Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Lilliana · 25/06/2012 07:20

DH felt baby kick for the first time last night which was lovely and has put my mind at rest as I wasn't sure if I was imagining the movements or not!

I need at mat cozzie so will look into that thanks MrsWee, but would like a birthing pool so was thinking of maybe getting a tankini so I could wear the top at least in there, good idea or will I be so past it I won't care?

Not feeling too bad atm, have loads on at work so hoping that tiredness doesn't kick in again for another 4 weeks or I'm going to be in trouble! Hips are still hurting a bit at night but nothing too bad, I just find I get tired really quickly doing physical things (as simple as walking from one side of the school to the other Blush) Have to take my class out tomorrow and walking there so dreading it a bit but sure it will be good for me.

Not missing alcohol as not a big drinker but rare steak and runny eggs are another thing. I'm so glad I'm not pg over christmas as couldn't do christmas without cheese and pate. Have been eating shellfish though - NHS says it's ok as long as cooked and can't deprive myself of everything!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/06/2012 07:42

I think aqua natal is out for me too, I've got three pools round my way but they all do it at 11am ish mid week so no good if you haven't got anyone to look after an older child.

I think I'm going to get a maternity tankini, I'll take ds swimming with my friend and ive only got bikinis which are fine in Spain but not the local pool here!

Eeee only 4 days til my scan!

horseylady · 25/06/2012 08:50

Brill dh :) you excited? Or nervous?!

Passme I hope so!!! I really do!!

Bloody nightmare at work this morning!! I've only been here 90mins currently sitting with a tea to recover!!

SwissArmyWife · 25/06/2012 09:09

DH Hope your scan goes well :)

Mine is tomorrow -gulp-

DebussyHead · 25/06/2012 09:09

Had my scan last week - a boy! Seems a lot of boys this year.

How much weight have you all gained so far? I have gained 10 lbs at 20 weeks and not sure if this is too much. I gained 4 stone in total with my DD and it took a year for most of it to come off (never got rid of last 7 lbs) so really hoping I dont gain so much this time round!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/06/2012 09:20

I've gained about 10lbs which is about right apparently. If your bmi is underweight before you get preg (which mine was) you should gain more throughout the preg than people with a healthy bmi.

horsey both! I'm looking forward to seeing her again but at the same time keeping my fingers firmly crossed that this placenta issue will be ok.

applepieinthesky · 25/06/2012 09:28

I think there are several people with scans this week aren't there? Good luck to everyone.

Mine is thursday morning. So glad DP is coming with me because he couldn't come to the 12 week one.

Elizadoesdolittle · 25/06/2012 09:41

I did aqua natal and pregnancy Pilates when pregnant with DD. they are both in the evening though and it's actually easier for me to go during the day as the leisure centre has a crèche. DH works shifts so can't always be home in time for classes. Think I'll go to what I can and go swimming during the day. I found the classes so beneficial in my first pregnancy I don't want to miss out this time.

I'm not missing alcohol. I'm very much an all or nothing girl so used to be a binge drinker which I know is the worst type! Since I can't get drunk I don't miss it at all. Have had the odd small glass of wine or shandy but prob less than once a month. I do however like others miss runny eggs, rare steaks, pâté and cheese. Went out for a meal to a posh restaurant on Saturday for my mums 60th and the cheese board was to die for! Luckily I like any cheese so there was enough to satisfy my cravings. I've asked DH to take me back in a couple of years when I can take full advantage of it!

Got my baby jogger city mini being delivered tomorrow and I am stupidly excited about it. It's the little things eh Smile

Good luck to those with scans this week. Still got just over a week to wait for mine, but this pregnancy is going so quickly I'm not in any hurry and for once am waiting patiently, if a bit nervously!

daisychain76 · 25/06/2012 09:42

All this talk of wine is making me thirsty! Not a big drinker, but do like the odd glass. Am having the odd Cobra alcohol free lager at the mo, which I do like.

No aquanatal classes near me but there is an NCT yoga/relaxation class which I am meant to start this week. Only thing is it doesn't start til 8pm and goes on til 9.30 so don't know if I will have the stamina (plus don't drive and is a 20 minute walk there and back up a hill).

My scan is tomorrow. Can't believe how nervous I am. Taking the DCs along with DH, but now worried that was a bad decision just in case there is any issues. Hope everyone else's goes well.

Not weighed myself, but fairly sure eating half a banoffee pie every night is more likely to be responsible for any gain than the baby...

ShellyBobbs · 25/06/2012 10:38

DH Regarding the friends parents offering my 12 year old alcohol, yes she is very, very sensible and said she was glad I said no and didn't really want any. Fancy feeling pressured into drinking by 2 adults at 12! Thanks goodness she's got her head screwed on, I'm very lucky with her and it looks like my other 2 are following the same path.

Well I put on 5lb in a week the other week, but when I jumped on the scales on Saturday morning it looks like I've only put 3lbs on so far, but I was about a stone overweight before. Saying that, I'm now sat here scoffing Crunchy Nut clusters with milk chocolate mmmmmmmmm..........

horseylady · 25/06/2012 10:46

Shelly now I need crunchy nut.......good job I have a box at work!

