Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Micku5 · 14/03/2006 13:24

yes... rather embarassing actually. Ingrowing hair ahem down below that got infected and painful. When I was admitted they were going to take me to theatre to have it drained but thankfully it went on it's own by the morning.

I think I'll stick with waxing from now on less painful Grin

I do have to go to the EPU tomorrow to make sure the baby is ok.

Nbg · 14/03/2006 13:25
Grin

Glad your ok.

Eve2005 · 14/03/2006 13:33

o well, at least it wasn't preg related! Grinand you got a big cuddle from your cute little girl. will you be scanned tomorrow when you go in?

Micku5 · 14/03/2006 13:36

LOL.. My mum just couldn't stop laughing when I told her.

I hope they do. DD will be with us so it would be nice for her to see the little babba.

Eve2005 · 14/03/2006 13:44

i know, i'm bringing dd with me to scan next week so she can see. she's only 1 but she knows theres something there as she's seen and felt the kicks and she loves pointing to my tummy and saying be-be.

Micku5 · 14/03/2006 13:46

DD has seen the scan pic and every so often she asks to see the picture of mummy's stomach. Also in the last few weeks my tummy has definitely been getting rounder so there's no mistaking the bump.

Eve2005 · 14/03/2006 13:58

my dd is so obsessed with my huge wobbly tummy she's tried to pull my top up in the middle of the supermarket to say hi to 'be-be' Blush

on an unrelated topic, has everyone here told all their families already? we told dp's ages ago but i've been stalling on telling mine for a couple of reasons
a)i wanted to tell them in person, i'm not much of a phone person and as we only got our new car this week we haven't been able to go and visit yet.
b)my mom drove me so insane during my last preg that i wanted to avoid a month or two of it this time if poss.

am i the only one? we're heading up there on thursday and i'm going to have to tell them as soon as we walk in the door as i'm big enough that she'll notice within a few mins and wishing i'd had the balls to tell her on the phone now Blush

jayjaybaby · 14/03/2006 14:08

hi and thanks for the advice it has been happening agian the last two days and is making me feel very nausus and very moddy much to my dh disgust as i took it out him yesterday since this has been happening have been having huge sweet cravings mad or what
im sorry to hear about the house problems sciatica and in growing hairs
is the baby moving making any1 else feel sick as ive been quite lucky with not having any sickness at all yet its probably just natures way of redressing the balanceWink
got to go to job centre in abit for a nother grilling on why i havent been able to find a job oh the joy Angry

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 15:20

Is it worth going to an antenatal class. I have been having a bad time trying to get on an NCT class (phoned for a month and now 'oh we don't have an August class'?!).

Does the benefit actually outweigh the hell of trying to do business with these people?

Sheona · 14/03/2006 15:52

In very good mood, got blood results bak yesterday and I'm at low risk of everything!
I know it's not a get out of jail free card but all the same! Smile

BigHotMama · 14/03/2006 16:13

Hi everone hope your all well, I feel bad when I read about some of you with your sciatica as I've been ache/pain free so far and havent even had to cope with any sickness or anything! Feels too good to be true!
Had midwife app yesterday and everything is going really well, although I havent felt a kick (extra padding over ere too Arabica!) she told me the baby is a right 'wriggler' everytime she put the doppler on she kept losing the heartbeat because loads of movement.
Micku5 your dd pic is so sweet! God i cant wait to have this baby... Grin
Did anybody else have this thought on their first? Keep thinking our baby will grow into a toddler then into a young boy/girl then teenager - I just keep imagining they will be a baby forever lol.

Good news Sheona on your results
Noodle - I booked in for classes in June, couldnt you try an earlier month??

19+1 / +7lbs (mainly chocolate) Wink

Has anybody had their 20 week scan yet? (8 days and counting)

aprilgirl · 14/03/2006 16:24

totlly peed off with midwife they sent me oput a letter asking me to go back to the midwife today as it was important they see me, i got there in the snow freezing and when i got there they didnt have a clue why i was there. armed with this urgent letter they still had no idea why theyd sent for me, so what a wasted journey ( had to take tiem of work n everything ) what a bad mood this has put me in ive worried myself stupid since friday scared that something was wrong, surely more care should be taken over things like this they of all people know how much mums to be's worry?

sorry rant over im just mad Angry

aprilgirl · 14/03/2006 16:26

aslo any one else really itchy... brought this up ewit 'stupid midwife' and all she could say was " well you are pregnant" i literally could tear the skin off my legs they itch that much.... miracle cures needed ???

