10000fireflies · 03/05/2012 17:41

Hello everyone I give up keeping up with you all!! Grin

Glad you're ok special. Have you and others with breech babies heard of Spinning Babies? I've just had a look at it and although the website is not brilliantly designed, there seems to be some good advice there.

The scooter sounds great fan. Hope DD's arrival doesn't clash with his birthday!!

Sorry to hear about your flat Bemy. Not good to have the stress.

Had NHS ante-natal class. V frank MW ran class. Glad she isn't present at births anymore!! Have been overcome with exhaustion again which is v frustrating. Fell asleep on sofa for couple of hours this avo. Cat loves it though!!

Better go and sort some dinner. FF xx

ffnorm · 03/05/2012 17:48

Bemy are you from SA? (Ignore me if you don't want to answer) just to say if you are,I feel your pain,as I recently had to do a whole lot of very important stuff via correspondence/my mother and it is a serious pain esp as they want certified documents etc. Hope it gets sorted - such a worry!! not what you need any time but esp not now!

A friend (through a friend) had twins yesterday at St Thomas',so pleased for her as because she is 43 they didn't think she would carry to 38 weeks but she did and her 2 girls are 5lb13 and 6lb2 Smile

Got 34 week MW app tomorrow hope I don't see the last one as last time

blondiedollface · 03/05/2012 18:03

All well here, had my feet up all day and been taking it very easy :)

Found this, and sorry to anyone who knows all this/has been there done it I found it SO useful and will be keeping all this info very close to hand!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1464311-Things-I-wish-people-had-told-me-when-I-was-pregnant

Hope it helps any other first timers who are still feeling very much in the dark with regards to what to expect!

gwenniebee · 03/05/2012 18:45

That, blondie, looks amazing! Says lots of things that make perfect sense but I wouldn't have thought of. I may print it off and keep it with my notes! Thanks :)

bemy what a stress! Hope you manage to sort it out - just what you don't need right now. And to think I was stressed about a minor leak coming through my kitchen....

MummyBee is here cleaning and cooking for me, bless her :) She and DH have just put a large cupboard from our old flat in the boot of her car so that she can take it and put it "in storage" (ie my childhood bedroom). It just doesn't fit in our house any more, not with desk having to move downstairs so baby has somewhere to sleep!

Sent one of the kids in my class home today with (I am 90% certain) chicken pox. I've had it but know it's supposed to be A Bad Thing in pregnancy... Confused. Possibly more worrying is that another child in my class apparently has cryptosporidium.... basically food poisoning, but which apparently is very infectious and is reportable! Given he was in school with me yesterday I find this mildly concerning! As it happens am seeing my mw tomorrow so I will run these past her....

Bump is very sore tonight :( Naughty bump. Finding it hard to get comfortable anywhere at all and feeling rather grumpy. Also didn't realise I had to take repeat prescription to the pharmacy a few days before I actually wanted the medicine, so I was gazumped with my gaviscon request and had to buy it again... grrrr..... the thought of waiting til Tuesday for my next installment is laughable though! Branston Pickles are also causing me considerable discomfort! Roll on Friday! Hurrah!

Hello to everyone else.... not sure if I've missed a post from kveta in the last day or so but don't seem to remember having seen anything.... hope you're ok!

McKayz · 03/05/2012 19:11

Gwen chicken pox is harmless in pregnancy if you have already had it.

Kveta · 03/05/2012 19:37

just popping in to say 'yuck' to the crypto - pretty parasite, not so pretty shits associated with it. As we are all immunocompromised by pregnancy, I'd say be very wary of it - and most definitely mention it to midwife. if you get any stomach upset symptoms, report yourself to the GP immediately so they can test for oocysts and provide the necessary support (I think mainly the treatment for crypto is monitoring and taking care over fluid intake, but am not a physician, so can't say for certain.). it should not be life threatening but it is NOT a nice infection.

I've just checked pubmed for crypto/pregnancy though, and there is very little info on it in humans (neonatal rats on the other hand Hmm).

slightly worrying that it's in herts though, I presume due to the recent deluges. hope it doesn't come over to this side of the county any time soon!!

busy busy busy here at the moment, working and cooking! just made about 4 meals' worth of cottage pie base, so think we're sorted for freezer foods now! had a meeting with my boss today, so had a good trip to cambridge, but am absolutely wiped out now. I only slept about an hour last night.

