Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Fanbelt · 10/05/2012 11:40

Oh dear McKayz - sounds like student MW needs a bit more practice! I'll never forget having a student doctor try to take blood from me after having DS2. I'm not squeamish and don't mind needles and I understand they have to learn but he completely butchered my arm and in the end I had to ask him to get a nurse to do it properly - ended up very sore and with massive bruise.

surfmama · 10/05/2012 11:43

arrrr mckayz don't they send us into panic!

Thanks for asking and sorry i haven't posted sooner. spent about 6 hours in hosi the other eve as they told me they could look at fluid around baby, turned out they couldn't but aske to do another spec exam which I politely refused as last time they said 'erm well erm well yes is is watery but could just be discharge' so didn't want pain, digging around and the same response! they booked me in for scan yesterday and checked size and fluid (doesn't help when the first person I saw at the hospital asked how many weeks I was and said 'oooo aren't you tiny!' fuck off. anyway, I feel huge so no idea why people think that!

Long and short of it is fluid is 17.4 which is more than 17.1 a few weeks ago and not much more fluidy stuff, so I think it must just be discharge - nice - baby measurements are all spot on so breathed a sigh of relief. bp was up... but i was so freaked out by all the talk of small babies and waters going I don't think that was a surprise!

So all good in camp surf.

Keep having dreams about baby, awwww so sweet can't wait now. both dp and I dreamt we had a girl, although we have no idea.

warlin and dogwalker i have pain at bottom of bump too and hold it up often, think it's ligaments.

blondie oh wow. hang in there how exciting. i am a little low on iron and trying to be a hippy and not take tablets, eating apricots, walnuts and red meat to try to up my iron.

hello all, hope those on their own are coping okay. whoever posted about their new arrival and their already here child saying baby had been run over or whatever it was (pregnancy brain) made me pee myself!

Florin · 10/05/2012 11:46

Sorry haven't been around much, I find this thread so hard to keep up with, so end up on the facebook group more!
Hope everyone is ok, not long to go now. 6 weeks for me can't wait!

Hi Everyone

Hope all of you are well. I have missed the last 5 pages but will catch up soon.

I was getting really bad itching on my hands and soles of my foot and have been vomiting again so went to MAU and they ran all the tests for OC and pre-eclyamsia. Thankfully I do not have either of the conditions but nobody can explain the itching. Had a growth scan on 8th and the baby is 2.4kgs, head down and growing alright.

oh dear McKayz sounds like your student MW has a lot to learn still! Fingers crossed baby has a shuffle around to find your pelvis soon.

Fanbelt hope your DS gets his birthday party without any dramas, it's very brave of you to even consider entertaining 5 little boys at the mo.

kveta ouch to the wind, good job it got out eventually! Your DS's comments are hilarious, sure it's not quite so funny when you have to deal with them though.

Sorry to hear you're suffering at work Warlin, hope the next two weeks goes nice and quickly for you.

Nothing much to report here, spent most of yesterday napping, managed some tidying this morning but in need of a rest already. Mission for today is to actually write down my birth plan so I can show it to MW tomorrow.

duh, managed to miss a whole section of comments there, surf glad to hear you're doing OK still even if they've failed to work out exactly what the discharge is. mini hope the itching clears up soon.

thedogwalker · 10/05/2012 12:44

Hope all the non sleepers are not feeling too bad and that you get a better sleep tonight, sending you all lots of sleeping vibes.
McKayz Ouch to the trainee midwife, your second set of BP was much better, surprised it didn't rocket with the stess she was causing due to her inexperience. Glad all was ok in the end. You still have plenty of time for LO to move into right position. My MW said this morning, to sit leaning forward and do hip rotations etc to coax LO into right postition.

surf great to hear from you again and that all is ok. Hope everything runs smoothly for you now.
Had 36 week MW check today. MW came to my home and did Birth plan and BF chat etc. I'm measuring 33, not worried about that as the measuring is never spot on and my BP is dropping again 90 / 50. No wonder I've been feeling tired again, but at least I'm not at work. LO is head down but not yet engaged. As this is not DC1, apparantly there is still room for LO to move out of position, hence her telling me to sit leaning forward etc, to prevent LO changing.

Sending lots of happy vibes with plenty of energy attached for those of you still at work.
Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

Warlin · 10/05/2012 13:27

mckayz sounds like a frustrating trip to the MW!!! And sounds like student MW still has a long way to go Grin There is a still plenty of time for LO to turn though so I wouldn't worry too much yet (easier said than done I know)

fanbelt brave decision on the sleepover! I know what you mean about wanting DS to not dfeel as though the baby is ruining his birthday but even if LO stays put, 5 little boys talking all night when you are trying to sleep can't be good...just make sure DH is on duty that night!!

TDW exciting that DH will be home in 20 days...! Really won't be long going in! Comments like that do make me realise that we really are nearing the end of our pregnancies:) Hope LO stays put until he gets here.

