ImissMiniPop · 06/06/2012 23:51

Oh yes! Blush I thought I'd be done with bleeding, but you still get it after a c section I'm afraid, so used up a lot of pads.

Also, on the c-section top tips post I started someone suggested using a maternity pad to cover the scar and stop it getting sweaty or from clothes rubbing on it, which has worked so far. :)

hamncheese · 07/06/2012 08:15

Thanks all had a lovely day with my Dad yesterday. Was raining a lot in Glasgow but nearly all dry out west so that worked out nice. When he retired he sold his car and bought a van which is customised into a camper can in the back so it drives like a normal van but has a bed, kitchen, tiny toilet and shower in it!! So we had lunch stopped beside Loch Long in it! Also went to this disused site that used to be a WW2 torpedo range which is now all abandoned and decayed. That's twice my baby has trespassed on government/MOD property haha! Took Dh's camera and got some brilliant photos. Don't know if anyone else is into that kind of stuff but it is amazing seeing trees growing out of metal and nature/weather overtaking things. Was a good day and today is someone's birthday at work so having a celebration lunch and then dinner out.

Sorry to hear you are having bother expressing poppy, have you been able to see mini again recently?

3bears yes baby movements are totally like alien now, whenever it moves I can touch that bit and work out if it is a foot or a bum or a knee LOVE IT!

For birthing clothes they have big long T-shirt type nightdresses at primark which have buttons on the front for skin to skin, they are only £4 too if you want something relativley disposable

Jealous of your house progress whiteangel sounds great though

On that thought Lois DH last night told me he was so proud of me and how tough I was with all the crappiness of pregnancy. Practically made me bawl... as does everything, he's a sweetheart

NeedlesCuties · 07/06/2012 08:35

Morning!

DH was working till 8:30pm last night, as he does twice a week. By the time he got home I was almost curled up on sofa asleep. Feeling useless that daily living looking after my 2.4 year old is knackering me! I love being a SAHM, but would really love some help from family/friends every so often. It doesn't happen. Sooo, that leaves me a bit panicked about how I'll cope with 2 kids, but I guess I just need to get the head down and plough on...

ham I also have 3 hospital bags! Had 3 when I went in to have DS too. Felt a bit like I was going on holiday and had an interesting time shoving them all in the locker unit beside the bed.

If you're worried about needing another pair of PJ bottoms you could either bring them with you at the beginning, or get DH to bring them (and anything else you think of) when he visits you after baby is born. Maybe keep the 2nd pair and the other goodies you need in a 4th bag at home for him to grab.

I use Disposable change mats when changing DS out and about, and I'm thinking of sticking some in my bag to bring too for any leaks.

One more thing I will say is: When I researched what to bring before I had DS I had read about people bringing food to eat in labour. However, my hospital have a policy of not letting women eat during labour. Nooo!!!! Think it's cuz they're scared about them needing a section and having a full stomach or something. All I know is I was starving after 15 hours in hospital by the time DS was born. Not sure if that was a 'quirk' of my particular hospital, or if it's a Northern Ireland thing or what.

Right, I have rambled enough and DS is trying to unplug the laptop, so I shall away!

(29 weeks tomorrow!)

panpipe · 07/06/2012 08:52

ham and 3bears glad to hear about your alien babies! I think mine is trying to fight its way out of my front most of the time. Luckily I think it's starting to move whichever bit was wedged under my ribs so I can move a bit more now.

What a lovely comment from your DH too ham; last thing I got from mine was that I'm being a pain in the ars*e Hmm

You've all scared me into action with your organised hospital bag-ness so I'll be off on a mission this weekend!

ishopthereforeiam · 07/06/2012 10:14

Thanks poppy for some reason I handout considered the loch etc with a c/s. Def stocking up on maternity pads, useful advice on the scar too.

ham what a lovely dh!

needles I can understand feeling overwhelmed, dd is in nursery four days a week at the mo but if we move I'll have a 19mo and new baby to manage at home Hmm. We do have family on hand to help but I'm such a pain (!) I sometimes find their help less than helpful....

MrsMigginslovespies · 07/06/2012 11:56

Morning all,

Your hospital bag organising is scaring me! I've got a list of things I want to pack, but haven't actually done it yet. I do hawever have all my tiny Calrins things planned Grin for the sponge bag...! I am going to look at nightie options at Mum's tonight actually and possibly get a couple of other PJ things too if needed. Hadn't thought of Primark, so top tip, thank you.

It's DDog's first birthday today and I've spoilt her by buying a new red tea roses Cath Kidston collar, a new squeaky hamburger and an odd chew bone thing that tastes of bacon (at hideous expense of £8 but it is solid). DH thinks I'm mad, but I love my dog Smile.

Have first Lazy Daisy class tonight and am quite excited about it, esp after the fiasco that is my NHS class organisation. Staying over at parents', so might also have a rummage in some of my old things in case there's a hidden gem!!

