Hi, I am five and and half weeks pregnant with baby number two. However I had MC last July at six weeks so very nervous as well as excited. I am due a six week scan on Friday to check if all is well so far. Because of this we haven't told anyone except my parents which is really hard as last time we told all the family but it was a strain listening to their attempts at sympathy when it when wrong. So here I am to announce to anyone that cares to listen that after six months I am pregnant again!! Yeah.

Mabel, that's awful...call your midwife direct & don't take any nonsense!! I did find in my experience with DD that there seemed to be a permanent war between midwives & doctors....I was lucky & only saw the doctor once & then had the same midwife who was bloody brilliant all the way through. I do believe though is a bit of a lottery postcode in terms of who treats you etc....one thing for sure is that you can't wait until 13 weeks!!!!

Noriesmum, when's af actually due?

benjaminsmum · 09/01/2006 13:03

Hi everyone, Mabel get back on the phone and sort them out, that is rediculous. Do you have a EDD yet?

Congrats Perpetua and Topbanana, when are you due?

Any result yet Noriesmum? You are keeping us in suspense.

A lady at toddlers told us that she is eight weeks pregnant this morning and it took all my, very limited, willpower not to say anything but we really want to wait till twelve week scan before telling the world which is why this site is so great.

Julezboo when is your scan due?

My ds is not particularly cuddly or kissy. He is gorgeous and enjoys snuggling up for stories or to watch Thomas but not cuddles for cuddles sake. Unless of course it is a child his age in which case he doesn't leave them alone!

Greatest congratulation to you september 2006 mums in waiting. Just popping in from the September 2005 thread. This is a scary time the first 12 weeks, especially for those that have had problems before. All the very best - be thinking of you xxxxxx

Simplyred · 09/01/2006 15:33

mabel1973 - I went to see my doctor in a stressed state saying I really needed to get a scan - He arranged one for 7 weeks. A scan before 7 weeks will show very little as I understand the little heart switches on at 6-7 weeks which is a great reassurance to see. I'd go to gp again and lay it on thick! Best of luck

mabel1973 · 09/01/2006 15:35

I managed to speak to the midwife this afternoon, she has brought my appointment forward to a week on wednesday (yay!). She told me that it would have to be a home visit rather than me going to the surgery - well I had assumed it was a home visit anyway - I would've been sitting there for a very long time waiting for her to turn up! The receptionist failed to mention that to me.... is that unusal or is it just me? I assumed all booking in appointments were at home.
Anyway - it's all good
Best of luck with your scan julezboo

julezboo · 09/01/2006 15:36

thanks Mabel

Simplyred · 09/01/2006 15:37

mabel1973 - Sorry I got the wrong end of the stick - I'll stop sticking my beak in!

mabel1973 · 09/01/2006 15:40

that's ok - nice to know you're concerned

Perpetua · 09/01/2006 16:19

Mabel I can sympathise with you about the scan...I called my GP office Friday and made an appt. w/ the nurse for a pregnancy test and she was telling me how it can take weeks to get booked in by the mid-wife but lucky for me she chased her down in the office and the nurse insisted that the mid-wife see me between patients!

Thankfully she saw me...basically she just took a medical history, asked for the gory details for previous pregnancy and weighed me...she said it will be about 8 wks before they do my scan...they aren't sure if I'm 5 wks or 9 wks and prefer I be at least 10-12 weeks along before they do the scan.

Much different than the procedure in the U.S but I'll just have to embrace the differences as my other babies were born in the states.

Now...I am starting to panic over my job ahh the joys of motherhood!

fastasleep · 09/01/2006 16:39

Hi again julez my MSN is now [email protected] but I'm barely ever on there due to a mad toddler screaming baby and my breastpump (I express instead of breastfeeding..again! Sigh!).. I hope it all goes well for you and that those ginger tablets help!

