Passmethecrisps I have been the same this week with tiredness. I feel like I've gone back about 10 weeks. Maybe because baby is growing so much now and we're carrying extra weight around all the time.

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/06/2012 11:26

I've been having a horrible pain in my left side it feels like a stitch but more painful and doesn't go away.
It seems ok atm and I've been using the Doppler so I know she's ok in there. Can't wait for my scan on fri.

capedcrusader25 · 24/06/2012 11:37

Hi all
Been following this thread for a few weeks and decided to jump in with the action :) It's my first Mumsnet post as well - I'm a newbie!
My scan is on Friday too, I'm so nervous!! I don't really have many 'pregnancy' symptoms at the moment and always fear the worst :(
Hope you are all well today :o x

eversomuch · 24/06/2012 11:53

MissMummy Hope you're feeling better soon and the pain is nothing serious.

Hope your headache eases, Pasties.

Lilliana We went with a mattress from naturalmat.co.uk. They're based in Devon and make lovely organic mattresses. Not cheap, but very good. A lot of regular mattress are treated with various chemicals, and since babies spend so much time asleep, we figured it would be worth it. We got their mattress protector to go with it and have had no problems in the 15 months DD been using it. Mothercare had a bundle on offer last year for the mattress and protector.

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 12:12

MissMummy how are you feeling? Is your Ma with you? (say hello from me!). Hope you are feeling much better. Am sure it's just growing pains or junior cossack dancing on some internal organ - I got woken up by someone pogoing on my bladder and then the cat trying to climb on top of the bump too. Take care and if it gets worse - ring your midwife asap - that's what they are there for - so don't feel daft. It's tough with DHs job isn't it? All of you mummies with DHs working offshore or overseas, or in the military - have it very tough. With his new job - any ideas how they will play it come November to make sure he is on dry land for the birth? Bar locking him in the house? Grin

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 12:14

Everso - thanks v much for that link - sounds like just what we are looking for! Some of the fire retardant chemicals that conventional mattresses are treated with have some pretty nasty qualities. (says she who sleeps on a conventional mattress Blush)

MissMummy1 · 24/06/2012 12:34

Thanks all. Woke up to mum phoning and felt a lot better until i jumped up which males me think it is just muscular. I'm still swimming most mornings so might need to wind back. Feel a bit stupid for over reacting.

YW I've cancelled my mum for now because i feel like Im overreacting and theyre but think they're coming round this evening.

MissMummy1 · 24/06/2012 12:37

Oh and he starts his new job on Monday. Its a week of days, a week of nights then a week off. Its based in rosyth and when he's doing crew transfers he only has to be within 30 min callout so Will be spending lots of time at home. Not looking forward to the 12 hour safety boat shifts but hey ho! Everyone he works with seem lovely and have said they'll have emergency cover on standby from the beginning of November. Job really couldn't be more perfect!

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 12:38

Sounds like you are overdoing it hon! Still do your swimming just slower and perhaps fewer lengths? I dunno just because you're young and slim and healthy you think pregnancy isn't going to turn you into a lardy lazy arse like me eh? TAKE CARE and let yer Ma look after you tonight xxxxxx

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 12:39

AWESOME news on the new job - and especially the emergency cover for November Grin

WestWinger · 24/06/2012 12:45

capedcrusader welcome and congratulations!

Glad you're feeling a bit better missmummy.

I have had lots of energy this weekend so have blitzed the house, taken the doggy on a long walk and done lots of cooking. Even thinking of baking with DD this afternoon! Am now horizontal on the sofa though while DD has her nap. Lunchtime snooze? Don't mind if I do......

NervousAt20 · 24/06/2012 12:51

Glad your feeling abit better missmummy

Hope you feel better soon too pasites

Welcome capedxrusader when are you due? :)

Been feeling little one movements alot more strongly over the last few days Grin and felt her kick from the outside for the first time last night so shouted DP but as soon as he got to me she decided she didn't want to kick no more and would just wiggle instead so he couldn't feel anything :( bless him

Anyone missing alchol? I was never a big drinker but did enjoy a glass or two after a long crap day at work and missing it at the mo :( boo

DesperateHousewife21 · 24/06/2012 12:58

Welcome capedcrusader congratulations! Are you finding out what you're having?

capedcrusader25 · 24/06/2012 13:10

Thanks for the welcomes :) I'm due November 15th, time seems to be weirdly moving so slowly but so quickly at the same time! I can't wait to feel baby kicking a bit more strongly NervousAt20 - you're so lucky :o
DesperateHousewife We're not decided yet...everyone seems to enjoy telling us we 'must not' find out but I'm so impatient and keep dreaming about it!

eversomuch · 24/06/2012 14:10

YW Glad the link was helpful. I hate the thought of all the chemicals, too. We bought a new sofa a few months before DD was born and I was the only one who could smell it. Was pretty paranoid about having DD near it, especially at the beginning. NaturalMat do make grown-up size mattresses too and I would LOVE one, but they're soooo expensive.

Glad you're feeling better MissMummy. Take it easy today. Congrats on DH's new job -- sounds great.

Congrats and welcome, Capedcrusader. Will add you to the stats list next time I update, or feel free to have a go at it yourself. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/1485512-November-2012-Stats-List?reverse=1 Good luck with the scan this week!

