Hope you don't mind the slight tweaking of the thread title :) I was feeling creative! Not that it matters, at this rate it won't last more than a week...!

Grin thanks cakes! I'll get a carrier oil then I guess. Mmmm ylang ylang - used to have that as incense sticks as a teenager.

GiraffeAHolic · 29/12/2011 21:35

Wow it's all go on here tonight!

We don't need any roadside births addicted Smile don't think the AA carry gas and air!

Exciting M2b hope tomorrow goes really well for you, maybe keep an eye on the bleeding though.

I've just realised that tomorrow is the equivalent day that i went into labour with Dd, and coincidentally I had 40 week appt at 39+4 just like my appt tomorrow Smile

Don't fancy a repeat of the 52 hour labour however Hmm

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 29/12/2011 21:36

Apparently sticking the pads in the freezer is soothing! Alternatively those little mini gel packs in the fridge then inserted between 2 pairs of knickers is nice if you're sore...

Bah. Have been blocking out the post partum stuff...

shonnomanom · 29/12/2011 21:38

EEK m2b very exciting!! Totally feel your pain on the sweep. I dont remember it being so sore and uncomfortable last time. Although iv not been bleeding since yesterday I have had a lot of mucusy gunk.

Angry @ your BIL fish

Thank goodness your DH came to your rescue addicted

Baby is still being quieter, my bump feels hard and my pgp has been at its best for a llooong time. That and all the gunky goop when at the loo. Im feeling optimistic about meeting this baby within in the week. fx.

Mum2be79 · 29/12/2011 21:45

Bleeding stopped. Just mucus gunk. Although my pad resembled a messy pooh when I checked it after tea - Blush It was bright/dark red colour though.

I went for a bath and that has eased my discomfort a lot! I don't think it has truly sunk in that by maybe late tomorrow (or Saturday) I'll be a mummy!

Kinda hoping for a 2012 baby though. Maybe I will be like my friend's sister - she was induced on a Friday in November but didn't give birth until 6:45am on the Sunday!

I had heard and read about the membrane sweep and thought and told it would be uncomfortable. So either people lie or I'm a bloody wimp! Friends on my FB page are telling me that being induced isn't as bad as what it's made out to be. I hope they're right.

FrillyMilly · 29/12/2011 21:47

Good luck mum2be

Glad no roadside birth!! SIL was asking DH if he had read up on how to deliver the baby in case it happens fast or on the way to hospital [hmmm]. Do people really do that? If at home I trust 999 will talk him through it and I'm really not thinking about possible birth on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

shonnomanom · 29/12/2011 21:53

m2b I was talking to my mum earlier about my sweep yesterday and she remembers me comparing it to a sweep last pregnancy. But yesterday was bloody sore. I think it just depends on what is happening down there.

As far as the induction goes, just remember that everyone has different experiences. Take each step as it comes and remember that every contraction, every push gets you closer to holding your wonderful bundle of joy. Happy Days!
ps, good news on the lack of bleeding x

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 29/12/2011 21:55

M2b - a girl from my yoga class was induced at 40+14 (I think!) and had a perfectly drug free birth, and even said she 'wouldn't describe labour as painful exactly, but uncomfortable at the end' - I'd take that especially after induction Grin. Just try to keep moving!

Mum2be79 · 29/12/2011 22:04

Thanks ghost that is reassuring. I think my cervix was probably not ready for it -hence the pain. I've done some searching on MN and a lot of people compared it to a smear test and that it was just uncomfortable. Maybe I was unlucky. I won't be letting them do that again though!

What was funny is that the MW asked me to focus on something and for some reason the beach sprang to mind! I'm not a particular fan of the beach!

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 29/12/2011 22:15

Funny what the mind will do in a panic Grin

Has anyone seen the AIBU thread that's about to go BSM with some crazy incoherent poster ranting about her Canadian BIL? Good for full on belly laughs and endorphins - and someone has already posted that they think they're laughing hard enough to go into labour Wink I would link but can't do so on my phone...

greenlady78 · 29/12/2011 22:29

Hi ladies,

Another two days of not being around and trying to catch up with everyone and everything!!!!

worm so sorry to hear about your granddad Sad I hope you are feeling better and it is not long now till you see your little one.

makescakes I know how you feel, I just feel generally huge and hope the baby comes early (37 and not 40+), trying everything!

fish hope your sister is feeling better!!!! Poor her, that must have been quite scary! And also annoyed at your BIL...infuriating behaviour!

addicted yay, glad you managed to escape the dual carriage baby :P

mum2be wow, wow! Fx for you, sending positive vibes your way!

shonnomanom · 29/12/2011 23:01

Oh ghost I just read that thread. Some belters in there! The poor op hasn't helped herself at all has she .

greenlady78 · 29/12/2011 23:04

Ah, went for an appt today and they found protein in my urine, so going for a blood test tomorrow. I know some of you had it as well and everything was fine, so I am keeping a very positive approach to it! I had no headache, (big) swelling or high blood pressure...so fx it is, well, nothing really! xxxx

Wormshuffler · 30/12/2011 05:39

Morning...............any babies?? :)

Todays the day for some of you, I feel it in my bones! Good luck whoever it turns out to be!!

Oeisha · 30/12/2011 05:47

GOOOOD MORNING MUMSNET LAND!!!
OK, that was too loud.

