Ooo Missminipop hope the scan goes really well! and your cs discomfort eases v soon.
My mw advised us that at first it can be very stressful trying to express milk due to a let-go mechanism in the breasts. If the baby is there, your brain says flow but a pump is a different matter apparently, and so don't get disheartened as low milk flow at first is very usual.
Hope you can get your moving sorted asap and the rentals are interesting x

NeedlesCuties · 06/06/2012 13:55

Hi everyone,

Poppy I saw the thread you were on in the Breast and Bottle feeding section, lots of good advice there, you're doing a super job! Hope all goes well with his scan.

I am a bit agog at all these interfering MILs Shock mine is sort of in the other camp of MILs one reads about on MN - the sort that just aren't interested. She's getting better now that DS is 2 years old, but in the early days we'd go months without seeing her, with her ringing once a month and when I was in her presence and bfing I'd get sent to another room Hmm Now he's older, playing and talking she's much better, but FIL is still the sort that 'visits' and sits watching Sky sports. Meh.

Feeling sad for you all who are feeling sick/ being sick :(

Not much else to report here, apart from I echo what LoveMarmite says about finding it harder to move around. I'm starting to find it sore under my breastbone when I sit upright for any length of time and when driving also. Can't believe I have another 11 weeks of this, can't remember feeling this dodgy and achy when pregnant with DS till the very very end. Argh!

(28+6)

ishopthereforeiam · 06/06/2012 14:38

Like love it takes me an age to walk anyway and lots of huffing and puffing just to try And stand up... If I'm sat on the floor I reallllly struggle to stand. Have found it easier to just roll off the sofa from lying down to all fours on the carpet!

panpipe good luck with the walls!

poppy as we're all up in the air at the mo we actually have a two bed for rent in bayswater available immediately (unfurnished) and may have a two bed in limehouse depending on when you're looking to move. The whole house thing is crazy... Had surveys done last week so hopef mortgage gets approved asap. Has anyone come across chancel repairs? we seem to be in an area for that so more ££££ to spend!

In other news under my breasts / top of ribs hurtle a fair bit too so given up bras and wearing padded vest toppy things Hmm

Afternoon all,

Am sure you're doing a wonderful job Poppy and glad to hear minipop is doing well.

Finished the bookshelves today. Four coats it took, but they look nice now. Just need the rest of the nursery to be painted. MIL is coming down on 26th to help me sew in blackout linings to curtains so sort of on track.

Had my MW appointment today and am tiny bit worried that baby is currently on the small side (measuring 27cm and I'm 30 weeks today). They're going to keep an eye on things, but feel bit stressed now that I'm somehow starving the baby or something. Everything else is fine which is good. I was moaning yesterday about the lack of communication here on antenatal classes etc. She said today "oh, we've been a bit late sending out the letters, but the classes start on Monday"!!! Agh!! DH may not now be able to get the time off at such short notice, as it's exam week, so am stressed about that too. On a good note, I've booked in for some Lazy Daisy classes near my parents' , so will be spending the night there when I go. Meh, feeling fed up, stressed about baby and it's cold and wet here.

Anyhoo, off to take my grumpy self out for a damp walk. It's DDog's first birthday tomorrow and I'm sadly excited about it all. She has a new Cath Kidston collar, and two new toys, plus a special supper Smile. DH thinks I'm mad!!! xx

sc0ttishlass · 06/06/2012 15:06

Hi all - hope the scan goes well poppy - continue to send you lots of love :)

i too am walking like a geriatric penguin.. especially when i get up in the morning - i honestly look like a pensioner trying to stand up - aches and pains etc! and also if i am lying on couch - have to either a) get a help up, or b) swing myself back and forward till i get up. also - i get breathless when climbing stairs or if at work having a really animated discussion with anyone... i had the midwife this morning and she said all of the above is normal and not to worry (also said the clown feet that I am still sporting are ok).
I was never sportswoman of the year, but always did some running.. and thats what i am missing most during this pregnancy -just the feeling of being unfit! cant wait to get it back. (if i do!)