Hope you all have a nice day and are feeling well. Does anyone else experience an odd "rolling/wave"type feeling from time to time? V bizarre! x

MrsMigginslovespies · 07/06/2012 13:06

BTW, has anyone tried the MamaMio tummy oil? I've been religiously using BioOil for ages (no stretch marks yet, touch wood), but fancied a treat for the last weeks.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 07/06/2012 15:20

Flip me. I hadn't even thought about hospital bags. What's meant to go in them?!

Lovemarmite · 07/06/2012 16:23

MrsMiggins I've been using the neals yard mother's balm and so far no stretch marks and it's making my skin feel comfortable and smooth.
You're not mad, your Ddog sounds lovely - Happy Birthday to Ddog! Biscuit

Thanks for all the suggestions about what to wear birthing and hospital stays, thinking mothercare 2x pack of cotton nighties might be a good idea and their pair of maternity yoga pants ... but if primark is cheap, then may check it out. I've already bought a bamboo birthing shirt which wasn't the cheapest but can be worn whilst pregnant and also afterwards and it's dark blue and so a good colour that will wash out well, I hope!
I bought a pack of maternity pads and wow, they are huge. I read somewhere that the ones that are backed with a covering of plastic or something are better, but I've chosen natracare ones and see they're not backed. Would love to know what you've gone for and what's worked.

frilly I've thought of some stuff...
For the hospital bag, so far I've thought of... a bag for me includes lip balm, a change of clothes for going home in, maternity pads, nipple pads, disposable knickers, more knickers, hairbrush, a book, tissues, some flight socks, nighties x2, a light bathrobe, jogging bottoms/yoga pants or pjs, a couple of t-shirts, a camera, oh dear this list is endless!
for baby: two hats, 2-3 nb baby vests - thinking kimono style because of the umbilical cord healing (?), baby wipes, nappies, muslin cloths, hmm?! oh yes, DH with car seat!!!
I think I found a page in mothercare catalogue that details a list and also something on babycentre website too.

Yes, yes, yes, baby movements are really different now - I got some real prods with feet last night and then a jab with fingers that seemed oddly to have reached my legs when I was sitting - how bizarre as I'm sure that was not really felt!

hamncheese · 07/06/2012 16:28

Glad I'm not the only one with three bags needles and good idea about a forth to come later, could put the going home clothes in that one for DH to bring and stop the zip bursting on my originals!! About not eating in labour quite a few people have put that in threads I've read... and I remember on OBEM them trying to not make a woman eat (in that case I think cause she was a bit crazy and gorging on snickers after having vomitted her way through the last few hours ew) but a lot of people put down to bring in still lucozade or similar so even if you can't eat, you can get energy from that. I've also packed some glucose tablets and really high energy bars with a ridiculous amount of calories in I found in the body building bit of boots so I can sneak that in if really hungry!

Happy birthday migginsdog !! Have you got a picture of her on her birthday you could post??! :) Also the rolling wave thing seems to describe my one's movements at the moment the cute wee kicks, fluttering and wind like feelings are long gone, everything now feels like writhing and trying to break free... >dances with hoover singing queen in homage<

frilly I posted a hospital bag list I collaborated from threads and online lists on the fourth thread ... can't tell you at what point though! I can post it on the fb page for you if you want??

Lovemarmite · 07/06/2012 17:15

Ham yes please to posting it on fb page too! I remember reading your post, was very helpful and wanted to go and find it...

Yes, the rolling wave movements are here too. I think she is sometimes going from head down, head across to head up and doing a bit of a gym dance in there, meanwhile I get to go crossed eyed as the feelings are so intense and yes, I know what you mean, she seems to be trying to break free!

McBaby · 07/06/2012 17:44

mrsmiggins loving the mama mio range. I was luckily bought a set for my birthday a few months ago. They all smell amazing but think I slightly

McBaby · 07/06/2012 17:47

mrsmiggins loving the mama mio range. I was luckily bought a set for my birthday a few months ago. They all smell amazing but think I slightly prefer the Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter as its easier to put on (but that might be because I'm a bit clumsy and manage to cover everything in the oil which is very nice too) both are leaving my skin very soft and the midwife reccntly commented on how soft the skin on my bump is .... So it must be doing somthing !?!Y

0FrillyKnickers0 · 07/06/2012 18:39

Thanks Ham, that would be ace! And yes to the rolling wave movements, isn't it the weirdest thing! I actually saw the baby roll from one side of my belly to the other yesterday! So bizarre! Ooh I do love feeling baby move :-) She had mega hiccups the other day...so cute!

Vinolover · 07/06/2012 19:15

Baby Vino is having a roll around at the moment! it certainly freaks my DH out when he does it lol.

