Home now and DD requested to watch Santa Claus the Movie, so we are watching that with a cuppa T, until nanny picks her up just after 4pm :)

OiMissus · 25/11/2011 15:45

When I got up this morning, the skies were blue and the sun was shining. I decided to go for a walk around the countryside near me. ...by the time I'd had a bath and got dressed, the skies were black and the rain horizontal! What a miserable day!!
I want to watch Santa Claus the Movie!! Smile

hawthers · 25/11/2011 15:50

Forgot to say I love oi's suggestion for the new thread name

DarciesmumandBump2 · 25/11/2011 15:56

Oi Skies down here have been blue all day :)

figgygal · 25/11/2011 16:46

i have to say i am looking forward to the xmas tv this year so many times am at work and miss a muppets xmas carol or santa claus the movie but this year will be over indulging in all the xmas tat!!

msbuggywinkle · 25/11/2011 17:06

We had hail! The chickens were horrified, it was very funny.

DD1 decided to have a pretend birthday so we made chocolate cake, which was lovely and we're having satay noodles for dinner...I am bloody starving today!

Forgot to say yesterday, when I pulled my top up for the mw to check Miri's heart rate, the mw responded with 'wow! You're huge' you would think a mw would know better!

I also like oi's title suggestion.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 25/11/2011 17:13

Msbuggy an Unbirthday party cool :) lol @ your chickens

Oi I like your title suggestion too.

plupervert · 25/11/2011 18:17

msbuggywinkle, what was so horrific about hail? Did the chickens try to peck it and realise it was freezing their poor beaks? Confused

tyelperion, that's a commuting habit that needs to die, at least for a while!

cheep, did she put all this in writing? If so, great - you have a record, which you can show to others. Even if not, it's likely she hasn't put it in writing for anyone else, either, which means it doesn't exist, bureaucratically, as a "target".
You sound as though you have some good instincts, with regard to how to treat the points raised against you. Keep at it, or switch it off for your labour Smile

HoneyLovesCake, time to go to bed now! Just make sure you don't end up upside down in the bed or something! Wink

BeeMyBaby, oh, he's one of those, is he? Sorry, Honey was very sensitive when she said you might prefer to vent rather than hearing him slagged off, but that is ridiculous. Maybe he feels guilty at the contrast between your activities and so he should

Sorry to hear about the active bodies (rather than active babies). My baby has been so busy that I was reminded of a child in a pram, probably one who can already walk and is frustrated, who doesn't want to be there: that's what I seem to have! The womb is really no place for such a busy little creature, but there is no sign of labour.
Saw another preschool today, which was nice, but a lot further away than the first.
MIL's birthday tomorrow...
Actually, it feels as though we are quite busy on the outside, too, so perhaps it's just as well the baby is staying in and staying portable!

plupervert · 25/11/2011 18:28

Hahaha, the doorbell just went, and I ignored it. I am very sure it was someone who wanted to sell me something while standing in the cold, while I tried to get them to go away (as happened with the Sky people who came round recently).

Practice for the post partum period! Grin

Xiaoxiong · 25/11/2011 18:50

Ugh well I paid for it today. What a waste - laid in bed until lunchtime, when I moved to the sofa and I haven't gotten up since except to visit the bathroom (don't think there's anything left inside...sorry for TMI but you guys are used to it by now I think!) The baby has been moving a lot really low down, much lower than ever before...feels like it's about to put a fist through my cervix! Is it too much to hope that something could be happening??

I wish I could check my own cervix. That would be a skill to have.

I did read through all the information I could find about that homebirth/birth centre/hospital study that came out today...DH and I discussed the stat about a slightly higher risk for first time home birth compared to the hospital but the absolute risk is still so low that we agreed we are still confident going ahead - we're so close to the hospital that even if something happens we're practically in the labor ward already.

mrsbuggy I downloaded "the womanly art of breastfeeding" onto my phone - would you recommend it? if not, are there any books on breastfeeding you would recommend? I did try to follow the book's instructions to hand express just to see if I could get any colostrum out, since I was just lying here anyway and it was more exciting than Top Gear, but no luck - I'm probably doing it wrong, will look at a few videos on youtube.

jomouse · 25/11/2011 19:18

ha ha Tyel - i so know what you mean about the movements. They are so pronounced and so low now that it quite shocks me when there are movements. Right near my pubic bone. Feels very "struggly", as though it totally wants out into the wide world. Please stay put little one! Just a few more lie ins and I'll be ready for you
Does anyone know what actually triggers waters breaking (I know it doesn't have to herald the start of labour) but wondering if its baby movements that trigger the break or if its chemical/hormone induced?
I really like the Womanly Guide to Breastfeeding - only half way through though!