she took my bloods today for iron levels and said they shoudl normally be done at 28 weeks (I am 29+3) just for anyone that hasnt had them done yet.

one question! what is everyone wearing as PJ's? i bought some cheapo bottoms from primark couple of months ago but they are now digging in to bump - i think i am going to have to bite the bullet adn buy some ngihtdresses.. also - for those who have had little ones, do you wear a nightdress when giving birth! sorry for the stupid questions :)

xx

ImissMiniPop · 06/06/2012 17:15

thanks ishop i've DM'd you :)

Scottishlass I found that PJs with cropped legs were the best, so they didn't drag on the floor of the bathroom (which was quite often wet). As I had a c section a nightdress was best as it didn't obstruct the catheter and it was easier to go to the bathroom post-op as i couldn't bend to get the PJ bottoms back up.

Also - top tip to get up off from lying on sofa or bed - turn on your side and bring knees/legs together, push your self up with your arm and then slowly bring your legs round and dangle them off the bed, then push yourself up to a sitting positions - et voila :o

susiegrapevine · 06/06/2012 17:38

poppy hope all goes well with the scan! A tip when expressing is to look at your baby while doing it as this encourages the let down if you can't look at him theb try to picture him or just think of him and this should help.

ishop am very jelous of your braless ways no fair with huge 38ff boobs there is no way I can't wear a bra in the day! Although I keep taking mine off on the sofa in the evening!
scottishlass yes I'm afriad towards the end you have to wear night dress's but it is the most comfy! I always wore pants under mine tho as felt a bit bare otherwise lol! Yes you can wear a nightie in labour but I just wore my t-shirt as my labour progressed so quickly I did not have time to change tho it was very comfy maternity one.

Had a very tiring day to day running my dad's business had to pack 15 parcels and then post 56 of them that dh had kindly packed the day before! So took a pushchair, a small child (in pushchair) and six massive bags full of parcels to the post office today! Parked the car as near as poss! And struggled in! A pregnant lady with a toddler and six full bags and not one bugger offered to help me!! Forgot to eat lunch as well and ds only had crisps, rice cakes and biscuits! Feel like a terrible mother! Still gave him strawberries when we got home! Now we are having take out for dinner as am knackered!!

NeedlesCuties · 06/06/2012 17:48

scottish in labour I wore my tankini top as I was in the birthing pool. Rest of the time when I was walking round the floor and on the bed I wore a nightie. And once DS was born I wore PJs with a top that had buttons or another which allowed me to easily pull it down to bf him.

Hope that helps :)

0FrillyKnickers0 · 06/06/2012 17:52

Ishop, my boobs have been sore too. Bought my first non underwire bra from Mothercare yesterday and it is the most comfortable thing in the world Smile

Pop, so good to hear about minipop etc. I hope the scan goes really well. I was thinking about you today Smile I also hope you get the housing situation sorted fast, that must be really stressful.

Well, DH has pretty much painted the nursery, just got tidying bits to do, coving and getting a carpet put down.

Whilst he was doing that, I cleaned the house from top to toe! I ache so badly now!! Can't wait to get back there, we are still house sitting for my mum and dad until Friday...

Oh, we also finalised our pram thingy yesterday. It's been a jolly productive week so far!

panpipe · 06/06/2012 18:05

ishop the pain under your boobs might be due to a certain muscle in your back. I've been getting it too and this exercise helps: sit cross legged on the floor then bring your left hand to your right knee, look behind you with your right arm behind you. Hold for 5 then repeat on the other side. Helps for me some of the time!

