Good rainy morning to you all Brew been awake since just after 5 thanks to DS declaring it was rising time...

Tea so good to hear your story, sounds like you coped incredibly well and babytea is a real fighter - only 1 night of CPAP is amazing Smile Try and get as much rest as you can while he is in SCBU - the hospital environment is way more tiring than people think...

I'll pop back later, have a good day everyone!!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 01/05/2012 07:13

Morning all!

Tea - thanks for writing that up; loved reading it and you and BabyTea both did brilliantly.

Well, experienced something fairly unpleasant last night. Was mostly asleep but needed to stretch so did - you know, the one where you sort of tense your legs and bum and push down through your heels (hope that makes sense!). My pelvis made a really revolting gristle-y noise - bit like someone twisting the leg off a roast chicken. God it was horrible. Lay there for a bit too scared to move in case nothing worked anymore! Fortunately, had to get up for a pee later and all was well, but I really don't ever want to hear that noise again. Please, someone that's had a baby before, for the love of god tell me you don't hear that sort of noise when you give birth? A bit of crunching I can cope with, but it was so...roast chicken-like....Shock

Anyway, hope everyone else has a silent pelvis and a good day - see you later folks!

Tea - well done on writing it all done, think it really helps to have it on paper as you do forget how the birth went what will all the lack of sleep and everything. Sounds like Baby Tea is doing really well.
I shed a tear too, my hormones must be shocking, I'm crying about everything at the moment!

Seriously - eww - don't remember any chicken noises but I do get some disturbing clunks and clicks - don't think it will happen when you are giving birth, or at that point you probably won't notice!

Meh - more rain. Hubby and DD back tomorrow morning, can't wait to have DD back, its been very quiet without her around for a week! Think DS has missed her quite a bit too.

Kveta · 01/05/2012 09:41

tea wow, what a story! and how scary re: the clot - but great they found a cause for the bleeds. BabyTea sounds like he is made of strong stuff! your DH sounds fab too - I recall my DH being absolutely terrified and knackered at the same time when DS was born (I had a long stop-start labour, with eventual forceps delivery too - fun!). He still remembers the drive home from the hospital at 3am, having to decide whether to go slowly and steadily, or just hammer it home to get to bed ASAP - he went for hammering it home, which I am so glad I didn't know at the time... Can't wait to see more pics of BabyTea when you have some! (to set us all off weeping again, of course :o) And look after yourself, get as much rest as you can!

seriously clicking joints sounds normal, but still grim. Mine occasionally crunch in a gristly fashion, it is intriguing :o

I think my baby may have moved - the kicks have moved anyway. not sure what position she is in, but will find out at growth scan next week.

the weather is dire here again today. I was so looking forward to having a summer baby, and spending long days in the park/garden with baby feeding and DS gamboling around. Oh well. I suppose it might get better by june.

we were woken this morning by DS in our bed going 'Oh, what a big willy!' as he'd managed to somehow get in between us and whip his nappy off. He also headbutted me really hard on the ear, so that was a rather rude awakening! He is so so fascinated with his bits right now, which we are not sure whether to find hilarious or disconcerting. I am from a VERY prudish family, so am a bit weirded out by it, whereas DH is from continental Europe and thus much more comfortable with the whole thing :o

Regarding gifts from baby to toddlers. We have got DS a load of second hand toys to keep him occupied, but were thinking of getting him a leappad tablet thing for his birthday in september - and maybe bringing his gift forward a few months! Although DH is now muttering about just getting a cheap tablet for us all to use, on the understanding that it will be mainly for DS. I think I'll try and find a toy plane or digger, and a couple of packets of chocolate buttons to wrap up for baby to give to DS anyway, as I suspect he'll be thrilled enough with that. Or even a balloon - he spent half an hour chasing a balloon around yesterday afternoon, and loved it, was cackling like a loon, and so so sweaty by the end! but it wore him out in time for bed :o

hope everyone has good plans for this miserable weather, and nobody is spending too much time walking in it!

Warlin · 01/05/2012 10:22

Just wrote a big long post and it has vanished...doh!

tea thanks for all the detail, what an amazing story. I am sitting her teary eyed at the thought of it. Babytea seems to be doing well so hope you get him home soon. In the meantime def rest up and get yourself organised for his imminent home coming! You have done so well to cope with everything. Thanks ..(wishing there was a icon for a baby present!)

