Hello, my name is Becky and I have just got my BFP after TTC for 5 months with 1 MMC a month ago.

I noticed that no-one had started a August 2012 antenatal club so thought I might start one here. Welcome to all!

Here are my stats;

Harmonyb23 (23) Due date 19/08/12 DC#3

Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong, I've never started a thread before!

Perhaps dye your hair pink and they won't notice anything else?! :-)

Just got the results of my nuchal scan - four weeks later. Better late than never I guess?! 1:3900 which is a weight off my mind considering I'm knocking on a bit and my age alone gives me a starting value of 1:270.

Does anyone else have hideous acid?! I am a walking burp machine too. It's disgusting and if last time is anything to go by, it's only going to get worse. Eurgh.

Stinkyminkymoo · 09/03/2012 16:37

You k ow I would if the host didn't have bright red hair. And I mean Angry red!!

Good news on your nuchal scan. I can't remember my result, but it was ok so that's good!

I'm good on the burping though the dog seems to do rather a lot of farting recently... Wink

I've managed to pick up a rather annoying cough from people at work, it's like a hacking smokers cough and I keep thinking I'm going to pee each time I cough. Not fun, I so need to not be at work. Sad

ruskiewicz · 13/03/2012 21:05

Interesting that you got proper results from your nuchal scan - my letter just said 'low risk'.
Also found out by chance I'm supposed to have a m/w appt at 16 weeks, so booked one (will be 17 weeks by then). They're useless round here - you're just left to guess.
I'm with you on the burping thing - it's horrible. Still waiting for the 'glow'. Not even showing yet, just chubby. With dry skin patches.

PickleSarnie · 13/03/2012 21:26

I never found out the actual results last time but this time the midwife had to chase the hospital and then just texted me the results which was a bit random!

The 16 week appointment is a bit dull. Apparently I don't have syphilis, HIV or hepatitis which didn't exactly come as a surprise!. So I didn't really learn anything new. Then she booked me in for my next appointment at 28 weeks. I guess the second time around they just figure you know the drill so you barely have to see them. Thankfully remembered to empty the wee sample because 11weeks is a long time! Does everyone elses midwife just hand back the full sample?! It's a bit icky!

ruskie I'm also waiting for the glow. But I fear I may be waiting in vain so I had a trip to spaceNK to buy some very expensive glow in a bottle instead.

I've just suddenly gone from the "ate too many pies" look to actually looking pregnant in the last week so don't think I can keep it secret-ish at work for long. I think this time round my stomach muscles can't be bothered putting up any sort of a fight!

stinky I may have to buy a dog so I have something else to blame!!

Stinkyminkymoo · 15/03/2012 10:02

Well I'm stuck in bed with a stinking, revolting cold I've picked up from work. Angry not only do I look and feel grim but I have to stay at my parents as I'm having the house re-plumbed. Completely.

Thought it best to do it before the baby comes, but with DH at his mothers and me at mine, I don't get to see much of him, especially since being ill. Not much fun.

Getting lots of flutters which is lovely Smile

PickleSarnie · 18/03/2012 08:26

Sending lots of get well vibes stinky. I've got some sort of bug too so am holed up in bed. Feeling bit better now. Especially since I got brought breakfast in bed and the Sunday papers. Lovely.

I think my very expensive " glow in a bottle" is working. I don't look anywhere near as crap as I did. Thoroughly recommend shy uemera face oil and kiehls midnight recovery. Well worth the huge dent in my bank balance.

Stinkyminkymoo · 19/03/2012 10:15

Oh lucky pickle, I still look blotchy and quite frankly a bit minging.

Someone has just brought their 7 day old baby ini work. Aside from quite frankly having no interest in other peoples babies (I know, I know!) it has given me the fear. I'll have one of those in about 4 and a bit months. Shit.

PickleSarnie · 19/03/2012 12:56

I was always the same with other people's babies stinky Trying to be interested in small, floppy headed creatures that did pretty much nothing was pretty hard. Friends didn't even attempt to hand me their babies until they were at least 4 months old. Even my own floppy headed creature wasn't the most exciting thing ever! I just don't think I'm ever going to be a baby person. Toddlers on the other hand are brilliant!! Even though they're fondness for the words "No" and "more" gets a bit wearing after a while!

1 and a bit more weeks until the 20 week scan. Think I'll be able to relax a bit after that. Although am sure I'll just find new stuff to stress about.

Stinkyminkymoo · 19/03/2012 19:20

I know, they're just a bit 'meh' really. I like toddlers I think they are funny.

Who would like to remind me of that statement in 2 years time? Grin

PickleSarnie · 21/03/2012 12:10

Id have loads of kids if I could give birth to toddlers. It might sting a bit though!