Glad minipop is getting bigger and stronger, good luck for the scan and hope bfing gets easier x

The3Bears · 06/06/2012 18:22

Tried to have a nap today but was woke up by the old lady next door asking if it was her wheeliebin on our front Angry it was, arghhhh was so annoyed couldnt get back to sleep so went to park with ds, fed the ducks and had a play for 10 mins and it started to rain so we rushed home :)
ham Hope you've had a lovely day how sweet of your dad, will put some pics up soon atm the cot is used for storage of all baby things, keep wandering over and refolding baby gros and looking at the cute teddys Blush v sad I know.
marmite Im definitely finding it harder to get about so your not alone on that one.
poppy so glad minipop is doing well thats great news, really hope the scan goes well. Dont beat yourself up over expressing milk either I could never express more than a third of a bottle and it made me so upset that some people could express a full bottle in minutes, I spent a fortune on 3 different breast pumps to see if that would help but I just couldnt :( It's very odd as I found breastfeeding v easy. Hope you manage to sort your housing situation aswell.

I've been thinking about pj's nightdresses for hospital too, last time I ended up giving birth in a topshop stretchy maternity dress (kept it to remind me Blush ) good idea about having 3/4 length bottoms for hospital, another thing I would say is get dark bottoms sorry if tmi but I bled alot! and when your stuck in a maternity ward bed unable to move it may leak through, definitely take a lightweight robe aswell. I might get a nightdress for labour and take dark 3/4 bottoms, vest top, thin robe and flip flops for ward.

Is anyone finding the movements very, very strong atm everytime baby moves it feels as if he's going to pop out of my tummy Grin very active aswell atm which is nice as at least I know all is well.

Also feeling v emotional all the time now and keep crying at the silliest things, anyone else?

Westcountrylovescheese · 06/06/2012 19:00

3Bears, I properly cried watching neighbours yesterday... That is not normal.

0FrillyKnickers0 · 06/06/2012 19:24

3bears I am the same with emotions and baby's movements!!

Vinolover · 06/06/2012 19:27

I agree with 3 bears about dark bottoms! You really do bleed so heavily after giving birth and will more than likely leak :( It really is so glamourous lol.

Frilly, you really are not the only one with a VV down there! I noticed it at about 20 weeks whilst tidying up my bikini line and I was horrified :( It will go though after the baby has been born and it's not like I can see it Grin. It is quite sore sometimes though. Great news about your nursery!

I really hope the scan has gone well Poppy.

I gave birth to my son in a rather large night dress from primark and with my daughter I was completely naked in the birthing pool. I have pj's for after the delivery but will get a couple of night dresses again from primark for the labour and big knickers so I can fit a couple of sanitary towels in there at a time afterwards.

sc0ttishlass · 06/06/2012 20:15

evening all - thanks for the feedback on pjs! so sounds like I need to get some 3/4 length, couple of dark nightdresses and a dark lightweight dressing gown - and that should be me sorted! one other question - after the birth where you pretty much the same size you were when you went in - ie i have read stories about people taking in their pre pregnancy jeans to wear on the way home - and that just isnt happening :) i am thinking being realistic i still need my 'larger' size pjs for after and larger clothes for way home too :)

well done frilly on your housework! i fell asleep for 2 hours after work today and although had some work i needed to do tonight, will be in bed after lewis! west - too funny that you cried at neighbours ( i LOVE neighbours, still, after all these years!).. know what you mean - the slightest thing brings tears to my eyes...

hope all the nursery prep is going well.. we were given an old rocking chair - DH has sanded it and varnished it, and we have had cushions re done in same material as new curtains.. plan to sort the room all together this weekend which i think will make me feel better on the 'disorganised' front.. i seem to be panicking at absolutely everything!

poppy - sounds like a great tip on how to get off the couch/out of bed!!!

nearlyl the weekend everyone :) xx

Whiteangel · 06/06/2012 20:44

Hi all, busy here too. My dad turned the back of our garage into a utility room over the bank holiday. Plasterer coming tomorrow and hiring a van to pick up kitchen from ikea. Skip for the big pile of rubbish coming too. Friday will be electrician, double glazers, carpets and electrician. Oh and bought a car today! All well with the midwife but need to go back to the physio due to pain in my hip and groin. I've tried to slow down and spend plenty of time with my feet up but still 6 weeks to go at work. Nursery will be all finished once carpet is down so can get things sorted properly then. Still no kitchen but should be done by the end of June! Can't wait for baby to arrive and house to be finished so we can relax and enjoy being a family! Hope you're all feeling better and enjoying the lovely evening after a rather grey day! Xx

ishopthereforeiam · 06/06/2012 21:24

Scottish I made the mistake of taking my old pjs into hospital for post birth... I did not immediately retract to a size 8-10! Took a good 6-8 weeks for my uterus to contract properly but for at least a few weeks I still looked pregnant and wore mat clothes / track suit bottoms etc. In labour I had an oversized t shirt but had to wear nhs standard issue robe. Also had some lovely flight sock type things (so no point having painted toe nails the day bef ore!).

