Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrswee · 18/06/2012 10:09

So an update.
I have had a hard weekend. been in and out of hospital 3 times including a saturday night stay.
I have unexplained abdominal pain. They really have no idea why but I keep getting episodes of terrible pain, yesterday was so bad the only pain I have had like it was when I was in labor with my DD except this lasted 4 hours, not coming and going with contractions, just there the whole time. They have given me dyhydrocodein which has worked but didn't yesterday. The pain just subsided by it's self and I was ok when a doctor could finally see me.
I have had all manner of tests. Baby is fine, cervix still closed. They just don't know but say that at this stage they are happy with the baby and see the pregnancy as doing fine. Which is a relief.
I am off work all week and we will see after that. It's possible I have been doing too much, had a very busy physical week this week. So shellybobbs rest, don't end up like me!!

I have a scan today at 11.50 for my own reassurence. They don't think it will show up anything bad but let me have it after I have such a scary weekend. So fingers crossed I get to see a happy little baby again today!

I was planning to start my mat leave on my birthday the 9th of Nov. But it might be earlier. I hope all will go back to normal and I can start then because I probably can't take as long off this time as we are much more pushed for money these days. bah.

gardenpixies32 · 18/06/2012 12:16

mrswee sorry to hear you are having a rough time. I hope you start to feel better soon.

Have they ruled out gall stones or have you been scanned for them? I know a lot of women who suddenly develop gall stones during pregnancy. I have gall stones and it is awful. So painful. I have never given birth but some women say it is more painful than childbirth! Luckily for me I haven't had an attack since I was around 8 weeks pregnant.

Maybe worth mentioning to the hospital next time you are there?

SwissArmyWife · 18/06/2012 12:18

mrswee it sounds like you have had an awful time of it - i'm so sorry to hear. Thank god the baby is ok though, and I hope your scan went well.
I think you should take as much time off as you can get away with, it sounds like you need to do some serious resting up!

mrswee · 18/06/2012 12:38

Hi again
Just had the scan and baby was fine. Sonographer said the pregnancy looked fine and no cysts or anything like that.
I have asked about gallbladder and kidney stones. They said there would have been indicators in my bloods if OT was a problem like that.
So far today I just have a really sore back, which was part of the pain yesterday but not all of it.
I've probably done my back in sitting for hours on end on these mean unforgiving chairs they have at the hospital!

georgee · 18/06/2012 12:52

So glad all well with the baby mrswee, you must have been pretty concerned. Glad you've had a thorough checking over too, that is a reassurance.

Not the same really at all but with my last pregnancy I had a lot of cramps in my first trimester, this time much more in my second. Yesterday they were as strong as they ever have been (though nowhere near yours) and we're at the same stage of course. Maybe it's something to do with second pregnancies. Hope the pain continues to improve.

Cross fingers this is just one of those weird things associated with this stage and that it will be a distant memory by the time you come to take mat leave.

YW hope all improving with your skin. I've heard (not sure where from) you can develop allergies in pregnancy to things that never bothered you before. Might be something to consider. Although it would probably help if I had more evidence for that than something I remember hearing!

DonnaDoon · 18/06/2012 12:54

Glad youve been given the all clear MrsWee. From what youve described it sounds like youve had ' rooming in' which is what I had a few weeks ago...perhaps babys had a growth spurt and all your pain is from everything getting shoved over to make room for him/her. When I had it I literally thought I was in labour too...and yes it is time to start slowing down and put your feet up...you must listen to your body x

horseylady · 18/06/2012 13:35

Mrswee glad the baby is fine and everything appears normal? I've not really got anything to add other than muscles ripping? That's agony? Anyway rest up and take it easy!!

WestWinger · 18/06/2012 14:09

mrswee so pleased all is ok. Make sure you do rest and take extra care of yourself.

DesperateHousewife21 · 18/06/2012 15:07

mrswee sounds painful, glad it all seems to be ok now. Rest as much as you can!

Cacacaz · 18/06/2012 16:13

mrswee I'm glad all is okay with baby, can't even begin to imagine the worry and stress you have been under.

horseylady · 18/06/2012 16:25

Is anyone buying nappies yet? Just wondering when to start!!

kirrinIsland · 18/06/2012 16:34

mrswee glad the baby is ok. Make sure you rest up and take it easy.

horsey I bought nappies every other week or so from about 20 weeks with DD, put them in a cupboard and promptly forgot all about them. I did remember in time to use some of them but I still have 5 packets that will do for this ine when it arrives!

horseylady · 18/06/2012 16:50

Ok brill. They just had offers on, wasn't sure how many is too many and how many they use? Would you just buy new born size? Or some bigger too?

applepieinthesky · 18/06/2012 17:03

horsey my dad has bought me two big boxes of huggies newborn nappies which I have worked out should be enough for the first month. I plan on buying more in the next size up as well.

