pully try not to worry too much, find something to do!

oi make sure you have time to lounge about too.

I really should do something useful today, but lack of sleep means I'm wooly headed. Might just set the DDs up with painting instead of something more interesting!

OiMissus · 21/11/2011 08:39

Yep, I want to spend a couple of hours this afternoon with my feet raised. My feet, ankles and legs (beyond my knees) are horribly swollen and have been for weeks.
So tidy and sort til lunchtime, rest for a few hours, then whatever...

BluebellsintheSpring · 21/11/2011 09:00

Go Seven hope all goes well from here on in and the contractions start soon! Exciting.

I slept reasonably well for once and just had one loo trip last night so v. happy this morning.

I'm torn between wanting baby to hurry up and wanting baby to stay in for another week or so! On the one hand - I'm uncomfortable and generally don't sleep well. On the other, as this is my first, really feel I should appreciate these last days of just suiting myself, planning my own routine and naps or lie ins whenever I choose! Also have moments of being extremely scared about the birth and then managing lo when she/he arrives but know those nerves are normal.

Hope everyone has a good day!

3rdOneComingUp · 21/11/2011 09:30

WOnder when we'll hear from seven.

mmmcheese i'm only 34+2 so it's far too early but her head is fully engaged. So could be nothing/ something everytime i feel a twinge.

SO heartening to hear of everyone wanting to put feet up. Exactly what i want to do as i'm knackered but have got two big projects to do before this baby comes. Working freelance comes at a cost, no definitive ML.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 21/11/2011 09:45

Wonder how Seven is getting on?

Must have the nesting feeling again... School run done, Hoovered & polishing downstairs done, 1 load washing in the dryer, another load in the washing machine, kitchen tidy - just needs going over with the flash, living room tidy, our room tidy, Darcies room tidyish (her job after school). Bathroom tidy - just needs going over with the limelite, wrapping to be done at some point today and then feet up with Greys Anatomy and cuppa T :)

HoneyLovesCake · 21/11/2011 09:47

Morning all & good luck seven! It's DP's birthday today & he's just about the best person I know so hopefully your DC will share a birthday with him Grin Hope your contractions have started!

We have successfully moved rooms; took a lot of work yesterday & my pelvis is killing me but we are now in a bright clean room that doesn't have polystyrene ceiling tiles or wallpaper peeling off the walls & apart from waiting for the bedside crib to arrive we are ready to go! It's my last week of work & I'm completely torn between wanting LO to come now & wanting at least a week of ML to pamper myself before I have to start pampering someone else Hmm

DarciesmumandBump2 · 21/11/2011 09:57

Honey Sounds good, but think you should def take it easy today.

bennybenbear · 21/11/2011 09:58

Good luck seven!

I am sat at work waiting to go into an executive committee meeting to present an annual report. Not fully prepared and with major baby brain! Just managed to spill water down me too! Think my first line will be 'bear with me I'm 38 weeks pregnant today!' lol!!

OI are u still feeling it from the labour inducing exercises yesterday at aquanatal?! I am! Wasn't sure I'd make it to work today and definitely finishing thursday now. I am just too jealous of u all discussing your ML plans!

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 21/11/2011 10:16

Hi ladies, am very rare poster to the antenatal thread, but am 36w and 4d, and wondered someting. I'll be at work (fingers crossed) til 37w 6d, and am not sure with it being my first, what to do if I get a 'show' before then?

I would stay off if my wates broke, or I was gettng cxn's, but I wasn't sure how a Show fits in, some have said they've been getting one for weeks, some its a pre-cursor of things happening imminently.

Argh!

LittleMissFlustered · 21/11/2011 10:22

LikeACandle I ignored my shows. In the general scheme of things they're pretty meaningless.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 21/11/2011 10:28

OK, thanks. Was planning on carrying on with work if I got one, but then didn't want MW or DM or someone saying "what?! you should be off, baby will be here v.soon"

bennybenbear · 21/11/2011 10:33

likeacandle i'm still working at 38 weeks today and don't finish till thurs. I've been 'told off' by mw at every appt since 34 weeks for still working but needs must!

I've always said to my work this is what I hope to do but they need to be flexible and they've been ok with that. Not sure they have much choice!!

Working has been harder but not too bad till the last week or so. I had planned to work week 39 too but decided to finish this week instead now. Just do what's best for you.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 21/11/2011 10:38

My MW was Hmm too when I told her I was working til then, but tbh, Stat Mat Pay is so dire that I feel I have to in order to have the time off afterwards. Hardest bit has been training my 'cover' lady who is totally new to the organisation. My brain hurts!!

My Mat Policy from work says if I call in sick any time from now, my Mat Leave starts automatically, which means I prett much HAVE to be there, OR its a good get-out clause without having a "I want to finish early" conversation Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 21/11/2011 11:02

I wasn't allowed to stay beyond 38 weeks with my first, it was apparently the rules. I went 12 days over, I was so bored!

