Hello ladies! I can't wait to see how many No Brooking babies arrive during the course of this thread!! Do you realise we have now filled SEVEN threads (and that's just the graduates!) That's 7000 posts and counting!

Let's all get settled in for some serious No Brooking, we have a lot of painless sneeze births to get through over the next couple of weeks!

Scarlet my (limited non-medical professional) understanding from Dr Google mainly is that second time babies often don't move into a head down engaged position until very close to the actual birth, sometimes not even until labour has already started. For that reason would you really have to accept an ECV this early to avoid a cs before your due date? I would have thought that you could refuse both the ECV and the cs at this stage and still wait to go into labour naturally, hoping that the baby moves position on its own by then. When you are in labour the first thing the mw will do is check the position of the baby on the day, and if the baby is still transverse at THAT stage you might have to choose between a ECV or a cs, but at least it won't be any earlier than if the baby had been head down - you would still deliver on the day you naturally went into labour. Alternatively if you do want the planned cs but you're worried about the delivery date being too soon you could insist on a later date (week 40 instead of week 39 for example?)

Apologies if I'm missing the point, I just don't want you to feel backed into a corner! Have a good look into your options before your appt and don't let them pressure you into doing anything you don't want to! I can't emphasise enough the importance of knowing all your options BEFORE you speak to the docs, because they will only tell you about the options they want you to accept, they won't tell you everything!

Too the rib kicking continues unabated! Looking forward to getting this cs booked in! How is little Maia doing? How is your recovery going?

hi

Why do I have no time for mn anymore?!

scarlet, you poor thing, Count the days. Cleaner = £10/hour= surely got to be worth at least a mornings worth to do the worst bit?? - unless your DH is miles more competant than mine?! Rope in the parents/in-laws to help with DS. It's time for these measures my lovely. My mum is taking monday off work to help me as i'm struggling so much... I had a wonderful massage the other day- my work leaving pressie from my colleagues. I recommend that- an hours full peace and relaxation!
scream, lol at 'BH have arrived'. Pain in the neck aren't they?! Mine come with inner thigh pain and period pain quite often now, and can be up to 3 in 10 min, but then ease off slightly. Doing my head in already, but 2 weeks today!

Appt for scan tomorrow. I have grown a lot, so I can't imagine this baby isn't. In fact, I think he's had a growth spurt from the shape of my bump (though he has also gone transverse to head down which might be part of it), so I'm surprisingly not at all worried any more. 14 days left, very unlikely to be less, travel cot delivered today so all ok anyway and 36 weeks tomorrow. It's just the last slog now Grin

DreamingOfPeace · 21/03/2012 13:31

and where's fishcake? she's having her baby in 13 days!!! or could baby be here?! absenses at this stage are a possible delivery in my eyes Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/03/2012 14:07

Goodness, is Fishcake already 38 weeks? Where did the time go?

Hooray, Maia has guzzled and guzzled and put back on most of her weight! She's now 6lb 1, so not far off her birth weight of 6lb 5, we have been discharged by the MW and handed over to the HV, we can stop doing 3 hour feeds and go back to demandish (not leaving her longer than 4 hours), and best of all, we can stop expressing and syringing! Unless we want to express so DH can feed her, which is a whole different ballgame and much more relaxed. Her jaundice is improved - the MW said she's much less yellow than she was on Thursday and it seems to be all systems go.

Scream, CS recovery is great. I still feel a little bruised across my tummy but I haven't taken any pain killers this week and it really is only a little. I think the stitches have dissolved and the scar seems fine. My tummy is definitely shrinking, too! I might be able to start wearing trousers other than massive soft joggers soon. I haven't tried any exercise yet, but am going to start trying to go for 20/25 minute walks every day and see how I feel. Things that involve bending/twisting like getting in and out of the bath are also much easier now.

Dream, you sound much calmer, my lovely. 36 weeks tomorrow is brilliant! Brooking for an excellent scan for you.

DreamingOfPeace · 21/03/2012 14:17

fishcake is 36+2 I think with an ELCS on 3rd April. I remember because she's so close to me!!

