Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Morning all,

sorry to hear of the bad nights all, sounds like you lot have been having a dreadful time. Sorry to hear of DD's illness cakes and the snow. Brr It better not hit here if it does theres a very real possibilty that my mum wont be able to get to me if I go into labour -they live at the bottom of very steep hill. so I am praying it doesn't come here but looking fearfully at the sky which looks distinctly ominous.

Been much the same myself sleepwise, i'm so tired already i'm dreading the newborn days-my 3 friends who have had them recently are all having bloody awful nights with thier babies at the moment-it's giving me the fear.

addicted I am angry and emotional too. I have been grumpy and snappy all week. DH has been a bloody saint-shame dd hasn't.

Just been to visit my freind who had her baby girl last week the one who was in latent abour for almost 2 weeks. She has 2 black eyes from pushing! Apparently the strain of giving birth burst the blood vessels in her face! it's made me wonder about other random birth injuries.

SpagBollyandtheIvy · 15/12/2011 11:09

Another one for the no sleep club here. DS has a hacking cough and has been up all night. He came into our bed but just kept climbing on top of me, kicking me, crying cos he'd lost his bunny under the duvet etc etc. And finally fell asleep at about 630. So I am knackered.

Going out for lunch today, so will replensish energy levels with a fish finger sandwich :)

knittiekitty · 15/12/2011 11:15

One day spent cleaning and doing jobs and it's a new thread! It took me more than half an hour to change Dd's carseat from harness straps to seatbelt yesterday - something I should have done a couple of months ago but kept putting off. As for hoovering, well that's not going to happen but I did make up the spare room bed ready for my mum next week, and felt like I deserved a medal for it.
Addicted you poor thing, that was a rubbish night and I hope you can nap today. Keep an eye on the period pains and hb though, it could be an early sign? Or just exhaustion I suppose but my sis's second labour started the day after a day of regular hb's.
Giraffe sounds lovely, I'd rather be snuggled than cooking just because my aching legs make it no fun at the mo.

My bump has dropped noticeably in the last 2 days. Dh dropped Dd off this morning and thinks he heard her saying 'yes' when her teacher asked her if mummy has had the baby yet. Dd also told the staff at her nursery that the baby is here when we popped in earlier this week to get a place sorted. The disappointment when they came rushing out only to see me with bump and without pram was embarrassing.

I feel so grumpy today for no reason - had plenty of sleep, have no cats and nothing I can think of for cause of grouchiness. Good job I'm home alone.

Btw, should I have got something in for presents for Dd's teacher and TA? She was apparently stricken this morning as she didn't have presents to give. I've got emergency chocolate oranges and After Eights that I could wrap for tomorrow, is that the kind of thing? It was only at the end of the year in my day, I don't recall Christmas gifts too.

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 15/12/2011 11:26

Bee I am now up to the grand total of four movements - one big kick and some squirming. Am sure it's fine but if I don't have a proper burst of activity by mid afternoon I should probably get checked out, in line with medical advice.

... And that's 5 movements...

knittiekitty · 15/12/2011 11:32

fish eek, black eyes sounds dramatic. I'm still worried about my teeth (utterly involuntary teeth clenching last time before my epidural kicked in) although Dh said he'll buy me new ones if they fall out! The MW said to take a flannel in to bite on if it happens again. As for the first few nights, try not to worry as you get through it somehow. I felt completely nuts at times, almost hallucinating from lack of sleep one night when I was trying to express through mastitus pain. Luckily my mum arrived for a couple of days to help(she's great in a crisis). We weren't napping at all in the day but trying to keep going duh - which we won't do this time. For two reasonably intelligent people it didn't occur to us that we needed sleep too and could even take turns to doze! By the end of the week we were sane again, sleeping a bit more and generally calm. You'll be fine!

MissRee · 15/12/2011 11:38

I am soooooooo not keeping up here Blush got another 100 posts to read now Grin

Just a quick question... I've just started on the raspberry leaf tea (late, according to MW) but how much should I be drinking in a day???? One good thing - it's not as offensive tasting as I thought it would be!!!

Rx

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 15/12/2011 11:41

misree you knjow what i bougth RLT capsules about 2 weeks ago-I took them for 2 days then forgot-thanks you have just reminded me. The dose depends on how far along you are I think-4-5 times a day if you have 2 weeks to go i think.

Oeisha · 15/12/2011 11:57

kitty maybe it's a lack of cats causing the grumpiness? I love my furbabies to bits. Even when they're bugger-nutting about. Just need to watch them snoozing, or hold a furry hoof for a bit and I'm all calm again.

ghost I hope LO starts to bash more soon. So, Abi hasn't moved much over night, but she's made up for it since 0800. Something like 30odd movements since then. I'll get Abi to send your LO some vibes...

missree Not doing rasp. leaf tea here as I want this bugger to stay in 'til at least 37wks...and after my slight contractions wobble I'm just not giving her any excuses to come out early. I think they advise the tea from 32wks. Not sure about the doses...but I do know they advice starting early to build up enough in your system for it to be effective...I think the idea is 1-3 cups a day wiht usual consumption, (so if you're starting late try 4) but if you have increased HBs then cut back to 2 and further back if still getting more regular HBs....

