Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
CathFin · 11/05/2012 06:39

Oh dear TDW - mine was bit better last night - am using lots of pillows and for some reason despite a big meal it was better than it has been.

DC woke me up far too early though and then DD tries to blame it on 'the foxes' - now we do have some that trot through the garden and bark sometimes but I doubt they are waking her up every morning!

Warlin · 11/05/2012 09:26

* winge alert*

I started feeling really faint driving home from work yesterday, broke out in a hot flush, thought I was going to pass out..thankfully I got home and had to lie down. My bump started getting really sore and crampy and I jsut felt horrible. I was scared to move. I ended up falling asleep at 7pm and woke again at 11 and went to bed. It's so not like me and I don't know what it was. I feel a bit better today but still not great. I'm in work but think I'll work from home on Monday. Has anyone else felt like this? I don't know if it's just exhaustion/ ligament stretching/ LO changing position...I really did think I was going into early labour Shock.

Does anyone else's bump hurt?

LO is very active so I'm assuming he's ok and it's my body doing funny things.

Not sure I can cope with 2 more weeks at work and 4 more weeks of feeling this rubbish :(

And TDW I'm with you on the heartburn...yuk!

CathFin · 11/05/2012 09:31

Warlin - have a day in bed, you probably just need a proper rest. I've been getting hot flushes too on and off and my bump certainly hurts - the baby is really whacking around in there.
Its a good idea to be rested if it is labour starting - hope you have not much to do this weekend!

CathFin · 11/05/2012 09:32

Forgot to say yesterday that I was measuring 35cm at 34 weeks - not good for me pondering whether this baby is going to be bigger than DS at 9lb4oz.

DairyNips · 11/05/2012 09:55

Morning everyoneSmile

Sorry to those feeling crap and suffering from heartburnSad

It'll soon be a distant memory, I know it doesn't feel like that right now though!

Warlin not sure about the hot flushes, maybe it's just tiredness, I often get like that when tired. Take it easy and try to restSmile

Midwife check up went fine for me yesterday. It was a midwife I haven't seen before, she wasn't very talkative but from a quick check of my notes afterwards I can see all is ok. I'm measuring 35wks when I'm 36 so that's ok. Baby is head down and in the cephalic position which is good so I hope it stays like that! Ds1 turned back to back and the labour was all in my back.. Ds 2 turned back to back towards the end but I managed to turn him by sitting forward most of the time/sitting on birthing ball with knees lower than hips and leaning over birthing ball on all fours in the eveningSmile labour was slightly more bearable.. I'll be careful not to go lounging back so he doesn't turn (fingers crossed)

We've started the big clothes sort out, going well so far, can't wait to have a less cluttered house!

So glad it's almost the weekend Shock

ffnorm · 11/05/2012 11:31

Warlin hope you are feeling ok at work! Take it easy Smile

I'm with you all about the weather!!! But I mustn't be ungrateful as the Dec DS was born it snowed from the Nov through to Feb and I was housebound and lonely etc etc. Still a little park time would be nice...

Who was it who had the saliva problem??? I am ok during the day but the dribbling at night is getting rediculous.

Dairy glad to hear the MW app went well.

TDW drive safely!! It will be nice to have your mum with you,I'm looking forward to mine coming even though we can drive each other mad at times Grin

Waves at Pink and Rrayray

I'm off to have bloods done sometimes I wonder if most of us would avoid aneamia if they would just stop taking so much blood from us

rhibutterfly · 11/05/2012 12:54

lol at bloodsfform had glucose tolerance test today they took blood TWICE the little suckers.
Suffering along with everyone else in heartburn dept although eased a little since LO dropped a bit in week.
Found out last night instead of going to local university hosp for deep scan on LO's multicystic kidney i have to go to Bristol Shock i live in south wales so not even sure how many miles that is,i do know its a 2hr 20min train ride each way and will cost £76 for 2 of us to go(moan over) in the long run it'll be worth it to know for sure a week earlier than i thought i would that LO will cope fine with the one kidneySmile
By the way, we have SUN in south wales yay,was about to biuld an ark, have a lovely weekend everyone.

ceeej · 11/05/2012 12:57

ffnorm too true, especially when they take one of each type of tube 'just in case' when you only actually need one blood test!

