Yay on the scan pample. Not so yay on the ovarian cyst. My sis has some and is plagued with pains in her side that they won't touch as she hasn't had kids and they want to see if they can make them go by other means that won't affect her fertility first.

Loup my skin is terrible too. I can't believe how red, blotchy and spotty my face has got and the rest of me is soo dry.

I have decided that shopping for some maternity trousers is an absolute must this weekend. Cleared out most of my wardrobe that is starting to feel tight and I have never seen my closet and drawers look so empty. Can't believe the rate I am expanding at. With ds I didn't have to go into maternity trousers until 6 months and even then they were a bit loose. Looks like this time I won't be so lucky to escape with no stretch marks :(

lurkingmurking · 09/03/2012 16:51

Yet pample on the scan!!

kazar I'm so excited that we have some twins!

My scan was fab today - all measured perfectly and baby was having a good wriggle. Just bought some teeny babygros from Next so exciting!

funchum8am · 09/03/2012 19:03

Happy scan news pamplemousse - we are due date buddies (unless mine moves on Weds when I have my scan!)

Had to go and tell the teacher who writes the timetable for next year today else I would have messed things up big time for school - he was lovely and it turns out we don't need to get supply in to cover me so I am not costing the school anything in terms of supply by going on ML. Weird but due to various hiring cockups staffing developments we are overstaffed in my area, so I am actually doing them a favour! (or are they just telling me I'm unnecessary?!)

Dying to a) need maternity clothes b) have my scan c) feel the baby moving so I know I'm really pregnant!!! It's lovely hearing all your news about developments and I can't wait to share some myself.

Rusulka · 09/03/2012 19:48

I'm really hoping to feel something soon, but my placenta's at the front, and I hear that makes it difficult... Sad

Got my letter through (2 and a half weeks after scan) and I am low risk at 1 in 7,800. Going to google the other stats as I haven't a clue what they mean.

Having got the letter we have now gone public with it, so it is nice to be able to look in the nursery section of DH's work without worrying about the gossip factory.

I still haven't got a date through for my 20 week scan. Presume the consultant will arrange something when I have my appt on 19/03? Don't really know.

MadMonkeys · 09/03/2012 20:42

Had a lovely scan today - one little bean, very wriggly! It feels a lot more real now.

rightontime · 09/03/2012 21:36

Congratulations on all the lovely scan news Grin Was starting to think we wouldn't get twins on the thread.

All of my scans and appointments apart from the initial scan have to be booked ourselves in my area. I already have my 16week and 20week one booked and one booked at the specialist unit for 24weeks.

I get a 16 week one because one of DH brothers was born with potters syndrome and so they like to check for that at 16weeks. Following that I need to have a scan every 4 weeks due to what happened last time. Nice to be scanned so often but expensive if we have to pay £5 per picture every time!

I have definitely felt movements today. Feels like a very wiggly baby in there. I have been wondering if I have felt movements before now but they have not been strong enough for me to say for certain until today. 15weeks tomorrow. Gosh time flies. I don't feel ready to be 15weeks yet. Confused

oikopolis · 09/03/2012 22:15

really happy with everyone's lovely news!!
esp you pample, you've been on my mind!

i'm 12 weeks tomorrow based on LMP, but a little behind that I think... probably 11+4 or 11+5... still... feels impossible! BFP is like yesterday to me.

Bakeroo · 09/03/2012 22:59

Great news Poppyjen that must be so reassuring. I'll be 16 weeks at my next midwife appointment so hopefully they'll try and we'll hear something!
Congratulations on scans...lovely to hear good news and it's very exciting to hear we have some twins!
I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and my tummy has really started to pop and I'm loving it! My DH keeping looking at it and saying 'wow, it's getting big' I think it must be funny to watch us grow! I can't wait to feel baby move but I'm not expecting it til 20 weeks just so I don't get disappointed/worried by expecting it before. I have much more energy in the day and a little more in the evening so am feeling more human these days.
Have a lovely weekend all...

Macaroons · 10/03/2012 08:34

for those thinking of getting a doppler, I got a Sonoline B Fetal Heart Monitor from Amazon. I got it when I was around 11 weeks and could hear heartbeat of 140+ BPM. Pleased to say I'm not addicted, I only use it once a fortnight! It's reassuring between appointments when I can't feel movement yet!