Lilliana · 18/06/2012 17:03

I have got some nappies that I had vouchers for to make sure I used them before they expired, none that I've paid for though!

Thanks for the link Swiss have watched it so I can show DH when he gets home. Also had to say mmmmm pancakes, I've eaten a few batches since getting pg and love them.

I think I've felt kicks today Grin was getting abit worried but assembly must have been boring for baby as he/she started kicking away!

Glad all is ok with baby Mrswee and hope you feel better soon too.

ValiumQueen · 18/06/2012 17:09

I used washables for my first two, but am treating myself to disposables for this one. Washables are very cute, but give them a huge bum, so little clothes do not fit well IMO. Nappies are always on sale somewhere, and I can recommend Aldi ones for quality and price.

Nearly bought a vintage silver cross pram today, in grey jumbo cord. I did not, as I could not get the image of a soaking wet cold DD2 sitting on top of it. Have pretty much decided on a Phil and Teds.

Scan tomorrow, gulp!

horseylady · 18/06/2012 17:13

Apple how many is that? Yes collecting vouchers!!

Vallium looking at reusables, how many of those do you need? Thought I'd use disposables for when we went out/away etc and prob for first few days!! Do they cause much extra washing? Sorry if I'm sounding totally dumb but I literally have no idea how many nappies a baby cab get through in a day?!!

StuntNun · 18/06/2012 17:25

Horsey over ten a day in the first few days down to a minimum of about four when they're on solids and approaching potty training.

OP posts:
applepieinthesky · 18/06/2012 17:29

Do they really get through 10 a day? I think I said I had a months worth based on using about 6 a day? Oh I might have to rethink then. I am pretty clueless though.

Thechick · 18/06/2012 17:29

mrswee sorry about your awful weekend, glad its better now.

horseylady I honestly haven't even thought about nappies. Im 18 weeks so Im not sure how ahead you guys are. We havent even decided if we are going to use disposables. Not sure if Im being too laid back about all of this baby malarky??

horseylady · 18/06/2012 17:34

Vallium also good luck for the scan!!! Are you finding out the sex?!!

horseylady · 18/06/2012 17:38

Chick 21 weeks!! To be honest I was in sainsburys, they'd got an offer on and I thought is it too soon? I decided yes but am now changing my mind if they get through 10(?!) a day!!!!! I also need to work out the sizes too. Right an hour for my next supermarket trip!!

shanelle5 · 18/06/2012 17:49

On the subject of nappies, im going for reusables again, mostly on a cost front they are SOOOOO much cheaper and I happen to love the big bum squidgy look too Smile although the tots bots all in ones are now so small they are no bigger so they have improved a lot. My delivery came today of 8 fluffy, soft, white, yummy bamboo nappies which cost £38.00. I will make it up to 20 before babies born, spending around £100-£150 and the average cst of disposables over a 2 year period is over £1000 Shock And thats without even mentioning the cost to the environment.
Im just tight and also a bit of a hippy mum, not for everyone but just thought as it was mentioned, if anyone is interested or wants any advice, happy to give it. Hope I dont sound like a condesending old bat! Ill get off my soapbox now Blush On a different topic, my stomach muscles keep doing that ripping thing, its bloody agony! Ive been sneezing a lot and however I hold mself, most times I get it. I went to aqua natal last Friday and struggled through the class, Its starting to pee me off but I guess after 5 pregnancies my poor "muscles" are quite f*** Wink

ShellyBobbs · 18/06/2012 17:54

Horsey as a rule, change them about every 3 hours.

MrsWee It sounds awful everything you've been through this weekend, hope you are feeling much better and your mind is at peace that everything is OK with the baby. I'll take your advise and not do so much, it has to be your body telling you. Stay in bed as much as you can.

YW You can become allergic to loads of ordinary stuff all the way through pregnancy due to surging hormones. Don't know if it was here but there was a discussion about not being allowed false eyelashes in salons due to risks of allergies to the glue. It could even be the material of your clothes that have suddenly thrown up an allergy, sounds like it's quite concentrated around your midrift so have you got new knickers, pants etc.?

Well didn't get my lazy day, it was just too nice but I do have a new bag and purse to show for missing a bit of kip. Also have some new business cards and leaflets that are very swanky that we picked up today :)

How much weight are you all putting on? I put 5lb on last week! Can't even blame it on crap food because I'm still on my health binge.

horseylady · 18/06/2012 17:56

Shanelle I'm defo interested!!!!