The weather is soooooo lovely. Makes me want to sit outside and drink lots of pimms. Sigh. Ach well, almost half way there. Hopefully it'll still be sunny by the end!

Stinkyminkymoo · 23/03/2012 08:38

I've got my 20 week scan today! Exciting!

PickleSarnie · 24/03/2012 09:29

How did the scan go stinky? Half way there!! Only 20 more weeks of trousers that don't stay up and eating gaviscon for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Stinkyminkymoo · 28/03/2012 07:50

It went great thanks Pickle! It is such an amazing thing to see, little heart, kidneys, brain and all limbs flailing about! Didn't find out the sex though DH was craning to see if he could see an appendage waving about Wink

My lovely mum ten took me clothes shopping afterwards to get some proper maternity clothes. Could you believe in the whole of town, only 1 shop (h&m) had any? Next had a pathetic rail of about 5 items of clothing. Complete crap! So ended up buying quite a bit.

Had a lovely weekend too though I suspect this will be my last month of riding Sad but I am so enjoying wandering round the countryside with DHorse, it's so relaxing. Had better make sure I get back into shape sharpish Grin

How's everyone else doing? X

PickleSarnie · 30/03/2012 08:07

Glad it went well stinky, I had mine yesterday. There was a trainee sonographer in with the one doing my measurements so as she as typing up my notes, the trainee had a bit of a play around. Was fab actually because he was able to spend lots of time pointing out all the bits. Was scared he was going to point out "the" bits because I didn't want to know if it's boy or girl but he didn't. Although, got quite a close up shot from below and I think it might be a girl. Or possibly a boy with a tiny willy!

I think everyone else has disappeared! It looks like its just you and me stinky . Is anyone else there?! Helllllllllooooooooo, helllllloooooooooo!!

I'm with you on the crap maternity clothes. They all seem so washed out and dull. Bought a dress from mamas and papas but when I got home and tried it on, it was so synthetic that every time I moved it gave me an electric shock! And was so static that I think I'd be retrieving it constantly from my crotch all day. Classy. So it's going back! Currently wearing jeans that are working their way down towards my ankles so permanently hitching them up. Lovely.

Stinkyminkymoo · 30/03/2012 11:22

I think it is jus the pair of us!!
[waves frantically!]

I currently have 1 pair of jeans that are not maternity. I go to work in them on all dress down days, I ride in them, I do everything in ten as I cannot for love nor money find a comfy pair. They sit just below The Bump so are still alright. Still annoying though!

Something else, every Monday I come into work, people express surprise at the fact The Bump has grown. What do they think it is going to do?! It only got 9 months to go from cells to a fully formed & functioning baby!!

Still. Only 98 days until my maternity leave. Not that I'm counting or anything. Grin

Stinkyminkymoo · 30/03/2012 11:29

Hey Pickle, just realised we are due a few days between each other! Aww!

Was it not a bit weird having a student in your scan? I suppose if you get loads more time, it can only be a win!! Grin

PickleSarnie · 30/03/2012 14:03

It wasn't too weird having a student this time. I got asked if I could allow medical students in the room when I had my son. I said no, I wouldn't have minded a student midwife but didn't fancy a bunch of students gathered around the business end whilst I was pushing. Although, by the time I eventually got to that point I really wouldn't have given two hoots about who was in the room. I didn't even bat an eyelid when two women came in with a bucket to mop me down after it as all over!

I still haven't really told anyone at work. I'm sure there's still a few people that think I'm just a bit porky and been overindulging in pies. My lovely, lovely dress from Hobbs that I treated myself to when I went back to work has finally been put into temporary retirement at the back of my cupboard and been replaced by some tired looking maternity clothes from last time. This is definitely the last time I'll be wearing them. Might have a ceremonial burning of them in August!

How many weeks are you working till? (brain not functioning to figure out how long 98 days are! :) ) I lasted until 37 last time. Was going to go till 38 but was so knackered and have 90 mile commute to London (180 round trip) and just couldn't be bothered anymore.

ruskiewicz · 02/04/2012 18:58

Hello, I'm still here. Looks like I'm a bit behind you two - the 20 week scan isn't til Thursday.
I noticed lots of people have disappeared. Have they gone to another group or something?
Had a big wardrobe clear out today (am between temp jobs and praying another one comes along soon, although it's only my first day without work). Have to say TK Maxx had some nice stuff by way of tops and smocky things. Although it took a lot of rifling through the frankly hideous stuff they had on offer too.
Am jealous of you Stinky, having a horse. I used to have horses as a teenager and even now the smell of hoof oil makes me all misty-eyed... I've been known to pop into tack shops for a quick sniff.

