Hi, I am five and and half weeks pregnant with baby number two. However I had MC last July at six weeks so very nervous as well as excited. I am due a six week scan on Friday to check if all is well so far. Because of this we haven't told anyone except my parents which is really hard as last time we told all the family but it was a strain listening to their attempts at sympathy when it when wrong. So here I am to announce to anyone that cares to listen that after six months I am pregnant again!! Yeah.

noriesmum - glad and sad for you at the same time - even if you are not sure it's a good idea, it's still disappointing when you think you might be pg and then you're not.
I have started thinking about hospitals and the birth now, as the doctor mentioned it yesterday. had a normal delivery last time, but hospital was awful came out infected episiotomy - nice. We moved house in may so with a different health authority, so going to do my research better this time.
Has anyone ever experienced or thought about a water birth?
p.s. sorry to be thick - what's a VBAC?

curlygirl · 10/01/2006 09:30

Hi, can I join in? I am 5 wks pregnant approx with my second baby, my dd is 13 mnths. I also had a miscarriage in November so I didn't have a period prior to concieving again. I sympathise with everyone who has had a similar experience. I feel as though I daren't get to excited about this baby in case it ends in tears again. I had a misc prior to having my dd also so I am keeping my fingers firmly crossed. Congrats to all

curlygirl · 10/01/2006 09:31

VBAC is a vaginal birth after cesarean

mabel1973 · 10/01/2006 09:33

forgot to say coriander and mootoo, apart from boobs feeling a bit harder and a bit of a heavy feeling I don't have any symptons either.
I think headache and sicky thing on sunday was just me having an off day - it didn't feel like morning sickness and I haven't felt like it since.
Don't worry - I am sure all the symptoms will hit us all soon like a truck .....!

mabel1973 · 10/01/2006 09:38

Hi Curlygirl - congratulations
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage I hope everything will be fine for you.
Your DD is the same age as my DS.....I wasn't sure if it was a bit close together, but I am sure i'll cope - somehow!!

Thanks for the good wishes. This site is really great for times like this. I am too early to tell anyone I know, but at the same time I have been bursting to tell everyone. Now I feel that I have, so thanks all.

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 13:11

Congrats Curlygirl......have you worked out an EDD?

compo · 10/01/2006 13:21

here you are! Hpe it's okay if I join this thread. Only got my BFP last ight so still feel a bit wary. My last period started 7th Dec so I think I'm due sometime in September. Haven't been to the doctor yet as there computers are down and they aren't booking any appointments... grrrr... Feels like it'll be a long wait til the 12 week scan

calvemjoe · 10/01/2006 13:42

Congrats on your BFP's compo and curlygirl!
Cori, after 30 hours of labour (and only 5cm's dilated, talk about feeling like you're getting nowhere!) they told me i was going to lose my little boy and he needed delivering by ecs. The hospital were great but I went into shock afterwards and can't remember anything of the first 2 weeks after he was born. For the whole of the first 6 months I just felt like i was watching this new mum and her baby from a distance. I had panic attacks if I was left alone but wouldn't let anyone else help me cause I was so worried I would lose him. If I could be promised a nice straightforward birth (I know - no chance)then I would feel more confident, but a small part of me knows that I could go down the same path as I did last time again and whilst I know I am stronger this time, I don't know if I'm strong enough.

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 13:57

Hi Compo..you've found me!

Calvemjoe...I'm really sorry to hear your story. All I can say is based on your experience perhaps it would be better to have a pre elective cs & at least you know you want have to go through labour & run the risk of anything similar happening...although the chances have to very very small. I do want a VBAC but the more I think about it the more I'm warming to a cs again (not that the first was planned obvioulsy). My big gripe is that I was under a general & didn't see her being born. Unbeknown to me at the time my womb didn't contract & I lost a lot blood & was kept in surgery for a further 4 hours when they told my DH I'd be out in 5 mins!!! So I came around in the recovery room to DH bawling his eyes out telling me it's been horrible & he thought I'd died...! I was so out of it I just nodded..it did take me 3 months before I bonded with her...couldn't understand what all the fuss was about & wondering where this "love" comes from....but although it will be at the back of mind come Sep, I know I'm stronger & will deal with whatever comes my way & so will you!

mabel1973 · 10/01/2006 14:27

coriander and calvemjoe when I read what you had both been through previously, it made me realise how lucky I was. I didn't have the easiest time, but in comparison I'm sure it was a breeze. I really hope things are more straight forward for you both this time and I imagine it is a big decision to make to have an elective cs when you'd prefer to have the option to do it as nature intended.
I am sure (at least I am hoping) that second time round you go in armed with a bit more knowledge and experience, which means the whole experience isn't quite so frightening.

calvemjoe · 10/01/2006 15:29

It's nice (not sure if that's the right word) to know that someone has been through something similar cori and can understand were i'm coming from.
Mabel, I'm hoping experience makes it easier to cope with 2nd time round aswell.

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 18:57

Am always here if you want to chat

It will be OK second time...it has to be. Knowledge is power they say so start thinking about your options...you'll be fine

Compo, I reckon that makes you about the 12th September?!!

compo · 10/01/2006 19:01

I'm not sure I think we might have conceived on 23rd Dec. When did everyone go to the doctor. Should I be making an appointment asap?

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 19:06

I thought that your EDD is from the date of yr last period rather than when you think you conceived? Probably wrong...! Re doctors, I had an appt anyhow & told her about the pg etc. Where I live it's midwife-led care so she gave me all my forms etc & told me to contact midwife when approx 8 weeks. I guess you can go anytime to get booked on the system...

Still smiling?!...

compo · 10/01/2006 19:07

Tbh I think I'm in shock!!! That's great about doing the dates from 1st day of last period cos it's means I'm further on No symptoms at all here. How about you?

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 19:11

Well...nothing to report! No symptoms as such, just boobs feel bigger & a little bit sore...am half expecting to throw up at some point & then maybe it'll feel a bit more real!!! I guess given the size & the fact it's only 5 weeks for me maybe no surprise I can't feel much going on...

Cadbury · 10/01/2006 19:16

compo - Have I met you? Did you used to have a different name? (sorry for hijack)

compo · 10/01/2006 19:17

Yes, hiya!!!! I used to be vict17 How are you? How did you work that out?

Cadbury · 10/01/2006 19:18

I'm fine - thought it was you. Have been wondering where you had got to!!! Congratulations btw!

benjaminsmum · 10/01/2006 22:16

Hi, had a great day shopping for whole day with my mum while dh looked after ds. Only slightly marred by feeling sick for most of it! YEAH. Although I think just five minutes a day for reassurance will do nicely.

Congrats to curlygirl and compo. Compo any other ds/dd's?

Coriander73 · 11/01/2006 09:08

Good luck Julezboo....

compo · 11/01/2006 09:14

Morning everyone. Good luck Julezboo with the scan today. Benjaminsmum - yes, one 21 month ds. Still can't get an appointment with my gp because their bloomin computers are down (typical) but I guess there's no great urgency. Start of last period was 6th December so due date is 12th Sept until scan tells me any different. Such a long wait until 12 week scan isn't it. Think it will be about 14th March
