ParsleyLion1 · 09/11/2011 16:16

Not good giraffe. Hope it at least doesn't take too long to sort out.

I just got called in to GP to discuss blood test results. Glucose test was above what it should be so need to moderate diet. They didn't have a diet sheet tho. Sad

Fryn · 09/11/2011 16:21

giraffe d'oh! I managed to lose DH's mobile whilst on holiday - I can only think it fell down a drain when I got out of the car (what's the actual likelihood of that happening, eh?) which proved rather expensive for me. I feel your pain!

Parsley - sorry to hear that, and annoying about the diet sheet too. This pregnancy malarky really isn't a walk in the park, is it?

ParsleyLion1 · 09/11/2011 16:50

To be honest the GP didn't really know what to do next as it was raised but not full blown GD I need to discuss with the MW on tues to find out what to do next.

Murriams · 09/11/2011 16:58

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone else on this thread lives in the Pontypridd area? I know no-one in the area and had been looking forward to meeting other mums and the ante-natal classes but they have been cancelled!

Wormshuffler · 09/11/2011 17:03

Oh no giraffe! How much shall we bet that you find them as soon as you have shelled out for a new set ........ I once thought my purse had been stolen from my house. Called the police, cancelled the cards, went around all the neighbours to warn them to lock their front doors, then found it in the utility room!!
Thanks for sending me the link to the fb group fish it wouldnt let me on there so I have PM'd you my name and description! I can't wait to see what we all look like! I have pictures in my head of you all!

GiraffeAHolic · 09/11/2011 17:16

Oh it gets better, £174 and takes 2 - 3 working days to get the new key through. And we have to somehow get the car to the garage.

Well this day gets better and better.

ParsleyLion1 · 09/11/2011 17:27

£174Shock. That's outrageous.

shonnomanom · 09/11/2011 17:48

Oh giraffe!! That Sucks. Bet the garage will charge you to uplift the car to get it to the garage as well.

Hopefully the MW will be better than the GP parsley

Murriams I might be wrong but I dont think anyone on this thread is from that area. When are you due? Your more than welcome to stick around for some virtual support, we're a friendly and chatty bunch x

SO, it turns out the delay in getting this place baby organised has worked in our favour. We got a phonecall today from a family member offering us a cot. Thank goodness we hadnt got round to actually buying one yet - phew!

OP posts:
trubble · 09/11/2011 18:01

Seems to be the day for cars. It's going to cost me 350 just to get the window working. That plus the other fault - grrr it's been an expensive day!!!
Here's hoping the week gets better

knittiekitty · 09/11/2011 18:04

Hya, very long time no log on here.

Poor Giraffe - that's so much money, I hope they give you a spare for that price too?
My elderly in-laws came to help us cover 3 days of October half term and ended up staying until this week. They're lovely but really hard work. I made up lots of time at work but got really tired trying to juggle laundry and cooking what they'll eat. I think the worst bit was that they brought and worked through a carrier bag of cakes, biscuits and chocs, as they knew we're not having much in to try and help my gest diabetes. Or maybe it was spending my birthday driving them to the shops they wanted to go to. Or possibly when Mil ruined my best (only) cookie sheet as she'd used it to bake their lunch pasties and she scrubbed off the non-stick. Or them sitting silently in front of the tv all evening, then talking loudly in their room until near midnight. Not sure and I could go on! They only come up once or twice a year and DD adores them, so I feel disloyal whinging but it was very tough. Dh was a hero but there was only so much he could do without it seeming that we were unwelcoming and mean.
My GD has stopped responding to my strict no sugar diet (which hasn't helped my mood, & have been Desperate for chocolate solace) and I have to start Metformin this week. Baby has reached 95th centile for everything since being average sized at 20 week scan so they need to slow her down. I'm busting out of my maternity stuff so really hope the tablets work quick else I'll just pop soon. I'm also fed up of cheese oatcakes and apples for snacks so hope I can relax a bit with help of some drugs!
Apologies for the whining - that does feel a bit better! Hope everyone is ok and in better spirits than I've been!

greenlady78 · 09/11/2011 18:24

knittie I know exactly how you feel...I had DH's grandfather visiting us (only 4 days) but by the end of it I was soooo tired of just running around trying to cater for his needs, listening to him reading from a crazy book and just sitting on the sofa all day waiting to be fed, etc I also felt horrible for getting annoyed at him (obviously hid it very well) but I think I am just looking forward to some quiet time with DH...he is going away on business again for another week...to be honest not looking forward to Xmas when MIL will be here for almost a week...

