farfallarocks · 22/03/2012 11:49

too she is so so gorgeous!!!!!

Brooking for dream today as well and a nice bouncing twin 2

McPopcornMouseNFries · 22/03/2012 12:03

She's lovely too :)

Does anyone know if the booking in wee sample is tested for UTIs? I've been ridiculously thirsty for the past 3-4 days - I must have drank litres and litres yesterday and I still have yellow wee, and today I have stabby mid-back pain; am now mentalling that I have a kidney infection WWBD? (What Would Brookers Do?) :o

NinjaChipmunk · 22/03/2012 12:43

aw too she's scrummy. And well done for being discharged from the mw and the jaundice getting better.
pop loving the name change! RE the wee sample, I'm not sure, could you call the mw and ask? I think they check for proteins in it? If not can you get to the docs with a sample?
dream good luck for today. RE the house valuation it went well and we are looking at getting £20K more than we paid for it which is good. We've put in a new kitchen and bathroom and decorated some other bits so I gues about £10 profit? Now all we need to do is find somewhere we can afford that is big enough!
Hope everyone else is well? x

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 13:18

Too Maia is gorgeous - lovely lovely pic Smile

Ninja - awesome news on the house valuation - good luck with the house hunting. We ended up selling our house for £2k less than we bought it for after spending about £20k doing it up SadConfused. Stupid property market Angry

Pop no idea re the urine test but worth calling and asking? If you're at the docs anyway to see the mw would they let you just drop off a sample for the doctor? Don't really know how testing etc for UTIs works as I've never bad one.

Scarlet - hope you're doing ok my lovely and the workmen are doing their very utmost to get out of your hair (and house obv)

Dream how are those twins doing? Hope the BH have eased off....

So, what should I put as my occupation on Ethan's birth certificate? I'm not sure what to describe myself as Confused Professional TV addict? Hmm

I'm just watching last night's apprentice - if forgotten how much I love Nick's facial expressions Grin

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 22/03/2012 14:16

Popcorn, they'll test your wee for all sorts of things and there are a couple which indicate UTI - leucocytes and something else. So yes, the MW will be able to tell you if you've got a UTI, especially in combination with your symptoms.

Biscuits, we need to register Maia's birth too. Sudden realisation that it's already day 14 and we only have 21 days to do it in. Might put 'Daisy the human cow' on mine. Surely feeding for nearly 2 hours at a stretch isn't normal? (She's only done that once, but it was between 11pm and 1am last night and I just wanted her to give up and go to sleep!)

Dream, when is the scan? Hope all is well and Twin 2 nice and big and wriggly.

McPopcornMouseNFries · 22/03/2012 14:41

Excellent, thanks too - I won't march to the MW then, as I only handed my booking in sample in Tuesday anyway and I'm pretty sure I'm just being neurotic :)

What happens if you don't register within 21 days? Confused

Imps7 · 22/03/2012 14:59

Aah I know the answer to this one Pops - if you don't register within 21 days, your baby will automatically be registered with the name Pompom Dolores (if it's a girl) or Bumfluff Brian (if it's a boy).

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 15:09

Ah well that saves me a job then since that was the name we were going for anyway Smile

McPopcornMouseNFries · 22/03/2012 15:18

:o :o we call our cat Bumfluff!

Imps7 · 22/03/2012 15:21

We call one of our rabbits Bunfluff (but she's a girl, not a boy).

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 15:49

Do you really only have 21 days Too? We get 42 I think?

McPopcornMouseNFries · 22/03/2012 15:59

:o Imps

Ok, another random question (sorry!) - would you consider flying with a 7-8 month old, or would that be a ridiculous idea? Blush

jenfraggle · 22/03/2012 16:03

Maia is gorgeous Too

Well I'm 31 weeks now and still no appetite. So far today I've eaten a bowl of All Bran and a caramel egg. Had MW appointment on Tues and have finally been measured, 32cm. Got my GTT results back as well and all is well there so no more needles! Spud is still head down, has been every time so far so looks like it knows what to do.

Looking forward to Dream letting us know how well things went today as we have all been brooking hard

jenfraggle · 22/03/2012 16:07

Pop I guess it would depend on how long the flight was and the general temperament of the child.

jaggythistle · 22/03/2012 16:25

21 days in Scotland to register.

I am at work grumpy again with a wee person firmly wedged under my ribs and everything feeling a bit tight and heartburny. Hope I don't explode.

Lovely pic too :)

Sounds liek a bit of evning cluster feeding - DS used to do his a bit earlier in the evening though! Normally all good for supply, if a bit tiring!

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 16:35

Lady in the post office today: 'Ah, a tiny baby, It's like a little doll'.

Me: yes, he's 2 weeks old today

Her: what is it?

pommedechocolat · 22/03/2012 16:43

With dd1 every feed was two hours long too so it is possible.