Thali34 · 10/03/2012 10:32

Re appointments, I'm in London, and My GP recommended me to the hospital who then wrote to me with my first two appointments (booking in and first scan). However, I have to book the rest of my appointments at the reception when I'm there (or can phone) and the dates depend on dating results of first scan. They try to keep me informed at each Appt what I need to do, but it gets confusing! If in doubt, I'd say safest to phone!!

Great to hear more lovely scan results, and lovely to have our twins! :)

Feeling less tired and more myself, but awful spotty dry skin still!!

Have a great weekend everyone!! I bought my first new bras yesterday and am doing a spot more shopping today for some basics that give me a bit more room!

ballroomblitz · 10/03/2012 21:26

I went shopping today too Thali but couldn't find any nice maternity trousers in a size 8 at the shopping centre so I'm going to have to go into town or order online. I hear you about the skin. Mine is the same. Really starting to bug me now, expecially with the prospect this could be it for the next 6 months :(

I felt ds at 18 weeks Ruskula as my placenta was at the front so it may not be as far away as some women feel something.

How lovely you are feeling movements rightontime and congrats on your scan madmonkeys

A little girl Macroons Grin? My community midwife swore the rate of the heartbeat defined a boy or girl in her experience. A girl quicker of 140+ and a boy being slower. Have to say it was accurate with ds but I wouldn't particularly put much credence in it myself. Still, a bit of fun.

MadMonkeys · 11/03/2012 09:27

Trying to find suitable clothes is a nightmare, isn't it ballroom, although finding a size 8 certainly isn't my problem! I find this bit annoying - I'm too big for my normal trousers, the next size up just isn't the right shape, but proper maternity clothes keep falling down. Probably not for too long though, as I'm bigger already than I was at this stage with DD.

We told everyone the news yesterday. As I thought, some people had guessed but had been too polite to say anything. So today I can look as fat and pregnant as I like, and not have to keep making excuses for not chain drinking tea like I normally would!

I felt DD at about 18 weeks. My mw said 18 - 19 weeks is about average with a first child, 16 - 17 weeks with a second, or maybe 14 weeks but that would be early. So you guys who can feel it already are doing well.

I read about nub theory (google it) - a way of possibly determining the sex from a 12 week scan - and reckon my LO may well be a girl... Anyone elsehad a shot at that?

Whatevertheweather · 11/03/2012 11:50

Hadn't heard of that Madmonkeys had a quick look, if it's true i'm also having a girl Smile Will have a look at dd1 and 2's scan photos later and see if there's a nub!

ballroomblitz · 11/03/2012 13:34

Is that the one with the degree of angle Madmonkeys? I still wouldn't have a clue. With ds his 12wk scan shows him sleeping with his legs crossed and his arms behind his head. This lo would hardly co-operate so the sonographer could get a crown to rump measurement.

MadMonkeys · 11/03/2012 18:11

Yes ballroom that's the one. I hadn't thought to check DD's scan pics, will have to do that. I'm not bothered either way but it's fun to speculate. My LO was incredibly wriggly during the scan, I thought the sonographer ws never going to get a clear pic for us, but she was really good and kept trying til she got one.

lurkingmurking · 11/03/2012 19:10

So excited that I am telling everyone at work tomorrow so I can finally let it all hang out!!

Thali34 · 12/03/2012 12:42

I must say I was very disappointed with the selection of maternity clothes! Tho am also at horrid in between stage where normal clothes are too tight, and maternity clothes too big. I think dresses are the answer! The selection was so small in gap, h&m and debenhams, And all wrong colours for me...nothing at all in m&s, and they all told me Id have to order online which isn't very satisfactory. Have got one or two items off eBay, and an offer of clothes from a friend, so hope I'll get there eventually. Am already bored of my extremely limited wardrobe! (in between weather hasn't helped!) Got a wedding to go to in April!!!!!!

As others say, it is such a relief to let it all hang out now!! ;)

MissCoffeeNWine · 12/03/2012 14:45

Happy enough in all my normal clothes, no sign of showing early here. Though I do have lots of nice skirts and dresses and leggings and stuff, so I can't see having to buy anything else, I have been OK with my current wardobe in my other pregnancies.. I used bump bands last time in the last couple of weeks when it was more comfy to have my jeans buttons undone, at least when I sat down, to save my modesty! But otherwise just had my normal stuff on. Have you had a look at bump bands Thali?