Abi's going a pace so can't sleep. I've woken DH too. It's a balmy 14*c in here... Confused. Can see me having to run heating on constant, but lower in the hope of normalising stuff at night... Hmm

m2b I hope you're ok and LO makes a hassle free exit.

green I'm sure it's fine. FX for you. I think I've managed a +++ and re-tested with slightly different method and only got a +, so they didn't bother with much, accept to tell me if I felt headachey etc to come back asap.

Humm, stuffed back a banana and might do some toast and tea in the hopes of making sure hunger isn't the reason for Abi being a mentalist all awake. Might even go back to bed for a few hours! Ah, decisions, decisions...

Oeisha · 30/12/2011 05:47

Ohh!

ParsleyandChestnutStuffingLion · 30/12/2011 06:58

Morning ladies Smile

Let's see what today brings - fx m2b and everybody else with twingesGrin

Fx on the proteins greenlady I'm sure it will be fine.

greenlady78 · 30/12/2011 09:06

Thanks oeisha and parsley! Waiting for blood to be taken (and reading Dracula... Hmmmm, maybe should choose better b

mulledfishandfrostedlilacs · 30/12/2011 09:08

morning all,

uneventful night-dh gave me a lovely back rub and i fell asleep and only woke once for a wee then dd woke me at 6.30. shes being utterly lovely today so i'm really enjoying it.

as soon as i got up and about the pains started again. yesterday was quite exhausting in the end i do hope it either gets going or stops today. my mouth ulcers have spread and my whole right hand side of tongue is really sore. i never get ulcers.

i have very leaky boobs too I was almost hand expressing in the bath last night-proper milky stuff dripping rather than just droplets.-one nipple is quite sore as well. They look huge, I do hope thats another sign.

green hope youre ok with the protiens.

mum2 shame everything is still much the same.

shonno i had several sweeps with dd and i had entenox for thr first one it was so painful. i'm not sure if i will allow that again tbh. It did nothing for me except give me pain and mucky brown gunky blood.

re chamomile oil. its a perfectly lovely safe oil deeply relaxing -which one have you bought though roman or german? assuming it's roman which is the most commonly available it will help to relax, it certainly wont do any harm, it's a muscle relaxant, it will help you breathe deeply and help to keep your emotions stable. I dont like the smell of it myself but it is an extremely beneficial oil. can be used later for baby too. it's one of the very few oils which are safe to treat babies. Can be used as a teething oil dropped on a cold flannel, can help calm a temp and induce sleep. That cant be bad can it!

clary sage is fine after 37 weeks if you're ready for baby.

greenlady78 · 30/12/2011 09:08

Argh, on my phone... Message sent without being finished!!! Anyway... Just to say hope everyone has a lovely day!!! Will our first baby on the thread be here today??? There is a lady in labour sitting opposite me and she looks angry... She is scaring me (blush)

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 30/12/2011 09:11

Heehee @ green reading Dracula!! Hope the blood test will be ok - sounds promising with lack of other symptoms. My MW recommended having a quick wash/wipe before giving urine samples as otherwise the outside of your body can introduce things to the sample, apparently. The only two times where I've had odd results have been where I'm struggling to go and have had to hold the pot close by, if you see what I mean Blush. Anyway hope that helps!

I actually don't have any more appts booked as things got messed up due to additional appts and holidays - should prob call today (38+1) and find out when they want to see me again...

GhosteditorOfChristmasPast · 30/12/2011 09:14

Xpost thank you for the reassurance re chamomile! And good luck - sounds a bit like latent labour to me, since it stops when you rest/relax. One thing is for sure - you'll get there in the end! Wink

MakesXmasCakesWhenStressed · 30/12/2011 09:17

Feel lots more cheerful today. Think yesterday I was still recovering from the awfulness of the IL visit the day before. Sorry about all the whingeing, I have very little to complain about really.

Am very excited as one of my best friends from Uni is coming over today. She lives in Sweden now and I haven't seen her since we visited them in September and before that it must have been April... so three times in one year is a rare treat and I'm very excited she'll get to see bump again before I pop! I didn;t think she'd be able to make the time.

Plus I get to see ghost and her DH tonight and get rid of share some of the many Xmas goodies we have - seems like every time we get guests we end up with more food than we started with! Insane amounts of chocolate. So nice to do some fun socialising rather than more godawful relatives. I was forced to go for two naps whilst the evil MiL was here - partly to escape and partly because they were just so blimming exhausting to have around!

green - what's she doing? Is she scowling at you? Muttering? Or just the thought of being in labour...?

Any news on the induced ones today...?

FrillyMilly · 30/12/2011 09:24

fish I'm quite prone to ulcers and get them when I'm run down. That's probably why you have them. I would really recommend corsodyl mouth wash. You (or DH) can pick it up in the supermarket. It's safe in pregnancy and amazing although not the nicest tasting. I see a difference straight away and ulcers usually all cleared up within a couple of days.

greenlady78 · 30/12/2011 09:31

Thanks ladies!

Hehehe I know ghost might go for a Jane Austen next time around! Smile

makescakes a big of both... I was foolish enough to look at her and smile and I don't think she liked it Blush note to self: do jog smile at labouring women, avoid eye contact at all costs

Note to self 2: when in labour try and smile :P