will read more and post more tomorrow hopefully, but saw a parasite mentioned and my ears pricked up, so I had to come and say hi :o

rhibutterfly · 03/05/2012 20:17

Hi all had my growth scan today, i'm 33+1 baby's head is measuring 34+3, belly 36+2 [yikes] and her little legs only 32+1.
On the downside the sonographer found DD2 has a non-functioning multicystic kidney so been referred to a uroligist who i'm hopefully seeing next friday, the midwife has said the second kidney is working well enough for them both so a little reassured seeing my consultant in morning so hopefully he can give me a bit more info before next week

rhibutterfly · 03/05/2012 20:19

Eww who's got the parasite, poor thing xx

ffnorm · 03/05/2012 20:59

Rhi sorry to hear about lo's kidney (must have been a shock as you don't really expect "bad diagnostic" news after the 20wk scan IYKWIM) At least as the MW said, with kidneys you have 2... Sure you'll feel a bit better after seeing the consultant tomorrow and the Urologist next week.

rhibutterfly · 03/05/2012 21:06

thanks ffnorm:)

10000fireflies · 03/05/2012 21:48

Thanks for the link blondie I was meaning to have a look at that one.

Suffering info overload now. Got loads of bumph from NCT. Not doing well at motivating myself to read any of it. Mind you, and not doing well at motivating myself to do anything at mo!!

Gwennie am Shock that the kid with the nasty parasite was sent into school. Hope you manage to avoid it.

Rhi hope you're ok after news re baby's kidney.

I have scan tomorrow. Is just routine, so hopefully no surprises in store.

Well a good glug of Gaviscon and off to bed for me. Sweet dreams all!!

rachyroodle · 04/05/2012 06:13

Just wrote a really long message and have lost it so will start again but try to be a bit more succinct!

Blondie I love that link. it is really helpful. Going to print and take when we do the fun shopping so buy useful things!

Rhi hope all ok when you see the specialist. Sounds like the baby is growing really well, though. I don't have a growth scan but at my 20 weeks I noticed that our babies head is above average size. ouch!

Gwen I hope you have not caught any bugs from your school kids. We have had to cancel seeing some friends this weekend because their youngest has chicken pox. really disappointing.

Amethyst Moon would be lovely to meet up. PM me and we will arrange. Have you finished work yet? have another 3 weeks in the office yet but am around all day every day after that! Have you finished yet?

Kveta am going to write to you so I can join the FB group. Will be lovely to see the pictures of everyone's little ones when they start to arrive. Also really jealous of your batch cooking. We don't have a freezer We live in a hobbit house and although have not missed it for the last 7 years (just have always had to eat the whole tub of ice cream as soon as I have bought it) I think I will start to now!

All good with me. Saw midwife yesterday and she thinks the baby is head down. I have been on spinning babies trying to do the inversion so not sure if it was this that helped or if I was just confused about where the babies head was to start with. I have just been going on where I can feel the hiccups. Also blood tests are showing not anaemic anymore :). Smallwonder hope your iron probs not causing you too much trouble. Have been reading your posts and feeling for you.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

thedogwalker · 04/05/2012 08:44

Morning all
Gwennie, hope you managed to avoid all the bugs at your school, you defo need to start ML.
Rhi, sorry to hear about the LO's kidney, I'm sure all will be fine when you go and see the consultant, there is so much they can do nowadays. Keep us all updated.
Fireflies let us know how the scan goes.
Well another day of ML. DS1 is at home with me today, so got to keep him entertained. Loving the extra days we are getting together now that I'm not working. I would love to be a SAHM and do feel guilty about going to work, so now that I'm off I'm making up for it.
Hope everyone has a great day, take care xx

Smallwonder · 04/05/2012 10:37

Morning everyone,
I woke in the middle of the night with a very sore bump, back and dead arm, woke DH in a bit of a panic, must've fallen into exhaustive sleep in super weird position. We managed to wake LO up, huge relief and then stayed awake until pain killers kicked in. Am now on the tired side, yawn.
Hope I remember everyone now:
bemybebe I was about to ask after you today -- glad u and LO are ok but sorry to hear about your property. Headache for u, easier said then done but try not to stress too much. Bad timing I know. Sending u Thanks
Gwennie Hope you stay bug/parasite free, Kvetas advice seems spot on. Nice to have your mum around helping. As for MIL, perhaps she forgets, is DH her only son? I only just had a landline put in, been without one for years, totally hate phone ringing, agree with tdw tis for our convenience only. When I'm busy or nap with dc phone goes on silent, landline is at constant low. If its an emergency we all have the technology to contact one or other, Viber being my preferred means for which we provided mil with a phone. She doesn't get on well with I though ;)
rhi - is good to know that the other kidney is doing what needs to be done, hope all goes well at next appt. keep us posted
tdw enjoy the day with ds -- bet he's loving all the mummy time
rachyroo thanks for remembering my iron drama :) blood test next week to see how levels are. Couldn't help smile at hobbit house -- good excuse to indulge!
fireflies how is/was scan today?
kveta I did a couple of curries yesterday and exhausted myself, there was barely much left to freeze after everyone had their share plus seconds Hmm I mustn't talk about food, suddenly feel ravenous!!
blondie good to hear you've been resting :)
ffnorm hope mw went/will go well today. Two of my cousins are married to SA men, also worked with SA colleague last year, don't know much geographically about SA though, ignoramus that I am!
ceej little bro will be rewarding u in return I hope! :) clever lad.
fanbelt good Luck with the mum of mentioned kids. Hopefully nothing too worrying, on the other hand, is absolute p* take if you weren't asked in advance and as much as I'd be inclined to help and be kind I'd be a bit peeved.
So I am going to fix a snack now, dc love it when I need to snack :) will say hello to cathfin SSC special mckayz justwantcheese and a slapped hand to those I didn't mention!