SSC that crunching sounds horrible..I bet you won't even notice if it happens in labour though!

kveta your DS made me laugh....think that's typical of wee boys...once they find their bits they are obsessed with them...for the rest of their lives :)

I am totally freaked out by a really horrible dream I had last night. I dreamt baby warlin was born and I was unconscious but woke up after the event to find that he was actually a fully grown child (and a really ugly one!) and not the wee newborn I was expecting. He was too big for the buggy, let alone the pram! I was so crushed...massively disappointed and we had all these visitors and I was ashamed to show them my baby. I just didn't want him :( And to add to it, my midwife had left me and forgotten to deliver the placenta and it was starting to bleed down my leg but nobody would help (think that part of the dream was because I needed the loo!!!!) I'm freaked as it's the first time I've thought about being disappointed by what comes out Shock. Surely that wouldn't happen??!

On the bright side ladies, we are into May! We are all having our LOs next month!

Kveta · 01/05/2012 11:52

Warlin I had dreams that I had given birth to a puppy last time. So did my mum when pg with me apparently :o quite creepy.

you won't be disappointed, trust me :) shellshocked, maybe!

callmemamma · 01/05/2012 12:09

Hi everyone!
Tea what an amazing story!you both have done really well!Babytea seems really strong and you'll have him home in no time(I know, easy for me to say...)
Warlin terrible dream but the reality should be a complete opposite :)
Did not post for ages but been reading consistently..
32 weeks check up with mw today but no concerns,I also feel like baby is positioned diagonally-ish,will ask midwife if she can tell..
New baby next month!Roll on maternity starting 1st June(although I only have 13 shifts left to do so not too bad
Have a good, rain free day everyoneWink

Miniangel · 01/05/2012 13:18

Hi Ladies

Tea what a great birth story, I am overwhelmed and teary eyed. So proud of you and BabyTea. You've all done so well, now only a few weeks and Baby T will be home. Take care of you.
Warlin scary dream for sure. Hope you have better dreams.
Kveta for announcement cards try vistaprint.co.uk if you want to get them printed or else there are great animated email variety at smilebox or pingg. Smilebox allows you to add photos and being animated is alot of fun. I used the site for my baby shower thank you cards.

I had a scare last night as my hyperactive baby did not move all evening, eventually I got so scared that I called the delivery suite at 2am and was told to come in but as I was getting ready the baby started to move. God! I do not want to go through that again. Thankfully the baby is moving now but not overtly so will still go in in the afternoon to get checked out I guess.

10000fireflies · 01/05/2012 14:05

Wow Tea your birth story was great to read. Thanks for sharing. It's actually made me feel quite calm about mine - if you can cope with all that then, so can I if I have to.

I am struggling to keep up with you all! So much news going on! Waves and hugs to all. FF xx

ceeej · 01/05/2012 17:01

Thanks so much for the birth story tea, your little family have all been through the mill getting this far. Hopefully it won't feel too long before you get to take babyT home and cuddle him constantly.

So much going on I'm struggling to keep up. SSC great that your homebirth plan has been approved, mine is also pretty certain so DH has started looking into the logistics of getting an inflatable pool. BP measurement is a nervewracking part of MW appointments, it's started creeping up but still in normal range so fingers crossed it stays there.

Just back from the dentist, had two ceramic fillings to replace cracked amalgam in root filled teeth. Unfortunately he found infections under the filling in both of them so ended up drilling and prodding me a lot more than expected and now my gums are throbbing. Desperately want to take something stronger than paracetamol :( We have ILs visiting this evening too, I get on really well with them but could be difficult trying be smiley and entertaining when I'm in pain. I probably need reminding that childbirth is going to be a whole new level of pain over toothache, must pull myself together!

Hope those of you with DC's have managed to get outside in the gaps in the rain today. I'm remaining optimistic that by the time we start popping the weather will be gorgeous and we'll all be able to spend plenty of time sitting outside and going for lovely summery walks Grin

gwenniebee · 01/05/2012 17:40

I'm another one sitting here having just had a good cry, Tea. A wonderful story and I'm so glad we're looking forward to a happy ending :) I can't wait for you to be able to cuddle him all day long either!