A dressing gown is a hoital essential, don't wear one at home so got a cheap one from primark.

Impressed frilly has cleaned tbe house! I get reflux just bending over Sad

Thx for the tips on couch manoeuvring poppy and back exercise panpipe

Evening ladies,

Thanks for advice on PJs/nighties, very helpful as always :) Sorry to hear those of you who've started with sickness again, worst luck, hope it goes soon and it's just temporary.

Well aren't we all busy bees moving, painting, tidying, researching and buying! Guess there's nothing like a deadline to spur you into action.

You do realize we're super mums already - not only are we working, DIYing, organising, some looking after other DCs etc. we're growing a whole new person whilst managing various ailments and just getting on with it. Doesn't always feel like it but we're amazing :).

(thought I should offer something positive after my rant yesterday!)

tashaw28 · 06/06/2012 21:36

Primark is the best for birthing/hospital clothes, top tip is take socks to give birth in and slippers for the ward after, I then chucked the socks out after birth, (apparently MRSA lives on the floor?) oh and take a dark towel into hosp for your first shower after, not a nice white one!!!!
Half term fun here and the rain is ruining my go play in the garden whilst mummy rests on the couch plans!
Oh well, physio tomorrow for my dodgy shoulder, and then having my nails done!
Oh also someone lent me a wrap sling, perfect!

panpipe · 06/06/2012 21:55

Lois that was lovely Smile

ffscatmove · 06/06/2012 22:00

Loving the positivity Lois - am feeling particularly tired today so definitely need it!
Enjoying all the stories of DH/DP procrastinating - DH was determined to have the nursery done before 12 week scan - didn't quite manage it but it was certainly finished by the 20 week one even though hated it at the time cos the smell of paint made me want to puke & I was scared we were jinxing things
Have a nice day planned tomorrow, pop into town to buy some PJs/nighties as per suggestions, hair cut then chiropractor!
All the best for the scan Poppy & hope the expressing gets easier.

Night all!

The3Bears · 06/06/2012 22:08

I know vino definitely stocking up on maternity pads this time around really wasnt expecting so much blood Blush it really is all glamour :)

Yes scottish take looser clothing I took my old jeans (big fail) and had to leave the top button undone, this time im going to stick to much looser clothing to come home in as you still look like your about 25 weeks pregnant imo. Your rocking chair sounds lovely, really wish I could fit some sort of nursing/comfy chair near babys cot but dp doesnt think there is enough room :(

Wow whiteangel you sound v busy atm it will be lovely with your house all done when baby arrives home :)

ishop I too keep getting reflux when bending over it's just horrible.

It's amazing isnt it lois to think were growing babies while doing all this and the babies are nearly ready to arrive now, not long Grin

tasha I agree dark towels are a must, hope your physio goes well tomorrow and getting nails done sounds lovely, nice to have a bit of a pamper :) great news on the sling aswell.

ImissMiniPop · 06/06/2012 22:43

Oh yes, dark coloured PJ bottoms and towels essential Blush And don't scrimp on maternity pads either, essential! ick...

Primark are really missing a trick, they need to open stores directly opposite hospitals. It would have been so much easier if there'd have been a Primark opposite. Luckily there was a Boots and a Tesco opposite the hospital I was in :)

ishopthereforeiam · 06/06/2012 23:41

Hey poppy quick question, sorry if silly! Do you still need maternity pads if a c/s I.e does all the blood, mucus etc keep coming out down there post birth? Really daft but hadn't occurred to me this time around!
