Hiya,
Thought I would start a thread as I couldn't seem to find one
I had a BFP yesterday - which by my estimations makes lo#2 due early November! I already have a ds who is 15 months (14/11/04) and my BFP with him was 2 days earlier than this one, how strange is that?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know anyone that joins this thread and wishing everybody a happy healthy pg

Off to bed now.. I would second ginger tea seems to work for me.

Cece I hope that the bleeding stops - fingers crossed for you.

Congratulations to little mermaid and novi.

staceym11 · 14/03/2006 16:35

hi everyone, have had a few waves of nausea (sp??) today but nothing bad, told my dad and bro today, cant keep it a secret as my body has decided to give out and i cant wear my jeans/small(er) joggers any more!! its thinking, iv done this here we go, lets let it all hang out!!!

Mummy2Toby · 14/03/2006 16:42

congratulations to all the newcomers and sending lots of sticky babydust to those with slight bleeding - but I am sure everything will be fine Smile
Stacym11 - I am with you on the body knowing what it is doing idea! I am only 7 weeks (I think) and I can't wear my jeans anymore! Luckily I still had a pair of adjustable maternity trousers in my wardrobe, so am living in those and traccy bottoms at the moment Grin
My mum is convinced I am having twins but I think I have just got bigger quicker as it has only been 16mths since I had ds!
I am also finding that eating little and often is working for the nausea - but I do feel like I could eat an 8 course meal every hourBlush I refuse to give in to it though - I can't afford to get too big with ds to run around after.
Take Care all xxx

Hey cece hope things have settled down.

Tried the ginger tea but it seems to give me indigestion as do most herbal type teas - just have to stick to water and decaf coffee/coke.

Would thouroughly recommend doing midwifery training. I trained in 98/99 and it was wonderful. You never really get over the miracle of seeing a bump turn into a beautiful baby. Its such a special and priveledged time to spend with any woman. The hospital I was at was very medical and there was loads of c/sections so it put me off a bit but the actually midwifery side of stuff is amazing and although there are the occassional upsets it is generally a really positive and happy environment to work in. I nurse two days a week 8:30 - 4:30 on District which fits in fine with my boys esp as dh isn't good at coping with (my) shift patterns! Miss midwifery though esp when I'm pg and surrounded by other pg women.

Spoke too soon about my tummy not getting bigger yet - tried to put my uniform trousers on this am to go to work but can't get the top button done up - will have to dig out the belly belt.

HopingCat · 14/03/2006 16:57

A lot of people have mentioned that they are struggling with trouser buttons already. Is this something I will have to wait loads longer for because it's my first? Should I be getting maternity clothes so I'm ready or just waiting until I need them?

spinach · 14/03/2006 17:54

just wait till you need them, no point buying them before your shape changes. and dont rush it, by the end of the 9 mnths you'll be so sick of your maternity wardrobe!
I'd love the luxery of trying to eat before getting up, i have a 2 year old which prevents that

CattyB · 14/03/2006 18:07

Hi hopingcat definetly don't rush - I remember 1st time round my jeans were still just do-able at 20 weeks but then I became enormous (ds was 9lb 14oz). Now I have quite alot of friends that are also mummies we have a bag a stuff that gets passed around to whoever is pg. Its amazing to share clothing with friends who are usually skinny wee size 10s (I'm nearer a 16) but testament to just how stretchy lycra is!
No luxury of snacking in bed prior to getting up here either but I do usually go to bed at night with a big bowl of cereal and so far the nausea has struck first thing.

fatbetty · 14/03/2006 20:19

Hi there! I thought I would drop in on this thread and join you. Did my second test today to confirm that I'm pg with no.3. DS1 is just 3 and DS2 is 19 months. While I'm really excited about being pregnant again, I'm feeling a bit like "what have I done!!!"....especially as DS1 was throwing tantrums tonight.