Feel like there's been a lot to catch up on today! Warlin I've had weird dreams too - one where the baby was talking (a bit like George Speaks), one where he was a little boy in my year group - (the little boy in question is Indian, too, which would be a surprise...) and one where it was a hairier version of my teddy bear!!

SSC really hope that doesn't happen for you again but must admit you made me laugh with your chicken analogy!

Kveta what a charmer your DS is!! Reminds me of a time I went swimming with my cousin and her toddler when I was about 15. We got out and her DS declared to all in the changing rooms "My willy's gone ALL BIG!!!" and then turned round and pointed at my boobs and said, equally loudly, "What are them two BIG ONES?" Being frightfully embarrassed by any reference to my body at that age this was mortifying!Blush Blush

Oh my word I'm definitely getting to the stage where baby's movements are verging on painful and really quite irritating!! I'd far rather feel him/her move than not, obviously, but there are times when it gets beyond a joke! I have no idea when it sleeps - it seems to wriggle immensely pretty much constantly.

Got my final NCT class tonight and apparently we get to meet some real live babies from the last course :) :) I wonder if we'll get cuddles.....

AmethystMoon · 01/05/2012 17:46

Hello everyone!

Tea wow! thank you so much for your post, I was in tears reading it. What a little star babytea is :) and it sounds like you really went through it, especially all that time with no sleep. I am so pleased that you're both well and like everyone else can't wait to see more pictures. I keep looking at the one you posted last week and marvelling that I have one like that in my tummy! - you'd have thought I might have realised that by now! I am also really impressed that you've managed to do some breast feeding - wow!

Blondie How are you? Hope you're taking it easy.

Gwennie your oblong story made me laugh. Blame baby brain, I sat down and typed a long email to one of my team at work today asking for an urgent update on a situation at work...and then noticed that she'd sent me all the information yesterday afternoon...and I'd read it Blush

SCCFingers crossed for your 36 weeks scan and that your LO will have moved upside down! Your description of the chicken leg noise made me go all funny, I hate it when my body clicks and groans like that. I hope it doesn't do it to you in labour!

Warlin I think the freaky dreams are normal in pregnancy, out NCT teacher discussed it with us and we are all having them. She said it is thought to be something to do with our brain dealing with fears that we have internalised Hmm

Fanbelt I get that burrowing in my pelvis feeling too. I mentioned it to my midwife about 2 weeks ago and she said LOs head wasn't in my pelvis yet :( but since then I am feeling it a lot more, so hoping when I see her next week Lo might be at least a little bit engaged Grin

McKayz I am so sorry to hear your DH won't be home until after your due date, that is just rubbish for you :( Fingers crossed you might be surprised and go a bit past your date....but not if you're in pain!

TDW your description of your bump dropping made my hair stand on end! I had been blissfully under the impression that it happens gradually and I wouldn't notice Grin I hope you're okay now.

Rachyroodle Hope your NCT goes well, I've got my second to last one tonight and it's all about breastfeeding, which I'm looking forward to. Unfortunately DP can't come as his Dad was rushed into hospital last night and he's still there with his Mum. Going to feel odd being on my own with the couples. That's great to hear you're near me, maybe post births when we're a bit more sorted we could meet up?

Kveta Your stories about your son are hilarious, he sounds fantastic. The 'big willy nappy' story had me in stiches :)

Hello and a big wave to everyone else...my memory is getting worse and I can only recall so much about what everyone's been up to!

Not much going on here with me except my sciatic nerve is being squashed and the hilarious symptom that produces is that my left leg keeps collapsing randomly with a nasty shooting pain. I'm off to see about getting crutches on Thursday as I am scared I will collapse int he middle of a busy road and be squashed myself!

Smallwonder · 01/05/2012 18:06

Evening all,
I just finished off some deliciously, mouth-watering, moreish, fat chick lovers nachos courtesy of DH covered in lashings of sour cream, guacamole, melted cheese and jalapeño he did a very good job!
ellybett thought I'd replied to u (I probably did but just mentally) then realised I hadn't -- how's the SPD now? That's great that you've brought time off forward because I do believe you'll need the rest. It's so awkward, rest too much though and it hurts, walk around too much it hurts... Hmm it's exhausting! Thanks for asking, have 2 more infusions but have postponed them until my mw takes blood next week. Don't see the point in he agony of more and DH taking time off if levels are raised, they couldn't take any from me last week to find out :( my fault.