Miserable and raining here.....roll on 5pm

Homeade chocolate brownie is out of the oven, passes round and Brew for those in need of a boost Smile

DairyNips · 10/05/2012 13:40

Mmm thanks for the brownieGrin

ellybett · 10/05/2012 14:40

TDW how did you know, chocolate brownie is exactly what I needed! I ate a tube of pringles yesterday, a decision I sorely regretted later on!

cath happy birthday for yesterday. I am incredibly Envy at your spa day. I've been dropping very obvious hints to DH about back ache and how a massage would be lovely but so far no hint of a spa day on the cards!

special hope you're feeling better, sounds like a traumatic time but brilliant LO seems to be doing fine.

smallwonder is it today the kids are back? Hope you're stocked up on hidden chocolate and they're not toooo perky! Glad you managed to have a bit of time to yourself though.

fan did the physio do the trick? I've had a couple of sessions but it's really not done much for me, whether because its hormonal and all at the front I don't know. I had it with DD1 but less so and I think it disappeared about 8/10 weeks after birth.

kveta I've been there! The combination of constipation and wind is outrageous at the moment. That being said, when I went into labout with DD I was absolutely convinced it was constipation, to the point I made DH phone up the delivery suite and ask if I could take a laxative! When he told them I was having pains every 2 minutes and 'needed a poo' they told him to get me there quick smart!

So it was my last day in work yesterday, woohoo. Soo relieved as I have been struggling with balancing it all. To celebrate I'd thought I'd pop to our local retail park to get the 'coming home' outfit from M&P and buy the last bits and bobs for the hospital bag, only to discover I'd left my purse at work! So my triumphant departure from the office involved me sloping back in red faced to much laughter! Plus side is DH will take me back there tonight and treat me and DD to a lovely tea so silver lining.

Don't judge me but I've been giving DD my phone in the mornings when she gets into bed with me and putting Walking with Dinosaurs on Youtube for her so I can squeeze a few minutes dozing in between her shouting 'mummy, wake up'!

Elly I don't judge you at all on that. My DS wakes up every morning about 5.30. I leave him to play in his cot, which he is happy to do for about an hour. I only get up when he starts shouting "Mummy breakfast", then I know he's had enough and I drag myself out of bed. Every minute counts at the moment, so I take all I can.

gwenniebee · 10/05/2012 17:20

Hello to all... wow lots going on today, I don't think I can keep up! Actually, rephrase that... there's no way I can keep up! So forgive in advance that I will have forgotten who said what, even though I've read every post!

Kveta I can definitely sympathise with the farty-party Blush. Embarrassingly, this is not a problem I find is limited to pregnancy!! [double Blush] I get awful stomach cramps, most days (although ironcially they've been a bit better while I've been pg) Drs helpfully labelled it "IBS" and did bu**er all about it despite the fact that it's excruciating. Normally only find lying completely flat on my back for sometimes nearly an hour relieves it...... usually with a lovely whizzpopper!! Mortifying!! And certainly not something one can do in public....

TDW Yum to the brownie.......

McKayz flip... they need to learn but can't they choose someone else to practise on??!!

Surf glad things sound good with you :)

Well I had a truly rubbish day at work. Been having such stress with these one parents and their child, and this morning had a meeting at 8.15 with mother and my head of department (who is useless) where the mother basically harangued me about how awful I am as a class teacher, her daughter feels she can't come to me if she has a problem, I treat her unfairly and essentially I've been victimising her. The child's reports since she started school all say the same things that I say about her, but the mother insists I'm the first teacher she's ever had a problem with. I've had to collate feedback from other staff over the last week to give to the parent, all of which says the same as I say but the mother has decided this is because I specifically asked for negative feedback on her child. As I pointed out, to treat her child unfairly or to ask only for negative feedback would be entirely unprofessional of me. To which she said "Well yes. Exactly." as though she was delighted that I'd just described myself as unprofessional. She said I was the reason she was removing her two children from the school because they couldn't "handle all this stress again". Felt like telling her what a complete misery they have made my life for the last year, but..... that would have been unprofessional. Couldn't even go and have a good cry about it afterwards as my class came in immediately she left!! (My class, I must say, are gorgeous and with the exception of this child we all get on very well!)

Rant over. 16 working days to go.

blondiedollface · 10/05/2012 18:16

Brain totally disengaged today, but to all those of you not sleeping well, I'm with you. Hope you all get a better night tonight!

Had a massage this morning and goodness me, it felt good! Masseuse specialises in pregnancy massage and she said my body felt 'ready' as if I were very close to having LO, talked through my birth plan and how I felt about everything and she said she was impressed with how positive and relaxed I seemed about it all - which was pretty nice to hear and very reassuring!