Nanny01 · 15/12/2011 11:57

Any one in the can't eat club. Dh took me out for a lovely early Christmas dinner and I could barely eat half of it. Felt really bad as I almost threw up at the table. Out for lunch with ds1 this lunch time to TGI Fridays and I am going to choose a light meal as I can barely eat any thing. I really hate leaving stuff on a plate like that. I think it is harder to eat now he is head down now so I hope he engages a little a and I get some food space soon. Really don't want to miss out on the Christmas dinner I have planned. I also feel so tiered to. Mostly want to sleep when I have to go and pick the kids up from school. Any way for those of us with school age kids that will be done; good times. However I am sure the house will get even messier; bad times!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 15/12/2011 12:03

Ok, we have definitely achieved ten now, but they're more squirmings than flailings: I guess because ppm must be quite giant by now (and I'm short so there's not much room). I think I'm just getting used to the different sensations. Thanks for the reassurance, and oeisha, fab that Abi is her usual exuberant self too!

Sometimes it genuinely feels like ppm is trying to stretch out through my skin! Most lumpy-looking...

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 15/12/2011 12:07

Definitely awake and squirming now Grin

Oeisha · 15/12/2011 12:14

Go PPM!!! :D I'll tell Abi to stop the vibes now if you want...

Nanny I get the can't eat/don't want to eat. The lactulose has helped me a lot. It seems to be worse if I haven't pooped for a while! That and I've also realised I have a lot more indigestion than I first thought and that puts me off. 5ml of gaviscon after brekkie and a similar amoutn after lunch, plus 10ml at night, with potentially 10ml at 3-4am seems to help me - even if it is psychosomatic. I also don't want fatty foods. Could it be a similar thing with you?

Oeisha · 15/12/2011 12:15

Oh! I assume noone's heard from deb. Can't help but worry about her. If you are keeping watch deb, then .

knittiekitty · 15/12/2011 12:17

Oeisha you could be right - we had cats throughout my childhood but my Dh loathes them, something to do with being attacked when he was little, but he won't even consider us having one Sad something of a deal breaker for him! Dd wants a pet desperately, so I break our usual collective responsibility approach and refer her straight to him for further conversation. If anyone has a hope of breaking him it will be her.

MissRee · 15/12/2011 12:23

Thanks for replies ladies, think I'll go for 3 today and see if anything happens then have one or two more tomorrow Grin

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 15/12/2011 12:24

Oiesha I have been PM-ing Deb a little bit, shes ok, shes just gotta wait for DH to come home to find out the real truth about what happened in thailand. He denies all, she needs to have a face to face with him to know whats what.

I think things are much calmer now for her and he Mum is supporting her while he's away.

rednosedreindeerhead · 15/12/2011 12:37

was wondering how deb was. Is her husband still away ?? horrid stuff.

i was going to take RLT but now I'm starting to get a bit terrified of the birth I think i might hold off!!

MissRee · 15/12/2011 13:55

Rednose - afaik, it doesn't bring on labour but it does strengthen uterine muscles so that the second stage of labour is quicker, more efficient and less painful. That's what I'm hoping for anyway Grin

Mulledbee · 15/12/2011 14:44

Glad to hear that you have movements again, ghost. Apple Crumb (my bump) is very mellow - they often go a while with no movements. It can be quite worrying...

I'm ok with eating Nanny, I think the baby has dropped a bit. Hopefully yours will by Christmas to allow room for a meal. :)

Hi MissRee, I missed you on the last thread. I'm not taking raspberry leaf tea - I probably should but I'm wary of self-prescribing stuff. Mind you, I've not started perineum massage or pre-labour exercises... I probably should start all this stuff!

Mulledbee · 15/12/2011 14:53

Gah, I treated myself to a £10 bottle of olive oil yesterday (I'm a foodie). I just dropped it, unopened, on our new kitchen floor. :(

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 15/12/2011 15:01

MissRee · 15/12/2011 15:22

Hi mulled - I seem to be selling everything lately! I've smashed 2 bowls, 2 side plates and 6 dinner plates so far this pregnancy Sad

My midwife suggested the RLT but said I should have been taking it from 35 weeks! Oh well, hopefully taking it now will still do something!

MissRee · 15/12/2011 15:22

Selling? I meant smashing!!!

GiraffeAHolic · 15/12/2011 15:27

Sad mulledbee

I think we might be in for some wintry showers here, the sky's come over all funny.

Managed to catch up on most of my ironing today, just got to get it all put away.

Got back ache and aching in the bottom of my bump this afternoon so be interesting to see what MW says tomorrow morning.

FrillyMilly · 15/12/2011 15:28

I had Raspberry leaf tea from about 32 weeks last time and had to push for 3 hours!! Not bothering this time as I found it so vile to drink.

Cakes you ok?
