Well im feeling a bit of an anti-climax on your behalf seven! But obviously best if you can make it to 37 weeks.

I am now allowed out of bed but have to take it easy still. Spent the morning nesting as so many things ive wanted to get done in the last 7 weeks but not been allowed.

Weirdly, baby has turned so now LOL rather than ROA, not sure when that happened as didnt feel any big movements. Can feel hiccups in my left side and kicks on the right. Feels strange as had kicks on left side for months!

cheeptrick · 21/11/2011 13:37

To add to sever's post : If your water brakes, waterproof pads/mats for the car, your bed and the sofa are a good idea.

My waters went first with son and i had to walk at 9pm at night all the way to the deliverey ward leaving a trail behind me thru the hospital, it was so embarrassing. Then they sent me home again so i had to walk all the way back too. They give me 48h to labour before they wanted to induce me.

So i too recommened big pads and spare jeans.

I have had no swelling of hands or feet so far but i know once i give birth i will swell up, so i'm just trying to find big lose fitting slippers but having no look Sad

mopsytop · 21/11/2011 13:43

cheep how about those slipper socks (with the grippy stuff on the feet)? Might be quite warm for hospital but doesn't matter if you swell ...

OiMissus · 21/11/2011 13:55

Slipper sox don't work well with swollen ankles/feet. Even though you wouldn't notice the elastic top normally, they leave ridges in your skin when you're swollen. Sad I hide my swollen abominations in the slipper things that are Ugg styled (but cheap versions).

OiMissus · 21/11/2011 13:56

Will go and put the maternity sheet thing on the bed now. Smile

LittleMissFlustered · 21/11/2011 14:03

Primark do cheap uggy slipper things. Usually in knitted garish colours so you can't lose them:)

Thanks for the update seven Keep occupied and try not to stab epilepsy with your pointy sticksWink

I have mat on the bed, two spare in the car and a winter duvet on the sofa just in case Grin I also take my moblie to the bathroom with me as its the most likely place for your waters to go, and i can ring DH if i need help Blush

I have wide calfs as well so its really tricky finding boots that fit. I have crocs but i'm not sure they will still fit the first few days after birth. I might just by 2x size bigger mules and hope they fit?

3rdOneComingUp · 21/11/2011 14:42

Oh seven i didn't realise how early you are. Did you get a steroid injection? Crossing fingers that nothing happens for at least a week and your baby makes every use of every minute to get RL ready!

BeeMyBaby · 21/11/2011 14:45

cheep I would have thought crocs would fit as your feet only get wider not longer?

I felt inspired by seven this morning so ran up to the second floor at work (very high old building) twice to try to bring on labour - all I got was lousy BHs. So to sum up - excersise does not help (did a 5 mile dog walk on sat and sunday and didn't even get BH).

sevensevenseven · 21/11/2011 14:51

3rd they're not worried about steroids, a week earlier and I would have had them.

Im fed up already and very uncomfy, she's a lot lower now without the fluid there so there's a lot of pelvic pressure. I was expecting to be in labour by now tbh, my waters broke nearly 9 hours ago! I hope she's as impatient as her mummy is!

3rdOneComingUp · 21/11/2011 15:00

seven try and relax and keep that cervix snapped shut! There are reasons why they like to keep baby's in till term, though they can fully cope with those born early. grab any extra pillows, get comfy and eat loads of carbs get your strength up.

DS had lung issues (incompetent staff in a foreign hospital) so i'm interested, that's all. He had immature not premature lungs though.

mopsytop · 21/11/2011 15:01

Bee very jealous of your 5 mile walk! I have to pee ALL the time. The most I can manage is a mile without needing to find a loo ... very frustrating!

lalababy · 21/11/2011 15:08

Mrsbuggy so this is what I have come up with... I know that the baby is head down (says so in my notes)... I feel a fluttery type feeling on both sides just above my pubic bone... hands?feet?

I feel kicky type things on the right hand side in the middle (where the 2 quadraents meet)

Feel a outward pressure rather than any kicking on my lower rib.

I am getting v worried that the baby is posterior :(

msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 15:14

mmm great that you're allowed up, it must feel good.

I'm exhausted, haven't done anything either beyond feeding and breaking up fights for the DDs! Still, they have 2 play dates planned this week so I'm not feeling too guilty. Going to do carbonara for tea because it is quick, I feel like I'm in survival mode really, or maternity leave from Home education!

msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 15:19

lala it does sound likely that baby is posterior, but honestly even if you can't shift them before labour the vast majority of them turn in labour. I've birthed two babies who were posterior all the way out and it doesn't always mean long hard extra painful labours, mine were 7 and 4 hours and DD2's birth was painless. Suggestions for turning them are up thread, but as a last resort you could also try a chiropractor as it can sometimes be to do with a mis-alignment in your pelvis

fusam · 21/11/2011 15:26

seven good luck and try to get some rest! Thanks for the info on waters breaking.