Warlin hope you're feeling a bit better now, sounds like you are in need of a good long rest over the weekend

Cath fingers crossed LO doesn't turn out too big

Another MW appointment done, baby is measuring correctly, left occipito-anterior and 2/5 engaged so all she needs to do is stay there for another few weeks. Dairy she made a big point that that they can still move around, that must have been so annoying, must remember not to slouch.

MW was a bit concerned about the oedema in my hands and feet, BP still fine and no protein in urine so it's not pre-eclempsia but I've been instructed to do lots of ankle circles with my feet in the air and to keep trying to remove my wedding ring otherwise they might have to cut it off :(

MammaInTheMaking · 11/05/2012 12:59

Blondie i went to a Lazy Daisy couples workshop and it was fantastic. Really great class and the people were lovely too. So normal!! Am considering dropping in on a class when i'm 39 weeks but will definitely be going to the baby classes. These are from 6 weeks.

I saw my midwife yesterday and was given a dressing down for 'doing too much'. So from now on i'll be working from home 3-4 days a week and only commuting into London on the other days. Thankfully I only have 2 weeks to go :D:D

I went on a tour of the birth centre last night and the whole thing was a shambles, about 30 couples, hardly any seats, HOT! Thank goodness, i've not had any issues with this pregnancy (i count my lucky stars about this) but i started to feel so faint in there. Urgh it was horrid. Couldn't hear the midwife because there were so many people...bla bla bla. Anyway, we still want to give birth there, but it did put a bit of a downer on the experience. A can of Sprite picked me up afterwards though :o

rrrrayray i hope the house move went well.

Mega BH going on with me today Confused

AmethystMoon · 11/05/2012 13:11

Hi all

Wooohooo it's Friday...a weekend to rest before work again on Monday boooo!

Bemy Mine says predicted becuae although they said girl at 20 week scan, DP is convinced it's a boy cos he thinks he saw boy bits and everyone keeps telling me I am carrying all out front, so it's a boy?! Very concerned about all the girls clothes we have.

Ceeej Congratulations, amazing achievement!

Cathfin Hope you enjoy your spa day, my Mum has promised to take me to Champneys for the day after baby is borm..well not straight away I assume Hmm

Special really sorry to hear about your fibroid pain, my Mum suffered with those and I can remember the agony she went through :( Big hug

Blondie eeek! fully engaged...well done! Your massage sounded lovely. My LO has now officially droppped but not engaged. I am V jealous!

Kveta thank god it's not just me, I thought I was going into labour on Weds evening...but was just trapped wind too...I was terrified! Blush I laughed a lot at your huge fart...same here!

Warlin I've got back ache too...off to physio in a minute. I hope you're feeling better after yesterday?

McKayz - gosh your student MW sounds like she's um, very early on in her training?! Here's hoping that's the reason!

Surf that is such good news to hear that you're okay. Glad you've got enough fluid for LO to bob about in :)

Gwennie Urghh! Nasty parent...how rude. That's just the sort of crap you don't need :( Big hug...I bet you're a fab teacher x

10000FF I guess at least I you are induced at 40 weeks your LO will be fully cooked. I hope you don't have to go through that though.

My MW has just told me I won't be allowed i the birthing centre if I carry on being light headed, it'll be the labout ward for me. I really want to try a water birth and obv that's alittle dangerous if I am liable to faint. That said, the dizziness has improved since LO dropped at the weekend...so fingers crossed..and I am sick of not being allowed to drive!!

Have a great Friday everyone, right my get my arse off to physio or I'll be late!

McKayz · 11/05/2012 13:30

Amethyst nope she's a couple of months away from being fully trained!!!