Amazing dreams girls! I wish I slept long enough to do so, would be interesting to analyse other than why my face is almost squashed up against a wall, drooling saliva, and back in agony on waking tee rum

God knows what weather will bring so I just stocked up on jigsaws, games and paints for dc even though I was more inclined to get more Lego because I could spend hours building it with them as they need more.

Amymoon -- I'd recommend crutches. I so benefited last pg. hope you're not in too much pain though!
Hi to everyone x

Smallwonder · 01/05/2012 18:24

So sorry can't remember everyone, ceej my sympathies on the dental treatment, SSC on your chicken twinges :) sorry sorry or forgetting folks Blush

DairyNips · 01/05/2012 22:05

tea wonderful storySmile Bet it's been quite the rollercoaster. Sounds like you did brilliantly during labour, you must have been knackered in the end! What a trooper you are! So glad baby tea is doing so well.

Warlin I would bet my life you won't be disappointed with what comes out! It's amazing and magical and unique, quite an awesome experienceSmile Crazy dream though, I have some really odd dreams sometimes!HmmGrin

thedogwalker · 01/05/2012 22:24

Hi all,
Tea thanks so much for your birth story, what a journey your LO has already been on, I am glad he is doing well and you are doing amazing to keep up the BF etc. Take care of yourself.
Ellybett, I've luckily got a great DM, I live in Wilts and she lives in Yorkshire, (being a yorkshire lass) and I am going home next week to collect my DM and bring her to live with me until after the birth. At least that way, if LO does come early, my DM is here to look after DS1, so that I don't have that to worry about.

SSC that noise didn't sound too good, made me wince, hope you're still ok, and that it doesn't repeat tonight.
Had a terrible night last night, first time I have suffered from heartburn, never had it before and OMG, it got me big style last night, all night long (no remedies in the house as I don't normally suffer it). It's stayed with me all day, even drinking water has caused a burning feeling. I am not looking forward to lying down tonight, might have to do the pumped up pillow thing and hope that helps. My sympathies to all of you who have been suffering with this ailment for a long time, my heart goes out to you.
Off to bed now so sweet dreams to everyone and especially you Warlin, happy dreams for you Smile xx

DairyNips · 01/05/2012 23:08

tdw sorry to hear about your heartburn. If you have nothing in the house a drink of milk might help a bit. Hope you don't suffer again tonight.

CathFin · 02/05/2012 07:00

TDW - horrid isn't it - hope it wasn't so bad last night, get some Gaviscon or Rennies just in case it carries on!

Small - how do you eat jalapeno's! They would give me massive heartburn at the moment, and I love Nacho's!

DD and DH got back from Ireland at 4.30am so DD gave me a rather lengthy update before retiring to her bed and then DS got up a bit ago so I think I'm going to have a tired day today!

I have got some weird muscle pain going on around the back of my pelvis - wondering if the baby has moved down as I don't think I did anything else to have made it so painful??
Also the little one spent all yesterday evening refusing to move which freaked me out, then of course as soon as I lay down properly to get to sleep it started biffing me all over. Ow!

SeriouslyStrongCheddar · 02/05/2012 07:12

Morning all!

tdw - sorry to hear about the hearburn. It's horrid - I've had it for weeks, although now I think about it, not for the last few days. Maybe a breech baby gives more room for digestion! Think I'd rather have the hearburn Grin

So, baby was massively mobile around 3.30am today - may have turned head down again as there was one of those nauseating movements where it feels like he's lengthways across the uterus instead of up or down! Much lurching and kicking / punching after that move so will see what he gets up to today - need to work out whether to carry on with the inversions and tilts or not!

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day - see you all later!

OP posts:
McKayz · 02/05/2012 07:54

TDW Sorry about the heartburn. Milk can help and strangely so can sweets like Love Hearts. But I would get some gaviscon or rennie just in case.