Good going Maia, and well done mummy!!! Seriously annoying they got you so worked up about everything when she's thriving :-) . Hope the boobage isn't too sore. Very impressed by your recovery as well. 6lb1, titchy and gorgeous I bet :-) any chance of a pic? bet my boys both bigger than that at their eviction at 37+6

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 18:00

Too - yay for some great weight gain there by your little lady Grin. And great news that the jaundice is on its way out and you needn't both so much with the alarm over night! And good news for being discharged by the MWs Smile

Hope everyone else is well - I've forgotten what else I've read Confused

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 18:16

So still alive after having them both all day (although haven't got to bedtime quite yet!). DH has just phoned to say he won't be home until after bedtime Sad. Still I berthed them both yesterday so won't be bothering with that bit tonight. I think it's gone ok although DS1 was a bit stroppy this morning and a PITA at the doctors this morning completely refusing to stand up in the middle of the reception resulting in me sort of dragging him out in front of everyone Blush

Other than that slight incident it's gone ok (so far)

pommedechocolat · 21/03/2012 19:19

biscuits - in that scenario I favour the toddler under the arm like a rolled carpet approach. Need to work out if I can still do that with two!!

jaggythistle · 21/03/2012 19:38

I just giggled to myself like a loon at work at the carpet thing pomme. Grin

I am so tired tonight I am going to be on the floor by 10pm. Might try to escape early to bed.

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 20:04

I have used the rolled up carpet manoeuvre to great effect in the past Pomme but DS1 is now nearly 3 stone and about 110cm tall Confused so a bit big for that Sad Especially with DS2 in his car seat in the other hand. Otherwise I would have done it.

Lucky for him the HV arrived when we got home so that saved him from a bit more of a dressing down!

Also Pomme, DS1 was lovely after pre-school until he almost fell asleep in his tea Hmm at which he turned into a sort of mega tired shell who seemed incapable of following the most basic instruction! Gah! Oh well, at least he's good at going to bed even if he's tired! Phew!

I think we've all done very well to get to the end of the day today!

hawthers · 21/03/2012 20:11

biscuits am doing the same tonight. Check back in later? Strength and honour

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 20:14

Go Hawthers - you can do it!!

I've got 'em both in bed and DH is on his way home. Am making him get chips because I'm too much of a lazy arse to cook. He said 'wow you must feel really proud of what you've done?' Errrrr, no, I feel knackered!!!

Wants3 · 21/03/2012 20:43

too ds1s onesie was a gift so not sure where it came from! Today he went dressed as a fireman, tomorrow he will be a cowboy! ( using items borrowed from my preschool dress up box)

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/03/2012 21:20

Ok, pic on my profile.

Oooh, I want chips, Biscuits! Bean keeps waking up whenever I'm about to eat. It's like she's programmed.

Grin at Wants.

DreamingOfPeace · 21/03/2012 21:31

Omg too she is absolutely perfect, totally gorgeous. You must be such a proud mummy! And yes, what's with the wake up when your food appears?! Why do they always do it?! I'm trying to make one handed meals ready :-) ignores fact two babies means no-handed meals will be needed

hawthers · 21/03/2012 21:31

Ha both bathed, fed and in bed in total peace. Beef bourginon (sp) cooked and eaten and a little Wine on the go. I def feel proud of myself!

Rxpresding, DH ironing then bed. Hmm think I might skip the ironing.

hawthers · 21/03/2012 21:33

God I've only had one sip I meant expressing

Biscuitsandtea · 21/03/2012 21:40

Blooming good effort Hawthers - tres impressive Grin

I didn't earn Wine because I didn't cook Grin

How's F doing? xx

hawthers · 21/03/2012 21:57

It's taken me 12 weeks to.get here though.

F is ok - it's a bit odd as he is so chilled usually but yesterday and today he has really kicked off for no reason and then calmed down again a couple of hours later.

He seems fine now though keeping me on my toes...

fishcakefoxtrot · 21/03/2012 22:35

Hello I am still here! Still pregnant. Increasingly grumpy. I also have a foot in my ribs and my bump now pretty much meets my boobs so god knows where my organs have gone.

Dream and her astonishing memory have got it right again- I am indeed 36 weeks (and 2 days)!

I am totally in awe of biscuits and hawthers solo efforts. And pomme the under-arm method of toddler wrangling is one of my favourites!

Scarlet I hope you have had a better day today. I'm sorry if I've missed it, but is there a reason why you are not sleeping or is it pregnancy insomnia? Have you talked to your midwife about it? I wonder if there is anything you could take even just to get a night's sleep. I honestly can't imagine how you are still going, you are clearly some sort of super-woman!

DH is away and I totally struggled with DD tonight. All of me hurts! Yesterday I think I overdid things and my back seized up- I looked like the old people in the road sign here except I was closer to a right angle! DH posted 2 ibuprofen into my mouth and put me in the bath and luckily this relaxed me enough to get upright again but I had visions of staying like that for the next fortnight! Unluckily DH googled ibuprofen after giving them to me and found they are a big no-no at this point in pregnancy. I spoke to the midwife today and she thought one dose would be fine, thank goodness!

