Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Morning! I've not posted for a while but have been trying to keep up with the news when I get a few moments to myself (rare!)

So sorry to hear about little's loss. Such a dreadful thing to have to go through and there really isn't much more I am able to say other than I have been thinking of you (not sure of you are still reading these threads?)

I had my scan on Monday, it was a week later than originally thought, and all is well. We decided not to find out the sex this time (we found out for DS) but I can almost guarantee that it is a boy! I had a feeling that it was anyway and the sonographer's reactions have made me more certain. He asked twice if we wanted to know the sex, the second time the scan was poised over the baby's nether region and he asked with such confidence that it made us both think that he knew. After that he occasionally referred to the baby as he!

I'm starting to get really tired again, a bit like in the first trimester, but keep forgetting to take it easy and then regret it the next day. Other than that I've got no major symptoms apart from the ongoing pelvic pain.

I've got a diabetes test booked in for a few weeks and another scan at 34 weeks as my last baby was big (10 lb 3 oz) so had to have an EMC. After the scan I have another consultant appt where they will advise me wether to go for CS or VBAC (depending on the baby's size at the next scan). For me there are pro's and con's to both but for the practical reason that I will still have to look after a young DS1 post the birth, I'd ideally prefer a VBAC.

Am off to Henley this afternoon as my husband is racing there, am v excited as he's never competed there before so it's a big deal for him.

Er, I don't often post but when I do it is massive!

Chunkychicken · 27/06/2012 09:45

Not posted in a while so will try to catch up briefly...

Congrats on the girls.

Feeling movements but very irregularly. Worries me at times but figure bubba is only small still...

Matalan does good pg swimming costumes.

Started NCT relax, stretch & breathe classes a couple of wks back. Lovely!!! Well worth it.

Pelvic pains have been eased by the stretch classes & my dream genii pillow. Totally recommend.

Not got a scan date yet. Good luck to those having their's soon.

Have Olympic tickets for the hockey. Not looking forward to getting to the venue at 7.30am at 24wks pg!!!

Have a MASSIVE bruise on my inner thigh. The worst thing is I don't even remember how it happened!! Really hoping that its just had because of the increased surface blood flow in pg & that it doesn't turn into thread/spider veins. I've had thread veins appear since puberty - think because I'm so pale & I bruise easily, so any slight vein damage shows up a lot.

Have a good day all :)

I forgot to say we had a 4d scan, they are standard here in Australia for the 19/20 week scan. It was not very clear at all. But it is still very exciting to have been able to see the baby. Our pictures were not very good at all, so I am glad we did not have to pay for it! We were told that it is called a 4d scan because you get to see the baby moving in real time.

ItalaItala · 27/06/2012 09:48

Good Morning

I hope you don't mind but I still check in occasionally to see how you are all getting on.

Sorry about your loss little

Glad to see all the positive scan results coming through. We will be finding out the sex of our bean towards the end of your scan list too Grin - EDD 16th July

StuntNun · 27/06/2012 09:59

Great to see you're keeping an eye on us Itala and good luck for next month.

PassMe I put olbas oil on my pillow last night and woke up blissfully clear. Course now I'm back at work I'm all bunged up again but it did give me a good night's sleep.

Missmummy I ordered the angelsounds doppler and got it yesterday morning, it worked really well for me, but I didn't count the beats. It sounded like a very fast horse though. Great for reassurance but could imagine it causing paranoia if I used it too often, so I will resist!

Shelly Good luck with your scan today, I hope all is well :)

I don't know if any of you can remember me saying I was worried about movements, but I had a funny feeling the placenta was in the way as I was only feeling them low down/at the sides. I asked the sonographer yesterday and she confirmed that the placenta is in fact on the front wall so it definitely put my mind at ease regarding movements.
This may be the same for those of you who aren't feeling regular movements yet :)

rowing i'm the same, get so tired these days, especially with the 5:30 wake up calls from DD! Just try and rest as much as you possibly can :)
Still having quite bad pelvic pain too, but have a referral to physiotherapy to assess it so hopefully they can help.

rowingdowntheriver · 27/06/2012 11:17

Thanks swiss, I have a lazy morning and am feeling a lot better now.

Forgot to mention earlier that mama's and papa's have a 50% sale on maternity clothes at the moment. I got a nice dress and top yesterday for under £40 in total (I love a bargain!) It looks like they also have nice swimsuits too.

StuntNun · 27/06/2012 11:20

Oh the heartburn is terrible. Anyone else suffering? I must get some Rennies. On the plus side I think I have a more relaxed attitude to pregnancy with it being my third DC. People keep asking me how I am and I just say fine. When they ask if I'm having any problems and I say, just a slipped disc and sciatica and bursitis and heartburn and tendinitis and carpal tunnel syndrome, then they look quite surprised! But hey I haven't had a period since February and my spots have cleared up so it's not all bad.

Six days until Spider-Man comes out at the cinema my scan. Can't wait to see baby again but I have to make sure it doesn't take too long as the family's off to see Spider-Man at six.