OP posts:
msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 11:12

I worked right up to birth with DD1 as it turned out, started having mild contractions on the way home from work on a Friday! It is more tiring having the DDs to run round after, I am going to start working again when DD3 is 4 or so...no idea what I want to do with myself though, I'll have not worked for nearly 10 years, I might re-train but I have no idea as what!

lalababy · 21/11/2011 11:18

Hey all... was off for three days and it has taken me a fooking long time 3 hours to read all the posts and get up to speed! Sheesh!!!

Hope seven is going well... !!!

This is my last week at work...thank god! I am so over it... I feel so big... all I want to do it just relax, put my massive (swelling) feet up and take nana naps!

mrsbuggy or anyone else... quick question... the baby was head down at 34 weeks... what are the chances that he has flipped back to breech? Only asking coz I still have this pain under ribs and on my right side like something is stuck there. Also how can you tell the baby's position... I have no idea if he is in a good position or back to back!!!

HoneyLovesCake · 21/11/2011 11:19

LikeACandle I'm 38+3; as this is my first I had naively planned on working until contractions started Grin but have decided that this is my last week...I will be working until Friday, Sunday latest so will be 39, possibly 39+2. It hasn't been easy but I would ignore Dr's or MW's opinions...if you feel well enough to work & you aren't working yourself too hard then go for it! Just don't exhaust yourself; I have had the occasional day of working too hard when I thought if I go into labour right now I won't be able to handle it :( don't do that to yourself; no job is worth it!

KateM77 · 21/11/2011 11:47

Good luck seven I hope the contractions start naturally. The same thing happened for me with DD. The hospital gave me 36 hours for labour to start naturally and then wanted to induce. We persuaded them to give us another day because everything was fine with both me and DD when they monitored me. In the event I was induced after 60 hours, but glad we got the extra time. Just telling you this so that you know you potentially have more time than you think before needing to resort to induction.

Look forward to hearing yor birth announcement Grin

kri5ty · 21/11/2011 11:51

seven good luck!! :o

Had mw today... since my 20 week scan nugget has been head down in the perfect position... today found out he is posterior!! Awkward son!

I know being on all 4s will help to turn, what else? I can't remember!

msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 12:24

lala stuck under your ribs could quite easily be heels, what kind of movement do you feel there?

kri5ty inversions off the sofa (hanging upside down) for about 30 seconds, while you're on all fours the cat-cow yoga positions will help, circling on a birth ball will help baby to tuck their chin under properly.

As far as working out position goes, take a pen and divide your bump into quarters. Then when baby moves think about what kind of movements they are. Make a note on yourself as it might take a while to feel everything you need to! Small jerky movements (not hiccups) are arms, big jerky movements are feet. If you have a good feel when baby is moving, hard and round is head, softer and round is bum. If you can find the bum, you can follow the curve of their spine if they are ROA or LOA, if they are posterior you'll be feeling (& seeing!) arms and leg movements on the outside.

OiMissus · 21/11/2011 12:46

I've done loads! Nesting finally kicked in. It's DH's fault. I had a moan about the state of the house last night, and he said there "was nothing we could do - with flat pack furniture boxes everywhere etc, people will visit and it'll be a bit messy."
I can't have that. So, have moved around the furniture boxes, and some furniture, tidied up the dining room, and cleaned and tidied the bedroom. Grin
The house is now ready to welcome a baby and guests!
Now enjoying French toast and Loose Women. Grin

sevensevenseven · 21/11/2011 12:49

pully it was me that predicted Monday!

Thanks for all of the well wishes. Hospital want to keep me in for obs for 24-48 hours. Still no contractions and I'm not dilating yet. I'm being given antibiotics to stop DD getting an infection. They want me to go until 37 weeks if possible (currently 35+6). I also might have a urine infection but won't know until they've sent another sample to the lab.

Hope everyone else has a good day!

KateM77 · 21/11/2011 13:01

seven thanks for the update. Hope you manage to hold on until 37 weeks then. I should have said that when it happened to me I was 36 + 6 so they were happy for me to have DD then. As you said, it's infection they're most concerned about. Hope you have a good supply of books and magazines to keep you occupied whilst you're in

OiMissus · 21/11/2011 13:19

Good to hear from you seven. are you disappointed that it's not happening? ( although whilst obviously happy that the baby will go more toward full term).
Can I just say to everyone start drinking cranberry juice to try and ward off urine infections?
Evil infections!!

sevensevenseven · 21/11/2011 13:25

oi I am a bit :(. I know obviously the closer I go to term the better but DS was fine and I'm now past that point.

Can I just share what I've learnt so far today? If you have to go to hospital after waters have gone take at least 2 spare pairs of trousers and loads of pants! Also massive massive pads! I don't see the point in using my supply of maternity pads yet but I soaked through a large always ultra in an hour! I've had to send DH home for more trousers for me and to buy me some more absorbant pads. He's bringing my knitting though so at least I can be productive whilst I'm here!