Warlin · 11/05/2012 14:25

Wow "amehtyst* that was a big post!! No sign of baby brain with you!

rhi sorry that you have to go so far to get the scan but it's better to get it down in the best place possible and the sonner the better,......hopefully then you'll be a bit more reassured.

Well I have officially done nothing in work today! My time has been spent on fb, MN and a mutilitude of other google sites :) Oh and just met my friend for lunch who dreamt I had LO on 6th June (9 days early).

Work are lucky to have me here today [hmmm]

Kveta · 11/05/2012 14:25

ffnorm I'm sure when giving blood they just prick your finger and a single drop of blood (in a copper based solution - or at least, it was blue, so I'm guessing copper!) to check iron levels, not sure why they can't do the same in pregnancy?!

Amethyst that's a shame about the birthing centre - but don't worry about a delivery unit, I had DS on one, and it was fine. By the time he was emerging, I could have been on the serengeti plains and I wouldn't have noticed tbh :o

McKayz what was the student thinking?! at my booking appt, the real MW took my BP first, THEN let the student loose :o

rhi can you make the trip to Bristol a day out, may make it more fun than if you just go for a scan? Last time I was there, I was banned from the SS Great Britain for life :o Hope the scan goes well though, it's horrible having that niggling worry beforehand.

ceeej has the fact that you are a doctor sunk in yet?! crap about having to remove your wedding ring - I wore my engagement ring the whole time last pregnancy, as was so sick of the 'do you know who the father is?' comments in the states, before DH had proposed. my wedding ring is getting tight now though, so am debating whether to keep it on or not.

sorry not to reply to everyone, have to dash in a wee minute to collect DS from the CM - she's off on holiday next week for 4 weeks, so this is my last 10 minutes without a child or work! from next week onwards, I will be with DS all the time, except working hours M-W, so am looking forward to it - and dreading it in equal measure!!

have a great weekend everyone! let's hope the weather improves!

McKayz · 11/05/2012 14:32

Kveta What did you do on SS Great Britain?? We haven't been on it yet but we are planning on it.

Rhi Is the scan going to be very soon after baby is born? I imagine it is but if not and it happens to be between 9th and 12th August I will be in Bristol visiting in laws and going to see the balloon fiesta!

SpecialJK · 11/05/2012 14:59

warlin your pain sounds exactly like what I had about 3 weeks ago on the train. Faint, very hot (sweating around my forehead), felt like I was going to be sick/poo myself all at once, very crampy. It lasted about a minute.

I'm convinced it was the baby turning 180 degrees inside me. Have you felt kicks in a different place since then?

Just back from a lovely lunch with the girls I met at my NCT class. The boys are going out for beers tonight. We're getting a joint 'bump' photo done next Thursday! (i only agreed on the basis there was lots of airbrushing)

AmethystMoon · 11/05/2012 16:47

Mckayz OMG!!! Nearly fully trained?!

Warlin ha ha! Nope fully fledged baby brain here..... Have to use notepad and pen to write long posts Grinr

kveta your Serengeti comment made me laugh, I believe you Smile thank you for the reassurance. Am busy trying very hard not to be dizzy Hmm

rhibutterfly · 11/05/2012 16:49

Sorrymckayz it's this monday coming, they'll have to scan the baby once she's born but hopefully closer to home xx
Thanks all,i'm not a worrier by nature just like to have all the facts as soon as possible.

ceeej · 11/05/2012 18:10

kveta I'm dying to know what on earth happened on SS Great Britain??

No luck getting the ring off yet, will keep trying. My lovely grandparents sent me a congratulations card addressed to Dr. ceeej and I won't let DH get rid of the envelope yet, thinking the novelty will last a while!

McKayz · 11/05/2012 18:22

Can we start calling you DrCeeej?? Grin

Kveta where are you?? Spill the SS Great Britain beans!! Grin

gwenniebee · 11/05/2012 19:12

I'm with them, kveta, this has become need to know information!!