I had horrible heartburn when i was about 8 weeks, but it only seemed to happen when i ate white things, bread, cakes, rice, potatoes. Could the heartburn be linked to your diet at all?

applepieinthesky · 27/06/2012 12:28

StuntNun I have been suffering from heartburn although not so much in the last few days. Gaviscon is ok to take during pregnancy.

mrswee · 27/06/2012 13:33

hi everyone

I wonder if I have the same as SwissArmyWife and lane8.. Placenta on the front.
I have only ever felt slight movements and recently nothing for days again. But I had the heartbeat checked at the doctor last friday and several times in hospital through the week a couple of weeks ago. Both doctor and various midwives said 'that was a kick on the doppler, did you feel it?' I didn't feel any of them! maybe that's why.

mrswee · 27/06/2012 13:35

I have such a spotty chin.. it's sore and very annoying... ny skin gets quite bad, lots of hormonal spots when not pregnant. I seem to remeber it clearing up when pregnant with DD... may be it's a boy this time..!

horseylady · 27/06/2012 13:49

My babies trying to break out!!!!!! He's kicking so hard you can see his little limbs!! Causing much amusement on my lunch break!!!

Caused dh much amusement in bed last night watching him too!

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 13:59

Absolutely raging. Woke up this morning to a phonecall from our landlady telling us in her pigeon English that she was getting rid of flat. We asked her what that meant for us and she replied 'letter in post'. Little did i know that letter has to be signed for so nipped out for half an hour and came home to a red card from postie telling us to collect tomorrow. So i have no idea whether or not Im about to be made homeless. Arghh! Just when i started nestbuilding and getting used to the idea this would be our babys first home?!

Sorry for ranting, Im so upset, she told us last month we could renew our lease. She is a complete arsehole

applepieinthesky · 27/06/2012 14:26

Oh missmummy what terrible timing! Sad How much notice does she have to give you?

horseylady · 27/06/2012 14:51

Oh no that's awful! ESP if you know it's coming. Hope it's not too horrific!

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 15:23

Oh crap! The private rented sector in this country is a joke - we need much more protection for tenants especially with so many amateur sodding landlords around. While some folks are arsing around viewing property as an 'investment vehicle' (looking at the falls round here - good luck with that) it's peoples' lives they are messing with.

Legally you are entitled to two months notice (although if you are in the middle of a contract I think she might have to honour the full contract term unless there are break clauses?). Get yerself down to the citizens advice hon. I'd also be seeking compensation on the grounds that she suggested she was going to renew the lease and you have gone to expense in terms of nesting and making the place your own (I don't suppose she happened to handily put about renewing the lease in writing via email maybe?).

Legally you don't have to oblige any viewings of the property - you are entitled to 'quiet enjoyment' (which given your neighbour sounds a bit of a joke) for the duration of the tenancy, and so long as you change the lock barrel back at the end of the tenancy - you can even change the locks as she has no right to enter the property without your say so. I would make life as tricksy as possible for her in terms of selling it to be honest with you. But then I'm a bad person....

Chunkychicken · 27/06/2012 15:31

That sucks MissMummy. So sorry.

As for viewings, you could also do what my sister did when her stupid landlord let her do the viewings... Explained ALL the flaws, no holds barred; mice in kitchen, leaking pipes, broken front door, leaking windows & so on, all the jobs he refused to do, essentially. He still hasn't sold it, over 4yrs after she moved out.

applepieinthesky · 27/06/2012 15:40

I have had some really shoddy landlords in the past so I sympathise with you.

Luckily my current landlady is really nice and she even text me recently to congratulate me when she found out I was pregnant. I love the house where we live and I feel quite sad that eventually we will outgrow it (it?s only a 2 bedroom) and have to move. Although it is a pain for you to have to move now hopefully your next landlord will be much better.

MissMummy1 · 27/06/2012 15:47

It's a months notice but my tenancy doesn't run out until the end of August so I'm damned if I'm moving before then! DH is still offshore and I hate the stress of dealing with these things myself. Had a cry on the phone to him earlier about what we are going to do if we are getting kicked out and he's told me he'll sort it and there's nothing she can do before August. (He used to prosecute landlords for a living so if anyone knows how to play the system it's him!)

YW she didn't put it in writing. Best case scenario this mystery letter is from a new owner and/or letting agency (there's an Edinburgh based one who seem to be buying up all the properties in our development) saying we can stay and to take out a new contract with them. That way we could keep our home and not have to deal with her again, but as DH said, I'm being really naive. Aghhh!

Thanks for the advice and words of support everyone. I'm feeling so crap about it all, I hate change and uncertainty. Rest assured though, if we are being forced to leave I won't make it easy for her. I can be impossibly stubborn and difficult when I want to be.

(Oh and YW I had the locks changed a couple of months ago after finding out she thought it was her given right to come round whenever it pleased her - T spotted her car driving into the courtyard one day when he was off sick, clocking his car and then driving round the corner and phoning to say she was half an hour away could she come round!?!?!) Maybe a new start away from the nightmare landlord and crazy woman downstairs won't be a bad thing....

YellowWellies · 27/06/2012 16:20

Deep breaths and remember you're worrying isn't going to change anything. What will be - will be, and if you can really feck her off in the process (and hopefully forever put her off investing in property and pricing out the young) - go for it! T sounds like he knows exactly what he is doing (he's right I'm sure you're safe until August) - given his old job - let him take charge of it and you should just focus on growing a person and knowing that it WILL all work out in the end. Just don't let the worst case scenario whirl round your head - your wee one will not be out on the streets - you have far too many folks who love you who will make sure you are ok long before it comes to that.
