ghosteditor · 02/02/2012 22:04

Davina, I didn't have the popping thing, but have read about it quite a few times on MN, never with an explanation, but also never with sinister implications! Just a pregnancy quirk I think...

Davinaaddict · 02/02/2012 22:27

Thanks ghost It does sound a bit sinister tbh! And I wasn't sure whether I was going mad and imagining things (babybrain is SERIOUSLY kicking in now!) Grin Glad to hear I'm not yet anyway Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 02/02/2012 22:42

Heating and hot water got fixed this evening. Am only just thawing out now. So pleased Smile

babybrain3 · 02/02/2012 22:45

davina has your baby got hiccups??

Davinaaddict · 03/02/2012 06:01

Glad you're lovely & toasty now Mamma - it's -6 here at the moment Shock

I don't think so babybrain - it's not that frequent and sounds more like when your joints crack but a babies version IYSWIM Confused

Soo tired but have to get my big lazy bum out of bed zzzzzzz Might have to try a power nap this afternoon like Babycentre told me to on today's daily update Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 03/02/2012 07:08

Mmm.. My aqua natal teacher asks us to tell her about any 'popping sensations' but don't know why? Are you still getting them davina?

Davinaaddict · 03/02/2012 07:56

I had one this morning when I was still in bed, but none since that I've noticed (but they are pretty quiet, so easy to miss if it's not completely quiet)

MammaInTheMaking · 03/02/2012 14:05

That's weird with the popping sounds Davina i've not heard of that happening before. I am all new to this though.

I'm dragging DP to John Lewis on Monday to look at travel systems. I have one particular one in mind but we'll see what works best for our needs. I've also confirmed my maternity leave dates with work. Am starting the day before due date! Although we have 2 bank holidays and a weekend before that so actually finishing work at 39+2 Am i crazy?? And i commute into London. Confused:o

How are baby Jools and baby Lilly getting on Ghost and Bun?

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 14:11

Mamma I started my ML with DS1 at 40 weeks. Technically I had 10 days of holiday I had to use before I went. But it actually started on his due date.

With DS2 however I was signed off ill with SPD at 35 weeks.

Davina That sounds a little strange.

I have my 20 week scan on Monday. I really hope they will be able to tell me their opinion of the sex. I want to know if the Cantaloupe Melon is a Rosalie or an Isaac. Grin

elliebug · 03/02/2012 14:17

Oooh I just got my new sewing machine from John Lewis!! I am bit in shock, we popped into kiddicare to have a look and they had the cotbed we want but in the wrong colour £50 off, we decide for 50 we'll get the colour we want. As we walk away we hear a lady shout to another, reduce that cot ( our one) to £99 it was over 200 to start with!!! So we bought it!!! Oh and the mattress was less than halfprice. Am in shock now Grin

MammaInTheMaking · 03/02/2012 14:24

Nice one ellie talk about right place at the right time! Also that's great news with the sewing machine! I made a couple of dribble bibs for a friend this week and really enjoyed it. I've had a bit of a break from making bibs recently, but this was fun so i think i'll get going with it again :o

Wow Kayzr that was close with DS1. Did you feel ok about leaving it so close to EDD? Was DS1 late?

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 14:30

He was 2 days late. I wanted as much time off with him as possible as it was only 6 months mat leave then. I felt fine. I went into labour at 4pm and honestly could have worked until the first contraction came.

I got a sewing machine for Xmas. I need to try and make something. I just don't know where to start.

Carlitawantsababy · 03/02/2012 14:59

Well done on the cot ellie! We ebayed ours and it is wood colour but I'm going to be painting it grey. You can get special non toxic nursery paints and almost any texture can be painted with a good primer (if it matters enough and if you can be bothered!) Grin
All the sewing talk is good, I've finally got myself back in to it and have finished a pair of dungarees which I made ages ago but needed to add poppers too and am just about to start a erm.. er...no idea what it would be called. I'm going to make a strip of fabric that goes across the top of the chest of drawers that the baby is having with big pockets on either side, the changing may will then sit on top and the pockets will be filled with cotton wool, nappy liners, nappy cream etc. like a utility belt but for furniture?! Grin

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 15:01

I have a load of pink fleece that I was going to try and make into a blanket. I just need the scan to say its a girl and to find a nice fabric to put on one side of it.