3rd My hospital were insistent that they would not go a day before 39wks which concided with Chrimbo. Apparently they don't do elcs on bank hols so 28th is the earliest, bah never mind.

hawthers · 21/11/2011 15:28

hmm lala now thinking that DC is posterior as well. have feet type bumps popping out of my bump above my tummy button which should have a nice big bum sticking out of it. me thinks my lazing on the sofa feet up and crossed days are over and its birthing ball and hand and knees from now on.... hopefully at 35+4 there is good time for him/her to turn into a better position.

on the bright side i've only got one more day left at work after today and i was taken out to lunch at claridges with some clients to say goodbye. the adorable client (more likely his wife) has bought some gorgeous baby clothes from paris for me as a goodbye gift. nearly wept in the middle of the dining room. too nice!

hawthers · 21/11/2011 15:29

forgot to say seven hang on in there - hope that things either pick up or they let you go home soon

x

cheeptrick · 21/11/2011 15:34

Gerr my son is droping his afternon naps. He is so tired right now and grumpy but not going to sleep. He does sleep 12h at night but some days he needs a sleep in the afternoon and others he doesn't and then gets grumpy and starts hit, biting, throwing things at me. Its so doing my head in. I know its just a phase and he is getting ready to drop it and start school but its so annoying when i can see he needs sleep but he will not go no matter what i do.

Sorry rant over - i need my afternoon nap i'm so tired Sad

I will just stick with my crocs and hope they fit when i swell up.

BluebellsintheSpring · 21/11/2011 15:48

Cheep that doesn't sound like much fun. Hope you get some rest.

Seven - v. frustrating for you. Hope you're doing okay.

3rdOneComingUp · 21/11/2011 15:51

fusam oh well, i suppose it's what's best for the baby! What will they do if you go into labour before hand?

Ladies with posterior can the babies change even after they've engaged?

msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 15:54

cheep I am right with you with DD2! She would like to nap at about 5pm, every 2/3 days but there is just no way I can let her go to sleep then so we have very hairy evenings with her getting overtired until she eventually drops at about 8.

cheeptrick · 21/11/2011 16:09

Thank you MsBuggy, i feel so much better know its not just us. I know its a phase but its so hard, he turns in to a little monster when overtired and he will want to sleep at 4 or 5pm but then will be up at 4 or 5am if i let him. His behaviour is just so hard to deal with at the mo as i'm pg and DH is disabled so its mostly me that has to try to calm him down.

You would think if they are tired they will be sleepy but its the oppersite my son gets gets hyper and bounces of the walls, running, screaming and throwing things and laughing about all of it Sad

I'm so not looking forward to the next few months with his terrible two's, sleep issue and a newbaby.

I'm worried that he will recent the new baby cos she will have mummymilk and he can't. Every time i bath him or he comes into my bed i have to put a top on or he will try to get latched on and when i cover up he bites me Sad He wanted to stop but its as if when he see's my breasts he remebers and wants some milk!

Maybe i'm just emotional right now but i can't help worrying how its going to work with two children.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 21/11/2011 16:20

looks like everyone has had a busy day. Hope everyone can put their feet up and have a relaxing night.

Took my nan for a health MOT today so its all out the way and bless her she may have osteoporosis in her spine..had an xray of the spine so just got to wait a week for the results.

Got in about 10mins ago since being out at 10am this morning, shattered.com but have some wrapping to do once DD is in bed.

Seven Good to hear from you :)

msbuggywinkle · 21/11/2011 16:30

cheep I found it sooooo much easier having a newborn and a toddler than a toddler and being pregnant! I think partly it is easier for them to understand when they can actually see the baby.

With bfing, he might ask when the baby is born and we generally say that if you can agree to let him try do. Chances are he won't remember how to bf, but the fact that you are willing to let him try means that he can see that it isn't something that is special for the baby only...it might lose its allure! Alternatively, if you can get bfing the little one in a sling, toddlers don't generally notice that you're bfing!

DD2 also becomes a furious demon when tired! She has an ear-splitting scream that she uses every time DD1 even speaks to her, she grows things, screams 'go away' and hits DP if he looks at her in the wrong way...it is exhausting!
