Evening all

Warlin the MN article on breastfeeding might be a good place to start. www.mumsnet.com/babies/breastfeeding I have a friend who decided she was not going to BF at all and just said no way at the hospital. Some Mums can?t do it either, and shouldn?t be made to feel a failure. Got a good tip in the NCT BF class though ? the sucking mechanism that babies have is different for a bottle to a nipple. So if you mix the two up at first you can get veeerrrry sore nips? The hospital should support you though, not bully you. Just read TDW?s advice and it seems very sound.

TDW you?re reminding me how lovely swimming is while preggers. I haven?t been for a while. Sooo disappointed ? I have a lovely mat swimming cossie and was waiting for local outdoor pool to open, but now it has, the weather is too cold for it. Don?t know how you do it with DH away so long.

Surf you poor thing. Does this help? There is a dog version too if you?re not into cats. Sorry you missed your reflexology. Have you told them why? They might be nice and reschedule. What was the outcome of your appt at hosi?

Cath hope your aches ease and DH sorts out your furniture for you.

Gwennie OMG I had the same last night ?woke up puking. Bleugh. Massive sympathies!! Is revolting, isn?t it??!! Sorry about all your other niggles too. Hope you take some time to rest up over the weekend.

My scan today was a bit weird. Firstly, no one seems to know why I?ve been having extra scans! Still, though all looks good with baby, amniotic fluid low, so have to see consultant Tuesday. In meantime, did a little googling, so going to make sure am drinking plenty and keeping an eye on movements.

Kveta · 04/05/2012 20:16

mckayz hope you're ok tonight, will be thinking of you tomorrow.

1 month tomorrow until my baby is due, eek!!

bemybebe · 04/05/2012 21:04

Smallwonder · 04/05/2012 21:05

Haven't energy to post comments, hv been looking at washing machine for ages, cannot get into gear to unload it and must. My dc have exhausted me. Just wanted to say warlin sorry for not mentioning u earlier, knew there was someone and secondly I was eating ice like a maniac until I had my iron infusions. Look up something called pica. I was dizzy and tired but had half. Tank of blood to live on... Even a little anaemia can cause the symptoms. Just a thought when u mentioned ice n dizziness
Night guys. Fel so whacked don't even want to pack the bags to go away.
Feet up movie n some tunes..... Zzzzzz

Smallwonder · 04/05/2012 21:06

Kveta u n I are on same countdown almost btw :)

TeaandHobnobs · 04/05/2012 21:19

Warlin I realise my experience has been different, not having to try and satisfy baby through the first couple of days/nights as I wasn't with him, but from my experience over the past week, I would just say if you do want to give BFing a go, do give it your best shot straight away, as the longer you wait the harder it can be (DairyNips please correct me if that is wrong/unhelpful?). And don't be afraid to ask for help - all the MWs and nurses I have come into contact with have been bending over backwards to help me. I am still learning (BabyTea is having a much better go than I am!), but particularly today when I mentioned I had symptoms of thrush, everyone has gone out of their way to make sure I got some treatment ASAP, and not have to leave it until after the BH weekend.

surf you poor thing, I hope things are looking up?

News from TeaLand - BabyTea could be coming home next weekend!!!!! Shock Shock Shock Shock
His heated mattress was switched off this morning, as he is maintaining his temperature now, and the doctor was really pleased with him and he just needs to gain weight. Amazing!!!! Grin but that means I have a week to buy all the stuff haven't bought yet, and to get him feeding

Comfy vibes going out to anyone in discomfort this evening xx

bemybebe · 04/05/2012 21:22

Today the lawyers gave me a good wrap up of what is happening in the flat that got flooded. Uninhabitable, most of the furniture is ruined as there was 15 cm of water standing across the flat for 2 days (thanks to fantastic balcony and front doors), oak parquet - ruined, antique heirlooms - ruined, my old 10-20 yo plants, walls with pictures (and the pictures), some bought on my travels when I was travelling around the UK and Europe in the early 90s - all down the same path. And you know what - I don't fucking care. Nobody got hurt, thank god, lawyers will document everything and will set the process in motion of sorting out various insurance companies. Our cover is not enough though, hopefully the neighbours have additional cover.

ffnorm not SA, I am from Moscow originally. Smile Bloody wild east.
small my bump hurts so much from tugging and pulling from the inside and nothing can be done Grin...
...oops... sounds like our takeaway has just arrived. Romantic anniversary chinese... will have to respond to others a bit later!

bemybebe · 04/05/2012 21:23

Go babyTea!! What an amazing fella!

McKayz · 04/05/2012 21:26

Kveta thanks. Not too bad at the minute. DH is just checking he's got everything packed and printed off everything he needs for the flights.