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 16:32

aprilgirl: how extremely stressful your experience seems - poor you! What were they thinking? Gosh :-(

BigHotMama: Thanks for your reply - and great name! They are now booked for July they say although I did contact them ages ago. They seemed to have switched staff in Feb. and lost track of people. They should make a website or other efficient system as it must be annoying for them as well.

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 16:34

aprilgirl: this may be helpful?

www.babycenter.com/refcap/pregnancy/prenatalhealth/9450.html

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 16:37

BigHotMama: about the 20 week scan, no mine is April 11th. I am quite anxious about it. I wish it could be done sooner..

aprilgirl · 14/03/2006 16:38

thanks noodlekitkat will check that out now!!!
im kinda feelig funny sensations in my belly not sure if its kicks just yet though??? 18+1? cant wait for dp to feel them too!!

BigHotMama · 14/03/2006 16:53

Noodle is it your first? I just want to know everything is developing well as I didnt have any of the tests done for downs/spina and am knocking on for 30 next month. Also gagging to see our little baby as the 20 week scans look a lot more bigger and clearer! Glad to hear your booked in for your classes now.
Aprilgirl, cant believe they sent you that letter and got you all worried! How shite!
Oh and I'm feeling pulsating movements but not still not sure if its a kick, mind you my mom said: you dont 'think' you felt a kick you 'know'!

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 17:05

BHM: It is my first pregnancy and I am 40. I had an OSCAR scan which went well but find all the uncertainty of pregnancy quite stressful. With each week the baby becomes more real so I feel less strong about accepting bad news. I assume that if I was younger and had other children that I would be more resilient in these matters.

Re: classes, no sorry they are now full excluding me for June and July. What do they do in the classes exactly?

Act · 14/03/2006 17:34

noodle - where I am there are antenatal classes at the hospital, (run by the NHS, so free I assume) they are called 'preparation for parenthood'. They tell you not to book until you are 20 weeks.
I think the NCT classes are a private version of this- they might be a bit more detailed. In general they cover preparation for labour and caring for your baby.

Where are you having your baby? hopefully you could find an alternative class this way.

I want to go to them as it's my first, I will get to see the hospital (includes tour), might meet other parents to be local to me, and also so my husband knows what to expect as he hasn't shown as much interest in reading books/websites as I have!

Nbg · 14/03/2006 17:36

Noodle, your MW's will no doubt be holding some classes nearer your due date.

In my first pg, I didn't have to put my name down till later as the classes weren't that popular but this time I have been told to get them down before I was 15 weeks.

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 17:37

Thanks ACT, yes I think the local hospital would do some, good point. And free...

noodlekitkat · 14/03/2006 17:39

Nbg, yes they may fill up also... Will phone tomorrow.

purpleturtle · 14/03/2006 18:36

Ruthlouise - the back pain you describe sounds like my sacro-iliac problem. I find that my leg often gives way on stairs - must be something to do with that particular hip movement, I think. I wear a support belt, which helps. i lie in bed on my right side and dangle my left leg over the edge of the bed to stretch it out (my left side causes the problems). I have been referred to the physio today so hopefully an appointment will come through in a few weeks time. THey'll tell me how terrible my posture is, and to dangle my leg off the bed. Grin

Baby played hide and seek with the MW this morning. Prompting derogatory comments about 3rd children (from me) and 'It'll be a boy' (from the MW)! Once heartbeat was found all was well. Smile

Good Evening all, just popped on to mn quickly to say hello as Ive not been on for a few days (back at work now :( )

There is so much to catch up on. Welcome to the newbies. Ive been a bit worried about my lack of movements - I seemed to notice them more 2/3 weeks ago. Im 18 weeks today.

Hope all is well you all.
