Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

Harmonyb23 (23) Due date 19/08/12 DC#3

Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong, I've never started a thread before!

I might even use the name if it's a boy just to really piss them off! :-)

Hope it's not been too crap coming back from holiday stinky, did you have a fab time? We''re off to Greece in three weeks. Excited but not actually got anything sorted. I know where the passports are so I suppose that's a start. Dreading 4hours on a plane with a 20month old. Thankfully he's turned into a bit of a goggle box so I'm hoping that sticking an iPad loaded with films and pingu episodes should pacify him. Got to get a "fit to fly" note from doctors. It's going to cost me £40!

Hope everyone well. X x

Hiya, found out we're having a girl too. Spent last weekend recovering stuff from the loft, everything seems in really good condition, just needs cleaning. All I need are bottles, bouncy chair, nappies and wipes and I'm good to go.

aflycup · 14/05/2012 13:49

Hi all, I haven't been on for a while as I changed computers and lost my password but all sorted now! I'm due 15th Aug with my first, didn't find out sex. Getting house sorted now and trying to buy the basics and blag what I don't want to buy new from friends/family! Over the past week or two I've had some leakage from nipples - is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this starting from 26 weeks? Seems to be unpredictable and I feel so ignorant about bodily changes during preg, as much as I read up about things I find there is so much more to learn!

KarenJT · 27/05/2012 17:58

hello
I'm in week 28 and just thinking about who I will talking to once I finish work, hence I have joined mumsnet and this group all due in August. I kinda know some people in the area who have babies but they seem to have it much more together than me. I hope you guys will have some friendly words of advice for a novice like me :)

aflycup · 28/05/2012 09:56

Hi! Welcome KarenJT! Been on this thread since it began but things have gone very quiet recently, think maybe people are busy getting ready for baby! Very friendly, down-to-earth people though, so even if this thread doesn't pick up it's worth browsing the others for great practical advice!

SquidgerInMyBelly · 28/05/2012 10:17

Hi all,

I'm nearly 31wks - due 1/8 - first baby - don't know if boy/girl. Just to say hi and to join your merry group. Only 9 weeks to go. Last week in work - hooray! Coping with this heat is hard work!

(No leaking here - though small yellow crud appearing in holes - sorry! Rather envious of your leaking - must be reassuring.)

Everyone is driving me batty - cant do NCT as can't make the dates work for us - been warned by a million people now I am bound to get PND. There are weekly groups to go to....am I really doing it all wrong?? Wasnt worried about PND but am now!!

xxx

To SquidgerInMyBelly
of the vast number of people I have canvased about antinatal classes (a total of 2) 50% swore it was great an enjoyed have a group of mothers to meet up with and the other 50% didnt care that they hadnt been to any classes. We are going to the 3 classes run by the midwife. the times are a complete pain for work but they will just have to lump it.

To aflycup
Im due 14th august, almost snap! suppose people are getting ready. i try to pick up something i might use in the future every time i go to the super market. got maternity pads this week, i never really thought about that my body does after birth when making the baby. what kind of stuff you got?

To Ambi
You seem sorted baby stuff wise, award yourself a gold star! Do you think a cot needs a new mattress for a new baby? we were given a cot by family friends and my mother in law swore that it was terrible not to get a new matress.

Merry Jubilee mums- bring on our olympic babies

Stinkyminkymoo · 02/06/2012 08:57

Hello everyone!

Sorry haven't been on in ages, just all so hectic at the mo. The house is still not finished, stressful; work is ramping up
Even though I'm supposed to be taking it easy and training my mat leave replacement means that everything takes 3 times as long and I'd rather do it myself.

So looking forwards to leaving work. My manager is really getting on my tits at the mo, she sent an ail out to the team and mentioned about 'when I calve' yeah, funny.

My feet look like Cornish pasties they're so swollen and I get really bad pins and needles in my hands too. Feeling a bit sorry for myself right now actually and not even going to mention about the hard time my mother is giving me.

On a brighter note, I have bought some gorgeous little baby clothes including a swaddle and a grow bag thing (sleep bag - I know it's a baby not a tomato plant!!)