On a different note hope the pills work and you can have a rest from worrying!!!

giraffe that is truly annoying!!!

parsley hope the MW can help you with proper advice...

I had my Labour & Parenting Workshop on Monday and Tuesday all day...it was really useful but some bits were a bit too clinical...

Here is hoping that everyone will feel better soon! I am in so much pain today, no idea why, knees hurt, legs hurt, ribs hurt.... Sad

Mum2be79 · 09/11/2011 18:26

I don't understand these percentile things. Can anyone explain it?

I went for my 'weekly' MW appointment today (at least that's what it is going to bE now!). BP up, though not overly concerning, protein in urine but no swelling. So symptomatic pre-eclampsia whatever that is?!?

I got a print out of my swab tests. GBS and another infection (?). I need to be given IV antibiotics 4 hours before I deliver. My face told the MW what I was thinking! Anyhow, she said go in as soon as labour starts. Baby will be monitored for 24 hours, swabbed and given IV antibiotics for a while if positive.

Also she thinks I've had a 'show'???? Confused So tonight, I am packing my bags. I said I hadn't noticed anything (how will I - don't know what I'm looking for) but my underwear did have a wet patch on this morning but I didn't think much of it. So, even though everyone believes baby may come before Christmas, I told them them to hang on to their hats cos it may be before end of November!!!

fishandlilacs · 09/11/2011 18:37

Hello murriams welcome to the thread, everyone say hello-she's looking for mummy mates in wales. I think you may have bypassed her with all our chattiness. :)

Wormshuffler · 09/11/2011 19:06

Wow a show already! I didnt get mine until i was in labour for 5 hours! oh and just in case anyone gets scared, they often have blood in them, mine did and I really panic ed but its normal apparently. How exciting!! The percentiles thing is a chart in your notes which shows the average growth of bump during PG and once here the baby right into toddlerhood. The average is the 50th centile, they look for you to stay along the same line really. A 90th centile baby isnt necessarily a problem as it may just be a heavier child, after all, everyone comes in different shapes and sizes. Going above the 90th they like to check as it may make birth more problematic.

Hi murriams I am not wales, but welcome!!

Knittie I feel your pain, it sounds just like when I have to go to the in-laws, trhey have moved to the other end of the country...... I would usually say grab a Wine to take the edge off, but in your condition it will have to be a Brew Grin

mummyzoe2012 · 09/11/2011 19:25

i started my leave at the begining of the month, 1 months hols and mat leave starts 1st dec.

Ame has been a little tinker today wiggling about all day lovely but so annoying when your trying to have a nap.

feeling a hell of a lot better today!! went to the parent and toddlers/bumps group today and it was realy good, starting to make mummy freinds in my area now.!!!

Oeisha · 09/11/2011 20:34

mia Confused Like others have said, hang on to the 90%.

giraffe Oh no! Tis a shocking amount for a friggin key.

parsley Sad I'm guessing there aren't, otherwise you like to think they'd have pointed you there, but aren't there any online resources/versions? If I wasn't soo fucking tired I'd have a good hunt for you.

murriams Alas, I'm not, but hang around and moan with us! Grin

kittie Your inlaws sound like my parents, only my parents also comment on how shit a job at being a human I am (ok, not quite that direct, but always comments on my 'career', lack of driving, lack of 'tidiness' blah blah). Well done for getting through it without going totally BSM.

mum2be crikey! A show! No guarantee of anything as apparently almost anything can cause a show (sex, speculum, particularly harsh sneeze). MW told me to note it and carry on with life! Helpful...
What worm said for centiles. Just a gague of LO's development against 'the rest' of the population. Centiles 90% and up and 10% and lower can indicate issues, but it could just mean a big or small baby. It's not usually the centile in itself that indicated an issue, it's the centile + 'symptom' or 'issue' (like GD, or family history of heart problems etc) that they'll look for.

I've had another one of THOSE days. Can't even be bothered to rant about it, but lets just say I didn't get a 30min break, or the 2h sit down I was meant to get Angry. Still, only 2 more days! Grin Dinner's ready so I'd better go eat.

fishandlilacs · 09/11/2011 20:53

Evening girlies,

loving the FB page gathering us all up-nice to put faces to names.

I have read back but I cannot think of anything that hasn't already been said.