Coriander73 · 09/01/2006 16:57

Hmm..I Just wanted to say that I had a scan at 5+ 4 weeks in NZ first time round. They couldn't do a normal scan so they used a vaginal probe & there was the heartbeat!!....If anybody wants / needs an early scan it can be done despite the doctors fobbing you off here...I was the otherside of the world when we found out that I was pg. Started to have heavy bleeding & voila a scan was organised at the Christchurch hospital which greatly put our minds at rest. Of course the 5 + 4 bubba was & I quote " snot"!! But the heartbeat was there & it was just incredible to think something that small was alive & kicking....

Coriander73 · 09/01/2006 16:59

PS: Excellent news Mabel!!

TopBanana · 09/01/2006 17:05

Hi Everyone

Good look to all you guys going for scans.

I only had 1 with dd at 20wks so hoping to have one at 12wks too this time.

I haven't even been to the GP yet, app booked for Thursday morning.

Boss sent me home from work early today due to me been sick and feeling light headed so had to tell him why

Coriander73 · 09/01/2006 17:12

What did he say?!! My boss (career woman, director, 39 , no children...you've got the picture) is going to be very pissed off...just as she always has been ever since DD arrival. Got some time yet...although I did start to show at 9 weeks last time!!!

TopBanana · 09/01/2006 17:19

He thought I was joking for about an hour

Bet everyone will know when I go in tomorrow!!

He was really nice after and said he'd find out about pay and stuff for me

Noriesmum · 09/01/2006 18:36

I think af was due on Sat. Went to chemist but they only had clearblue - will have to go to town and try boots to get a First Response. Which now means i have to wait til tomorrow. I cant get online line at work most of the time, but i will let you know as soon as i find out

Noriesmum · 09/01/2006 19:34

Well, decided to go to supermarket and get a test anyway. Went to test and found that AF had FINALLY decided to pay a visit. Feel relieved on the one hand that i get more special time with my ds who is only 8.5mths old, but a litle tiny weenie bit sad.

I wish you all tons of luck and best wishes with your pregnancies.

Love Noriesmum

calvemjoe · 09/01/2006 19:42

My Ds is a right mummy's boy - loves his daddy for rough and tumble but wants me for love and cuddles.
Coriander, I too am desperate for a VBAC but the thought of labour is already giving me nightmares and I am begining to think that an elective cs is the only way I am going to be able to relax. I can't face the thought of being told again that I'm gonna lose my baby.
Congrats to all the BFP's and I hope you get the result you want Noriesmum. x

benjaminsmum · 09/01/2006 19:53

Noriesmum I am glad the result is one that you don't mind. A bit of a bugger though when you get hopeful. Will miss you on site.

To whoever was asking I had a vaginal scan last week at five weeks and five days and there was a heartbeat.

Fastasleep Any news yet. I hope it is what you want.

I am glad I am not the only one already worring about what is going to happen in seven and a half months!

OP posts:
calvemjoe · 09/01/2006 19:58

I think it's cause I know what i'm in for. I didn't worry at all last time, but then again, I didn't know.....

BabbleAndPantsMama · 09/01/2006 20:27

Lurk lurk!

Got a wierd feeling, very achy boobs and am due on Friday. I'm a regular but don't want to let anyone know there is a possiblity yet!

Coriander73 · 10/01/2006 06:48

Calvemjoe....what happened last time? & yes...I do want a VBAC...but hey it's not as if I'm looking fw to labour & pushing it out!!!

BTW, am only 5 weeks but still no major symptoms...should I be concerned or just try & relax? Boobs are harder but nothing else & I just wish I had a sign that all was well....IYSWIM?

mootoo · 10/01/2006 08:34

Coriander - i know how you feel. I am 5+5 and feel nothing. I don't know whether to be pleased or not. Concerned now that i am not really pregnant! I have made an appointment with doc, but the earliest available was next monday - oh well. I had an emergancy c/s last time, so am in a tizz about the birth - i am trying not to think about it at the mo!