Anyone thought of names yet? We ha e a boys name but really struggling with girls!

Hope everyone else is well. Smile

Ambi · 05/06/2012 22:58

Hi Karen, I would recommend a new mattress for a 2nd hand cot. We have a Moses basket which we bought brand new for DD1 so we are reusing that mattress (as we know the history) but were given a 2nd hand cot which we used afterwards from a couple that we didn't know so well so bought a new mattress, I think from kiddiecare. We painted the cot and looked great.

Ambi · 05/06/2012 23:09

I'm so jealous that you are all talking about leaving work so soon, I don't finish until Aug 10th.

I've seen a few tiny babies this weekend, it's made me so broody. DD is so excited and keeps talking about the things she's going to do with her baby. She'll be a great big sister.

Hope everyone's enjoyed the BHs, but god I miss alcohol. BHs are made for hangovers.

Can I ask how many of those not having first DC how much they've seen their MW? I've not seen mine since booking in, I'm not sure how normal that is or whether it'll step up now nearing the end. Last time I had loads of appts, I not sure whether that was first DC/ before NHS cuts/ bad MW this time around?

Welcome to the 3rd trimester!! Envy of you who are down to single figure weeks left - me 12!!

PickleSarnie · 08/06/2012 13:51

Hi all,

Been rubbish recently and not posted in ages. Got back from lovely holiday in Greece a week ago and my tan is already fading fast. Sigh. It was so nice to have some relaxation before all hell breaks loose. we put DS in the crèche a few days so got to lie in the sun and read books.

5 more days and I'm in single figure weeks to go! It's really dragging this time. I think last time went quicker because I was more excited and had lots of things to buy. This time, I know what's going to happen so I just want to get there. MIL brought round some baby gros. I think it only just dawned on me then that there's going to be something small enough to fit in them!

ambi I've hardly seen my midwife this time but still I've seen them more than you have. Seems strange not to have seen them since booking appointment. I think you're supposed to see them at booking in, then 16 weeks, 27 weeks, 32 weeks and then every two weeks after that. Definitely worth giving them a shout to chase them along.

squidger don't worry about not making NCT. There's nothing that can't be read from books etc. the most useful thing I found about the classes, was the people I met. But there are bound to be coffee mornings, baby massage classes etc in your area full of lots of people in the same boat as you. It's tough making an effort when you can barely be bothered to brush your hair but definitely worth it.

stinky "calve" ?! Eurrrrgh. And in a group work email?! That is so unprofessional! That must have taken a lot of tongue biting not to say anything! Hope your mother not stressing you out too much. We've had trouble with boys names but have a girls name. Or rather, I've decided on one and told persuaded DH that were using it.

The midwife has mentioned home births each time I've seen her. I initially dismissed her but now I've been thinking about it more and researching it, I think I might go for it. Id really like a birth pool, even if I don't actually give birth in one, and our hospital only has one pool and it's in a delivery suite room as posed to the mlu so generally the room is being used by a "high risk" delivery. Definitely not going to tell parents or inlaws if I go for it though. I can't begin to imagine alL the comments!

Right, DS is wakening up. Must dash!

BlondeBluebird · 08/06/2012 16:59

Hi everyone,

Just stumbled across this conversation looking for other mums to be to chat to. I'm due August 21st with my first. Things are starting to get very real now with only 2 months to go!

I'm starting my maternity leave in about 4 weeks but would be quite happy to go now, starting to get quite tired!

xx

Katiclio · 06/07/2012 07:23

Hi everyone
I'm due 26 Aug with first DS. Feeling good mostly but looking to chat others due around the same time.
Just woke up on my RHS with searing pain in my low ribs but once if found a way to move position pain disappeared. Can't decide if my ribs have gone to sleep, been dislodged a bit or if stuff's just getting squished on that side!
How's everyone else getting on?

Katiclio · 06/07/2012 07:25

Hi Sidonie84
I don't finish for another six weeks but I'm a bit mad like that - thought of finishing freaking me out a little!
Hope you're doing ok this week.

KarenJT · 19/08/2012 10:03

whoop the bump has changed shape! sagging like other things but could be a sign that DS is finally ready to appear :)