Going to Wales tomorrow, will drop off kids and have meal with my friends, hotel if I can book it now explaining to DH that mil's bed is no good for back and then a nice lunch with dc and ils before home. I am sick of miserable weathe n being stuck at home. Whoop to weekend x

Hi All

Have missed a few days on MN due to being really busy in work and there is so much to catch up on!
Rhi sorry about your news. Must be a shock but you can function normally on one kidney and I suppose it's good to know these things advice so she can get the right medical help when born. Hopefully the uroligist can reassure you.

Yuk to the parasite..sounds horrible. Gwennie hope you don't pick anything up from the kids.

Not much new with me...so glad it's Friday and a bank holiday weekend. It seems such a struggle to get through the days at the minute. 3 weeks to go until I finish.

blondie thanks for the article..it was great. I'll be off to buy another hat tomorrow. I need to get a a few more babygros too.

I must admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the breastfeeding info...as a first timer I don't really know what to expect and want to avoid teh experience by friend had where the minute the baby was born the breastfeeding "police" descended on her, forcing her to try. I really want to try it in my own time and not feel under massive pressure to make it work. I'd like to try it but as neither myself or DH were breastfed (and don't appear to have all the health and IQ problems that the books threaten) I don't want to feel pushed into it.

So excited, our cot and mattress arraived yesterday in DH's work but he came home without them as he had golf clubs in the car and there was no room :( Hopefully we can get that all done over the weekend. It will feel more real when we have a nursery decorated.

Waves to everyone else and hope you are all having a good Friday (restful for those at home and not too painful for those at work :) )

thedogwalker · 04/05/2012 13:54

Small Have a great time in Wales. Will be doing a trip there after LO is born, Anglessey is a long way from Wilts, so I need DH home as I wouldn't want to drive that far on my own.
Warlin, I was the same for DS1, the amount of BF pressure was way over the top. I bought in some bottles and a sterilser etc, but I didn't buy any milk, thinking, that if I did need it I could get that at pretty much any time of night so much easier than the bottles etc. I then just took each day as it came. First 2 days were fine, then my milk came in, Shock and I found it difficult to BF as my boobs were so hard, DS didn't want to latch on. However I managed and ended up BF for 9 happy months. I don't see it as a pass or fail thing, all you can do is your best and see how it works out. I plan on BF again this time, I am more confident, however if LO doesn't want to BF then there will be nothing I can do, so again, I'm just going to take it day by day. Sorry that this is a long post, but BF was one of the main things I worried about before birth and then chilled out about after. I just don't agree with all the pressure about it. If you want any further info, I am by no means an expert, but I am happy to discuss things in more detail Smile
I'm knackered, took DS1 swimming this morning, which does tire me, but is actually a relief on the bump, due to the weightlessness, but chasing round the pool after DS1, isn't relaxing at all. He loves it which is the main thing. Now got soem rest as DS1 is having his afternoon nap. Take care all xx

surfmama · 04/05/2012 16:49

does anyone have anything funny to post to brighten my mood? was measuring small yesterday ad have had more watery discharge so am back in hosi waiting for yet another inconclusive internal, really didn't want to come in.... feeling thoroughly miserable and will miss my lovely reflexology at 530 and probably still have to pay for it....aaarrrggghhh why did i listen to them and come in? miserable surf x

CathFin · 04/05/2012 17:30

Oh dear Surf - hope its nothing to worry about. Think they like to check you over 'just in case'!

Warlin - think you are right to just try BF and see what happens. The main bonus for me is that its much easier to supply a boob when they are little and want feeding more often than it is to prepare a bottle but I ended up giving DD some formula before we even left hospital as she was yelling for food so badly and had been almost constantly on my boobs the entire first night.

I do wonder if that's because there was meconium in my waters so she had done a big poo and needed a decent meal? Anyway after that start we did pretty much just bf until she was 8 months.
I know neither myself, nor my brother were given much breast milk and I doubt its made much difference to our health.

Rhi - hope your consultant gave you more reassuring information, must have been a bit upsetting to get news like that at this point.

