Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
capedcrusader25 · 26/06/2012 17:47

Have to say I feel the same about my scan. Friday seems forever away but I feel so anxious about it. I hate it when people get excited about whether we're going to find out or not...I keep trying to remind them its a serious scan but doesn't help. Just hope it goes well :( Congrats to all those who have had lovely scans lately though!

NervousAt20 · 26/06/2012 18:19

I think we're going to look at 3D/4D scans, does anyone know what the difference is? It's my birthday in a couple of months so think I'll ask parents for money and use that for a scan. It does seem like such a long time to wait to see our little one again and on my 20 week scan I only saw her for about 30sec max while DP watch the whole thing so I would really like to see her again and after DP see'ing pics of 3D scans he's sasinated

horseylady · 26/06/2012 18:27

Lillianna I'd have stayed off too. I had a patient coughing up blood yesterday. Cancer related but still scary. I refused to go near patients for a while after lol! (I don't have to have direct patient contact just wrong place!).

Yw that happened to me with the back/bum a couple of weeks back!! Now regularly getting kicked!!

Work collague came in today with her little girl was lovely to see her and I really wanted a cuddle but one of the other ladies who's also expecting just kept hold of her :( told my neighbour tonight though and she was thrilled :) was really nice!! I also think I upset another lady at work, more because I was fed up of people contsantly watching my bump. Am feeling very sensitive this week!

The nappy buying has commenced. Do you think size 1 or 2? I bought 2 as it said from 6lb upwards?! Nervous no idea what the difference is but I feel the same way!!

ValiumQueen · 26/06/2012 18:37

I think 4D has sound too, and you tend to get a DVD thrown in too. I am just going for 3D. I just want to know gender.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 26/06/2012 19:15

I had my scan this afternoon. We didnt find out although i was very tempted! I loved my DH telling me when our DD was born so will have that again which will be nice. It'd be easy to find out at work if i wanted but im hoping to resist!

TheDetective · 26/06/2012 19:21

Size 2 is the one you want Horsey!

I'm back on nights again, and my darling neighbours, who complained about my bathroom extractor fan keeping them awake (!!!) decided 8am this morning was the perfect time to get someone in to knock down the front wall, right by my bedroom window. And their fucking yappy little dog barked at the noise ALL day long. Needless to say, I've had no sleep, and am in a VERY BAD MOOD.

It has been a stressful couple of days, work is very very busy, and DP's car failed its MOT spectacularly, despite running perfectly. So we now have to cough up for repairs, that is if my wages go in the bank tomorrow! So far my child benefit has not found its way there...

On the plus side, this baby is so very active now! Movements can not be mistaken! DP can feel them too! It is just so lovely to feel! Makes everything seem real! I'm actually going to have a baby! My bump is a little bigger too.

With regards to seeing them, it varies, but anything from 24-28 weeks isn't unusual, it also depends on your size too.

SwissArmyWife · 26/06/2012 19:24

Hi all, the scan went well, all looks as it should be at this stage, and I am so relieved!
Took a little bit of persistence but the sonographer discovered it is a boy!!

I am so happy, one of each! :)

eversomuch · 26/06/2012 19:35

Woohoo! Congrats on all the scan announcements. So happy to hear that they've all gone so well. Have just done a massive update to the Stats List. Please do check that I haven't made any mistakes when you've got a chance.

By my count, so far, we've got 11 boys and 7 girls on the list. However, Petite and Lane also announced girls but their details are not on the list. Please feel free to add yourselves ladies, or PM me and I'll do it for you.

GTbaby · 26/06/2012 19:39

Right. Weird question time. It feels like fraggle is kicking me in the cervix? Is this just me? And also been getting scratchy feeling there. And only way I can describe it is like the scratchy feeling u get when u get a smear test. Pls say this is normal!

WestWinger · 26/06/2012 19:46

swiss fantastic news! Yay!

Think I can sense the onset of piles. :( Blush Last time I didn't get them til after the birth, but everything 'down there' feels so heavy and sore that I am sure I have varicose veins galore. Glamorous. Not.

Passmethecrisps · 26/06/2012 19:53

GTBaby I feel like I am getting feet in my cervix. For me it is like a dull prod which makes me jump slightly. I also recognise it from the smear. Seems to be sausage's favourite place to be.

Lovely to read positive scan results. I am not nervous but nervous about not being nervous if any of that makes sense? caped I know exactly what you mean by reminding people that you are going for a serious reason. I referred to it as the anomaly scan and people were wide eyed and asked if I meant the sexing scan. Considering my health authority don't do sexing, that is the one thing it isn't.

lilliana you did the right thing staying away for a few days. You would just worry if you went. It's great that your school have been accommodating.