Had 31 wk GP antenatal today, i'm a leetle aneamic HB is supposed be 11-12 or above and mine has just dropped below 11-they have offered me iron tablets but I don't want the bloody things-they make me puke and bung me up. So i'm taking spatone. They're very good, gotta be tested again next week. Also had a trace of protein so they have sent some wee off to the lab to check alls well. But heartbeat was good and strong-sounded like lazer beams "pewm pewm pewm"

I am a very lucky mummy tonight-a lady who lives across the road, a massage therapist who does deep tissue and pregnancy massage. We live at no2 she lives at no 7. MY dh has seen her a few times for his back and I have had a couple of massages, she phoned me the other day to ask if i would be her case study for her lv1 reflexology in pregnancy. I have just had my first treatment-I'm getting 5 treatments! She's bloody good too! I commented on how uncomfortable the rib flare has been and how i'm normally in my pj's by now and she said next treatment to just come in my jim jams-we live so close! Brilliant!

Oeisha · 09/11/2011 21:40

Lucky fish! Grin. Now, all you need is for your bloods to be ok next week!

I feel like pants. Have hardly eaten a thing (literally 4 forks of dinner) which is causing associated guilt. Doesn't helped that I weighed myself yesterday expecting to see a small rise, like the alst few weeks, but no, back down by 2lb again. Tried again today and same thing, so it wasn't just that I was 'empty'. Just feel sick. I'm off to eat an apple and bed before I start sobbing like a looney.

knittiekitty · 09/11/2011 22:12

Thanks everyone, I know it's bad of me but I take great comfort from knowing I'm not the only one 'afflicted' with in-laws like mine. I think smaller doses would be better and it is quiet now they've gone but it was just too much this time. They've offered to come and stay and help when baby arrives!!!
Oeisha sorry you're feeling rough still, I keep thinking I don't need to bloom, just stop feeling so urgh, guess you must be similar.
Fish I'm so Envy re the massages, lucky girl! My Dh is now rubbing cocoa butter into my poor bump every night, which is just blissful, but I imagine yours will be more restful.

Mumtobe sounds like they're monitoring you closely too. We're lucky to have such care, although I wasn't thinking that after a 2 1/2 hour wait for my scan this week (a machine broke but they didn't say anything until I asked). With my dd, my show came about 3 days before I went into labour and it was weird, just lots of discharge, that was gooey and clear like egg whites, for a couple of hours. The MW assured me that's what it was (I rang the day unit in panic when it started) but all the books talk about a 'bloody plug'. Not sure what is more gross!

GiraffeAHolic · 09/11/2011 22:35

Well. An emergency auto locksmith and £185 later we have an unlockable car and a new programmed key.

It was going to be an extra £70 on top of the vauxhall quote to get the car transported to the garage and I would have been car less and dd's carseat less until next week. So this seemed the best way to go.

If anyone fancies a career change, looks like the money lies in replacement car keys Shock

addictediam · 10/11/2011 04:09

This week is not a good one for sleep :( ive woken up with really bad trapped wind and after going to the toilet feel like my undercarrage is on fire. Looks like its going to na a trip to the drs and a prescription on antibiotics for me today!

I did just read through the thread twice and can't remember what anyone has said! Blush I'm off to try and get a few more hours sleep

Giraffe glad you got the car sorted, the garage sound like they were trying to rob you blind!

ParsleyLion1 · 10/11/2011 07:37

addicted that's exactly how my UTI started. The antibiotics have now given me the opposite problem Blush but I do feel better today than yesterday. What the trapped wind had to do with it all I'm not sure.

Hope you get some sleep

Oeisha · 10/11/2011 09:15

Well, yesterday's done for me yet I still can't accept that I shouldn't go to work. Been trying to rationalise it all in my head and I should just be sensible and ring in sick, but goddamit only 2 more days to go and I hate having sick days, plus I don't feel too bad!!!
Woken up with another headache with dizziness and flashign lights. Paracetamol's keeping it at bay, so not that worried and good lord do NOT want to go to Stepping Hill AGAIN. Also feel fairly sick, but am sure that's to do with blood sugars and not anything else. Also, still feeling stupidly tearful, bloody tiredness.
Please someone tell me that I'm being stupid and to stay home as it's really, really not worth it! If I ring DH he'll panic and might want me to go to hospital.
addicted Hope they sort out your angry bits.

ParsleyLion1 · 10/11/2011 09:19

Stay home Oeisha it's not worth the hospital visit later - I'm staying home today so you can join me :)

Oeisha · 10/11/2011 09:25

Thank you Parsley. Will go and make the phonecall and try not to cry on whoever the hell answers. Just don't feel normal...it really shouldn't be this friggin difficult...yet I want a DC2...so it can't be all that bad!!!