Hello to all and deep sympathies to all heartburnees.... I'm right there with you :(

warlin that sounds really nasty, definitely like you need some proper rest.

I'm delighted this evening as have been told I don't have to go into work tomorrow for open morning. It would have been farcical, I can't give any tours because I can't walk all around the school and be on my feet for hours, and my classroom is being changed use next year so no-one would be coming up there to show off our facilities if I sat up there to answer questions. Plus as I only started there in September, I don't really know anything about the areas of the school that I don't work in! So, suddenly to be told I can spend the time at home writing my reports feels like a godsend :)

mamma shame about the tour.... sounds not exactly like they're kitted out for lots of pregnant women. Which isn't entirely reassuring...! I rang a while ago to book mine, and was asked what my due date was... then told they hadn't got anything til July! Arse....

rhi hope the scan goes well and is reassuring.

Thanks to all who said nice things to me about my crappy day yesterday :) Of this term, three weeks down, three to go!! Whoopee!!!

Smallwonder · 11/05/2012 19:58

Hi ladies,
Sorry not to comment on individual posts but from what I remember a congratulations to our Dr in the house, hoping that Warlin is well and rested, Physio goes well for Amethyst, RHI that trip goes okay and sorry its so far, feel free to pm me for my mobile number in any case of any emergency on day of commuting, my best friend is from S.Wales (as is DH) and works in Bristol. At least, if you needed anything I know she finishes work at around 4ish. Wish i could be of more help. Gwennie, sorry to hear about that day at work, had similar with a parent once, you just can't please everyone all of the time. I think it's great that you're still there tbh, well done you. Sorry for anyone i've not commented on, have read but haven't retained.

No idea if its total lack of iron again but am simply exhausted and no joke. Didn't even manage a simple project with DS1 today, it's ridiculous. Typing this in bed with absolutely no energy whatsoever. I'm worried that previous infusions have all but been used now and will need several more, I'm just so void of any energy. Sorry for grumble. I think DH must be so sick of me being like this -- its just not funny anymore.

Have a wonderful weekend all. It should stay dry here. x

Kveta · 11/05/2012 19:58

:o

I was on a school summer course at the University of Bristol - it was the first one they'd run (run by the Sutton Trust) and they had a big party on the last night - on the SS Great Britain - and despite the fact we were all 16/17 year olds, they laid on vast quantities of free booze. It got messy...

(I didn't actually drink anything, but I did break my wrist by tripping up some stairs on the way out).

Anyway, they decided after that that we were all banned for life from the SS Great Britain, as there was a lot of sick and destruction. No idea how they'd enforce the ban, but it amuses me, as I was such a feeble teenager - din't do anything particularly rebellious!

and YAY it's the weekend!!

ffnorm · 11/05/2012 21:07

I've ended up having quite a stressful afternoon...

Went with DH to fetch DS from nursery,DH stayed in the car as he had a phone call to make and coming out the gate,DS bolted,I lunged forward to stop him running into the road - missed him and fell forward, landing directly onto my bump. And them in falling knocked DS over.

DH took me to the Maternity Triage where I was hooked up to the CTG and monitored for a while - very nice Midwives!! They feel lo is fine,HR nice and regular but if she stops moving or I start to bleed or lose fluid then to go back.

Was so stressed - spent most of the ride to the hospital in tears.Still worried but less so,as she's been moving quite alot since getting home.

Kveta · 11/05/2012 21:30

ffnorm how scary. hope you feel ok, and can relax over the weekend.

Smallwonder · 11/05/2012 21:52

ffnorm you must've had a bloody big fright! Panic of DS plus actual fall will have been enough to make any mother the same. Can u pls take it easy now? Smile

If you've been monitored and LO is moving around then everything's fine I guess. Drink a fizzy soda if u panic -- works for me!!

Feet up. Am still in bed other than hobbling around when uncomfy and starting to feel a wee bit better. Pls do the same xx