Nervous Not a big drinker here, either, but I am looking forward to having a nice glass of wine once baby's out. Interestingly, though, since I gave up alcohol when TTC DC1 two years ago, I have not been sick, other than for a few days of sniffles once or twice. Used to get horrible head colds every few months. Not sure if the alcohol was to blame, but I suspect it didn't help the immune system much.

capedcrusader25 · 24/06/2012 14:17

Thanks eversomuch - can I leave it to you to update the stats? I'm a bit rubbish! Wink x

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 14:22

I have to confess I've had a few cheeky glasses of wine whilst updiffed - i.e. for our wedding anniversary and other special occasions. No more than one small glass at a time - but m'eh... it felt like a real treat. DH has orders he has to go and buy a big bottle of sauvignon blanc and keep it chilling in November along with lots and lots of stinky cheese for me to feast on (and figure out how to balance the wine with BFing)...

applepieinthesky · 24/06/2012 14:44

Welcome capedcrusader Smile

I don't miss alcohol at all but I used to go several months at a time without having any at all so this is no different really. I do miss my soft cheeses though. I'm addicted to cheese and I add it to nearly everything I cook!

MissMummy1 · 24/06/2012 15:03

another one not missing drink here! Out of all my uni friends I was the only one with a car so well used to playing designated driver. In fact, I think i'm missing shellfish and posh cheese much more than wine :-(

(PS, i know you can technically still eat shellfish if it's cooked properly, but DH dives for it in the forth, and there's no way Im taking any chances with any of the nasty radioactive pollutants in there right now!)

MissMummy1 · 24/06/2012 15:07

Oh and for anyone who is missing a drink but not wanting to have any, becks blue and some of the schloer varieties (the rose ones an alright compromise) are a nice alternative. And stocking our drink fridge with these instead has halved our weekly food shop. DH's not impressed though lol!

ShellyBobbs · 24/06/2012 16:30

Pasties It's not the same as soapnuts, quote for eco egg "hypoallergenic cleaning pellets. These pellets naturally activate in the water to gently lift away dirt and grime, without using any harsh chemicals." I've used mine now for about 15 washes and am totally satisfied with it, it's even got my daughters clothes clean :) Would say I'm getting the same results as detergent.

capedcrusader25 Welcome, we're a chatty lot on here so you have to check in everyday so as not to miss much :)

MissMummy Hope you are feeling better soon.

Nervous I'm one of those people who has to have the whole bottle of wine if I have a glass, I love the stuff, also love white beer and I do have more than my weekly units when I have a tipple. Strangely I haven't missed alcohol at all and I used to love Friday nights with my red wine. Don't think I'm going to bother at all until Christmas day when I get my first Christmas off in many years :)

Walking round shopping today and full of aches and pains in the tops of my legs and groin, have now been instructed to stay on the settee, get on mumsnet and the tea and washing up will be done. Result!

As I said before, hubby's wage is in the 'theft zone' of the Natwest/RBS debacle, he was told 'unofficially' that it could be up to 2 weeks before his account is credited with his wages!!!! Who is making the interest in the meantime?

Oh yes and something else. My daughter who was 12 last month text me last night as she was staying at her friends house for the night, she said her friend was having a small bottle of WKD and has been offered one (by her mum), what should she say? I had to read it again a few times before I could believe it. Obviously I said no........

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 16:33

Ahh see I've been pigging out on shellfish - but we can buy scallops and lobster by the carrier bag for just a few quid from the Orkney fishermens' co-op and - even with Dounreay I do trust that the waters here are damn pristine (helped by the fact that my work involves environmental impact assessment and water quality assessment so I get to see the raw data!). Would just be nice to have a bottle of plonk with it. Becks blue is ok - but I drink it much faster than real booze - I don't know why. Equally I have no doubt that in ten years time there will be a bunch of new foods added to the foods to avoid in pregnancy list - including much of what I'm eating so I'm trying to be realistic. Given our polluted world - sadly most of the pollutants our wee ones are facing are stored in our own bodies.

YellowWellies · 24/06/2012 16:39

BTW anyone affected by the RBS / Natwest / Ulsterbank shit storm - make sure you get a copy of your credit reports from all three credit reference agencies (in a month or twos time) as despite the banks saying you won't be out of pocket - you will very likely have a damaged credit score if payments bounce and this could cost you thousands of pounds in the future if you're trying to get loans, credit cards or mortgages. Get your reports (experian, equifax and call credit are the 3 big credit reference agencies in the UK) and if you have any defaults or other black marks which arose during this period - get in touch with your bank to write a note for your credit file and appeal to the agencies as the fault was the banks not yours. Equally make sure you make the bank pay if you have to buy your credit reports.

Passmethecrisps · 24/06/2012 18:17

just woken up from another snooze. Got to stop doing that.

Pre-pregnancy I would class myself as a fairly heavy drinker. Love wine of all colours and pints of lager didn't go a miss either. Interestingly I have been fairly non-plussed about booze. Have had becks blue which is fine but settled into caffeine free tea and various tasty diet drinks. I'll be honest and say I was quite worried about not drinking - our social lives pretty much revolved around booze. I wish I was one of those people who could say they don't need alcohol to have a good time - I have surprised myself though. Having said that I am looking forward to a big glass of red and some pâté come November.

We had considered these ball things - I can have very sensitive skin. I wouldn't discount them in the future.

I have some condensed milk to use in the fridge . . . Can't really be bothered but the end result of whatever I make will be worth it I am sure.

Welcome caped!

capedcrusader25 · 24/06/2012 18:42

Thanks :) I've noticed this week that I'm so tired again! I spend all weekend napping Blush but I'm guessing its a growth spurt?? Also has anyone else had very painful wrists? X