His taxi is booked for 0345 to get him to the airport in time. Zzzzz

Hope you're all well.

surfmama · 04/05/2012 21:33

hello everyone i am still here it has been a farce to be honest... Monitor didn't print so had to do it again and have seen about 6 people who have asked me the same thing! all they are going to do is a scan on tuesday to see if i am leaking fluid.... better hope not as that's a long way off... Hay ho.. fire i haven't caught up on all your thread but we in the fluid game together. bemy thats shit. tea go babby tea.

bloody starving. cereal for supper i reckon. lots of cute babies here though!

blondiedollface · 04/05/2012 21:35

Tea So glad to hear that BabyTea is doing so well! So nice to hear that the MW's are being supportive with your BF :) SO exciting for you that he'll be coming home so soon!

McKayz Sorry if I've missed anything important, but hope you are well.

McKayz · 04/05/2012 21:49

Blondie DH goes away tomorrow morning to work for 8 weeks.Sad

ffnorm · 04/05/2012 21:51

Bemy you must think I'm a complete nutter, sorry!! (your name on the fb pg sounds very South African Smile) but I do know how it is to sort things out between countries - sucks. Surely the burden of cost should lie with the neighbour who flooded you???

Tea isn't that amazing news!!!

McK hope you have a lovely evening with DH!!

Gwennie that's helpful advice Grin my baseline state at the mo is generalised malaise...

Surf hope everything is ok - thinking of you Thanks

MW app was ok,saw a diff MW as I was hoping, much better!! She thinks lo is breech. I see the consultant and have a scan in 10 days time,so we will see for sure then.

Found the perfect dress for the wedding I'm going to on the 2nd June and it was a painless experience - went to Oxford St,went into Debenhams, there it was, on sale, went around the corner to the shoe dept, found a pair of shoes and went home Grin Grin wish non pregnant shopping was so easy!!

Kveta · 04/05/2012 21:52

Yay for baby tea!

Bemy that's so crap about your flat, but good you have a positive attitude about it.

Surf, hope all is well over the weekend.

Warlin, will post more on bfing another time, but I do think tea is right. Better to give it a good go initially, then you won't regret anything. And make sure you know where to got support from. Friends whose partners or parents did not support them with bfing found it much harder than those whose families were behind them.

crackersncheese · 04/05/2012 22:12

wow clever little baby tea

Mckayz thinking of you this evening

surf that's a rubbish way to start the bank holiday weekend. Hope they get you checked out before Tuesday.

Wrote a massive post and lost it, never mind will try again tomorrow. sleep well everyone

CathFin · 04/05/2012 22:12

Kveta - you are so right, my MIL's opinion was that I wouldn't be able to bf my DS as I had my DD who was about 19 months at home with me too. She was wrong Wink not helpful when you are already stressed about how you will cope though!

blondiedollface · 04/05/2012 22:18

McKayz Sorry, I do remember you saying now. I suggest you get your arse off MN and enjoy your evening with your DH, and get him to promise your bump lots of lovely cuddles once he's back (and you of course) Grin

Ffnorm My pregnant shopping trips have been a lot like that too! In, find, pay, out. Simples!

Surf and FF Drink up ladies, hope your fluid levels go up :)

DairyNips · 04/05/2012 22:38

tea so glad baby tea is doing so well!Smile

Re what you were saying to Warlin about bfing, yes, it is beneficial to try asap after baby is born. The best thing is lots of skin to skin. I think the best thing is to just keep cuddling baby and offering. Warlin -Don't put pressure on yourself or worry about people forcing you to try. I haven't had that myself although understand it doesn't happen. It's up to you at the end of the daySmile We put so much pressure on ourselves to get it all right, I know I did, especially first time round. If you want to bf then demand the right support from the right people. Other peoples opinions don't matter, all that matters is your little familySmile

ceeej · 04/05/2012 23:50

wooooooooh for babytea he is quite the little trooper

Thinking of you McKayz, hope the time flies for you

Great job finding a dress ffnorm, enjoy the wedding

surf sounds like you had a crappy day, hope they get their act together soon and do something constructive

Can't remember who it was that is off to Wales, have a lovely time. Hope everyone has a nice relaxing bank holiday weekend planned.

McKayz · 05/05/2012 03:52

DH's taxi has just gone. Both the boys have woken up so now they're in my bed. Sad

TeaandHobnobs · 05/05/2012 05:00

Big hug McKayz

McKayz · 05/05/2012 05:10

Thanks Tea typically they're sound asleep now while I hang on to the edge of the bed!!

It's great that BabyTea should be home soon!

Kveta · 05/05/2012 06:49

hope you get some rest McKayz

DairyNips · 05/05/2012 08:53

How are you this morning McKayz?

McKayz · 05/05/2012 09:31

Not too bad thanks. I am shattered though, how can a 5 and 3 year old take up so much room?

We've been sat watching his flight on some website which has kept the boys amused.