Dd1 a nightmare and dd2 all fussy and snacky feeds. Going to have to get dh home early which feels like I'm totally rubbish at this two thing Sad

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 22/03/2012 16:46

Ooooo finally a question I can actually help with! Too, Biscuits is absolutely right, you have 42 days to register the birth of a child. This is straight from DH who is a Registrar. So if you're only on day 14 you have oodles of time!

Popcorn I hope it's not too crazy to fly with a young baby, DH and I are planning a month-long road trip around California when our baby is 5-6 months old! I'm just really keen to use at least part of my mat leave to do a bit of travelling, and all the Mums with babies we know strongly recommended travelling before 6 months rather than at 1 year which was our original intention. Their point was that if you are still exclusively breastfeeding at 5 months, and you haven't started weaning, that makes it MUCH easier to travel with a baby. Plus there is the huge benefit that at 5 months when you put them down they stay in one place! Once they start to crawl/walk we've been told it's much harder to travel. I'm not sure about the flight specifically, but our plan is to break up the long flight to California by spending a couple of nights with relatives in New York. Sorry I can't give any real firsthand advice tho, as this is our first!

No Brooking that we'll hear some good news from Dream soon!

All this talk of house values has made me a little nervous, especially as Ninja isn't too far from where we live! Our house is a little cottage which is part of a terrace of 5 fairly identical cottages. At the end of last year the cottage two doors down from us sold for approximately £150k more than we bought our house for in 2008. House prices have been generally very strong locally, so DH and I have been kind of counting on that extra £150k when we need to move to a bigger house in a year's time. We bought our house for a good price when the market dipped slightly in 2008 (there wasn't a huge fall in house prices around here even when the housing market tanked nationally) plus we've made about £10k - £15k worth of improvements, so we had expected a healthy profit even before our neighbour's house sold. Now I want to get a house valuation just to be sure! Although DH and I swore we wouldn't get a valuation until we actually want to move because all valuations are so subjective anyway. If we don't get the price increase we're expecting we are officially screwed and will definitely have to move out of this area :(

Hee hee loving Biscuits' conv at the post office! Some people...! I'm expecting to get a few comments like that if we do name our LO Autumn as planned, but to say that to a lovely traditional name like Ethan!?! Crazy lady.

So far my Nan, on hearing our current choice of name has said: ".......... Oh. Okay.......... That's unusual." and swiftly changed the subject!

OP posts:
fishcakefoxtrot · 22/03/2012 17:10

Scream it's definitely only 21 days in Scotland
I think you are just trying to get Maia renamed Pompom Dolores Grin
Have you told us this about your DH before? He must have heard some amazing names!

Dream hope all is going well.

Popcorn I think travelling at that point should be ok but it really does depend on the baby. how long would the flight be? I think if you really want to, you will manage. My aunt to and from Australia on her own with her two sons who were both under 2 at the time. I don't suppose it was fun but they all managed!

Smile at biscuits' experience in the post office. Little babies seem to bring out the crazy in some people.

Pomme I am on my own with only one and I have fed DD more chocolate based snacks than she normally gets in a month. I think getting your DH home early is entirely reasonable.

Jen can't believe you are 31 weeks! Good news on the GTT results. Creme eggs all round.

Too 2 hours sounds about right from my memory, although v annoying that it was at that time of night rather than the daytime. Maybe just gearing up for the 3 week growth spurt?

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 17:14

Maybe your Nan was in my post office Scream Confused

My in-laws said 'oh it's a lovely name, really nice' when they came to visit. My Mum said 'Is that a definite name then? Hmm. And still referred to him as 'Baby' the next day!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 22/03/2012 17:18

Oops! Sorry I didn't realise Too was in Scotland! It's definitely 42 days in England.

I'll have to ask DH about crazy names! Most of the stories he comes home with are strange things that people do at weddings...

OP posts:
jenfraggle · 22/03/2012 17:21

Fishcake creme eggs are minging. I have caramel eggs although I've still only had a bowl of All Bran and a caramel egg today and am not hungry

At this rate I'll be thinner after the birth than I was before I was pregnant! I've only put 6 1/4 lb on during pregnancy so far

Biscuitsandtea · 22/03/2012 17:22

Just reread my post, and it sounds like I'm saying your Nan is crazy Scream - for the avoidance of doubt, that is NOT what I meant! Blush

Pomme, DS has watched oh so much tv today, and treat snacks a-plenty have been consumed by both of us. DH has suggested he might get home in time tonight - errr yes dear, that would be nice!

I should mention that on the night I bathed them DH was supposed to be home - he did not escape unscathed for not even bothering to tell me of his tardiness until after 7!! I think we're all entitled to expect OHs to get their arses home and change a pooey nappy or deal with a stroppy toddler (whichever we're more fed up of at the time!)

I'm currently drinking lucozade to power me through until bedtime!

hawthers · 22/03/2012 17:22

I get all sorts of comments on Farley's name. Mil thinks it is very cool and she is uber trad and my DM is still a little hesitant when saying it.... Still I did know it might be an issue as my DM slagged off queried my DB's second daughter's name to us and it isn't unusual at all imo.
