Sounds good Bun Maybe you should go for a quick jog around the block to get things moving quicker? WinkGrin

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 15:48

Hang in there bun! C'mon pirtate! Grin

Kayzr · 19/01/2012 16:32

Can I just run my birth ideas past you so I can get some opinions please?

DP is due home the day after I am due. We always knew there was a chance that he would be away and its a bit sad but we're fine with it. DS1 was 2 days late and DS2 was born on his due date. So if they are following a pattern this one will be 2 days early Grin

I would really like this one at home, I had DS2 at home and it was brilliant. But I am thinking that there will be the 2 boys at home. Hopefully in bed asleep or DS1 will at school and its just DS2 to worry about. I am not sure about birth partners yet. Probably be my Mum or my best friend. It does feel a bit weird thinking it will be one of them.

The other option is the new midwife led unit nearby. I say nearby but its about 30 minutes away. An hour at rush hour. I am tempted as I don't think I will be worrying about the boys as they will be with their Dad or my dad etc Also they have birth pools and I would love to have a water birth. They say that they aim to get people home between 2-6 hours after birth which would be lovely. But there is the problem that it is at the hospital where I had DS1 and I have said that unless I was about to die I never wanted to set foot in there again as a patient. But I suppose it isn't the same ward. Its next to it but its not the same IYSWIM

If I knew DP would definetly be at home there is no way I would even be considering going to the MLU and I would be having this one at home. But there is no guarentee that he will be here. But its that thought the boys will be here and I will be worrying about them. DS1's best friends Mum has said that if I need her even in the middle of the night then I can just ring her.

So what on earth do I do??

MammaInTheMaking · 19/01/2012 17:02

Baby perfect and wiggling like a trooper!

Kayzr · 19/01/2012 17:07

Grin Thats fantastic Mamma

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 17:14

Just a quick update: contractions are finally picking up again now. So much for nice quick 2nd labours!

Kayzr · 19/01/2012 17:29

Yay Bun I hope this is it

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 17:57

Congratulations mamma! I couldn't be happier for you, fantastic news! Grin
Yay bun, go bun, go pirate, go bun, go pirate [circles closed hand jerry springer stylee] Grin
kayzr what a dilemma. If it was me I would ask my dad or friend's mum to take the boys when you go in to labour and have her(?) at home. Any chance your budget could stretch to a birthing pool so you could have a home water birth (deal clencher?) either way, that's what you will do if DP gets home in time and that's what you want most and feel most at ease with so it's time to call in some favours and put yourself first! Grin

trope · 19/01/2012 18:42

oh my god! how much have I missed??? Wow! What an action packed few days!

Can't properly catch up/post now - but just wanted to say:

ghost HUGE congratulations! So happy for you! Hope you're having a lovely time snuggling with your daughter and your BP is staying nice and low! Grin Will you post some photos so we can coo and be broody over her? Wink

bun OH MY GOD!! Excitement! Sending you wishes for a speedy and easy labour with piratebaby! Hoping for an exciting baby related update soon!!!

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 18:57

There you are! Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 19:20

Hi Trope! Wasn't sure if I should text or not! How are you doing?

CX very strong (loving the breaks in between) and 8 mins apart. Sitting down had been slowing everything down but not any more thankfully Smile

Davinaaddict · 19/01/2012 19:20

Come on Pirate! Smile

Great news Mamma

That's a tough one Kayzr. As I'm a bit of a geek, I'd probably try thinking about it logically. I'm just trying to catch up on all my housework before my sister visits tomorrow but will be back later to answer better.

trope · 19/01/2012 20:20

hello hello! Yes I am here! A bit briefly though - might be going away tomorrow (possible last minute trip to visit my sister oop north) so can't properly catch up right now! Confused Everything is OK though - just had a really busy time recently; DP and I had our anniversary (14 years!!!!!) I've been helping my dad out with some work/house selling stuff, we've actually made some progress with fuzzy's room (at last!) plus a million other things, which combined with a massive lack of sleep (a certain small fuzzy individual who shall remain nameless has discovered the joys of kicking very very hard, all. night. long.) has left me spending my limited free time zonked out on the sofa unable to think / focus on doing anything more taxing that staring at the television/into space/napping! Can't believe just how much I've missed! Will properly catch up/update next week (or on the weekend if we don't go away!)

