I just got a black one in hopes that DH will wear it too but I found her videos of how to wear it very helpful. Smile

Davinaaddict · 18/01/2012 05:28

Just checking in as had to change DS and have the obligatory wee Grin

Sorry for the silence, ladies, BUT:

Hi ladies!

I'm delighted to announce the birth of our beautiful daughter at 00.50 this morning! She arrived after a very speedy labour - had my first painful contraction at 4.30pm and went into the MW unit when cx were 1-2 mins apart at about 9pm. They only advised I came in because I was bleeding quite heavily, but on examination I was 8.5 dilated! I was still coping ok and immensely cheered by the news so I did the whole thing with TENS, massage, and breathing. Unfortunately at 10cms my BP became dangerously high and I had to leave the MW centre to go down to delivery, but I really didn't care by then! I'm being kept in for suspected PE but my BP is right down now so signs are good. A few stitches but otherwise an easy birth!

I'm overwhelmed and thrilled and enjoying serious snuggle time with my beautiful little girl! Smile

Kayzr · 18/01/2012 10:08

Ellie don't ask me about slings Grin I still haven't a clue what I'm getting!! It'll probably be a wrap sling but which one I don't know.

aBundanceOfTime · 18/01/2012 11:06

Yeeees! Congratulations Ghost!!!!! It sounds like a wonderful birth, glad to hear you and Babyghost (have you decided on a name yet?) are doing well.
I'm very Envy and Grin for you!

RE slings, I had the Baba sling with DS which was really good for a hammock style carrier. DS seemed really comfortable in it and it was easy to use although, you do need a second person to help adjust the straps so that it fits you, that's really fiddly but once it's done, it's done (until someone else wants to wear it).
I only wore it for short trips out though because it hurt my back and shoulder after a while because it's a one shoulder style sling.

Haven't tried the Moby wrap with a baby yet obviously, but I had a quick flick through the instructions when it arrived and managed to get it on first time with no problems, it was pretty straightforward in practice.

I was considering a ring sling too, have heard that they're easy to use and great for breastfeeding. But, the fact that they only go on on shoulder put me off because I want a sling I can wear for long periods of time.

Ellie that hungry caterpillar one is great! Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 18/01/2012 11:44

Ghostbaby is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ThanksThanksThanksThanks

elliebug · 18/01/2012 13:05

Wooo hello babyghost Grin
Thanks for sling advice, I shall continue putting silly bids on eBay in case no one else notices the item Smile

Kayzr · 18/01/2012 13:25

Bun I had the close baby carrier and it was good and its nice but I could only wear it for short amounts of time as it would make my shoulders really hurt.

ghosteditor · 18/01/2012 14:25

Thanks ladies Grin! We're doing well but I will be staying in for observation for at least 2 days due to my blood pressure. Baby does have a name but we're waiting to announce to parents first.

She came out with a hand beside her face, little monkey [ouch]!

Glad to hear you're both doing well - looking forward to the name! How much did she weigh? [nosy] Grin

elliebug · 18/01/2012 22:30

Ghost, I have just realised something very exciting, babyghost shares her birthday with my friend ( this isn't exciting) and the 18th jan is an advent calendars number of days from Christmas (I think this is exciting) Smile what a good excuse to have 2 advent calendars!Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 08:32

Haha love your research into the date ellie Grin

I'm in labour!! Woke up at 7 to find my waters had started leaking and then had my first contraction at 7:30. They're building very nicely, already strong enough to have to concentrate on, lasting about a minute, 7-8 mins apart. EEEEP!!!

Going to go for a shower and get some last minute bits together. Oh, and I need to call the MW too.

ghosteditor · 19/01/2012 08:43

MammaInTheMaking · 19/01/2012 09:38

Aaah can't take the excitement! Go for it Bun and minibun!

I've got my 20 week scan this afternoon. Super nervous Confused

Kayzr · 19/01/2012 09:42

Go BUN GrinGrin

Hope the scan goes well Mamma

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 10:39

OMG! It's a bit exciting around here! C'mon bun and pirate baby! Grin
Wow mamma that's so exciting, enjoy it! Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 11:04

Thanks everyone! Grin

Had shower and re-repacked hospital bags, cleaned shower (! Confused) and called the labour ward - MW said to go in when doubled over with minute long contractions that are 5mins apart like clockwork (she originally said every 4mins until I told her established labour with DS was 3hours Grin). They're getting pretty strong now, still about 7-8mins apart.

Good luck today mamma, hope you have a lovely time Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 11:37

Ooh! Exciting! I hope you have a nice quick labour again and glad that the MW listened to you! Grin is your DP with you? Smile

Davinaaddict · 19/01/2012 13:51

Oooh - go Bun!! Good luck Smile x

Good luck for the scan Mamma

I've been for my scan this morning and the good news is, no compulsory CS - yay! And no further scans required - boo! Although we didn't get to see much this time as baby is soooo big now Grin And the 2 hour wait in hospital wasn't much fun, when I'm supposed to be working, grrr.

Carlitawantsababy · 19/01/2012 13:56

Great news davina! Grin

aBundanceOfTime · 19/01/2012 14:29

Yay Davina! Smile

Carlita, yes he didn't go into work today.

Really shouldn't have had a bath earlier, it really slowed me down Sad. About 10mins apart now, still about a minute long and strong - had a couple of toe curlers. Had my show too which is good, if a little gross.