Just wondering if any of you have had surgical procedures done while pregnant. I lost my hearing in my right ear in November and I was suppose to have an operation performed to possibly help restore some hearing at the end of this month (this of course was scheduled before I knew I was pregnant). The operation would require a general anathestic so it's pretty much out of the question. Just wondering about local anathestic. I contacted my doc today about it and hope to hear from him and see if it can be done after the pregnancy, or if there is some alternative.

fatbetty · 14/03/2006 20:21

With DS2 I had horrendous morning sickness and I used travel sickness bands and that helped a bit ease the sickness. Still felt horrible all the time. So far with this baby, I haven't felt too bad. Have a few waves of nausea but they don't last too long. knock on wood.

staceym11 · 14/03/2006 20:31

hoping cat, just wait till you need them, with dd i didnt need maternity clothes till about 4 months as the body stretchs slowly, but as soem of us are on our 2/3rd baby the body seems willing to plump out quicker!!!

cant get my trousers on without feeling uncomfortable, will just have to live in joggers until my parcel comes through from ebay of maternity clothes.

i would recomend ebay to you acctually as the maternity clothes in the shops are so expensive, you can get some really nice bits off there for cheap, its not like you'll be in them for too long (though it feels like a lifetime)!!!

welcome fatbelly!!! congratulations, you wont feel any doubts once the baby is here and settled in (well not many) although itl probably be bloody hard work! lol

I've added the new ladies to the stats list Fatbelly I don't know what your due date is feel free to add it if you want to.

Feeling soo sick it's horrible :(. Not been sick yet but it is only a question of time ugh. My usual resort of ginger biscuits and soda water aren't doing it for me at the moment.

I'm a bit up and down with fitting in my clothes, some days i struggle and others i don't, but tend to be bigger in the evening. I'm still in my ordinary clothes though which is good. Managed to stay in ordinary clothes until 5 months last time which was great, I have my fingers crossed that I can do something similar this time, but that's not sounding likely from your experiences.

Right off to do a tele conference and then bed.

Talk to you tomorrow.

h x

cece · 14/03/2006 20:50

The bleeding seems to have eased off again now so resting has helped. Hope all having a nice evening. May go to bed and watch CSI in a minute!

MeAndMyBoy · 14/03/2006 20:54

I'm glad to hear that Cece, take care and hope a good nights rest helps too.

fatbetty · 14/03/2006 21:03

My due date is the 17th of November. MeandMyBoy, thanks for writing out all who are expecting.

Cece, glad to hear that you are getting some rest and are doing better.

staceym11 · 14/03/2006 21:23

oh cece im glad the bleeding has eased, fingers crossed it stays away and that beanie sticks!!!!

im bored, dp still away and dont want to do the ironing! somebody please talk to meeeee!!!!

staceym11 · 14/03/2006 21:38

ok everyone obv. in bed think im off too!!!

goodnight ladies!!!

CattyB · 14/03/2006 22:29

Sorry you were bored staceym - it would have been good to chat - too busy lounging and watching the goggle box. Sleep is far better than ironing hope you didn't feel compelled to resort to it - almost a fate worse than death! I'm definetely in the "give it a good shake and wear it for an hour and no one will know any different" school of ironing.

cece glad the rest did the trick - hope tomorrows a less worrysome (sp??) day.

welcome fatbelly and congratulations. 3 is the magic number - one babe is major culture shock/life changing stuff, 2 (esp close together) are just knackering BUT then 3 is fab as you're body has forgotten what sleep is and you know what you're doing!! (not sure what #4 is about - fill you in in 9 months time)

Sleep as well as you all can.

staceym11 · 15/03/2006 07:39

nah didnt resort to the ironing, watched the house off obbsessive compulsives instead, was quite good actually!!!

dp coems home today so i might get some sleep! dd been a pain inthe bum as teeth are hurtin poor cow, and im knackered! lol such is life!!!

CattyB · 15/03/2006 09:58

Hope you get to sleep til the w/e - hopeful thinking I know but it would be nice!