Have good evenings all, I'm going to chow down on a curry :)

kri5ty · 25/11/2011 19:18

Hey girls

Hope all of you with contractions are doing ok... hurry up babies!

Had reflexology today... just the normal one, she wouldn't work on womb/cervix as I'm only 37+4 ... but she did tell me I'm not ready for birth yet as the part on my foot that indicates it is still soft... she helped loads with my other symptoms though :) and I'm booked in for my due date to start the inducing movements!

BluebellsintheSpring · 25/11/2011 20:21

Oh Tyel hope this is the start of something or that you're feeling better soon!

Well my big sis who is expecting her first (EDD- 2 days after me) may well be having contractions this evening! I'm so excited for her though know well from this thread that contractions can start then disappear again. Not regular as yet but she felt weird/rubbish yesterday, is now feeling a lot of pain in lower back and irregular contractions so sounds like it could be the real deal.

I'm now sitting on my birthing ball hoping that such a thing as sympathy labour/filial link exists - wishful thinking on my part!

BluebellsintheSpring · 25/11/2011 20:25

Filial was supposed to say familial lol!

LittleMissHumbuggery · 25/11/2011 21:28

Sorry being quiet. Been a week. Rounding off with a cold. Bleh!

Hope that those contracting are having peaceful progress. Hoping everyone else is having a peaceful weekend.

Bed sounding tempting. Night all!

BeeMyBaby · 25/11/2011 21:52

cheep has been quiet for quite some time, I think we will definitely be getting a baby announcement soon :D

OiMissus · 25/11/2011 22:13

I am on my second little mug of mulled wine. Grin I'm not sure it has labour inducing qualities, but I'll give it a try just in case. Wink
(am also hoping it'll help me sleep. Pleeeease!)

aethelfleda · 25/11/2011 22:26

Evening... I was just reading the Christmas comments and wondering if about 2000 years ago there was this heavily pregnant chick writing on her clay tablet diary...

"Chatted to the girls again. Man, I am so SiCK of waiting for this baby! One of them swore blind that hauling my arse on a donkey and bumping up and down all the way to Bethlehem would get the little beggar moving. Worth a try??"

plupervert · 25/11/2011 22:29

Good one, aethelfeda!

She would also be confessing to strange and lurid dreams (check), moving house (check)...

BluebellsintheSpring · 25/11/2011 23:02

Mmm mulled wine - that's what I want.

My sister is now having regular contractions and has gone to hospital. I'm at a total loose end - def won't sleep tonight because I'm too excited and waiting to see what will happen! Tmrw was the date I selected for expecting baby to arrive in our earlier predictions but looks like it will be my sister's date instead! I am now trying to will myself into labour while dh rolls his eyes at me.

Hope Cheep you're doing okay. Looking forward to some baby announcements this weekend!

plupervert · 25/11/2011 23:07

There's always mulled cloudy apple juice, Bluebells. We're giving lots of it this Christmas, as it's so nice, and the kids can join in with the adults' present, too... It makes the house smell sooooo gorgeous.

jomouse · 25/11/2011 23:08

More nice news...from celeb land, Lily Allen has had a baby girl.
Good luck cheep! Hope we get news from you soon

BluebellsintheSpring · 26/11/2011 05:06

Oh - haven't slept a wink all night with the excitement but just heard my sister had a baby girl at 2.45am. I'm now convinced I'm having a girl as were the same shape and size throughout and craved all the same things!

Hope all is going well Cheep!

BluebellsintheSpring · 26/11/2011 06:13

I can't sleep - keep coming on in the hope that someone has posted some news! I've exhausted the scrabble option on my phone. Will have to make a determined effort to snooze now.

AwomancalledHorse · 26/11/2011 07:00

Congratulations to your sister Bluebells! Wish I knew someone else was awake all night, have been up since 3am!
Hope the mulled wine had the desired effect cheep.

Is it just me, or does everyone you know have this crappy cold/raspy throat virus atm?