My sinus business is no better - ended up taking today off in the hope that I could shift it with sleep. No luck. Anyway, term ends on Thursday so nearly there.

horseylady · 26/06/2012 19:59

Yes I think that must be what that odd feeling is. Makes me jump each time!!

Congrats Swiss!! Good luck to everyone else!! Really hope you'll all be fine! I was really worried before mine as was dh which is why we didn't ask about wanting to know till the end. Seemed unimportant until we knew everything was ok.

Keep thinking positively!!

GTbaby · 26/06/2012 20:24

Thank goodness I'm not the only one. I had crazy thoughts like what if it's my plug thing popping n detaching!

Saw my. Cousins 5 day old daughter at weekend. N I was about to bulb. I couldn't get over how beautiful she is. And so small. And that is less then 20 weeks I'll be holding my fraggle. N won't want to let anyone else hold him. I can't wait to meet him.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 26/06/2012 21:00

Congrats on all the good scan news! Ours is tomorrow afternoon and really looking forward to it!

applepieinthesky · 26/06/2012 21:15

capedcrusader I was just looking at the stats list and realised we are the same age, both having our first baby and due a day apart! Smile When is your scan?

Good luck to MadamGazelle Shellybobbs and anyone else with a scan tomorrow. I'll have my fingers crossed it goes well for you.

capedcrusader25 · 26/06/2012 21:27

Hi apple! :) It's all quite exciting (when I let myself not worry). I'm liking being around other people due at the same time, relaxes me a lot more.
My scan is on Friday, how about you?

ShellyBobbs · 26/06/2012 22:00

Swiss Congratulations on your boy :)

West I think I've got piles too, very sore when on the toilet, think I'll get some cream Blush

I've got my scan tomorrow, shitting it.................

MissMummy1 · 26/06/2012 22:05

Have any of the slightly mad mummy-to-bes who ordered their angel sound dopplers on the same day as me got theirs yet? (Friday or Saturday last week I think). Mine arrived this morning just as I was leaving for work. Used it tonight after my shower and think I found a faint heartbeat. And then a very definite kick. Such a relief, although it did seem to be a little slow? (I've read they should be around 150bpm but I only counted 120 tops) Maybe my imagination (or my own heartbeat). Worth every penny but beginning to think it's going to cause even more paranoia. Hope everyone has some success with theirs!

WestWinger · 26/06/2012 22:10

missmummy think the heartbeat ranges from 120 to 150. My Doppler always registers somewhere between 120 and 140 for my little one. Your heartbeat is prob almost half the baby's so you won't have got the wrong one!

Evilwater · 26/06/2012 22:18

Has anyone placed a headphone to baby?
I did this hoping to get baby to move, but no. My baby's movements are all over the place still.

I'm starting to suffer with constipation, which is leading to very smelly farts.
I'd love to have a Doppler, but I need to save money for when I'm on mat leave.

YellowWellies · 26/06/2012 22:23

I think that's why midwifes warn against getting them - for £20 they're great for reassurance (when and if they work) but not going to be as accurate as the real thing. If it's stressing you out hon just put it away xxx

applepieinthesky · 26/06/2012 22:45

missmummy 120 is within the normal range.

capedcrusader mine is thursday morning. It was supposed to be friday but got changed because they have tied it in with my consultant appointment and he only works on thursdays. So I've got my scan at 10am then got to see him straight after.

Apparently my nana is counting down the days to the scan as well. She is so excited you would think she had never had any grandchildren. She's got 30+ grandchildren and about 10 great grandchildren and she's still as excited about mine as all the others bless her.

DesperateHousewife21 · 27/06/2012 06:43

apple why have you got to see a consultant?
I'm supposed to see mine after the scan on fri but he's not there so won't see him til mon 9th, ds' 2nd birthday!

horseylady · 27/06/2012 08:45

Yes apparently mine came yesterday but it's at my parents so will collect tonight.

I had nightmare after nightmare last night :( feel exhausted today. Got myself in a right state over everything. Bloody hormones!!

applepieinthesky · 27/06/2012 08:53

DH Because my vitamin B12 levels are low so they have put me on tablets. The consultant said he wants to see how I'm getting on with them or if they will have to give me injections instead.

They have also tested me for a heriditary blood clotting disorder which my nana has got and he'll go through the results tomorrow. I expect it's fine because it was a couple of weeks ago now and my doctor's surgery hasn't called me. I'm sure they would if there was a problem.

If there are no problems tomorrow he said I can be signed back to midwife-led care.