Top tip for next time babes has sore teeth - benylin children's night coughs. Really meant for poor wee sausages with bad coughs but also good for legally drugging your children when they are not sleeping or to re-establish sleep patterns. Not that I would advocate such behaviour or anything.....Wink

mygirllolipop · 15/03/2006 10:08

Hc - don't worry about mat clothes just yet! Like spinach says you will be sick of them by the time the birth approaches (and for a little while after too!). I agree with Stacey and have bought mat clothes from eBay. There's also a \link{www.maternityexchange.co.uk\this website} which might be some use. I find DP and H&M quite cheap too. But I'm absolutely loving Catty and her friends' mat clothes sharing idea. That means you can buy clothes you want they get the wear out of them. Also means you don't spend a small fortune as you get more clothes for your money! I'm also loving Catty's school of ironing - woman after my own heart!
There was one thing Catty - you say you are having your fourth baby, what are you doing about a car? We're having our fourth and we bought an 8 seater in Dec, still wondering about all the car seats fitting in!
welcome fatbelly. I'm sorry I have no experience of surgery during pg. how long do you have to wait to see your Dr?
Cece - hope you are well today.
I'm a bit nervous today. I'm 5 + 2 which is when I started bleeding when I MC'd. I'm OK so far but on knicker watch! Off to GymBabes soon, and have a stinky nappy to change first!

CattyB · 15/03/2006 10:53

Good for you - on holiday from work today but instead of housework I'm sitting here playing sudoku - oh well...

Fingers crossed baby stays put. Car wise I bought a 2nd hand Fiat Multipla last year - fine car but I just wrote it off by driving it to the garage after the littlest bump. I live in the country need to do the nursery run (there's a school bus), go to work etc etc and basically can't do without a car as there is no public transport other than the postbus twice a day. As the "approved repairer" couldn't bring me a courtsey car I drove my car so I collect one and melted the engine on the way there Angry. It happened almost 4 weeks ago and I'm still waiting on a settlement. Esure have really let me down.
Was looking about for another and was thinking about a VW Sharan or Seat Alhambra. What have you got? The Multipla was a decent car and had a reasonable sized boot as well as passenger airbags being turned off with the ignition keynbut as its got just the 6 seats it means that once baby is here no more family outings with friends in tow. Still need to go to the garage with the double buggy to make sure it fits. The airbag in the front can also be turned off so new beanie can go there and the others can all sit in the middle row - when dh is there too guess he'll just have to be right at the back or else the fixed car seat put there and new beanie in the middle. The eldest 2 are in highbacked boosters at the mo but the VW/Seat has build in child seats that fold into the seats meaning they can be easily tipped.
The logistics of 4 kids are quite a thought - car wise, house wise, holiday wise..... oh well we'll manage.

mygirllolipop · 15/03/2006 11:15

We've got a Toyota I think it's a Lucida Enima it's not got badges on as it's an import so dunno what it is really! It's got great boot space, we've got two pushcharis in the back at the minute! The middle row of seats can face back or front and there's loads of leg room. I think Japanese cars are well built too and we've had no probs yet. And it's a good drive too. You can get them quite cheap used, around 4 grand.
Esure wouldn't have me! You must be well peed off with them.

spinach · 15/03/2006 11:34

fatbelly, I had a general 10 days a go, they thought i was ectopic, turned out to be massive cyst and baby is fine so far... dont know if that helps you any. I didnt have a choice though and i probably would have opted to wait if i could have.

cece · 15/03/2006 11:36

Hi there,

Car wise I am going to have to chnage my escort as the middle seat belt is only a lap one...

My firend had a Sharan - we used to get 2 adults, a baby and 3 children aged 2-6 in it on our trips to the park. But alas she now has a fourth so we have to take two cars!

Quick update; a bit of colour on wiping this morning but so far nothing else. I wish I could get a scan though just to check....

spinach · 15/03/2006 11:39

hi cece, have they booked you a scan at all? i had what you're describing in my first pregnancy, all was fine, and have had it a little this time too , been more worried this time cos of all the surgical stuff they did early on. Hope you're ok.