Stinkyminkymoo · 02/04/2012 21:04

Hi ruskie! Good to go from 2 to 3! I have my mat leave on a countdown on my phone. It's about 3 months so It makes it feel better in days see!

Went to see a friend of mine over the weekend who gave me loads if maternity clothes which was great as I'm loathe to buy anything more.

I know what you mean about that gorgeous horse smell, i love it i always joke that Eau de Cheval is an incredibly expensive scent to wear Wink. I also did my last Sad dressage test before I give up riding which is likely to be the end of this month, I'm going to miss it terribly and watch with insane jealousy as my dh tides instead of me. Angry

Baby is kicking like a good in at the mo, like to think its excited! It's all starting to ramp up now, just need to plumbing in the house to be finished and can then start decorating the baby room! Grin

ruskiewicz · 03/04/2012 19:51

Hello - I keep wondering when to finish for mat leave... due 26th August and it's my first so am a bit clueless on these things. Mind you, I need some work to come my way first! Temping isn't something I'd recommend - way too hit and miss. Thank God for the redundancy payout last year.

Have got a wedding at the beginning of May. Still not showing too much yet, but will have to get something in dress form. And fortunately a pair of expensive new shoes will still be wearable long after the baby comes:)

You're brave keeping up with the riding. Dressage was way out of my league - tearing around over jumps was more my thing, and I've lost count of how many times I came off. Wonder how long after the birth before you're back in the saddle?

Stinkyminkymoo · 04/04/2012 10:11

I'm due on 11th August and my mat leave starts on 6th July. I can't wait I have to be honest. Whilst not a high flying job, it is highly pressured and the atmosphere in the office (specifically in my team) is fraught to say the least! Not much fun!!

I must be HUGE compared to you two! I am so obviously pregnant there is no way I could hide it!!

I've been riding for years and had DarlingHorse for 5 years and bought a 7mo colt last August (oops, but he is delicious!). I'm hoping that the riding might help with my pelvic floor Wink but I really do love it and am not doing anything silly. I love dressage and admire those who can leave the ground, I am a total wimp so don't! I have my last lesson today Sad.

I think DH is hoping for a boy so we don't have to buy another pony Grin

PickleSarnie · 04/04/2012 10:35

I always wanted a pony when I was little stinks but I got a gerbil instead. Not quite the same. Harrumph.

Hope scan goes well tomorrow ruskie, are you going to find out what you're having? I'm a bit gutted now that I didn't but I was so adamant at the time I didn't want to know. Now I've got to think of two names instead of just one. And we've used the only boys name we could both agree on on DS. It's the only time I wish id had babies a bit younger because I'd have more names to choose from because my friends wouldn't have got there first! We've been calling the bump Gertrude because it was the first ridiculous name I could think of. I'm scared that it'll actually grow on me and in my hormone induced state, insist on calling it Gertrude if its a girl!

Have any of you started thinking of names yet?

ruskiewicz · 04/04/2012 15:21

Hi both -
We're going to find out tomorrow what we're having. It's our first and we want to buy a few things, think about names etc.
Don't know about you but there seems a lot more choice for girl's names... will probably opt for something more traditional if it's a boy. We don't seem to discuss it much yet. It would be so much easier if we could have a drink or three and get creative!
I'm with you on the office politics, Stinky. I took voluntary severance from a lovely job in a museum (was there almost 8 years) and have been temping. Just finished a long term assignment working in the most godawful, negative atmosphere. I was getting snide comments just because I'm a temp and they were annoyed I got to leave before them!
Am still pursuing the fantasy of working for myself/winning the lottery/writing a bestseller.
Pickle, I've heard of far worse than Gertrude...Wink

Stinkyminkymoo · 04/04/2012 19:34

Oh how exciting ruskie! We decided not to as well and part of me is with pickle in regretting not finding out for 2 reasons 1st being about names, having to think of twice as many is hard, esp with our surname being a boys name too! The 2nd is that DH really wants a boy and I'm worried he will be disappointed if we have a girl. Not that he won't love her at all, but it may be a bit of a surprise. Sad tricky huh?

I started rinsing when I was 3 (prob main reason DH wants a girl!) and wanted a pony so bad. I had to wait 27 years before I could get my own. I also really wanted an Andalusian (like the Gandalf's white horse or the black ones in lord of
The rings), but had to wait longer for one of those. He's in his toddler stage at the mo, throwing himself around because he didn't get his own way so I consider it preparing myself really well for parenthood Wink

Let us know how the scan goes, I'm guessing a girl... Grin

Stinkyminkymoo · 04/04/2012 19:35

I clearly meant 'started riding' not rinsing. Stupid phone!!