Thali34 · 12/03/2012 15:10

I have heard of them MissCoffee, but havent looked into them - thank you, I will certainly have a look! It just feels unthinkable to fit into any of my jeans or denim skirt with or without help... Had to ditch them a while back!

ladygagoo · 12/03/2012 16:03

I have been in maternity jeans for nearly a month now - am I the only one?
In fact, two weeks ago I sorted all my clothes out and put everything away that doesn't fit. I did a big on-line shop for maternity stuff that was on sale and am in most of it now.
I don't think I have a huge bump for 14 weeks but probably the combination of my huge boobs and bump meant there was no way I can stay in my regular stuff. I'm on my third set of new bras as well Blush

If anyone comes across any nice maternity skinny jeans - let me know, I've tried the next and new look ones and the legs are really baggy - they look like denim joggers.... :)

lurkingmurking · 12/03/2012 16:03

There is no way I can stay in my normal clothes either Thali I am bursting out of my jeans and denim skirt and found the bump bands a PITA in that they kept rolling either up or down Grin though I am a bit of a chubber!

Dresses are the way to go - I've got some lovely stuff from ebay including a BNWT mamas and papas dress for £6 which is gorgeous! My maternity jeans are ridiculously massive atm but ok with a belt.

Macaroons · 12/03/2012 16:06

Thali i have a few weddings to go to this year too and I was looking at dresses on crave maternity. They look quite smart so i bought one! There's 15% off in march if you spend over a certain amount and if you buy through topcashback there's another 15% cash back! So all in all it's like 30% off quoted price! Worth having a look! Apart from smart dresses they have other casual bits and bobs too. Worth checking out!

Another website I've been using is asos. Bought some work dresses there.

Re boy / girl I did try to dig out the 12 week scan photo to see if I could work out the angle, and I cant LOL! Will have to wait till end of April then. Feels like a long way to go!

Macaroons · 12/03/2012 16:10

ladygagoo my usual stuff don't fit anymore, I had to pick the dresses / tops that are loose around the tummy area and no way I could fit into my old jeans. I bought a pair of preggie jeans from asos, they are a bit loose right now, I think the leg bits look skinny!

How much weight have you gained so far? A week or so ago I thought I gained 8 pounds, weighed myself over weekend and I somehow lost 3 pounds. I would be over the moon if there isn't a little one in there, but now I don't expect a weight loss!

Am catching a cough and sore throat, as abit of headache too :( any natural remedies you recommend? Thanks

MissCoffeeNWine · 12/03/2012 16:36

I found the bump bands really good, and they only cost £8 for 2 in George. I used them after birth as well so I don't need to show my belly when I'm feeding. They go all the way from just under the boobs to crotch level, nice and snug on me, I don't remember any rolling issues. I'd better check I've still got mine actually. I love dresses and have lots of them, nearly all of them would be fine with a bump I think. I have some tight stretchy form fitting types and some flowy ones I wear with a belt. Some wrap style and some maxi-type. Some are more fitted shift style so wouldn't fit a late-stage bump but should work up the last couple of months. Not so sure on skirts, I've more fitted types of those, but reckon most will fit under the bump or with a bump band when I'm big later.

FWIW I feel huge in comparison to my other pregnancies, I'm only 14 weeks so there's nothing to see but I feel cumbersome by the end of the day, and quite self conscious that people might be able to tell, the thought horrifies me so I'm really not looking forward to when it's unmistakeable. I feel like I did at about 24 weeks with my DD, kind of barrel-bodied and thick waisted in that pre-bump stage. It's quite horrible actually.

oikopolis · 12/03/2012 16:54

ladygagoo i gave up on my normal jeans a month ago too... you are not alone!

am in dresses/tunics + leggings, and a few pairs of trousers with top button undone + longish layering tops. and i've got one pair of mat jeans, which are lovely.

...so lucky though, my dear friend who's a larger size than me has lent me a truckload of her tunics and tops, and one pair of larger skinnies, so i might be able to make it through the next three or so months without buying anything more.