I had an appointment today, a relaxing trip to daycare for BP monitoring, liquor and doppler scan and then consultant. Seems my blood pressure is still creeping up so I am back for more BP/CTG monitoring on Monday but it's so close to my delivery date anyway that i feel quite relaxed about it.

Too so glad to hear that Maia is packing the ounces back on- well done! I just looked at the photo- she is such a cutie Smile

dream I am looking forward to hearing your no-handed meal recipe solutions. Is it a growth scan you have tomorrow?

scarletfingernail · 21/03/2012 23:06

Too Maia is beautiful, you must be so proud. Fab re the weight gain.

Fishcake good to hear from you. Not long now then Smile

Hawthers and Biscuits sounds like you've got it sussed. I will be joining you on the Wine in a few weeks. I had 1 glass during my night out on Saturday and it went down far too well.

Thanks to those of you who have taken some time to think of some things that could help me. Fishcake it's pregnancy insomnia. I was exactly the same when expecting DS. I'm a light sleeper anyway and pregnancy seems to make it 10 times worse. I'd rather not start taking anything to help me sleep. As much as I'd like to be knocked out for a night or two I'm sure I'd keep myself awake worrying about the effects on the baby. I usually sleep between 1am and 4am, then wake up for the loo and can't get back to sleep. I've started coming downstairs or else I end up feeling murderous about DH's noisy mouth breathing.

dream DH is happy to do the clean up operation once all the work is finished. He'd rather do it himself than get anyone in (although he did give in and let me get someone in to clean the oven last week. Best £40 we've spent this year Blush) There's that much stuff we need to tidy and sort out as well as general cleaning it would be impossible for anyone else to come in and do a good job. I've saved my nectar points for the last couple of years and I'm going to buy a steam cleaner at the weekend. Oooh the excitement!

Unfortunately roping parents in to help isn't really an option. Mine work full time and although DH's have some free time they have a regular commitment to their other grandchild regarding childcare. Asking for a little bit of help would feel like asking for something massive as they already do so much for SIL. They probably would say yes, but it would make me feel as though I was asking a huge favour which I'm not really comfortable with.

Gah, now I realise I've just refused all of your suggestions and I sound like a martyr Grin. Thanks anyway though, the PIL thing isn't completely ruled out...

Scream I could kiss you! It wouldn't even have occured to me to ask to wait and see what position the baby is in at the start of labour and take it from there. Or even if a CS is necessary asking if it can be week 40 instead of 38 or 39. I'm going to write all of that down and make sure I ask on Friday.

I'll be back tomorrow with less of me me me I promise. Dream Good luck for the scan tomorrow.

hawthers · 21/03/2012 23:20

Balls just realised I've forgotten to put the bed guard on DS1's bed.... Really hope he doesn't fall out as can't go in and put it on as he might wake up!

ScreamIfYouWantToGoFaster · 21/03/2012 23:43

Too Maia is just yummy!! Absolutely gorgeous! You must be such a proud mama! I'm glad your recovery is going so well. How is everyone else recovering? I know Purple had a difficult first few days, and Biscuits how are the stitches? I hope Pomme is feeling recovered as well, and it's all just a distant memory for Hawthers!

Scarlet I'm so glad if anything I've suggested turns out to be useful. Do have a look online still, and speak to anyone medical (perhaps your mw?) who might be able to give more guidance/options before your appt as well! I'll be No Brooking for your LO to have turned head down by Fri anyway!

Dream best of luck for tomorrow's scan!! I'm sure both boys will be looking positively chubby!

Fishcake I hope your symptoms ease up a little as you go through your last few days / couple of weeks. Hoping the same for Dream as well! Perhaps it's a foot-in-ribs thing but my bump pretty much meets my boobs as well! My one consolation is that the sides of my waist look surprisingly unchanged from pre-pg. I'm carrying this bump all at the front, and very high. I can feel the baby's head way above my pelvis, which is my excuse for having the top of my bump jutting out like a high shelf just below my boobs! I agree with Fishcake that I have no idea where y organs have gone! With the exception of my stomach which I can always pinpoint due to the incessant heartburn!

I hope all us No Brookers get a good night's sleep tonight. I definitely share in the pg insomnia. Perhaps tonight will be better tho, for all preggos, mamas and babies!

Brooking for maia's scan and dream's scan.