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 20:22

Help!!! My sewing machine says the thickness of cloth sewed by this machine is >0.3mm. Does that mean I can't sow fleece using it?

Davinaaddict · 03/02/2012 20:47

In a word Mamma, yes! You are crazy. I'm working up until 39+6 but I'm planning on not going anywhere for the last 2 weeks (I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home). I cant even think about a commute to London Confused Having said that, it was easier first time round. I had a load of holiday to use so I finished at 38 weeks but could have worked right up til the end.

Fingers crossed baby Kayzr plays nice this time Smile - like the names too!

Ooh ellie what a bargain Grin Being a Yorkshire lass, I do love a good bargain.

So after a reeeeally long day at work, I needed to clear my head a bit so decided to take DS's cot to bits to turn it into a toddler bed. He's now sleeping in his new bed in his big boys room. Although it's not finished yet as we need to sort wall stickers, new bin, lampshade etc. But all the furniture, clothes, teddys etc are in. One more thing I can cross off the to do list Grin But for now am thoroughly knackered so am curled up on the sofa counting down til bed time zzzzzz

Davinaaddict · 03/02/2012 20:49

Sorry Kayzr I've no idea - hopefully one of our talented ladies will be along soon to help!Smile

elliebug · 03/02/2012 22:05

I live in Yorkshire too Carlita!!
kayzr you should be able to sew fleece, I would assume your machine won't sew anything really thin but if you've copied it right and I've read it right it won't sew anything less than 0.3mm which is so thin I can't think of anything that thin!!! Hope that helpsSmile

elliebug · 03/02/2012 22:06

By Carlita I mean davina BlushBlush been a long day

Kayzr · 03/02/2012 22:07

I am in Yorkshire too!!

Yup that's exactly what the manual says. Is anything that thin? Silk maybe??

elliebug · 03/02/2012 22:43

Wow small world!! I'd have thought that even silk would be thicker cos you'd sew through 2 layers unless you were putting a pattern on, but who knows!!! Hummm I shall ask my mummy, she knows about things like this!!!!

Carlitawantsababy · 04/02/2012 08:29

Grin how brilliant that there's a Yorkshire massive! bun and trope are in Sussex where I will soon be, not bad to have two groupings of three with such a small thread group! Smile
Glad you got the sewing machine figured out kayzr. That's a confusing instruction as the majority of materials will be thicker. There would be some very thin things, you may be embroidering on a single layer of silk? Chiffon? Anyway, doubt it would bother the average home sewer. Fleece blanket sounds good kayzr!
My runner/utility belt thing is almost finished, will get it done today. Glad to have my motivation back! In other wonderful news I had an uninterrupted 7 hours sleep last night so am feeling good! Grin

Davinaaddict · 04/02/2012 08:45

Soooo EnvyEnvyEnvyEnvyEnvy of your lovely sleep Carlita Despite being tired yesterday, DS hasn't really settled too well into his new bed so has cried a fair bit. Although I've only actually had to go in once, when the poor mite fell out at about 2am Blush He was fine (he only fell about 6inches), just really frustrated that he couldn't get under the duvet cos he was laid on it. So I think he probably rolled off onto it, which would have been better than landing on the floor Grin But we knew it would be tough, which is why we thought moving him on a Friday would be the best time. Hopefully things will improve Smile

Love the Yorkshire & Suffolk Massives too Grin

I've got a honeydew melon today - 35 days and counting! And only 20 days of work Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 04/02/2012 09:28

Aw, bless him Sad !
I have a pineapple today! Grin

babybrain3 · 04/02/2012 09:32

A pineapple sounds a bit painful carlita!!
