another go later. T had a shot last night and found a much stronger heartbeat and, unlike me, was able to count a healthy 160bpm. He loved it!

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 17:01

160 bpm eh? By the old wives' tales that sounds like a pink one!

applepieinthesky · 27/06/2012 17:11

Yep above 140bpm is a girl - supposedly. Mine was measuring 152bpm so we'll find out tomorrow if it's right. I've felt baby moving nearly all day today which is good.

I had a phone call from DP this afternoon at work. I don't know the details but his mum has been rushed in to hospital and is seriously ill. They have no national health service in Iran where she is and until she can stump up the money she won't get the op that she needs Sad DP is really upset and there isn't anything we can do to help. They bang on about fucking Islam but if you are poor and don't have insurance they will leave you to suffer in pain. Arseholes. Sorry about my language but I'm so angry.

horseylady · 27/06/2012 17:44

They can't do anything. Tenants are so well protected most people (both sides) just go with the flow. We rent out properties and basically leave people to it where possible. We walk past but any issues would always arrange an appointment. We are fussy over who we have in though!! Got a move in tomorrow the last person was in the house for 10 years so fingers crossed these will be similar!!

Just used my angel sounds!!! Bless very sweet mum and dad had a listen too!!

ShellyBobbs · 27/06/2012 19:19

Had scan today, thankfully everything was OK.......yellow one, aren't I good :)

Got the student midwife, midwife and doctor to gang up on hubby about homebirth, I'd love to have one but he won't have any of it saying something could go wrong. When I told them he thought this it was like a red rag to a bull. Needless to say, he's now booked into a open evening about homebirths next month at the local hospital :) so I could get my way after all.

MissMummy Sorry to hear that, last thing you need.

GTbaby · 27/06/2012 19:22

My fraggles heart beat was 149. And it's a boy! So wives tales are poop!

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/06/2012 19:30

shelly glad your scan went well :)

Only 2 days til mine!

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 19:32

Horsey if your last tenant stayed a decade it rather sounds like your the sort of person who should be a professional landlord :) - not the current crop of amateurs who bought their houses at peak on 125% mortgages and now won't sell at a loss so rent it out instead - with not a jot of knowledge on their legal responsibilities and health and safety requirements. They are dangerous and it's only time before a boiler goes bang and they kill someone :(

SwissArmyWife · 27/06/2012 19:32

Shelly glad your scan went well :) And fingers crossed your DH will come round to the home birth idea!

My baby's heartbeat was 150 and a boy, so maybe it's the other way around Wink

MissMummy what a complete joke, i'm so sorry you have to go through that, especially while pregnant!

Passmethecrisps · 27/06/2012 19:33

Evening all.

missmummy what a horrid situation. As horseylady has already said the rights are actually in your favour so try to stay firm.

We had our scan today. All present and correct so a big relief. Wriggled and jiggled the whole time then lay with ankles crossed. Don't do sexing in Stirling so staying team vagina/penis?? Mind you, DH has now become slightly preoccupied with what sex I thought it was. I wouldn't be too surprised if he decides that we should get a private scan. I would be ok with that but I would keep it a secret.

capedcrusader25 · 27/06/2012 20:00

Good luck with the house situation missmummy - never be bullied and always get support from CAB, etc.
Congrats to all those who have had lovely scans this week. Mine's in two days, had a really wobbly day today where I felt like I was going to break down crying every 5 minutes! Ridiculous really Blush
I'm thinking the same as you passmethecrisps - if all is well and we do find out I'd quite like to keep it secret!

ShellyBobbs · 27/06/2012 20:15

Thanks DH & Swiss, I didn't sleep last night at all and couldn't eat properly today until I'd had the scan, was so terrified Shock

Cape The wobbles may be down to worrying about the scan, it's a big deal but you've only got until Friday. There again we are an emotional lot at the moment and maybe we should just make the most of it while we can still get away with it :)

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 20:16

Thanks everyone. Took my chances and went to the sorting office tonight and was able to pick up THE letter. As expected, she wants us out. No explanation other than 'I want you and your things out by 27th August'. Fab... Showed it to DH as soon as he got ashore I didn't cry and he picked holes in it - she hasn't even signed it! We've agreed though to look elsewhere, but stay put till we've found the right place and not rush into somewhere with another shitty landlord. Although to be fair, she is the worst either of us have ever had - and that's saying something! I'm devastated and know we won't find anywhere as nice as this for as cheap in such a good area, but hey ho. We'll make it home. or move into my dad's spare room....

Apple how awful for your DP's mum. Makes me feel awful ranting about my situation, I can't begin to imagine what you must all be going through and really hope it sorts itself out soon.

Good luck on all the scan results. I'm swaying again on whether to find out or not. I hate surprises but love the idea of DH being able to find out after the hopefully very easy birth!

mrswee · 27/06/2012 20:26

missmummy I think in Scotland it's 3 months notice minimum, your DH will know. Plus you have till the end of august on your tenency. Plus in Scotland the housing rights are far in the favour of the tenent in comparison to england. I am pretty sure you will be fine until August at least. She def cannot get you evicted before then. No court in the land could do that so don't worry. She can't refuse to give you your deposit back over this either.

silver lining - you will get away from the bitch neighbour, landlady sound like fruit cake too!!

capedcrusader25 · 27/06/2012 20:28

I think it is the scan shelly :( I don't feel the baby move much and it's hard to imagine there's something actually in there!

mrswee · 27/06/2012 20:34

cross post! missmummy can't believe she didn't sign the letter! lol that means it is not legally binding so she hasn't actually given you notice!

apple sorry about your MIL, hope all gets resolved soon!

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 20:41

Our thoughts exactly mrswee. Hence we are now looking for somewhere new, but staying put until we find the right place!

ShellyBobbs · 27/06/2012 20:59

Cape I know exactly how you feel. I was lay on the bed today whilst she was scanning me and just staring at the clock, I wanted to know the exact time so if I was given bad news then I knew exactly when I was told. It didn't help that she was doing it for 40mins Shock only because little baba wouldn't stretch his/her legs for measurement. It won't be long until you are getting kicked out of bed in a morning Grin. 1 full day to go :)

GTbaby · 27/06/2012 21:25

I just found my first pregnancy stretch marks. Sad I have some already from putting on weight before. But I didn't want more Sad oh this sucks.

horseylady · 27/06/2012 21:46

Being a landlord is bloody hard work! But only at certain times. You just have to be available! I mean people live there!!! You spend a lot of time at home it should be a nice place. Anyway we don't intend on selling anything so perhaps that makes the difference? It's also easier for us having a long term tenant as change overs are hard work and costly! I also think regular testing and maintainance is essential. I do everything here so would do it for someone else!

I hope you get it sorted anyway! Best case scenario you get a nicer place to live :)

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 22:40

Had heartburn on and off for three days now - is it cos I'm carrying high, having a hairy baby - or eating junk? Well two out of those are known knowns... wonder if the parasite is a furry little hobbit?