Does anybody have any thrush experience? I am so sodding sore :( I'm not sure if it's a new shower gel I've been using as it seems to have started since I first started using it or if it's thrush. I feel really itchy and keep getting a burning sensation. I have a dr's appointment on tuesday for my heart and lungs check so will chat to him then, I just hope it doesn't get any worse!

One more week until I start drinking RLT :) Such exciting times!

0FrillyKnickers0 · 07/06/2012 19:18

Vino that's rough. I've managed to avoid it so far. What will you be drinking?? Oh, I'm glad I'm not the only one with a bit of VV down there x

Vinolover · 07/06/2012 19:21

Raspberry leaf tea :) I drank it both times before and my second stages were 25 mins and 6 mins so im really hoping for a quick one again :)

signet2012 · 07/06/2012 20:14

Marking my place again - these threads go so quickly.

29 weeks now.... spend my days working (4 weeks left whoop!!) Not sure if I will make it because SPD is really bad and sitting in an office chair all day is so painful!

As a first timer I can honestly say I swing from being really excited to absolutely sh*tting myself! I have no idea what to do with a baby! The room is not done, I do not have half of what I am sure I need and nothing for my hospital bag!

Baby isnt really a mover, some days she is active but others nothing.... can be quite worrying! Also all the kicks feel like they are in my groin and alwyas have done I feel nothing higher up and certainly cant feel them through my skin and can not see any bums or feets yet my friends who are pg can... anyone else having this?

Other than back and hips (which is linked to me having hypermobility) I have had a healthy and easy pregnancy up to now. See consultant again tomorrow so may find out if they are going to advise for a ELCS or a VB.

Not sure which I would prefer to be honest - change my mind on that every day too!

Congrats poppy and hope everyone else is doing well!

Loislane78 · 07/06/2012 20:25

Evening all :)

Well, the greedy guts in me is shocked about the not eating the labour!! I understand the rationale and probably won't even feel like eating but my day generally progresses nicely from one snack to the other :). I'll have to get those energy bar things ham to see me through. Me in labour AND no food = not good!

Rolling waves here too, almost churning sensation some days which makes me jump. overall like the kicks and makes me think all is well in there. I was thinking the other day how active the baby is but apparently they can kick etc. in their sleep which makes more sense.

Officially lost my centre of gravity now and keep completely misjudging my girth so the overall effect is v weeble like, he he, glad I'm entertaining people at work anyway :)

Hope everyone well, Friday tomorrow - YAY!!!

susiegrapevine · 07/06/2012 20:48

Hey vino I posted about itchyness on last thread part 4 I think. I had it and it was thrush! Very annoying, your doc will give you a pessery and some cream. You put the pessary up your fanjo and use the cream on the itchy outside bit. Only takes about 3 days and it all clears up!

Another stressful day doing dad's business have done it before but this time its really stressing me out! Plus I feel like I am ignoring ds! Got really annoyed cos his study is such a tip and ran out of paper for the printer! Arrrg! Sorry am moaning. I'm sure I was gonna say something else but I have forgotton! Doh baby brain!

Loislane78 · 07/06/2012 20:50

Oh, just seen Call the Midwife is on BBC at 9. It's no OBEM but quite like it, luckily for us pain relief seems to have moved on a bit :)

panpipe · 07/06/2012 20:55

Wow vino 25 mins and 6 mins?

ishopthereforeiam · 07/06/2012 21:07

Evening all,

raspberry leaf tea capsules available from holland & barrett if you can't find the tea. Started taking them a month before labour, waters broke a week before due date but didn't seem to speed up labour itself.

hospital bag haven't done mine yet but must remember hairbands to be able to do a ponytail!

eating in labour highly recommend taking snacks with you and have tbem even if you dont feel lime it, I took some but didn't eat when I had contractions etc (midmight) and should've done as by 9am wasn't allowed to due to epidural etc.

Susie sounds like you're super busy helping the family out! Hope you get a break soon.

Hi Everyone!

I read these posts every night but hardly ever post myself... So here's the latest Smile had an appointment with MW today, all is fine but have protein in my wee.. She thinks it might be the start of a UTI, all fingers crossed that's not the case - remember those from many years ago and they're horrid! Baby's head is down and he's wriggling away in there Smile can't believe I'm 32 weeks tomorrow! Ds1 was born 3 weeks early 7lb 6 oz so technically could have 5 weeks to go!! Argh!

I've got one pack of nappies and ds1's old baby clothes and that's it! Planning on co sleeping, breast feeding and have sling and car seat from last time... Haven't even begun to think about hospital bag or birth plan... And still four more weeks of work sigh

At least I've got you lot to keep me motivated Grin

Vinolover · 07/06/2012 21:13

Thank you susie. I can't wait for some relief!

I had quite fast intense labours both times and really couldn't have eaten a thing but my god I was starving after the delivery and both times had toast and jam with a cup of tea - the best meal ever lol. My DH on the other hand attacked the vending machines both times as he was Peckish so will definitely be taking lots of snacks this time!