This did however spur me to go on a mini shopping spree this afternoon and I now have 2 very lovely nursing bras and a nice top that I can breastfeed whilst wearing :)

Am starting Lazy Daisy Birthing Classes this Sunday, a series of 5 (wonder how many I'll get to go to before LO arrives?) which is all about active birthing and yoga/pilates to help with pain, looking forward to it and meeting some other mums-to-be finally!

10000fireflies · 10/05/2012 18:30

HIya everyone

Am continuing to fail to keep up with you all. Grin

Amethyst thanks for asking how scan went. Baby seems ok, though liquor v low, so if no improvement by week 38 induction at week 40 going to be v likely.

Currently have my wrist strapped up so typing not v easy, so updating stats and will be back for better update when can type more easily.

Evening all.

Surf glad to hear you are ok!!

Mini sorry to hear you are itching and sick again...glad that it's not pre eclampsia!

McK how annoying about the student - what frustrates me is that the MW is supposed to be teaching her,not watching her do things the wrong way and then stressing the patient.

I don't judge anyone who seeks measures to acquire additional sleep Elly this morning DS jumped around the bed while DH and I both played coma parents... TDW we changed to a big boy bed earlier this year,so now DS just joins us keep them in a cot as long as you can

Gwennie some children's mother's Shock sorry she upset you Thanks

Hope all the insomnia/pain/heart burn subsides a little soon.

crackersncheese · 10/05/2012 18:47

Oh Kveta just a quick message to sympathize. I spent a whole night when DP was away last weekend in agony, convinced I was going into labour alone. Got an emergency appointment with the midwife and then an hour before 'discovered' it was trapped wind. How embarrassing.

CathFin · 10/05/2012 20:05

Gwennie - that's crap, shame your head of department is useless and didn't stick up for you.

I am the burp queen where wind is concerned, I keep telling the kids it will stop once I have had the baby but its pretty outrageous!

My DD thinks 6am is morning, DS is still night waking but goes back to sleep once I tuck him in - has been getting a bit later but I really hope he gets his head around sleeping through at some point. They both end up getting in bed with me in the morning and I normally manage to not actually get out of bed until at least 6.30am [is there no 'yawn' smiley]?

Kveta · 10/05/2012 21:19

oh god, sorry others have the trapped wind thing going on too. I have been writhing around all day, with some painful braxton hicks thrown in for good measure. Just spoke to my mum, and was whinging at her, and she said 'don't expect it to go away after baby arrives!' and 'try having 4 children', so I think she is trying to tell me that babies mess up your body for life. Yay.

And elly I'd judge you more if you didn't try to stave off getting up :o DS tends to wander into our room at 5/5.30, clutching all 3 of his toy dogs, as well as his duvet. Cute, but not at that time. He never was one for playing happily alone though - i'm Envy that your DS can entertain himself for an hour TDW!! And he was never one for sleeping in a cot either, sigh. he's been in his cot bed without the side since last August, and although he does sleep a wee bit better, he's no rip van winkel.

gwennie sounds like a hideous day at work - however, think how much longer you've got there! and when you go back, this family will have gone!

I am so sick of this weather now. I really wanted a summer baby this time, but it looks like, weather-wise, it'll be another autumn one. Grr. Just a few days of nice weather to dry out the garden would be lovely.

right, DH is tutting and sighing in the kitchen, because after me making dinner, and bathing DS, apparently doing the washing up should be a shared task Hmm. I may have to swan in, get myself a drink, and swan back out again, but will probably end up doing the drying. I wish we had a dishwasher at the moment...

thedogwalker · 10/05/2012 22:20

Gwennie sorry to hear you've had such a bad day, if her child was so good, why did the Mother have to say a comment about going through the stress AGAIN. Big give away in my book, that the child has been up to no good before. Poor you, hope things improve now that the child is leaving.
FFnorm I plan on keeping DS1 in his cot for as long as possible, I dread the day he starts to try and climb out, I love the fact that he can play in his cot for an hour quite happily and I can doze knowing that he is safe, but I know those days are numbered.
Kveta we should start a stop the rain pettition and tell it to go away as I want some sunshine too. I long to sit out in the garden, reading a good book and soaking up some rays. It doesn't have to be scorching, just nice will do. Is it too much to ask????
Well that's me for the day, I'm shattered. I'm off to my DM's tomorrow, so will be off line for a few days, at least DM is coming back to mine with me on Monday, so gives me peace of mind that care for DS1 is covered when I do go into hospital, just wish I disn't have the 5 hour drive to Yorkshire to collect her.
Hope everyone has a good weekend, take care xx

Hello all, havent been on for ages. Im not gonna be able to keep up with what everyones been doing! Very sorry to hear about Greengoose, Ican even comprehend how she must be feeling - my heart goes out to you Greengoose.
Surprised that some of you are still working, hats off to you - I find it ahrd enough getting through a day at home! I've been sitting here surfing the internet with a "funny feeling" in my lower stomach and took a while to sink in that they are contractions, not regular though so prob just braxton hicks - if only the real thing was this painfree and unnoticeable lol