MissMummy1 · 25/06/2012 10:52

ShellyBobbs your daughter is an absolute credit to you! I've taught so many 12 year olds who wouldn't have the same sensible, mature attitude - you must be so proud!

I reckon I have put on well over a stone already and I'm only 17 +4! I was quite underweight before getting pg though, but have gone from a size 8 to a 12/14 MATERNITY! Despite keeping up with dog walking and swimming, I've stopped is sailing and diving - and only because DH has deemed it 'too dangerous'. Hmmph. Here's hoping I can lose it all just as quickly!

RBS are still messed up and I still haven't been paid, meaning I can't get the car fixed this morning. Tempted to limp it to a garage en route to work and stick the bill for a new tyre on my credit card. I only ever use it for 'emergency use', not new shoes so I think this counts as an emergency!

Kyzordz · 25/06/2012 11:08

Got my 20 week scan later, nervous but then I guess these things are bound to make us pretty nervous! Still, it'll be good to hear all is well :) thinking positive and I love seeing bean on scans :) wish i'd gotten a morning appointment though, waiting today away is taking forever, scan not until 3:45! Congrats on your boy DebussyHead!

mrswee · 25/06/2012 11:09

Morning all.

I'm not really missing alcohol in general but I'm missing partying a bit! I'm a bit of an all or nothing girl too and I do like a good party or a night out in a club, though I don't go very often these days, I make sure I make hte most of it when I do.
I've missed a couple of great looking parties and saw all my friends party hard at a recent wedding which was harder and harder to watch as the night went on... I retired to my bed in the end with ear plugs in!

I dreamt the other night that I forgot I was pregnant and drank about half a bottle of lemon vodka before I remembered... not quite sure how that would happen in RL!

Cacacaz · 25/06/2012 11:33

Hello everyone, not been on here for over a week Blush

I have been missing alcohol, we have had several nights out recently, I do think it's more because I know I can't rather than actually wanting to drink. I tried some alcohol free pear cider, it was refreshing but very sweet.

Good luck to everyone who has scans, I was terribly nervous before mine too.

I had my 20 week scan last Monday, it was amazing to see my jellybean again. We didn't find out the sex, although I was ever do slightly tempted to Wink. My placenta is on the low side, so I have another scan booked for 32 weeks. I was having some pain at the weekend, which has now passed, dh insisted I phone the midwife who reassured us that it was probably just stretching.

I have been going to a lazy daisy birthing class for the last few weeks and I'm going to try aquanatal tonight.

daisychain76 · 25/06/2012 11:54

Anyone having DC3, there is an interesting thread on "chat" about having a third. (No idea how to link to things). First page is scarily negative, but then there's some lovely positive posts which really cheered me up. Feel really excited and happy about having a new little person, but still have the odd "did we do the right thing" wobble when a bit tired or emotional so reading that helped. Having said that, part of me is already thinking it would be nice to have DC4 at some point (won't tell DH that!). I have some friends who say they just knew when they were finished, really hope I get that feeling this time Smile

daisychain76 · 25/06/2012 11:55

PS Good news about the scan cacacaz, glad the pain has passed.

Brockle · 25/06/2012 12:13

Me too daisy really excited about DC3 but still occasionally have an OMG moment.May give it a read if I can get past the first page without panicking! The boys are so excited that I know we made the right decision but still scary. Definitely not DC4. I am much more tired tgis time than the previous pregnancies.

StuntNun · 25/06/2012 12:21

Hee hee Daisy I have been thinking about a DC4 as well even though this DS3 was supposed to be our last. I have a six year gap between DS2 and DS3 so I started thinking maybe this one should have a baby brother or sister. BUT I'll be 55 by the time this one finishes school so it seems more scary when you think about that. Plus buying four sets of school uniform? I feel faint just thinking about it. I do have a seven-seater car though so I'm theory I could have five!

OP posts:
Brockle · 25/06/2012 12:23

god daisy you weren't worng about that first page, but after that their posts really made me smile. I like the idea of organised-ish chaos - I think!

daisychain76 · 25/06/2012 12:48

Snap, Brockle I like a challenge and get bored easily, which I hope will help! stuntnun I have done those calculations too - If DC 3 leaves at 16 I will be 56 and DH will be 60 and then there's the possibility of 3 sets of uni fees to come. No chance of an early retirement for us, I think!

daisychain76 · 25/06/2012 14:30

Eek, baby brain strikes again. We'll be 52 and 56. Not quite as bad, I suppose!

applepieinthesky · 25/06/2012 14:44

I?m quite surprised how excited my younger brother is about the baby, it?s quite sweet. He bought me some babygrows today from Mothercare and he is counting down the days to my scan. I?ve got a list of people I?ve got to call Thursday once we know if it?s a girl or boy (hopefully). My nana said she needs to know because she?s waiting to knit some cardigans and blankets for me Grin

mrswee · 25/06/2012 15:04

Talking of baby brain....

I cooked an intire roast dinner last night under the grill instead of the oven... I only noticed when the yorkshire ouddings started to burn straight away! duh!
Turned out not too bad if a little crispy!

DesperateHousewife21 · 25/06/2012 15:21

My friend had her baby on thurs. 5lb 4! She brought him to the children's centre today and we had a hold but omg he was SO cute. Light as a feather and simply gorgeous, now it's making me want my baby even more.