SSC I hope he's moved for you. I have a horrid feeling that baby is no longer head down as all the movements feel diagonal now.

Sorry I haven't been about much, I feel like all I am doing right now is moaning. I am so fed up of being pregnant and can not wait to get it over and done with.

Hope you are all well.

AmethystMoon · 02/05/2012 08:14

Morning all

Small mmmm nachos...my favourite....need nachos (well maybe not for breakfast, but maybe later) Grin

SSC I think I know what you mean by the nauseating movements, I've been quite lucky so far in that my LO has been quite gentle with me - however at NCT last night she really made me feel ill. I could see a foot (or similar?) whacking out through my stomach and given my placenta is anterior, she must have been kicking through that as well...ewww it was horrible. Don't get me wrong I am very happy she's obviously moving well, but...ewwww!

McKayz I seem to be getting diagonal patterns of movement, but as it's my first I don't really know or have anything to compare it to Confused. Hopefully your LO will swing back around head down soon.

I had my NCT breastfeeding night last night and am happy to say it was very good. I was clueless though so it all seemed very helpful to me. They gave us a list of drop in clinics, all fairly local and on every day of the week, so if ever I am stuck sobbing and at my wits end I have somewhere to go :) I've got my very last night at NCT tonight and I don't think DP is going to make it as his Dad is still in hospital and he has a job interview tomorrow and hasn't had time to prepare as he's been ferrying his Mum around for the last day or so to see his Dad. Hopefuly I won't feel too left out though :(

Right, best I get on with some work I have to prepare the selection process for my maternity cover recruitment today...we're interviewing the first candidate on Friday morning, then the rest next Wednesday. I just hope we find someone that is okay, or I'm going to stress the whole time I'm off about what they're doing!

Have a happy Wednesday everyone
x

TeaandHobnobs · 02/05/2012 10:49

Thanks everyone for your kind words Smile I was a little worried about posting my story, as I didn't want to scare anyone (particularly my fellow first-timers!) but if you have found something positive from hearing my experience, then that makes me really glad Smile

SSC I know what you mean about those nauseating movements! While I was on the antenatal ward, every day at around 5pm BabyTea would drag some limb in an excruciatingly slow fashion across the front of my bump - it made me feel so bleugh!

tdw Would you like me to send you my supply of gaviscon tablets? Grin I have quite a few packs but no need for them now!

BabyTea is doing well today - he had a really good go at bfing for his 9 o clock feed, and the nurse is trying him back on 3 hourly feeds rather than 2 hourly today. He'll be weighed tomorrow so we will see if he's starting to regain any weight yet - at his last weigh on Sunday, he'd dropped to 4lbs. 2nd postnatal check with my MW this afternoon - need to buy her some pressies on my way home from the hospital! I love her so much, I really wish I didn't have to move over the the HV Sad

Looking forward to breastfeeding antenatal class on Friday afternoon - just hope I don't get too many Hmm looks due to my lack of bump (or rather reduced size of bump, not kidding myself that much! Wink)

Tea break over - time to go do some expressing. I have been bad and not been getting up to do an express in the middle of the night, so BabyTea had to have some formula mixed in last night Sad It's hard to get out of bed without a crying baby to motivate you!

Love to everyone - not long now!

rhibutterfly · 02/05/2012 11:16

well done tea hope the time flies til babytea is home xx

SpecialJK · 02/05/2012 11:35

tea you're a trooper, you sound like you're doing so well. Congrats.

TDW you can get a gaviscon prescription free from the doctors. saves a lot of money. I just called and got mine over the phone, no need to go see him.

I'm getting hiccups about 5 times a day. I love LO, but it's quite annoying when I'm trying to go to sleep, like I have a nervous twitch just above my hip. Felt guilty last night for being annoyed.

{sending out head down vibes to everyone}

justwantcheese · 02/05/2012 12:36

hi tea well done ,hope you're home with your gorgeous son soon.
gwennie I had an oblong moment too! mine was- is hypnotherapy something to do with water?
kveta -hope the dizziness eases off, i think it's either all the blood going to baby or could be lack of iron.

warlin dogwalker andrachyroodle how are the bumps? any more movement, can't believe our babies are getting into place for the final hurdle!