Still, I am here in time for bun's live labour thread!! Wink so that's good!! Grin Am so excited for you!! Grin If you could be so kind as to have piratebaby before I need to leave tomorrow for my sister's that would be very much appreciated. Nice photos too please! Wink Otherwise I shall have to make DP do all the driving tomorrow so I can be on my phone checking the thread for updates!! Wink GrinGrinGrin

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 20:51

I'll do my best Trope! Grin

On my way to hospital! CX every 3-5 mins

trope · 19/01/2012 21:41

oooh!! fingers crossed!!! Hope you get to meet pirate baby soon!! Grin

ghosteditor · 19/01/2012 22:19

Carlitawantsababy · 20/01/2012 00:02

Kayzr · 20/01/2012 07:34

Ghost Juliet is beautiful! I hope your BP sorts out soon so you can go home.

I wonder if there is a baby Bun Grin

Davinaaddict · 20/01/2012 08:32

No Pirate news yet?? Hope your enjoying lovely snugly Pirate cuddles Bun

Gorgeous name ghost Did you decide on a middle name for her? Feeling a bit Envy of you having lovely snuggles when I've still got 7 weeks to go! Any news on when they are letting you out yet?

Sorry Kayzr this will no doubt be a lot bit long knowing me, but hope it helps Grin. So hopefully I'm reading this right (apologies if I get anything wrong!), but it sounds like you have a couple of things to think about. One being birth partner - DP or someone else if he's not back on time, and two being your birth plan. So taking your birth plan first, you have 3 options:

  1. home birth. Preferred option, ideally with a water birth which I see Carlita already suggested Smile (if you can stretch to it). Pros - great experience last time, less stress etc (too many to list them all!). Cons - likely childcare required, may not be able to have water birth. Also, sounds like pain relief isn't a problem for you if you had your last DC at home, but possibly another thing to consider. Possible solutions - DS's go to their Dad's, or if middle of night/Dad unable to help etc, then your Dad to support (could work especially well if your Mum is your birth parter, on the proviso that your mum & dad are together of course. Mine aren't & live 200 miles apart, so that wouldn't work for me!). If no water birth possible, maybe borrow a paddling pool? Wink Grin. I don't think there's a solution to this one, so it might just come down to whatever your stronger preference is.
  2. MWLU at the hospital. 2nd preference due to the option of water birth. Pros - option of water birth if pool available, less likely to worry about the boys, won't need transfer of 30mins + should there be a need (God forbid it)(also suppose this should be added as a con to HB option), more pain relief options. Cons - definite childcare to sort out, may not be able to have water birth if they are already in use, transport to consider when in labour, they may not be able to accommodate if they are really busy, so may move you to the labour ward anyway, if it's in the same place.
  3. labour ward - sounds like this isn't even an option!
So upshot is - you'll need child care to arrange anyway, even if you don't need it on the actual day (and you might be worrying about the boys wherever you & they are, although probably less so if they are not in the house). You'll need to plan your back up birth partner, which you may be able to sort at the same time as child care (mum & dad?). But from my somewhat sleep deprived and hormonally confused brain, personally I would go for the home birth option Smile Really hope you find my geeky ramblings thinking useful - Good luck! Grin
Davinaaddict · 20/01/2012 08:32

Gosh, that was long! Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 20/01/2012 10:02

Grin davina, yes, pretty much my though process too!
Really hope we hear from bun soon! I even checked at 2 am when I woke for a wee! Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 20/01/2012 10:03

Thought process, obvs.

Kayzr · 20/01/2012 10:10

Thanks Davina My parents arent together. My Dad lives about 150 miles away but is going to be here for a week around my due date and staying in a B&B. He did that last time too and took DS1 out for the day and then dropped him at my Mums.

I think it will be the homebirth that I go for. I'm not sure about having a water birth here as I'm not that sure if the pool will fit in the front room. But I will have a look at them.