Well I have been doing too much, my groin is very achy - almost feels like contractions but I think its just being stretched by the baby settling in down there. Anyway, Ow!
I have also tried to do too much and need hubby to get home to move the drawers I have piled up back into the chest which I have pushed into DS's room. Then the cot which has been in the hall for about 3 weeks can move into our room properly and stop being used as some kind of laundry airer.

surfmama · 04/05/2012 17:31

tanks kveta will check that out. lady next to me is eating bolognese and i am about to have internal and bloods...blurgh...

gwenniebee · 04/05/2012 19:05

Rhi sorry you had not-good-news at the scan. Isn't it amazing that they can pick things up like that, though? At least it won't be all panic after the birth.

Rach I had to laugh at the hobbit house too! We have a "proper" freezer for the first time in our new house... but I even find the fact that it's only three drawers quite limiting in terms of storage! A loaf of bread in one and a couple of curries or bologneses in another, then ice cubes, peas and sweetcorn in the last and it seems full! Will have to play tetris with it, I think....

Small sorry to hear of your eventful night! But sounds like all is good :) Enjoy Wales :)

Surf hope your day has gone ok... sounds miserable :(

Warlin yay to the cot but boo to the golf clubs!! I know which I'd have left in work... Wink Fortunately my DH, despite being a Scot and us meeting in St Andrews, does not golf. So I am not the golf widow that my mum is and any future SIL will be. Our appreciation is very much limited to enjoying pretty pictures of Augusta at the appropriate time of year!

Cath sounds like you need a sit down and a sleepyrest, as we call them in my house!

Heartburn made me sick last night :( Was really disgusting as basically woke up throwing up :( :( fortunately not on DH or ted though!!

I saw mw this morning and everything fine but bits on the comment-on-able level. Hmm. Confused Apart from urine which was genuinely fine Grin Am measuring on the small side but just on the scale, apparently, so "no need to worry" (but I will, because that is my default setting). BP is also quite low! This would explain the aforementioned dizziness.... how it can be low when work has been so stressy I've no idea. Particularly when prior to pregnancy it was usually on the high side. I'm not sure whether to be worried that it's dropped consistently since my booking appointment. (But as stated before, I will probably have no choice as to whether to worry or not Hmm stupid brain.)

News on the parasite front is that the mw didn't have a clue but referred me to the GP who had to look it up! Ooh I do love to be difficult Wink. GP said probably unlikely to have contracted anything but to let them know if I experience symptoms. Beginning with "a general sense of malaise".

Am flipping knackered and fed up with my class who seem to have understood nothing I've said today.... I don't have the energy!! 19 working days though :)

blondiedollface · 04/05/2012 19:25

As per usual, I have read each and every one of your posts with interest and absorbed absolutely nothing...

For all the heartburn/aches/pains I sympathise, I think we're all getting to 'that stage' now aren't we - wanting them to stay in and be healthy, wanting them out and to feel healthy ourselves!!

Surf Hope all ok with you.

Warlin DH hasn't yet discovered golf and I have absolutely every intention of keeping it that way... (Lucky for me he's a pale skinned nerd, and spends most of his time cooped up with his toys technological research). It did however take me standing over him to get our cot up, his 'nerdstation' was the very first thing fully unpacked when we moved house - surprising, no?

Gwen Glad the parasite seems to have by-passed you on it's journey :)

Rach Don't know how you live without a freezer!! I have been crunching my way through about 3 trays of ice a day in the last few weeks... But a cunning ploy for eating the whole ice cream tub in one go!

Kveta Your link has brightened my day Grin

Feeling a bit too dizzy to keep scrolling up and remember who said what, but waves to all and hope you are all doing well :)

P.S I don't want to link in on here if others don't want me to but I'm selling a few things on ebay for very cheap (think Ted Baker/Karen Millen/FCUK/O'Neill/Roxy) like 99p bids (inc shoes/bags/clothes), so if anyone would like a look just let me know :)

thedogwalker · 04/05/2012 19:51

Hi all
well another day over and another day closer to meeting our LOs.

Blondie my BP has gone down during both pg. Don't worry too much about it, there is nothing wrong with low blood pressure, yes it means you may suffer a bit of dizziness, but there is no harm to you or your LO. Much better than having a high BP. So just use it as an excuse to put your feet up Grin.

My DH has now been away for 6 months today, I cannot wait for him to come home at the end of the month, maybe then I can put my feet up Hmm.

Hope everyone is well, take care xx

blondiedollface · 04/05/2012 20:05

TDW It was Gwen who said about the low BP :) Mine's always been low, so I'm very happy that it's gone up to 110/60 being pg!

Bet you can't wait to have your DH home with you, not long now Grin Hopefully he'll let you have a massive rest and feet up session and do all the bits and pieces you've been doing for the past 6 months..? Take care yourself and enjoy the BH weekend Xx
