Despite the bump some days I forget I'm pregnant, especially as at 19+1 I'm still only getting very subtle movements from the bellydweller but I think its to do with their preferred position, my ample subcutaneous fat
, and the fact that this is my first - my twin sis' didn't feel her first make any 'oh that's definitely the baby not wind' type movements until the week of her 20 week scan so I'm not worrying. (honest)..... but today I woke up to the loveliest thing! :) :)
DH and I were struggling to get up and he had been pressing the snooze button repeatedly. I was just dozing on my back (naughty) when my belly suddenley went rock hard to the touch where my hand was resting on it - there was a very clear and very obvious back or bottoms up from someone going on. We could feel him / her just through the surface of the skin just below my navel. They were so close we could feel their spine! It was so weird to stroke and touch my baby (they hung around there for a good few minutes) and then feel them swim off into the depths of my (cetacean like) belly. DH felt the back / bum too! So I guess if junior is lying with their back outermost (please stay like that parasite, I don't want a back to back labour!) that would explain why most of the movements I'm feeling are so subtle - not having any sensory nerves for touch on my insides!
Anyway it really really was a lovely way to start the day. It sounds odd but being able to touch them and feel their wee back - has made it all feel a bit more real. There really is a tiny person in there!
It was also nice to realise where they are - as other than my bump I have no clue about how the organs get squished around and where the uterus is meant to be when - so I found this today which is a cut-away of how your body changes inside (I can't believe that my liver and stomach will end up behind my boobs at the end wtf!!!!) and where the placenta fills during different stages of updiffedness:

Can't wait to see him / her again on the 6th at our scan. DH and I have a wee treat booked for after - we're getting the ferry across to Hoy (the most beautiful of the islands up here) and are staying in a pal's bothy for the weekend - to make the most of roaring peat fires, beach walks, a bit of hill climbing (if he pushes me up) and fine food and for DH (bastard) fine whisky. We figure to make the most of stuff like this for a while - and it's only costing us our ferry fare (a tenner each!). Did anyone else do anything to celebrate their scans? Am also worrying about what happens if we get bad news? Other than my stalwart back up plan of 'get a big bottle of sauvignon blanc, some stinky cheese and a packet or five of marlboro lights and have a total woe is me bender' :(
